    Qt Core: Hi Bruce, Xeno
    Sartre Placebo: hey guys
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Xeno, Qt.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Sartre.
    Qt Core: Hi Sartre
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Sartre Placebo: 1:0 spain
    Qt Core: :-)
Bruce Mowbray: 4 p.m. Ohio, USA.
    Sartre Placebo: 10 pm
    --BELL--
    Wol Euler: evening all
    Sartre Placebo: hey wol
    Qt Core: hi Wol
    Xeno Octavia: hi Wol
Wol Euler: hello qt, sartre, xeno, bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Wol.
    Sartre Placebo: hi fef
Wol Euler: hello fef, I was just about to ask whose session this was :)
    Xeno Octavia: hi Fef
    Fefonz Quan: Hey all!
    Qt Core: Hi fef
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Fef.
Fefonz Quan: (mine mine mine :)
    Wol Euler: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Wol Euler nods encouragingly to Sartre.
Sartre Placebo: 10 minutes and we are out of the worldcup
Sartre Placebo: at least of the final
    Wol Euler: ??
Wol Euler: it was 0:0 last time I looked
    Fefonz Quan: who are 'we'?
    Sartre Placebo: yaku here
    Wol Euler: oh indeed
    Sartre Placebo: 1:0 for spain
    Wol Euler: ah well :)
    Fefonz Quan: ah, yes :)
Wol Euler: easy come, easy go
Fefonz Quan: well, till now you did very well!
    Wol Euler: hello cal
    Fefonz Quan: hey cal!
    Xeno Octavia: hi Calvi
    Sartre Placebo: hey cal
    Qt Core: hi cal
Wol Euler: I was predicting Germany against Holland in teh final
Calvino Rabeni: Hi, how goes it:) ?
    Xeno Octavia: what is 'it'?
Sartre Placebo: at least italy was out of the cup before us *hides from qt*
Wol Euler: probably a short form of "life, the universe and everything", xeno
    Wol Euler grins.
Xeno Octavia: ah was copying Fef
    Wol Euler: oh, sorry
    Wol Euler: (distracted)
    Xeno Octavia: np!
Qt Core: ;-) np. my onl;y regret not having made some bet about going out so early ;-)
Wol Euler: there are going to be some long faces in the office tomorrow
Wol Euler: I organized a world cup final pool :)
Fefonz Quan: it's not over till the fat lady sings :)
Wol Euler: tips handed in anonymously, collated by me
Wol Euler: it was unanimous that Germany meets Holland inthe final, but here was some disagreement about who would win :)
Xeno Octavia: hows Tibetan team from the film doing??
    Fefonz Quan: (brb)
    --BELL--
Bruce Mowbray muses to self: brb reminded me of Blub.
    Fefonz Quan: back
    Wol Euler: wb
Fefonz Quan: is that world cup silence playing as being here ? :)
Xeno Octavia: nah --u took the session so we waitn fer u!
    Wol Euler smiles
    Fefonz Quan: excuses here?
Wol Euler: so I was watching a video on YouTube (thanks Calvino) about photo-retouching in magazines and other media
    Xeno Octavia: ??
    Calvino Rabeni: YW Wol
Wol Euler: which stated that all photos in all media are retouched these days.
Wol Euler: changing the appearance of the person they supposedly document
    Xeno Octavia: make thyem truer!?
Wol Euler: what does true mean?
Qt Core: it is fun, we make pic woth digital cams taking hundreds of shot and we are still unable to shoot a good one ? ;-)
Xeno Octavia: truth is th enext lie i tell u --which is why they get truer as u make them lie
Calvino Rabeni: I think given that baseline trend, it's easy to understand the reactive fashion trends of appearing grotesque -
    Wol Euler nods.
Calvino Rabeni: at least we get a collective balance
Xeno Octavia: i did assume u ment relative truth not Absolute
    Calvino Rabeni: of stereotypes
Qt Core: if the shot is to make a face knows a little playing with thye light to make it easier to see isn't a problem... if you add hair to some prime minister who has only a few of them... ;)
Calvino Rabeni: So the grotesques are really, the other side of the same Face
Calvino Rabeni: which is presented in a fragmented or cubist manner
    Xeno Octavia: ??
    --BELL--
    Wol Euler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U
Calvino Rabeni: It reminds me of an old story by Stanslaw Lem - a prescient SF writer - about what people in the future did with the capability of genetic engineering of their own bodies
Bruce Mowbray muses to self: I wear a face light, being dark complexioned, otherwise my light side would appear to be my dark side - and I'd feel inside-out.
Calvino Rabeni: there became a time when "perfect" was just too boring, and they chased the essence of grotesque, as far as it could go
Calvino Rabeni: .. for a while...
    Wol Euler listens
Bruce Mowbray stops worrying about his dark side and listens.
Calvino Rabeni: And it became fashionable to have bizzarre, twisted, stubby bodies
Calvino Rabeni: and he catalogued all those phases
Calvino Rabeni: it was pretty interesting for early SF written from a fairly backward country
Calvino Rabeni: The found the Superman pattern to run out of interest pretty quickly
    Fefonz Quan: (backward counrty?)
Calvino Rabeni: Well, it was Poland, under communism, and they for example, did not have high technology
    Fefonz Quan: i see, thanks.
Calvino Rabeni: so all that was done with computers, or most of it, was done by "paper simulation"
Fefonz Quan: i guess it doesn't limit the imagination though
Calvino Rabeni: right, that is the amazing thing about it
Calvino Rabeni: for at least, that one author
Fefonz Quan: many great SF stories were written in the 40's/50's, before computer where common knowledge
Xeno Octavia: i red book on grotesque he had horrid car accident and almost to death burned then ib hospital met his 700 yr old girlfriend was a kkool book
Calvino Rabeni: That SF, is really I think, more like imagined historical novels of the future
Wol Euler grins. A nice desciption
Calvino Rabeni: It might be called better - speculative history
Fefonz Quan: or FF -0 future fiction
Wol Euler: the interesting thing about Lem (at least the books I
Xeno Octavia: all history is spec fict
Wol Euler: I've read) is that they are more social fiction than science fiction.
Wol Euler: Not so much "what tools will people use in future" but "how will they feel, htink, behave"
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
    Fefonz Quan nods
Xeno Octavia: makes one think there'll be a future --comforting
Fefonz Quan: (which reminds me that i got a mail saying yesterday was the day the delorian jumped into in 'back to the future' from 85
Qt Core: that's why i prefer "happy" sf, for thinking about grim future i buy newspapers
Calvino Rabeni: Ah, little doubt there will be one - the question is will you be able to "Have it Your Way" ?
Wol Euler: wow, that is a great geeky fact, fef!
Xeno Octavia: grim futere better than none
Fefonz Quan: indeed ;-) later i saw somebody says its a hoax, there are 5 more years to go
Wol Euler: it should be easy enough to verify. just rent hte film
Fefonz Quan: but it did make you think - being in the future of a movie you sawe in the 'present' past
Qt Core: sure Xeno, but at least in sf i can ask (and get) a nice future
Xeno Octavia: i live in [my para does] in happiest city in Us ---because they fake it well
Xeno Octavia: gawd nice is worsen grim
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: Xeno, you live in Sedona AZ :) ?
Xeno Octavia: i live in Prism Lila --my para lives in Boulder CO
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Bert.
    Qt Core: Hi Bertram
    Wol Euler: hello bert
Xeno Octavia: was declared happiest in study coupl amonths ago
    Sartre Placebo: hey bert
    Xeno Octavia: hi Bert
    Fefonz Quan: hi bert!
Bertram Jacobus: hi everybody - sry - am with a rl friend - only show tzhen disappear again ... *wave*
Wol Euler: hello bert's friend! welcome to Second life
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Bert's friend.
Wol Euler: it's free, you know :)
Xeno Octavia: let ya fren take yer av and join us : ))
Wol Euler: no subscription, no joining fee :)
Bertram Jacobus: he says hi everybody - have a nice time :-)
    Bertram Jacobus: in sl :-)
    Wol Euler: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Fefonz Quan: it just might cost a lot of time if you get in ;-)
Wol Euler: well, yes, there is that.
    Xeno Octavia: yes the threat
Bruce Mowbray: Speaking of costs, Fef has the lowest avatar rendering cost of any avi I've ever seen.
Bertram Jacobus: leave again - ty and sry for disturbing :-)
    Bruce Mowbray: Downright asetic.
Fefonz Quan: (how do you measure that Bruce?)
Wol Euler nods. Fef is a purist :)
Bruce Mowbray: in V2 -- if you have the "advanced" tab at top --
Wol Euler: ctrl-alt-D to get teh Advanced menu
Bruce Mowbray: (if not) hold CTRL-ALT-D to get it.
Fefonz Quan: well, i don't. id on't even sure i know what you mean...
Wol Euler: then Advanced/Rendering/Info display/Avatar Rendering Cost
Bruce Mowbray: then... Click advanced tab - then performance -then avatar rendering cost.
Xeno Octavia: its 1 --would have ta get ta 0
Fefonz Quan: i only see 1 over my avi, how can i see yours?
Bruce Mowbray muses: one notes such things if he/she has slow internet connection.
Wol Euler: it's hidden in our tags, cam about
    Sartre Placebo: good night
Wol Euler: you can see best from right above the av
Bruce Mowbray: Fef -- your ARC is 100.
    Wol Euler: 'night sartre
Bruce Mowbray: and it's good to get rid of the names...
Xeno Octavia: look at any of us
Bruce Mowbray: so you can see the numbers.
    Fefonz Quan: night Sartre
Xeno Octavia: sart the winner at 424 thouo
Fefonz Quan: wol is about 6000, isn't it?
Qt Core: i see her at 10210
Wol Euler: different viewers calculate differently, alas.
Xeno Octavia: is 294 thou in emerald
Wol Euler: the old viewer1 would show me at around 6k
Bruce Mowbray: Wol is 10210 in V2.
Wol Euler: emerald shows me at 275k
Wol Euler: nothing so useless as an inconsistent tool
Xeno Octavia: yes shows me that too
Bruce Mowbray: High arc makes for laggy-poo.
Fefonz Quan: so it's in the eyes of the beholder then
Calvino Rabeni: hmm, you realize, it probably correlates with your carbon footprint, and environmental impact
Wol Euler: not necessarily, bruce. THe sheer number of avs has the greatest effect
Bruce Mowbray: Oh? I am learning all the time. Thanks.
Bruce Mowbray: also bling and orbiters, I hear.
Xeno Octavia: and carbon tread prints worsen footprints generally
Fefonz Quan: so now my plain fitting is exposed...
Bruce Mowbray: sorry, Fef. I was showing some arc-envy there.
Bruce Mowbray: lower would be better fo my ISP connection.
    Qt Core: hi Aphrodite
Bruce Mowbray: SL says I shouldn't even try to get on with a satellite connection.
Fefonz Quan: what's next: blinking the cost of eaveryone's costumes in public?
    Xeno Octavia: hi Aphro
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Aph!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi dude!
    Wol Euler: hello aphrodite
Wol Euler: have you been here before?
    Fefonz Quan: hello aphrodite
Bruce Mowbray: Aph's ARC (in V2) is 3842.
Aphrodite Macbain: Hellow woland Fefonz and Calvino
    Aphrodite Macbain: How embarrasing
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Qt Core: from Siiena, Aphrodite ?
    Fefonz Quan: what's ambarrasing?
    Aphrodite Macbain: No Siena
    Fefonz Quan: e*
Bruce Mowbray confesses his ARC envy for Fef's.
Qt Core: m'e' giusto scappata una i ;-)
Aphrodite Macbain: Having such a high ARC
    --BELL--
Wol Euler: it's a meaningless statistic, don'T worry.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Davero?
Fefonz Quan: well, some might claim the opposite :)
    Fefonz Quan: (to Aphro)
Aphrodite Macbain: On. Not knowing anything about arcs I have no way of judging
Fefonz Quan: (and we still should know if you've been here before)
Aphrodite Macbain: Am I interrupting a good conversation
Bruce Mowbray: No no -- You're fine, Pah.
Fefonz Quan: not interapting, not at all
Xeno Octavia: no intruptin 90 sec silence lol
    Bruce Mowbray: Aph.
Wol Euler: Aphrodite, have you been here before?
Aphrodite Macbain: No. Bruce told me about it this morning
Qt Core: we where just wondering how much carbon footprint ah high arc avatar has
Fefonz Quan: it's just that we ercord our conversations here, and put them on the web, so we have to ask your permission to be recorded
    Aphrodite Macbain: I was fascinated
Wol Euler: did he tell you that we record these sessions and publish them on our website, http://wiki.playasbeing.org/
Aphrodite Macbain: for me to be recorded?
    Bruce Mowbray: for the website.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Audio or text?
    Wol Euler: text only
    Bruce Mowbray: text.
    Fefonz Quan: text
Wol Euler: and only your SL name
Aphrodite Macbain: I have no problem with that
Xeno Octavia: audio would b just clickings
    Wol Euler: good, ty
    Fefonz Quan: great
Fefonz Quan: if you want some music around, you can arrange Cal :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Oh god. Because I keep getting fedback/echos with live voice
    Fefonz Quan: (Xeno i meant)
Wol Euler nods. Voice is a nice idea but it just doesn't work properly
Xeno Octavia: i were juss kidding , fef
Aphrodite Macbain: Glad I'mot the only one with this problem
Aphrodite Macbain: Yesterday Bruce could just hear my heavy breathing. !
    Bruce Mowbray: Loved it, too.
Qt Core: wondering how much bytes would be the entire pab archive in voice...
Fefonz Quan: you should know that our sessions take place 4 times a day, at 1am, 7pm, 7am, 1pm
    Aphrodite Macbain: ;-)
    Xeno Octavia: well rounded
Fefonz Quan: and most of the time they take around 1 hour
Bruce Mowbray: every six hours -- 'round the globe.
Aphrodite Macbain: Nice, and amazing. That you can do this so regularly
Xeno Octavia: we is more than us : )
Fefonz Quan: so just don't get offended if some will leave soon
Wol Euler: for over two years already :)
Fefonz Quan: well surely we don't attend all the sessions :)
Bruce Mowbray: The sum of we is greater than each us of us.
Aphrodite Macbain: May I ask what countries are represented here now?
    Wol Euler: germany
    Bruce Mowbray: USA.
Aphrodite Macbain: we are greater than the sum of our parts
    Qt Core: italy
    Xeno Octavia: possibly US
Fefonz Quan is from Israel, but doesn't commit to represent it
    Aphrodite Macbain: POSSIBLY?
Bruce Mowbray: Pema is in Japan -- but he's probably just waking up.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Canada
Xeno Octavia: and he's not japanese --or here right now
    Bruce Mowbray: yes.
Calvino Rabeni: I live in the US but am not an official representative of that nation :)
Aphrodite Macbain: QT -dove abiti in Italia?
Fefonz Quan: i wouldn't think of any of us as representative though
    Qt Core: vicino a Milano
    Aphrodite Macbain: no conosco Milano
    Aphrodite Macbain: no
    Aphrodite Macbain: non
    Bruce Mowbray: Espana.
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
    Aphrodite Macbain: Espana?
Bruce Mowbray: Milano -- Oh Italia!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Si
    Aphrodite Macbain: Milan
Bruce Mowbray: Blub hails from Oceania.
    Wol Euler: :)
Qt Core: yes, the fashion capital ;-)
Aphrodite Macbain: Suddenly I have a split screen anyone know why?
    Bruce Mowbray: nope.
    Wol Euler: cool
Fefonz Quan: i just paid attention to the similar shirts Bruce and Aphrodite have
    Aphrodite Macbain: of fish
Wol Euler: what's in the other half?
    Xeno Octavia: u broke it??
Bruce Mowbray: I a free one for you if you want it.
Aphrodite Macbain: Bruce gave me this. I like it alot. I wear it with many of my outfits
    Fefonz Quan: nice :) thanks!
Bruce Mowbray: Look out - It will raise your ARC, Fef.
Xeno Octavia: i have friend whose a polar bzear from peru
Aphrodite Macbain: Goes with my eyes
    Wol Euler: hehehe
Aphrodite Macbain: QT why are you still loading?
Fefonz Quan: some folks here will be dazzled if i change my shirt, not sure i'll take that risk :)
Wol Euler: I was just thinking that°!
    Qt Core: no, why ?
Bruce Mowbray: I changed mine during the session and lowered by ARC by 200.
Aphrodite Macbain: dazzled by what exactly?
    Bruce Mowbray: my.
Fefonz Quan: i'll have to go to sleep now, it's past midnight here.
Aphrodite Macbain: Is that what it's about? Lowering our ARC?
Wol Euler: goodnight fef, take care.
Fefonz Quan: good to see all of you guys here
    Xeno Octavia: g'nite Fef
Qt Core: bye Fef, sleep well
    Bruce Mowbray: G'night, Fef.
    Fefonz Quan: _/!\_
Aphrodite Macbain: Is it like reducing our environmental footprint?
Wol Euler is looking to raise hers.
Bruce Mowbray: Can someone tell me if this place is the "Pavillion"?
Aphrodite Macbain: Nite nice meeting you!
Bruce Mowbray: I need to find it for tomorrow's Time as Magic session.
Wol Euler: lots of different names, bruce. Most of us call it the "playgoda"
Calvino Rabeni: This is the pavillion
    Bruce Mowbray: OK. TY!
    --BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: you go to so many interesting sessions.
    Fefonz Quan: PaBillion :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Why do they have a bell every 15 minutes?
Wol Euler: [14:14] Play as Being 15 minute bell: Please observe 90 seconds of silence.
    Wol Euler: that's why.
Xeno Octavia: to b silent for 90 secs
Wol Euler: in theory we stop talking and meditate for 90 secs
    Aphrodite Macbain: hmmm
Xeno Octavia: incxludes stop txting : ))
    Aphrodite Macbain: ;-0
Bruce Mowbray: actually, in the Play as Being practice, one observes the play for nine seconds every 15 minutes - not 90.
Bruce Mowbray: but here it's 90.
Xeno Octavia: then why not 900
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Aphrodite Macbain: I'd fall asleep
Qt Core: we are playing more here ;-)
Aphrodite Macbain: When we sart again I want to know what is involved in playing
    Aphrodite Macbain: start
Xeno Octavia: 1/2 my home sim is play --divine play --Lila
Bruce Mowbray: We've started --- but I will send you the wiki page so you can read up on it.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Tx
Aphrodite Macbain: I'll watch and learn today
    Bruce Mowbray: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/
    Aphrodite Macbain: Tx Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: yw.
Wol Euler: my dears, I need to move on. It's been a long and tiring day.
    Wol Euler: goodnight ,take care.
    Bruce Mowbray: rest --
Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now, Wol.
Qt Core: bye Wol, sleep well
    Aphrodite Macbain: Nite wol
Xeno Octavia: i been thinkin same bout my leavering too!
Bruce Mowbray: Be well, Xeno.... Look out for those paradoxes!
    Xeno Octavia: so9 nite all : ))
Qt Core: it may be contagious ;-)

    Aphrodite Macbain: Buena sera
    Aphrodite Macbain: notte!
    Aphrodite Macbain: buona
Bruce Mowbray: This morning there was a "themed" session. Do you have them in the afternoons also?
Calvino Rabeni: Well Bruce, hope to talk more at some point - I was a little distracted by an IM conversation
Bruce Mowbray: OK. 'bout time for me to scratch up some dinner myself.
Aphrodite Macbain: Gotta go and pick my first strawberry in my garden.
    Bruce Mowbray: Wonderful!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Summer's now here!
Bruce Mowbray: See you both soon, I hope.
    Aphrodite Macbain: CU all
    Bruce Mowbray: G'night!
