The Guardian for this meeting was Calvino Rabeni. The lack of comments are by Calvino Rabeni.

    Calvino Rabeni: hi mitzi!
Mitzi Mimistrobell: hey - different duds - are they monastic in nature?
Calvino Rabeni: yes supposedly theravada, like the monks I saw here recently :)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: jeez my avatar has a huge nose!
Mitzi Mimistrobell: very nice. I now feel differently about you. I feel you are more elevated
Mitzi Mimistrobell: you even have a meditative posture
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I have a question.. What have you brought back in terms of feelings or thoughts from your travels?
Calvino Rabeni: have you been 2 bangkok?
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: No, never.
Calvino Rabeni: i was late today - the router is reset at 9am
Mitzi Mimistrobell: yes, me too. I got there at 8:20 (7:30), then saw you weren't online so I left and just as I was logging out I saw that you appeared
Mitzi Mimistrobell: So anyway ... your body is back in the USA?
Calvino Rabeni: no is here in bangkok
Mitzi Mimistrobell: oh really! how exotic then!
Calvino Rabeni: here is my attempt at "live" chat pictures http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Gz4PXIU5ZpYnExoF5mJzvw?feat=directlink
Calvino Rabeni: so your avi has been here today :)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ah! is "here" in Bangkok then?!?
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I'm checking out your pix
Mitzi Mimistrobell: very cool, I like the shell shape ... no pix of YOU though!
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ... and the giant Buddha under repair
(a log interruption occurred due to a crash)
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: welcome back
Calvino Rabeni: ty - net is dicy here
    Calvino Rabeni: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/xiZfZ9Ow24rQnLKd9tiDHw?feat=directlink
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I kind of gathered as such. It's fairly amazing that you can connect at all!
Mitzi Mimistrobell: and that we could be communicating so far away
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Conversations here are recorded when ON AIR. Please see http://playasbeing.wik.is/
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Please observe 90 seconds of silence.
Calvino Rabeni: the pic show our sl avatars in bangkok at the Happy House near the river
Calvino Rabeni: I' getting better at winging it during travel
Play as Being 15 minute bell: Thank you.
Calvino Rabeni: left my bag at the airport, to roam unencumbered
Mitzi Mimistrobell: finding different wireless networks to ho p onto?
Calvino Rabeni: came here on city bus
Calvino Rabeni: there are many nowadays
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I like that feeling - "to roam unencumbered"
Calvino Rabeni: wish u were here - i would play tour guide
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: well that would be extremely awesome!
Mitzi Mimistrobell: looking at your pix is giving me a feeling of elsewhere
Calvino Rabeni: I know this area - can walk to two temples I like
Mitzi Mimistrobell: tell me about the feeling in these temples
Calvino Rabeni: hmmm. not so separate from mundane life I think
Calvino Rabeni: Temple grounds have the usual street vendors and trash
Mitzi Mimistrobell: oh yeh..? not so separate huh
Calvino Rabeni: ]but there are lines not to cross - must take off shoes, not wear certain cloothing
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: but of course
Calvino Rabeni: Ido not know theofferings methods
Calvino Rabeni: so I fake it
Mitzi Mimistrobell: if your intention is sincere and humble
Calvino Rabeni: fun waysto donate. somewhat like a carnival or pennyarcade - very inventive
CMitzi Mimistrobell: I'm sure they will forgive the form being off
    Calvino Rabeni: sure
Mitzi Mimistrobell: as you are a stranger in a strange land.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: what are the ways to donate that are fun?
Calvino Rabeni: but it is same in the taxi - at the stop light a woman sells flowers
Calvino Rabeni: so he stops to buy a new ones to hang around the mirror and prays at the stop light
Calvino Rabeni: (I see my comments in triplicate, doyou?)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: wow! that's reverence integrated into everyday life.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: No your comments are coming across only once.
Calvino Rabeni: yes, it is integrated
Mitzi Mimistrobell: among your pictures - Ifelt the most so far from looking at the "Magic Garden" statues ...
Calvino Rabeni: the beer bars have a shrine in each one
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ... and also any pictures of water buses, and buildings along the water.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ... ha ha! about the girly bars! Very appropriate.
Calvino Rabeni: today I will visit wat Pho, with instructional statues for massage and healing
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Is your friend Fred still there with you?
Calvino Rabeni: and maybe take boat up the canals to look at the old wooden houses
Calvino Rabeni: to i am on my own
Calvino Rabeni: he doesn't like the life of the wanderer with a different hotel each night
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I can relate - energy expended on finding a place - could be stressful.
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
Mitzi Mimistrobell: But gosh , if you are there and want to explore, why not go for it?
Mitzi Mimistrobell: you will rejoin him later ...?
Calvino Rabeni: with no luggage U can go by motorcycle taxi - it isw fastest
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Sounds lovely ... old wooden houses. what does one eat for breakfast there
Calvino Rabeni: No I will not see him until I get to ashland
Calvino Rabeni: He is having a great time - I bought him a thai mobile phone and showed how to useit - he checks in daily
Mitzi Mimistrobell: How much longer do you wander there?
Calvino Rabeni: Today last day - will get up at 3am and head for airport
Mitzi Mimistrobell: will you be happy to return? or sad...
Calvino Rabeni: OK,so... shall we discuss Play or Being? :)
Calvino Rabeni: Not happyor sad, but I want to come back :)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Being ... which is play anyway ...
Calvino Rabeni: So much to see here - and it takes time to settle in enough to get the feeling of it
Mitzi Mimistrobell: any topics present themselves to your consciousness , oh wanderer?
Calvino Rabeni: SoI'm trying to contemplate "being-in-motion"
Calvino Rabeni: Well, just the massage of constant bedlam
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I find I'm not the greatest traveler for that very reason. I get easily overwhelmed and affected by sensory stimulation.
Calvino Rabeni: To extend the energy body in advance of perceiving events
Calvino Rabeni: Seme here, I try to overcome that
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Well there you go! Oddly enough, or perhaps not surprisingly, a topic on my class last night.
Calvino Rabeni: Having pockets full of cash (in small bills) doesn't hurt either :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Tell me ?
Mitzi Mimistrobell: The vibrational, energetic sense of self - extending through both space and time.
Calvino Rabeni: Ah, right - this is a ood reminder
Mitzi Mimistrobell: True self - as distinct from the ego constructions we may be still struggling to shed
Calvino Rabeni: Like seeing some thing person, noise, etc, andfeeling "that has me in it"
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Tuning into one's own vibrational presence, how far it extends from your body until that's not you anymore. Feeling clear about that extent and noticing how it changes in contact with others
Mitzi Mimistrobell: what you just said, a slightly different angle, but perhaps that too.
Calvino Rabeni: no need to respond to everything as a "foreign object"
Mitzi Mimistrobell: From my class - I think what he was sayin g was to encourage us to claim and own the energetic space that is us as us, so perhaps the opposite - but when tuned into the expanded self - yes, the other feels not threatening ..
Calvino Rabeni: good class you are in
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Interestingly, he spoke of how through vibrational attunement, one can be in touch with teachers without ever meeting them physically.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: The class is awesome. And only 2 more meetings plus an extra "sohbet" which may exten into a party
Mitzi Mimistrobell: It's affecting me very strongly. I've been actually doing some of the practices I've neglected for years and years.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: And feeling immediate and strong changes in state ... but they are depending on constant attentiveness and how quickly my state returns to mundane levels when I focus on mundane things.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I'm peaceful and ecstatic. I wonder if I will lose it as soon as the class ends.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Right now I don't think so, but we shall see!
Calvino Rabeni: there is a loud motorcycle revving - I was focusing on it
Calvino Rabeni: there aren't mundane objects I think
Calvino Rabeni: Iwonder how the PaB urban retreat did in that environment
Mitzi Mimistrobell: all impressions carry energy that can be nourishing ... or not?
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: carryies specific qualities
Calvino Rabeni: makes sense, but can you store them for a time when that quality is needed?
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: that's the idea
Calvino Rabeni: A balanced diet of impressions
Calvino Rabeni: Themotorcycle sound will come in handy later :)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: when you want to distract someone from an annoying behavior? haha!
Calvino Rabeni: It could be useful when it's time to move somewhere forcefully
Calvino Rabeni: And / or make an announcement to all who are around
Mitzi Mimistrobell: yes! that's when it would be very handy
Calvino Rabeni: What was it Y usaed to say about enteringa room ?
Mitzi Mimistrobell: what about entering a room? need more hints
    Calvino Rabeni: bursting in dramatically
Mitzi Mimistrobell: sounds like one of your assignments!
Calvino Rabeni: yes, but presented to the full group :)\
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: i don't recall that ...
Calvino Rabeni: that might be a good time for the motorcycle
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: indeed.
Calvino Rabeni: BTW, the thai environments are very noisy, and the language carries well - good audible qualities
Calvino Rabeni: I was tempted by the forest monastery though
Mitzi Mimistrobell: even on the beaches?
Calvino Rabeni: But I think you'd agree, we must not let external coditions dictate the fullness of experiencing self and being?
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Well that would require strength most of do not have ...
Calvino Rabeni: I also learned that in Aikido and Tai Chi - you blend with whatever comes, no resistence
Calvino Rabeni: more a matter of positioning than strength
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ... perhaps instead one would aspire to develop skillfulness in adapting to to environments ...
Calvino Rabeni: Adapting is to blend with and do what it does
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ... and skillfulness in sculpting environments where we do have some control ...
    Calvino Rabeni: enthusiastically
Calvino Rabeni: Remember the slogan "say yes quickly"?
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: Yes, I do!
Calvino Rabeni: A long time practice I suppose - thchange from automatic No to automatic Yes
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I learned a new thing last night about automatic energy
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ... not a negative thing ... the energy to do and do and do - strength!
Calvino Rabeni: yes Isuppose to train it to do better thinbgs?
Mitzi Mimistrobell: about say yes quickly ... maybe to not say no automatically ...
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Yes, train it up "properly"
Calvino Rabeni: Anycomplex environment has in it somewhere, just the qualities you need to change something appropriately
Mitzi Mimistrobell: If we don't say No automatically, then we allow whatever is more subtly and complexly there to must be perceived. Then we may say yes or say not, or say maybe or say maybe later
Calvino Rabeni: Like I just noticed some very delicate plants in hanging pots
Mitzi Mimistrobell: So you could draw on that delicacy for some delicate negotation you may have to do later on ...!
Calvino Rabeni: moving subtly in the light breeze
Mitzi Mimistrobell: ahh very poetic, calvino
Calvino Rabeni: For right now, because my heart is blocked somewhat against the loud hard hot objects in this place
Mitzi Mimistrobell: loud hard hot - I imagine that in Seattle it is quiet, soft and moist
Calvino Rabeni: A cart of watermellons and mangoes just passed
Calvino Rabeni: Right, BKK is not Seattle, for sure
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: moist and cool
Calvino Rabeni: The buddha shrine has little plants, that I now see are meant to look like minature palm trees next to the house
Mitzi Mimistrobell: These shrines sound like a unique art form that everyone participates in creating.
Calvino Rabeni: like doll houses of the spirit - each one has distinct creative touches
Mitzi Mimistrobell: integrated spiirituality and creativity in mundane life, very endearing
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, maybe some westerners would think it degrades by the mixing? But Ilike the combination
Calvino Rabeni: BUT, were I a monk here, I'd probably start pickingup all the trash
Calvino Rabeni: There seems little awareness of trash
Calvino Rabeni: even on temple grounds
Calvino Rabeni: Thjey sweep the stairs carefully
Mitzi Mimistrobell: we are culturally programmed here
Calvino Rabeni: maybe for the walkers?
Calvino Rabeni: But thetrashbeside the stairs is ignored
Mitzi Mimistrobell: so, they sweep the stairs carefully but don't pck up the trash!
Mitzi Mimistrobell: I notice sdomething simila in Europe.
Calvino Rabeni: Trashused to be organic / biodegradable
Calvino Rabeni: But now the plastic lasts forever
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: right
Calvino Rabeni: Notlike the old banana leaf wrappers
Calvino Rabeni: Luckily I think the bottled water containers are recycled
Calvino Rabeni: because you see huge trucks of them
Calvino Rabeni: in the early morning, men clean the streets of the huge trash
Calvino Rabeni: it is like after a street fair or rock concert in the US
Mitzi Mimistrobell: when returning from India in 1973, I notice the extremely orderly and controlled world of traffic and driving in the US. And I must say, enjoyed it.
Mitzi Mimistrobell: YOu mean, every night, huge trash?
Calvino Rabeni: True - people are very casual about that here
Calvino Rabeni: Yes trash at night
Calvino Rabeni: But even in the airport, there is none of this "boarding by sections " business
Calvino Rabeni: it goes all at once :)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: oh yes? how is it done? Just cram together into the door?
Calvino Rabeni: Little standing on procedure, no matter where you go
Calvino Rabeni: just mill around, go thru the gate, like many merging queues
Calvino Rabeni: politeness substitutes for a lot of rule-following
Mitzi Mimistrobell: well that's probably helpful ...
Mitzi Mimistrobell: So you will have much to digest experientially when you return
Calvino Rabeni: stop light changes - crossing from wrong lane in fornt of others is fine, if you don't get in the way
    Mitzi Mimistrobell: if done politely
Calvino Rabeni: I think of it as a place where most things are commonsense and awareness based, not rule based
Calvino Rabeni: I should start my daily wander now Mitzi
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks for the meetup :)
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Yes Calvino! Wander with gusto! And contact mewhen you get back .
Calvino Rabeni: :) will do, be well ?|
    Calvino Rabeni: _/!\_
Mitzi Mimistrobell: Namaste to you too!
    Calvino Rabeni: bye :))
