The Guardian for this meeting was SophiaSharon Larnia. The comments are by SophiaSharon Larnia.

I sat in the pavilion for 1/2 hour and no one came, so I started to dig through my inventory to see what toys I had in there. I found this bike and started cycling around the fountain: on bike.jpg

Then Calvino arrived and told me a story about some wonderful things he has seen in Thailand:

    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Calvino :)
Calvino Rabeni: Hello, SSL, how is it going ?
SophiaSharon Larnia: good :) no one came for 1/2 hour, and was playing with toys in inventory :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: how are you??
    Calvino Rabeni: I'm well thanks
SophiaSharon Larnia: faring well in Thailand? :)
Calvino Rabeni: I'm still in thailand for a few days more - I think I'll change from "drift" to "plan" as a way to operate
SophiaSharon Larnia: good to drift for a while, with a plan to plan later :) Thats sort of what I'm doing
Calvino Rabeni: How so :) ?
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'm inbetween jobs at the moment, can't say I've had that experience in my adult life
Calvino Rabeni: How are you liking (or dealing?) with it?
SophiaSharon Larnia: its kind of strange, I feel like I should be doing something :)
Calvino Rabeni: Does it cause a log of worry or is it a sabbatical?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sabbatical :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: turning the dirt in my garden
SophiaSharon Larnia: planning what plants to put where, researching it
    SophiaSharon Larnia: buying white paint
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: nothing too deep or introspective about it
Calvino Rabeni: Homemaking is deep I believe
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
    --BELL--
SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry so quiet, not used to coming here so late, and now not working nights, it's late for me!!
SophiaSharon Larnia: what is it like there? Can you tell me a story?
Calvino Rabeni: RIght, it is late there.
    Calvino Rabeni: OK

Calvino Rabeni: I'm travelling with a friend who is a "retired" nomad
Calvino Rabeni: Nothing too adventurous now, but he has done it in the past
SophiaSharon Larnia: nomads can retire? Where do they go, their favorite place?
Calvino Rabeni: Yesterday we hired a tour package - cross the mountains in a van, take a passenger ferry, climb off that onto a speedboat, whiz by some islands
SophiaSharon Larnia: wow, sounds very active!
Calvino Rabeni: stopping for snorkeling, they throw biscuits in the water
Calvino Rabeni: (he is 90 tomorrow)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wow
Calvino Rabeni: The biscuits gather small zebrafish all around you
Calvino Rabeni: (assuming you are in the water)
Calvino Rabeni: in a feeding frenzy - there are some larger spotted fish
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'm hoping they don't bite :)
Calvino Rabeni: and the sea floor looks like giant Brains
Calvino Rabeni: (they bite biscuits only, I believe)
Calvino Rabeni: Then there are some things on the rocks like spherical clusters of long black spines
    Calvino Rabeni: like knitting needlescrown-of-thorns-starfish.jpg
Calvino Rabeni: but with five white dots (eyes?) in a pentagon
SophiaSharon Larnia: whoa i wonder what they'd feel like, but wouldn't want to disturb them
Calvino Rabeni: it must have been a kind of starfish
SophiaSharon Larnia: is the water very blue?
Calvino Rabeni: There's another place famous for being depicted on postcards
Calvino Rabeni: In the pictures the water looks very blue
Calvino Rabeni: three small islands joined by a white sandbar
Calvino Rabeni: Can only get there by boat
Calvino Rabeni: I almost wished the water was a little cooler
SophiaSharon Larnia: can not swim to them? :)
Calvino Rabeni: Maybe a good swimmer - my friend could probably do it even at his age (I'm a lousy swimmer myself)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ha very nice
SophiaSharon Larnia: thank you Calvino, I'll be dreaming about a blue ocean with strange sea creatures... with islands in a row. :))

Calvino Rabeni: I haven't met any americans yet on this vacation
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wow
SophiaSharon Larnia: how do you communicate?
Calvino Rabeni: Many japanese, some europeans, lots of brits and austrailians
Calvino Rabeni: LIke in SL, english is the second language of nearly everyone here
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ok
Calvino Rabeni: The signs, traffic and business, even in the non-tourism areas, are in both languages
    --BELL--
SophiaSharon Larnia: how strange that must be, to be the only american, you could completely re-write your self...
Calvino Rabeni: I can speak travellers' thai enough to get around and chat a little
Calvino Rabeni: Many people think I'm from Sweden or Norway
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Calvino Rabeni: Compared to past years, there is so much internet
SophiaSharon Larnia: easier to find a connection?
Calvino Rabeni: I don't even have to show my own photos, since "everyone" has collections from the places they go
    Calvino Rabeni: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&r...ed=0CCIQsAQwBA
Calvino Rabeni: (what a huge link !)
SophiaSharon Larnia: :) that happens to me all the time
SophiaSharon Larnia: they'd be nice, if you ever get around to it
SophiaSharon Larnia: but I think i should go to bed, am almost sleeping at my keyboard :)
Calvino Rabeni: My next travel task is to find a hotel in a different area, with wifi (!) and then how to get there
Calvino Rabeni: OK, SSL, glad to talk to you
SophiaSharon Larnia: ah yes, crucial eh :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Sleep well
SophiaSharon Larnia: :) thanks, take care
    Calvino Rabeni: Night
