    genesis Zhangsun: Hey ELiza

Eliza Madrigal: Hi Genesis, wow long time since I've seen you....

Eliza Madrigal: you look completely changed :)

genesis Zhangsun: You look different too :)

genesis Zhangsun: yes it has been awhile

    genesis Zhangsun: how are you?

Eliza Madrigal: Sincerely well thanks, you?

    genesis Zhangsun: yes okay

    Eliza Madrigal: Hm, busy?

genesis Zhangsun: yes but a business that feels unsatisfying

genesis Zhangsun: you know what I mean?

Eliza Madrigal: yes I think I do..

genesis Zhangsun: a feeling of being busy but not exactly knowing what I am busy with

Eliza Madrigal smiles... yes that does make sense

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: During transitions it is easy to feel that way... like what you're doing hasn't quite taken shape yet

genesis Zhangsun: yes that is true

genesis Zhangsun: but it would be nice to feel that what I am doing feels like it is contributing to something which could take some sort of shape even if you have only a vague outline of it at the moment

genesis Zhangsun: I don't feel that way which makes me think something could be changed about the way I am going right now

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, maybe you're right that there is something that could be adjusted... have you been feeling this way for a while?

genesis Zhangsun: I would say three weeks or so now

genesis Zhangsun: which is just enough time to notice something but not enough time to see what could be adjusted

    Eliza Madrigal: Hm, yes :)

genesis Zhangsun: Something inside of me says...."Maybe you should just stop completely"

Eliza Madrigal: Stop to step back? or?

genesis Zhangsun: You know honestly I don't know what that means yet

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

genesis Zhangsun: I am still trying to work it out what stopping would mean

genesis Zhangsun: it can't mean just forget everything I am involved in and let people down

Eliza Madrigal: Right... but maybe a kind of stopping something that is going on in the process of what you're doing....

Eliza Madrigal: some kind of concern or direction?

genesis Zhangsun: that sounds right Eliza, sounds like you know something about that :)

    Eliza Madrigal grins

Eliza Madrigal: Yes, with my life wrapped up with others, I can not just 'stop' and let everything tumble...surely not...

Eliza Madrigal: but I can see where I might have added things on... expectations, etc

Eliza Madrigal: and even places where I might need to be ruthless

    genesis Zhangsun: yes even ruthless?

    Eliza Madrigal: yes, definitely

genesis Zhangsun: you mean cutting something out completely?

genesis Zhangsun: tell me about that :)

Eliza Madrigal: Well, for me parenting is the biggest example, because there is all sort of work associated obviously...

Eliza Madrigal: but then there are things that subtly get added to... expectations of one's time

Eliza Madrigal: and then you wonder "How did I end up doing __, __,__?"

    genesis Zhangsun: Hi Storm!

Eliza Madrigal: I didn't mean to... but unless I make ruthless decisions everyone is certainly happy to let me continue :)

    Storm Nordwind: Hi both!

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Storm! :)

genesis Zhangsun: yes I hear you Eliza! Could you give an example?

genesis Zhangsun: I connect with the parenting example having an almost three year old myself

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, well, mothering my children does not mean that I have to drive several other children home every day for their parents for instance :)

Eliza Madrigal: Oh, I didn't know that Genesis :)

genesis Zhangsun: ah yes that is a good example

Eliza Madrigal: There are so many examples like that...

genesis Zhangsun: yes being a "good mother" doesn't mean being the ubermom

    Eliza Madrigal: yes exactly

genesis Zhangsun: I can see how I can often let "doing something well" turn into "doing something perfectly"

Eliza Madrigal nods... and maybe it is natural to take things on but when that feeling comes to make room for something else..

Eliza Madrigal: which is what I think that 'no shape' feeling sometimes is..

    Eliza Madrigal: important to listen?

genesis Zhangsun: yes and listen without too much analysis

genesis Zhangsun: that is a difficulty for me listenning to myself or others but not getting so busy with analyzing it that I stop listening

Eliza Madrigal: yes... figuring things out c an become projects in themselves... another thing added on

    Eliza Madrigal: hehe

genesis Zhangsun: yes I think you are so dead on Eliza

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: Storm, I saw the retreat gathering area you made btw, so nice!

Storm Nordwind smiles - "glad you like it"

Storm Nordwind: A kind of village hall

Eliza Madrigal: yes, Neela and I were sitting there yesterday...such an interesting feel to it

Storm Nordwind: "Interesting" is often a euphemism for "weird"! ;)

Eliza Madrigal: haha, not for me

Eliza Madrigal: It accomodates so many spots yet doesn't feel like it takes much space

Eliza Madrigal: that's what I meant by interesting :)

    Storm Nordwind: I'm very pleased!

Storm Nordwind: I wanted to make a mix of openness and cosiness - very hard really

Eliza Madrigal: yes, similar to dealing with schedules in some ways... balance?

    Eliza Madrigal: priorities

Storm Nordwind smiles - yes, priorities

Storm Nordwind: So now I can get on, at last, with the Sacred Art Museum...

    Storm Nordwind: unless...

    Eliza Madrigal: unless?

Storm Nordwind: I have to consider this orientation zone thingie I've just heard about

Eliza Madrigal: What is that about?

Storm Nordwind: I'm not really the best person to say. I need to read the articles first

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, hopefuly it won't things too off course for you

Storm Nordwind: It would be nice to keep the momentum of the excitement surrounding the museum at the moment

Eliza Madrigal: yes it would :)

Storm Nordwind: But please... if you want to continue chatting about parent matters, please continue. I have raised 4 children myself! :)

Eliza Madrigal: Yes? wow, finding so much out today :))

Storm Nordwind: The youngest is now 30 so it's long ago and far away!

Eliza Madrigal: The only thing I wanted to clarify is that about the driving... I enjoy taking kids home, etc. I *like* being the house everyone wants to come over to...but there are times when things shift and one has to be ready to drop those things

    Eliza Madrigal: Oh My.

Eliza Madrigal tries to imagine what it will feel like for my oldest to be 30

Eliza Madrigal: much less the youngest!

Storm Nordwind: All my children walked to school :)

Eliza Madrigal: Mine are now in three diff. schools...

Eliza Madrigal: though I live down the street from a school two could walk to if I enrolled them there

Eliza Madrigal: :) I can be a tad perfectionistic ...heh

Eliza Madrigal: Actually maybe idealistic is a better word

Storm Nordwind: Mine went to several schools too. It was a mile and a quarter to the farthest one. Though when I was 10 I used to catch two public buses, each way, to and from school.

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes...I walked also...

Eliza Madrigal: just seems so different now, especially in the area I live in

Eliza Madrigal: times and seasons, too

Eliza Madrigal: sometimes the decision is right for a time, but it is good to reevaluate?

    --BELL--

Storm Nordwind: haha - I've got into trouble constantly re-evaluating in the past!

Eliza Madrigal: Oh, gen poofed..and Hi Adams! :)

    Storm Nordwind: Good morning Adams!

Adams Rubble: hello everyone. sorry for coming so late

Eliza Madrigal: We were talking about priorities a bit :)

    Adams Rubble: oh them :)

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    genesis Zhangsun: sorry crashed!

    Eliza Madrigal: Welcome back :)

    Adams Rubble: hello gen :)

genesis Zhangsun: it was not clear to me that I had crashed so I must have missed quite a bit

    genesis Zhangsun: Hi Adams!

Storm Nordwind: Priorities are, to me, very important. I used to teach a Time Management course and it started with a very long section of finding one's true priorities

Eliza Madrigal: ohh there is something very nice about that phrasing "one's true priorities"

Adams Rubble: Priorities are a tricky business

genesis Zhangsun: I like that too

Eliza Madrigal: why does one task feel like it takes up so much mental space and another , maybe even more difficult task, feel effortless...

Eliza Madrigal: must have to do with that 'true' in there

Storm Nordwind: They are an essential business if one is to effectively manage the events in your life

Adams Rubble: Life manages me in September :)

genesis Zhangsun: I like this kind of talk I need it

Storm Nordwind: Ah... I think so many people let others manage their lives like that

Storm Nordwind: It's a strange and very shocking thing...

    Storm Nordwind: I read once...

Storm Nordwind: "People without goals will be *used* by people with goals"

Storm Nordwind: I was stunned by that

Storm Nordwind: And I realised that personal goals only come from taking a lot of time to work out what personal priorities are

Eliza Madrigal: Dont we have secret goals sometimes?

Eliza Madrigal: Things we don't even realize we're after?

Storm Nordwind: Secret from ourselves, or from others?

    Eliza Madrigal: I'd say both

    Storm Nordwind: Yes

    Adams Rubble: sorry, back

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Storm Nordwind: And we will continue to not have time for those until we unearth them!

    Eliza Madrigal: excavation

Storm Nordwind: That's why I spent so long with folks on my course doing just that

Storm Nordwind: It ws my favourite course to give

Storm Nordwind: I used to get managers who would sent people on this so-called Time Management course

Adams Rubble: There are priorities behind priorities though

    Storm Nordwind: not realising...

Storm Nordwind: that their people would be easing out from under their thumbs!

    Adams Rubble: hehe

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Storm Nordwind: And in some cases, some people said "Why am I here? This isn't what I really want!" and they left. And I was SO pleased!

Adams Rubble: Maybe the priorities behind the priorities are what you are calling "true priorities"

Storm Nordwind: They come from your core values, Adams. They are what matters most to you personally.

    Adams Rubble nods

Adams Rubble: They allow us to live through all the daily chaos

Storm Nordwind: They *can* do, if we acknowledge them and know what to do with them

Eliza Madrigal: There have been many times when I find myself ina pickle of some sort... and think about how I got there..realize I was ignoring all the 'signs' because there was a specific 'something'...that's a scary feeling "Wow, am I that unaware?" "How do I get through the day?"

genesis Zhangsun: reminds me of a song "you might not get what you want but you will probably get what you need"

    Eliza Madrigal: Ahhh, yes :)

Storm Nordwind: That's probably just practice, Eliza!

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eliza Madrigal: Storm, do you think there is something like an essential question to ask oneself when they feel out of balance/alignment?

    Storm Nordwind: very probably!

    --BELL--

Storm Nordwind: Sometimes it simply needs a refocus on their priorities. What are they? Is what I am doing in line with them?

    Adams Rubble: nine seconds :)

Eliza Madrigal: what can I throw overboard?

    Adams Rubble: stopping to look

genesis Zhangsun: I have to get going!

genesis Zhangsun: thanks for the wonderful conversation

    Adams Rubble: bye Gen :)

    Storm Nordwind: Bye gen!

Eliza Madrigal: Bye genesis, hope you find clarity :)

genesis Zhangsun: thanks especially to you Eliza for being here

    genesis Zhangsun: bye!

    Eliza Madrigal: Bye

Eliza Madrigal: (That's awesome hair gen is sporting)

    Eliza Madrigal: heheh

    Adams Rubble: :)

Storm Nordwind: It's her original SL hair. I always thought it the best!

Eliza Madrigal: Really? I'd not seen her any way than the metalic woven style

Eliza Madrigal: which is really neat too

Adams Rubble: Interesting thought that people have their favorite way our avatars look :)

    Storm Nordwind: hehe! yes

    Eliza Madrigal: heh, yes :)

Storm Nordwind: I don't give them a choice. They get this or nothing! :)

    Eliza Madrigal: hahah

Adams Rubble: but I know I have my own preferences of others

    Adams Rubble: hehe Storm

Eliza Madrigal: yes I don't know how startled I'd be to see you differently Storm... your av suits your personality so well it seems

Storm Nordwind: I used to dress as a monk all the time, but stopped after I built the Cafe as I didn't want to put the scientists off!

Adams Rubble: I liked your monk too. He got me into PaB :)

    Storm Nordwind remembers fondly

Eliza Madrigal smiles to think Adams was led to PaB by monk Storm

Adams Rubble: not led, but he kept me here

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Adams Rubble: Storm runs a tight guardian shift...gets everyone involved and comfortable

Storm Nordwind: That sounds like my RL classes!

    Adams Rubble: :)

Eliza Madrigal: Yes, I've noticed that too... the art of consideration

Adams Rubble: I am sure you would get me interested in time management :)

    Storm Nordwind: haha! :)

Storm Nordwind: Such a dry subject when taught by most people, I have to say

Eliza Madrigal: I'm someone who loves the 'idea' of time management but in general rebels against structure

Adams Rubble: I am balancing such diverse items on my agenda these days

Eliza Madrigal: which possibly causes me much wasted time

Storm Nordwind sympathises with Eliza on that

Eliza Madrigal: yes Adams you are juggling a plate, ball, pin.... not the way it is normally done :)

Storm Nordwind: I must apologise - I have to leave right now. Thank you both for a lovely conversation.

Adams Rubble: sorry interruption. must go attend

Eliza Madrigal: Thank you too Storm :)

Eliza Madrigal: Bye to you both

Eliza Madrigal: Adams have a lovely day

    Storm Nordwind: Namaste

    Eliza Madrigal: too, Adios

    Eliza Madrigal: Namaste, Storm :)
