    Lucinda Lavender: i see

Eden Haiku: Well, I guess it is justy the two of us for now.

    Lucinda Lavender: ok

Eden Haiku: Any topic on your mind Lucinda?

Lucinda Lavender: not particularly...back to work tomorrow for me

    Lucinda Lavender: for you?

Eden Haiku: Oh yes, after the holidays, How was it for you?

    Lucinda Lavender: pretty good. relaxing...

    Eden Haiku: Nice :)

    Lucinda Lavender: yes

Lucinda Lavender: how did you get introduced to this place?

Eden Haiku: In a family reunion on Easter day, there was this little 13 year old.

    Lucinda Lavender: oh...yes?

Eden Haiku: Oh to PaB. I was attending an event at Kira and left because I did not like it.

    Lucinda Lavender: ah

Eden Haiku: Flew over and fell down in these beautiful gardens.

Eden Haiku: Walked around , went into a little charming house.

Eden Haiku: (It was the pub, I discovered later.)

    Lucinda Lavender: yes

Eden Haiku: Then I met this blond man I had seen at Kira.

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: Asked him if it was ok to walk in these gardens.

Eden Haiku: He said I was welcomed to and then invited me to the pavilion where the meeting was about to start.

    Lucinda Lavender: I see

Eden Haiku: And I found this place so wonderful I kept coming back. :) Tell me your story now...:)

Lucinda Lavender: Calvino mentioned that this might be a place he could show me...

Lucinda Lavender: I came and walked a bit and found it very beautiful.

Eden Haiku: Where did you meet him, in Kira?

Fox Monacular: Hi Eden and Lucinda

    Lucinda Lavender: HI Fox!

Eden Haiku: Hi Fox! Nice to see you :)

Fox Monacular: it's been a while

Lucinda Lavender: No I have known Calvino since we were teens

Eden Haiku: Yes, quite a while. :)

Eden Haiku: Have you met Lucinda yet?

Fox Monacular: no, this is the first time, i believe

Fox Monacular: nice to meet you!

Eden Haiku: Oh, I see, you know him in RL then! how nice!

Lucinda Lavender: nice to meet you also...:)

Eden Haiku: Fox and I lived in the same city for a while but now she moved to Boston. How do you like it there Fox?ç

Fox Monacular: it's ok, getting better as the weather improves

Eden Haiku: Ah yes, in Montreal Summer is here also ;))

Fox Monacular: but i see montreal as home now

    Fox Monacular: :)

Eden Haiku: Oh you do, that is wonderful!

    Fox Monacular: yes, I heard:)

Eden Haiku: Hopefully, we will get to meet in Real Life too Fox ;)

Fox Monacular: my whole family is there now

    Fox Monacular: yes, me too!

Fox Monacular: I'll probably be there for July

Eden Haiku: Did you give this session about nightmares finally?

    Fox Monacular: no, not yet!

Eden Haiku: Lucinda is part of a dream circle.

Fox Monacular: (my husband is still finishing his thesis... so everything is kinda on hold

Fox Monacular: oh, interesting! in SL or in RL?

Eden Haiku: And Lucinda, Fox is writing a PHD about dreams...

Fox Monacular: no, no, masters... :)

    Fox Monacular: phd later

Eden Haiku: Or something like that ;)

    Lucinda Lavender: Oh! Wonderful!

Lucinda Lavender: That can be such hard work...

    Fox Monacular: yes, definitely

Eden Haiku: Yes, masters, I remembre now ;)

Lucinda Lavender: When did you decide you wanted to study dreams

Eden Haiku: It is in neuroscience I think?

    Fox Monacular: right, neuroscience

Fox Monacular: hard to say... always was interested and then just found the dream and nivhtma

    Fox Monacular: sorry

Fox Monacular: dream and nightmare lab in montreal

Fox Monacular: right where I lived

    Lucinda Lavender: I see

Fox Monacular: so this was a sealed deal quickly:)

Eden Haiku: There is such a thing in Montreal, wow. I had no idea!

    Lucinda Lavender: fascenating!

Fox Monacular: yes, it is in Sacre-Coeur's Sleep research center

Fox Monacular: there are many labs related to sleep

Eden Haiku: Would you like to tell us a bit about nightmares Fox?

Fox Monacular: and one of them is DNL

Eden Haiku: Ah yes, the Sacre-Coeur sleep center I heard of, right.

Fox Monacular: sorry, my router just collapsed... i missed the last 2 min i think

Fox Monacular: the last chat I got was Eden Haiku: Would you like to tell us a bit about nightmares Fox?

Lucinda Lavender: not much else said I think...

    Fox Monacular: ok:) good

    Eden Haiku: Yes.

Fox Monacular: hmmm, what is it that interests you about nightmares Eden?

Fox Monacular: it is such a huge topic I mean... :)

Eden Haiku: ah ah... you are good at reversing questions I see :)))

Fox Monacular: we gather a lot of physiological data in the lab

Fox Monacular: but then there's also the phenomenological and experiential aspect

    Fox Monacular: of trauma

Eden Haiku: Yes. Maybe how the brain digest trauma through nightmares?

    Fox Monacular: and dreamwork...

    --BELL--

Fox Monacular: sorry for reversing your question :))

Eden Haiku: No, that is just funny. You can have a nice career as a psychoanlyst...;))

Lucinda Lavender: I have written down my dreams since 1987. Rarely have nightmares now. When younger there were a few...

Eden Haiku: WOw lUcinda, that is amazing!

Fox Monacular: wow, that's a long time... do you write them every day or just important ones?

Lucinda Lavender: most all get written down, maybe 5-6 a month.

Fox Monacular: ok, i see, so this is not every morning:)

    Lucinda Lavender: no,

    Eden Haiku: Important ones then...

Lucinda Lavender: I just do not remember on a daily basis.

Fox Monacular: so did you find any patterns? pehaps even yearly seasonal differences?

Fox Monacular: right, many people don't remember every day

Lucinda Lavender: The patterns are when I am rested I remember more...when a big dream comes then there won't be so many for a while.

Lucinda Lavender: I dream images sometimes that are of things I might see.

Fox Monacular: interesting! as if your dream material is being condensed and then experienced at ones at a key moment?

    Lucinda Lavender: yes

    Fox Monacular: precognitive?

    Lucinda Lavender: yes

Lucinda Lavender: not all certainly tho

Fox Monacular: yes, that would be pretty exhausting:)

    Fox Monacular: very interesting

Lucinda Lavender: It was after I had children that I noticed the precognitive ones

Lucinda Lavender: because I care about them

    Eden Haiku: Yes?

Fox Monacular: were these dreams about your children?

Lucinda Lavender: Then I had this big dream on 9/11

Lucinda Lavender: on the morning of...

Eden Haiku: Also dreamt about the towers a few months before it happened, An angel was showing them to me.

Lucinda Lavender: in which I saw a building melt down as I was wondering about what was wrong with it.

    Fox Monacular: wow

Lucinda Lavender: yes when the kids were young...

Eden Haiku: In my dream they were still intact. But the dream was powerful enough to use the imagery in one of my novels who was published that september.

    Lucinda Lavender: oh! interesting!

Fox Monacular: so you added that imagery into the finished text?

Eden Haiku: Another novelist in Quebec also had a novel with buildings collapsing on themselves (with 1000 floors she said).

Eden Haiku: Yes, I mean it was already at the printer when it happened.

    Fox Monacular: right

Fox Monacular: what is the title of your novel? I can find it in Montreal, right:)?

Eden Haiku: I will b e glad to bring you a copy of it (in the English translation I suppose). I do not reveal my true identity here :)))

Lucinda Lavender: I think the bigness of the image followed by the event is a big development in a persons life

Fox Monacular: oh, ok, of course:)

Eden Haiku: But to you, in person, that is ok...:)))

    Fox Monacular: :)

    Fox Monacular: thanks:)

Fox Monacular: (it's ok if it's in French too)

Eden Haiku: Oh, you can read French. Wonderful. My translator is very good but it is not as good...:)))

Fox Monacular: :), French would be great

Eden Haiku: Deal then, next July.

Fox Monacular: I hardly read anything in French, especially now in Boston

    Fox Monacular: wonderful!

    Fox Monacular: looking forward!

Lucinda Lavender: Are you in School in Boston?

Fox Monacular: no, my husband is doing his post doc

    Lucinda Lavender: I see

Fox Monacular: and i'm looking for a part time job

Fox Monacular: but spend most time in various playgrounds and ice cream shops with my toddler:)

Eden Haiku: How is she, the baby?

    --BELL--

Fox Monacular: she's great! thanks! 20 months old now... i'm getting fed up with breastfeeding:)

    Eden Haiku: ;)

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

Eden Haiku: Is she still enjoying russian cartoons on You TUbe?

Fox Monacular: she understands russian probably more than french, but speaks more in french:) hehe

Fox Monacular: yes, I just downloaded them all:)

Eden Haiku: Playground habits I suppose. More French-speaking toddlers in Montreal parks ;)

Fox Monacular: hmmm, or some french words are easier to pronouce

Fox Monacular: i mean yabloko vs. pomme

Fox Monacular: or spat vs dodo

Eden Haiku: Pomme defiitively easier ;)

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

Fox Monacular: yes, exactly! russian words are longer

    Fox Monacular: usually

Eden Haiku: Oh it reminds me of something.

Fox Monacular: my husband speaks to her in french

Fox Monacular: and i in russian

Fox Monacular: oh, sorry i cut you

Eden Haiku: Earlier, I was sharing with Lucinda that I met this 13 year old at Easter family reunion.

Eden Haiku: I have known her from her birth.

    Eden Haiku: No, no, please.

Eden Haiku: It is a short story: she was a shy little grl and in a few months, she transformed into this very sociable teen.

Eden Haiku: You know what made the difference I think?

    Eden Haiku: Facebook!

Lucinda Lavender: Was there something that changed about her...

Eden Haiku: She told me she now has 263 friends.

    Lucinda Lavender: wow

Eden Haiku: And one of them is Russian girl of 18 from Moscow who started commenting her comments on Billy Talent I think and then they share more and more.

Eden Haiku: I could feel the difference in her,

Eden Haiku: She was not so scared of people anymore.

Fox Monacular: that's interesting, because many complain that facebook flattens social relations and makes them more superficial but I'm not sure it's always so

    Eden Haiku: She felt apperciated.

Eden Haiku: personnaly, I hate Facebook. Stayed only 4 days on it.

Fox Monacular: that's a great example of how social media can actually be used in a positive way

Eden Haiku: But I'm reconsidering now...Justv to be friends with her!

Fox Monacular: I found quite a few lost friends from russia on facebook

    Lucinda Lavender: yes :)

Eden Haiku: aH that's nice Fox.

Fox Monacular: one of them is actually in boston, and i had no idea

Eden Haiku: Are you on facebook too Lucinda?

Fox Monacular: no now we met, and it was fun

    Lucinda Lavender: yes

    Eden Haiku: Wow!

Lucinda Lavender: It has been useful really...

Fox Monacular: actually it's more than that, many people I would not know how to contact otherwise are tehre

Fox Monacular: although there is a drawback, at least for me,... i mean there is a reason usually why some people never call each other

Lucinda Lavender: many from work are there and we can update each other quickly that way.

Eden Haiku: Say more about that Fox?

Fox Monacular: so do you really want them to know whether you got married or had a child, and things like that

Fox Monacular: and even if you filter your preferences, still, people can write on your wall, like so, how was your marriage party!

    Eden Haiku: Yes, I see.

    Lucinda Lavender: ummm...

Fox Monacular: so there's also this 'stalker' element

Lucinda Lavender: I can see that...

Fox Monacular: people were never as acutely aware of what's up in other people's lives

Fox Monacular: and i find it a little scary

Lucinda Lavender: I can see that

Eden Haiku: I'm very wary of stalkers. I do not believe much in transparency.

    Fox Monacular: yeah, me neither

Fox Monacular: i don't really have anything to hide, i think, but still

Eden Haiku: That is why I leave my RL and SL identities distinct.

Eden Haiku: Not to hide anything, but to keep my professional life different tahn my virtual one.

Fox Monacular: :) maybe i should reincarnate as another avatar :)

    Lucinda Lavender: you could?

Fox Monacular: here in PaB and Kira I don't mind if people know my real name though

Fox Monacular: well, that would just entail creating a whole other avatar alltogether...

Eden Haiku: I have to know someone real well before I reveal anything. Only one person knows my real name.

Fox Monacular: one person in SL you mean:)

Eden Haiku: Yes ;) I mean here in PaB.

    Fox Monacular: :)

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: You will be the second one.:)

    Fox Monacular: awesome!:)

Eden Haiku: By the grace of you considering my hometown as your home ;)))

    Fox Monacular: Montreal is great

Eden Haiku: Bleu has kindly invited me to give a poetry reading in one of her salons next Sunday.

Fox Monacular: By the way, Eden, how was your recent trip?

    Fox Monacular: oh, that's great!

Eden Haiku: I comsidered transparency but decided I am not ready for it. So it will be only Eden Haiku,s poetry ;)

Fox Monacular: I'll try to make it there, but I can't promise anything... a toddler and dissertation-writing husband is like having a whole daycare at home

    Fox Monacular: :)

Eden Haiku: My trip to India was wonderful.

Eden Haiku: Husband as toddler number 2 ;)))

    Fox Monacular: husband as 2-3toddlers:)

Eden Haiku: I posted nwe haikus from my trip on my contrinbution page. Let me give you the link.

Fox Monacular: did you go to a particular retreat there or was it more of a free trip?

Fox Monacular: oh, that would be great

Eden Haiku: Attending a conference on Quebec litterature.

Fox Monacular: in India? that's unexpected!

Eden Haiku: Then a tour in three universities giving talks and poetry readings.

Eden Haiku: I know, it is amazing isn'it it? I was thbere for the same subject 4 years ago as well

Lucinda Lavender: Is it possible that I could read some of your poetry?

Eden Haiku: Indian teachers of French speak a beautiful French.

Eden Haiku: Yes, Lucinda, I will give the link to the haikus.

    Lucinda Lavender: thanks

    Fox Monacular: wow

Fox Monacular: is it organized by any particular university?

    Eden Haiku: http://bit.ly/9OELQZ

Eden Haiku: Yes, but it would reveal my name...;))

    Fox Monacular: thanks, eden

    Fox Monacular: oh, right, sorry:)

    Lucinda Lavender: thank you...

Eden Haiku: I also went to Dharamsala for His Holiness teachings.

    Fox Monacular: oh that;s wonderful

Eden Haiku: It was both work and pilgrimage.

Eden Haiku: Yes, Dharamsala was amazing.

Fox Monacular: i guess we're both reading your haikus now:)

    Lucinda Lavender: Yes...

Eden Haiku: And I am IM the poet I invited to read with me. He,s from Montreal area too...

Lucinda Lavender: What are His Holiness teachings?

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: It was four commentaries on the Guhyasamaja Tantra.

Eden Haiku: Well, thank you both for the chat. It was delighful to see you again Fox.

Eden Haiku: Bye Lucinda :) bye Fox

Fox Monacular: Bye Eden, thank you for haikus and your amazing company

Lucinda Lavender: Good bye Eden. thanks again for the haikus

Fox Monacular: I guess I'll have to go too.. it's late here.

Fox Monacular: was great to meet you, Lucinda!

Lucinda Lavender: Nice to meet you Fox, good luck with all you do...goodnight

    Fox Monacular: thanks!

Fox Monacular: hope to see you around
