    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi tarmel

    Tarmel Udimo: Hi there Yakuzza

    Tarmel Udimo: how goes it?

Yakuzza Lethecus: fine, we have a holiday today

    Yakuzza Lethecus: pfingsten

    Tarmel Udimo: oh really

Tarmel Udimo: whats that in celebration of?

    Yakuzza Lethecus: good question

Yakuzza Lethecus: holy spirit ? :)

    Tarmel Udimo: :)

    Tarmel Udimo: looking it up

Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, i was right, sending of the holy spirit

Yakuzza Lethecus: but i rarely visit the church and i am not so sure what everything means exactl

Yakuzza Lethecus: how are you ?

    Tarmel Udimo: I'm well tks

    Tarmel Udimo: its Whit Sunday

    Tarmel Udimo: and you?

Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, as i mentioned i am fine, still trying to find something sensefull to read

Tarmel Udimo: oh ok, what do you like?

Yakuzza Lethecus: that is the point i don't like that much

Yakuzza Lethecus: i try to pragmatically decide :)

Tarmel Udimo: oh thats a problem:)

Yakuzza Lethecus: even contemplation, dropping... it's also useful from a pragmatic point of view :)

Tarmel Udimo: sure, but there's nothing like a good read

Yakuzza Lethecus: only if you made it habitual

Tarmel Udimo: howvere I do find it harder these days

Tarmel Udimo: I remeber as a teenager I would just devour books from cover to cover

Yakuzza Lethecus: i define myself more as a kind of media junkie who tries to recreate it in a more senseful way

    Tarmel Udimo: oh ok

Tarmel Udimo: can you deconstruct this a bit more

Yakuzza Lethecus: oh, for example i have plenty groups of ppl over the internet i have contact too, for example i am still facinated how i got into my use of english through gaming

    Tarmel Udimo: yes?

Yakuzza Lethecus: and the openness and directness of ppl doing gaming is really facinating since it's so easy to join those communities

Yakuzza Lethecus: but you don't even really udnerstand those ppl

Tarmel Udimo: no its all about the game

Yakuzza Lethecus: or i have a rough time since they are only interested in exactly

    Yakuzza Lethecus: gaming

Tarmel Udimo: how much have you explored SL for other groups?

Yakuzza Lethecus: oh, those philosophie groups

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: i joined and still participate in a spanish class and alike

Yakuzza Lethecus: sl is different you got ppl from a totally different socio economic background and age structure in sl

Yakuzza Lethecus: especially pab is facinating since there are ppl intersted in poetry, painting, music, contemplation, science

    Tarmel Udimo: yes

Tarmel Udimo: I guess for me I have found it harder to learn a new language as you have

Yakuzza Lethecus: you don't need it

Tarmel Udimo: because everone speaks english

Yakuzza Lethecus: everyone is learning english

    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)

    Tarmel Udimo: yes its crazy

Tarmel Udimo: but there sure seem like there alot of germans in SL

Tarmel Udimo: why do you think that is?

    Yakuzza Lethecus: i mean eve

Yakuzza Lethecus: there are a few germans but i don't even visit german places

Yakuzza Lethecus: sl is for me a place to "get in touch with the world"

Yakuzza Lethecus: sadly only the western world

Yakuzza Lethecus: i have a few contacts from china as well but that's about it

Tarmel Udimo: yes there is that - very anglised

Tarmel Udimo: so would you consider yourself a buddhist?

Yakuzza Lethecus: and i can only communicate with those eastern ppl who are already able to speak english well

    Yakuzza Lethecus: no

Yakuzza Lethecus: i am interested in anything how we percieve our reality

Yakuzza Lethecus: and try to find ways who might lead into understanding different aspects better

    Tarmel Udimo: nods

Yakuzza Lethecus: so i might read a bit into the direction of phenomenology

Tarmel Udimo: and what do you think is reality?

Yakuzza Lethecus: and hope for serentipity's around here since ppl have kind of the same interest

    Yakuzza Lethecus: i'll never know

Yakuzza Lethecus: but even to learn words and about fields that have it as a topic at first elaboates my own language

Yakuzza Lethecus: so i am also intereested in the aspect of language and thought

    Tarmel Udimo: yes understand

Yakuzza Lethecus: still i don't know that much about it i have still a rough time finding literature about what i am exactly interested in

Yakuzza Lethecus: but after a while you hear about "neo whorfians" and alike

Tarmel Udimo: do you mean how language informs thought

Yakuzza Lethecus: i think it helps to structure it

    Tarmel Udimo: ? neo whorfians?

Yakuzza Lethecus: that our language influences the way we percieve the world

    Tarmel Udimo: hummm

Tarmel Udimo: do you mean by the words we use or the fact thats its english and not german for instance?

    Yakuzza Lethecus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapir%E...orf_hypothesis

Yakuzza Lethecus: no not that much anymore

Yakuzza Lethecus: it's funny yesterday i was in a struggle explaining somebody at a goete institut from germany what i am interested in in sl

Yakuzza Lethecus: i dind't know how to describle play as being as a contempletive place in sl as not too silly

    Tarmel Udimo: nods

    Yakuzza Lethecus: in german

    Tarmel Udimo: oh interesting

Yakuzza Lethecus: because all the german terms i had in mind have kind of a silly connotation

Tarmel Udimo: oh too associated with silly?

Yakuzza Lethecus: those german words that came to my mind

    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes

Tarmel Udimo: ok this is making sense now

Tarmel Udimo: and yet its feels a lot like the egg and the chicken situation

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: so actually it facinating for me that talking about the same thing can feel totally different depending on which language i use

Tarmel Udimo: yes I can see that clearly

Tarmel Udimo: and it must be overshadowed by the lanscape and environment too

Yakuzza Lethecus: and i don't do the same things in german and in english

    Yakuzza Lethecus: i think so

Yakuzza Lethecus: for example i have only contact to ppl interested in contemplative issues through second life

    Tarmel Udimo: ok

Yakuzza Lethecus: at least ppl engage those explicitly

Tarmel Udimo: but not in RL

Yakuzza Lethecus: not in an explicit way

    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes

    Tarmel Udimo: humm

Tarmel Udimo: but you live in a rural area and this could have something to do with this

Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, but it depends more on the social contacts

Tarmel Udimo: if you lived in a big city you would be able to find these people

Yakuzza Lethecus: bigger city's provied more possiblilites and you don't run into the same ppl all day

Yakuzza Lethecus: but even secondlife is not more then a big city where you run into the same ppl frequently .)

    Tarmel Udimo: well yes

Yakuzza Lethecus: it was funny when you tped moyra to ur space last time

Tarmel Udimo: I have to admit I don't visit many places

Tarmel Udimo: oh yes, why was that

Yakuzza Lethecus: because i knew her

    Tarmel Udimo: yes that's right

Tarmel Udimo: and yet we don't know that we all knew each other

Tarmel Udimo: hey that happens in RL

Yakuzza Lethecus: and didnt know that you both knew each other, so you bumb into the same ppl even tho there are ppl from around the world in sl

    Tarmel Udimo: yes

Yakuzza Lethecus: but only 1,4 million ppl logged on over the month

Yakuzza Lethecus: and even i have 1 alt

Yakuzza Lethecus: i know ppl with many more alts

    Tarmel Udimo: true

Yakuzza Lethecus: there are programs who control alts in shops and alike so i would wonder if there are more then 300k-500k active ppl in sl

Tarmel Udimo: wow hadn't thought about that

Yakuzza Lethecus: do you have an alt ?

    Tarmel Udimo: no only one

Yakuzza Lethecus: i have my sartre

Tarmel Udimo: I have thought of getting another because tarmel is so specific about her interests

Yakuzza Lethecus: i have one because of 1 pm :)

Yakuzza Lethecus: at 1 pm there are so many events

Tarmel Udimo: what do you mean?

    Yakuzza Lethecus: like on tuesdays

Tarmel Udimo: oh but can you be in tow places at once?

Yakuzza Lethecus: event on phil island at 12:30

    Yakuzza Lethecus: pab 1 pm

Yakuzza Lethecus: dream workshop 1 pm

Yakuzza Lethecus: phil class 1 pm

Yakuzza Lethecus: yes i can be at 2 places at the same time

Yakuzza Lethecus: still depending on the quality of discussion weather i can handle to sessions

Tarmel Udimo: so how do you keep it all together though, surely you must loose focus

    Yakuzza Lethecus: nods

Tarmel Udimo: (please excuse me for a moment - RL)

    Tarmel Udimo: ok back

    Yakuzza Lethecus: wb

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: /generally i don't try to learn anything in sl, i seek exposure with new topics in an unbiased way, there are facinating elements even that i am talking to an aussi right now :)

    Tarmel Udimo: hahaha

Tarmel Udimo: yes and me to a german

Yakuzza Lethecus: it feels kind of special and more sensful in a way that nobody is excluded, you don't have to invest money and literally anyone can participate

Tarmel Udimo: yes I guess that is one of the good things - building community spirit

Tarmel Udimo: and its how to deepend the expereince, otherwise it can be superficial

    Yakuzza Lethecus: nods

Yakuzza Lethecus: i gain plenty of book suggestions(which i don't really read)

Yakuzza Lethecus: scatch on many topics surfaces

Yakuzza Lethecus: it helps finding directions where i can elaboate upon further

    Yakuzza Lethecus: like explicitly phenomenologie

Yakuzza Lethecus: or books like thomas metzingers ego tunnel

    Tarmel Udimo: huh?

Yakuzza Lethecus: sure i also have suggestions in buddist and contemplative directions like shögeam trugpa's smile at fear

Tarmel Udimo: yes that's a good one

Yakuzza Lethecus: even tho it wasn't really written by him considering the fact that he's dead for 20 years

Tarmel Udimo: well being able to smile at fear does dissipate it

Yakuzza Lethecus: i alwas had a kind of naive picture of "virtue" of those buddists

Yakuzza Lethecus: but even trugpa was into alcohol

Yakuzza Lethecus: and died because of its effects, ppl around here gave me a much clearer picture that even those ppl are still "human"

    Yakuzza Lethecus: sounds really naive

    Tarmel Udimo: no its true

Yakuzza Lethecus: but somehow i always had a "glowing picture of virtue" around thsese buddist teachers :P

Tarmel Udimo: we expect them to saints

    Yakuzza Lethecus: nods

Tarmel Udimo: and most are just hardworking trying to be compassionate

Tarmel Udimo: but then life is simpler there than in the west

Tarmel Udimo: and it must be a terrible shock being in a western world

    Yakuzza Lethecus: i don't know

Yakuzza Lethecus: or is that just our expectation

Tarmel Udimo: yes, it would be espacially with ppl bowing down and turning them into 'gods'

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: / i have the feeling that the more i think about it the more i get a feeling that compassion and everything we seek is just already there and the seek for contemplation is a journey to break our daily routines in order to see whats already there

    Yakuzza Lethecus: it's tricky somehow

Yakuzza Lethecus: ok, i gonna run

Yakuzza Lethecus: take care, it was nice to talk to you!

Tarmel Udimo: alright yak have a good one

Tarmel Udimo: nice talking to you
