The Guardian for this meeting was Fefonz Quan. The comments are by Fefonz Quan.

After missing last week's session, it was wonderful to get back to my GoC slot and see such a great bunch of people having inspiring conversation. all i can say is i hope others enjoed it as much as i did.

    Fefonz Quan: Hello Eden
Eden Haiku: Hi Fefonz, how are you?
Fefonz Quan: very good, and you?
    Eden Haiku: Good too ;)
Eden Haiku: Yakuzza is going to organize an 'happy hour' on voice chat on Fridays at noon, before his session. Here in the pavilion. I like his idea very much.
Eden Haiku: He would like us to talk about PaB topics, but in voice.
    Fefonz Quan: thath sounds nice!
Eden Haiku: Yes, I think it is nice to hear voices, it will contribute to the liveliness in the village!
Fefonz Quan: indeed. I have been in some PaB-related meeting that used vioce (mostly in some Kira workshops) and i really liked to hear peoples voice
Eden Haiku: Yes, me too. I only attended a few sessions of the Time Workshop unfortunately, but I loved hearing the voices. I remember your voice Fefonz ;)
Fefonz Quan: ah that's nice (blushes)
Eden Haiku: It adds dimensiuons as Eliza would say.
Eden Haiku: I had to use the pause to fetch the glass of water I had left on the table on the balcony. I noticed my cat had an eye on it. ;)
Fefonz Quan: sounds like a good choice :)
Eden Haiku: She believes she is a human being I suppose. She always seems to find revolting having to lap water from a bowl on the floor!
Eden Haiku: What was your own experience during the pause?
Fefonz Quan: well in fact i did practice some PaB , surprisingly :)
    Eden Haiku: Nice.
Fefonz Quan: quite a calming, pleasant experience
Eden Haiku: Hello Wol, nice to see you ;-)
    Wol Euler: hello eden, fefonz
    Fefonz Quan: Hey Wol!
Fefonz Quan: good to see you!
    Wol Euler: likewise
    Wol Euler: hello yaku
    Eden Haiku: hello Yakuzza!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
    Fefonz Quan: Hey Yaku!
Fefonz Quan: Wol, if i recall well, you are here and nt in SF due to vulcanic activity?
    Fefonz Quan: not*
Wol Euler: this is, sadly, true.,
Wol Euler: but, hey, what the hell. Life goes on.
Eden Haiku: Yes, this is sad Wol, so sorry.
Wol Euler: I hope to be in Nova Scotia for the retreat in August
Fefonz Quan: well, relatively it is a minor connsequence of tactonic activities...
    Agatha Macbeth: Evening all
Wol Euler: indeed, could have been very much worse.
    Wol Euler: agatha!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey aga
    Fefonz Quan: hello agathat
    Eden Haiku: hello Agatha!
    Wol Euler points to Pompeii.
    Eden Haiku: ;))
    Fefonz Quan: ye.
Fefonz Quan: my brother missed a flight to the US (via London), and got a direct one only after 3 days
    Wol Euler: hello mick
    Qt Core: hi all
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi Mick
    Agatha Macbeth: And QT
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey mick
Wol Euler: Gaya missed the retreat too, she couldn't get away from London
    Eden Haiku: Hello Mick.
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Folks
Fefonz Quan: Hi Qt, Hi Mick.
Wol Euler: hello qt, didn't see you arrive
    Eden Haiku: Hello Qt!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey qt
Yakuzza Lethecus: ah, hes genesis arrived in italy ?
    Mickorod Renard: ayup Fef
Fefonz Quan: ohh, i'm sure she feels dissapointed too.
Yakuzza Lethecus: i saw that in the group that she also had trouble with the volcano
Wol Euler: I'm not sure whehter she has arrived yet, Pema said something a few days ago about her being in SF
Wol Euler: i.e. still being there
Fefonz Quan: wow, i see your messages in somewhat shuffled order, hope to make sense out of it...
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
    arabella Ella: Hiya
    Yakuzza Lethecus: ara! :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi Ara :)
    Qt Core: hi Ara
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Ara
    Eden Haiku: Hi Arabella!
    Fefonz Quan: Hey Ara!
    Wol Euler: hello ara
Agatha Macbeth: Like the boots especially
    Agatha Macbeth: Crap
Fefonz Quan: well, now there are four of the last RL retreat here :)
    Wol Euler: :)
    Wol Euler: heheheheheh
Fefonz Quan: i have some PaB-related question in mind:
arabella Ella: SL is taking ages to rez hope i am not sitting on anyone's lap?
Yakuzza Lethecus: nah, and even when it would be fine :D
Agatha Macbeth: Well you're not on mine, unfortunately :)
Fefonz Quan: not that there's anything wrong with that Ara ;-)
    Mickorod Renard: watz that Fef?
    arabella Ella: :)
Fefonz Quan: I have put some 15-min alarm clock on my office PC
Fefonz Quan: and when i practice PaB there, mostly what i see are the walls of the open space, or the computer screen itself
Yakuzza Lethecus already sneaks to bed, take care everyone
Agatha Macbeth: Schlaf gut Yaku :)
    Wol Euler: 'night yaku
Fefonz Quan: which is a very different view, compared for example the window facing the trees i had in the IAS last year
    Wol Euler: :)
    Fefonz Quan: (night Yaku)
Agatha Macbeth: Don't people wonder what you're doing though Fonz?
Fefonz Quan: (it's only 15 sec, and i can't be seen by other people mostly, so no problem Aga)
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Eden Haiku: Bye Yaku, Sweet dreams!
Agatha Macbeth: You don't sit on the desk cross-legged then? :)
    Eden Haiku: ;-))
Fefonz Quan: So my questions is: do you find practicing in an industrial environment - or even more: when looking at the computer screen - less effective, less 'natural' etc.
    Fefonz Quan: nope aga ;-)
    Agatha Macbeth: I see....
Wol Euler: I almost always close my eyes anyway, fef :)
Agatha Macbeth: I think most people do
Eden Haiku: I often practice in a subway ride and I enjoy becoming more aware of what I see.
Qt Core: and who says being in front of a pc is not natural ;-)
Agatha Macbeth: Not on the tracks I hope Edie ;-)
Fefonz Quan: that's exactly my point Qt. Yet it does feels somehow more artificial
Wol Euler: hello allan, havent seen you here in a while
Qt Core: i usually end up doing if not the pab practice some kind of "syncing with the world" in fromt of a pc
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Allan
Allan Whiteberry: Yes, I'm surprised you even remember me
    Wol Euler smiles
    Qt Core: hi Allan
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Allan
Wol Euler: it's the double "L"
    Allan Whiteberry: Hello All
    Wol Euler: makes you distinctive
Fefonz Quan: Wol, this does solve some of it, yet: 1) it might look weirder if someone comes in, and 2) one of the thinks i liked when starting PaB, is the ability to meditate with open eyes, in contrast with what i usually practice in meditation
Wol Euler: well, can you "turn off" your eyes while keeping htem open?
    Fefonz Quan: hello Allan
    Eden Haiku: ;) Aga...
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
Wol Euler: concentrate on an inner picture rather than an external image?
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Allan Whiteberry: Hello Fefonz
Mickorod Renard: I think its an important practice in that it can extend into ones normal operating daily routine' whether at work or wherever
Fefonz Quan: I guess i could 'turn off' my eyes, though i see the practice as encompassing what we see, rather than escaping it, hence i prefer not to mostly (not that there aren't enoguh appearances for the other senses)
Wol Euler: well, in that case, you must accept and indeed welcome your industrial suroundings and computer screen :)
Wol Euler: because they are your reality at that time
Arisia Vita: Hi all my friends....
Wol Euler: hello ari, nice to see you
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Ari
Qt Core: it may even be a "reassuring" image as you see what it is espected to be seen
Qt Core: so you can discard it
Mickorod Renard: I like to think some of the practice actually helps us to acknowledge more of what we should see if we were not conditioned to take much of it for granted and ignor some of the finer details
Fefonz Quan: indded, yet, if we consider Pema's 'movie' metaphor, it feels like 'seeing it all like a movie' while you are indeed watching a movie
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Ari
    Fefonz Quan: Hi Ari
    Mickorod Renard: have I crashed?
Wol Euler cheers. Thank you, qt
    Wol Euler: (again)
    Qt Core: yw :-)
Agatha Macbeth: I still see you Mick :)
    Mickorod Renard: ty Ags
Fefonz Quan: not from my point of view Mick (the crash)
    Mickorod Renard: cheers
Fefonz Quan: not that i would trust this point of view, missing the reasons for the last thanks i guess..
Mickorod Renard: another interesting point about watching a movie,,,,is that we make a choice to watch the movie,,and actually concentrate on it to some extent
    Wol Euler nods
Wol Euler: perhaps all of life would be as exciting as a movie if we watched with the same concentration?
Mickorod Renard: take the time to appreciate,,something we often override in our normal life
    Fefonz Quan nods to Mick
Qt Core: like becoming an obsessed movie fan like the one counting the items in fridges in movies scenes to find errors ?
Fefonz Quan: i wonder - does it have to do with the fact that in a regular movie there is no 'I' to distract us?
    Wol Euler: an interesting idea.
Mickorod Renard: I used to try and suggest to myself that life is an experience,,but that wasnt enough,,now I try and think of it as an adventure
    Eden Haiku: bye everyone :)
    Qt Core: bye eden
Wol Euler: bye eden, take care
    Fefonz Quan: bye Eden
    arabella Ella: bye Eden
    Mickorod Renard: bye eden
    Agatha Macbeth: A bientot Eden
Mickorod Renard: adventures always seem more attractive and exciting to me
Agatha Macbeth only just noticed we lost Allan
    arabella Ella: oh
arabella Ella: and re-gained symmetry too
Mickorod Renard: yes,,and wol has moved
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: qt saved the day there, I just closed the arc
    Fefonz Quan: :-)
    Agatha Macbeth: Thanks Noah
arabella Ella: yes i noticed :)
Qt Core: today it seem i have it bad ;-)
Mickorod Renard: come on,,admit it wol,,u wanted to sit next to me
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: yes of course. I was just waiting for an excuse to do it discretely
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Qt Core: and now i can even leave leaving symmetry intact too
    arabella Ella: :)
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: bye qt, take care
    Mickorod Renard: bye Qt
    Qt Core: so, bye all
    Agatha Macbeth: Ciao QT :)
Fefonz Quan: leave long and prosper some would say Qt ;-)
    Mickorod Renard: sleep well
    arabella Ella: notte Qt
    Qt Core: >:-)
    Qt Core: Ciao!
Fefonz Quan: We had quite a nice attendance today, and it feels nice to be back after i missed my seesion last week
    Fefonz Quan: session*
Mickorod Renard: its nice to have you back Fef
    Wol Euler: agreed :)
arabella Ella: yes good to see you back Fef
arabella Ella: and hope u got satisfactory answers to your questions on PaB practice earlier tonite
Fefonz Quan: I will say good night, _/!\_
    Mickorod Renard: take care Fef
    Mickorod Renard: nite nite
Fefonz Quan: got some ara :)
    Agatha Macbeth: BFN Fonzie
    Wol Euler: goodnight fef
arabella Ella: nite Fef sleep well
    Wol Euler: :)
    Mickorod Renard: symetry
    arabella Ella: :)
    Mickorod Renard: have i crashed?
Agatha Macbeth: With one 'm' ;-)
arabella Ella: you are elevated Mick
Mickorod Renard: thats what happened last time
Agatha Macbeth: You're a fakir Mick
    arabella Ella: ah that's better
Mickorod Renard: yes,,many tell me that Ags
    Agatha Macbeth smiles
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Mickorod Renard: it was funny lastnight at dreams when Pila made the typo slip Ags
arabella Ella: do fakirs sleep on beds of nails Aga?
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh YES!!!!!!
    Mickorod Renard: he he
    Wol Euler: eh?

This part of the conversation was edited out according to dorect requests from the session attendees. So, not being there anymore, i follow the requests without further questioning.

Mickorod Renard: I like it when something funny happens,,it wakes the inner self
Agatha Macbeth: It's always funny when it happens to someone else of course
arabella Ella: yes it is a horrible feeling to be embarrased in certain situations
    Agatha Macbeth nods
arabella Ella: when you wish the ground to swallow you up
    arabella Ella: just disappear
arabella Ella: or put the clock back

And that part too... interesting, the conversation was quite to the point at the times i attended, and just as i went away the guys (and girls) started going astray. Strange, i never saw myself as the responsible adult here ;-)

Arisia Vita: I will ask your leave now as I have other friends to visit....
Wol Euler: well, my dearies, I think I will move on.
    Mickorod Renard: bye Ari
Arisia Vita: see you all soon
Wol Euler: enjoy the evening, or afternoon
    Mickorod Renard: bye Wol
    Mickorod Renard: and you Wol
arabella Ella: nite Wol take care
