The Guardian for this meeting was Paradise Tennant. The comments are by Bruce,Calvino, Lucinda and Bobby.

Paradise Tennant: hello :) have you been to PAB before ?
Paradise Tennant: ahh then you know the discussion is recorded and you are ok with that :)
    Paradise Tennant: welcome :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh yes.
Bruce Mowbray: How are you, Oaradise?
    Bruce Mowbray: Paradise.
Paradise Tennant: very well thanks drinking a cup of tea ..have been meditating ..this is a lovely quiet spot :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Yes it is.
Paradise Tennant: the last time you were here ..what interested you most ?
Bruce Mowbray: This morning we had a wonderful chat - a chat of many colors (haha!)
Paradise Tennant: smiles yep that happens here a lot .. a meandering of sorts through all manner of topics .. :)
Bruce Mowbray: It's difficult to answer your question ... I enjoy listening to so many differen viewpoints. . . and the global connections, of course.
Bruce Mowbray: I'd probably need to go back and read the records to remember precisely.
Paradise Tennant: very cool part of sl ..you end up with friends who are real friends all over the world
Paradise Tennant: you been to the wiki page ?
Bruce Mowbray: You know, one of the things I enjoy most is the breaks.
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh yes.
    Paradise Tennant: me too
Bruce Mowbray: I've done lots of reading of past events and chats.
Paradise Tennant: ahh kk .. some of them are very funny and very informative this group is full of interesting folk :)
Bruce Mowbray: excuse me a minute -- It's hot here and I need to turn on a fan...
    Bruce Mowbray: brb
    Paradise Tennant: ok
    Bruce Mowbray: There. That's better.
Paradise Tennant: was 42 degrees here today .. so hot it is illegal to work outside :)
Paradise Tennant: been warm all over
Bruce Mowbray: Oh my. That's REALLY hot.
Paradise Tennant: yes I am in toronto .. so for us that is really hot !
Bruce Mowbray: We're having a cold front move through right now -- bringing rain and cooler temps for tomorrow.
Bruce Mowbray: I wanted to turn on the fan to pull in the cool air.
Paradise Tennant: nods free air conditioning .the best kind
Bruce Mowbray: yep. This afternoon I spent at the public library -- let them pay for the A/C and the internet connection.
    Paradise Tennant: smiles perfect
Paradise Tennant: are you a quaker bruce ?
Paradise Tennant: just reading your profile :)
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I attend Quaker Meetings in RL and conduct them here in SL, but I'm not "officially" a Quaker.
Bruce Mowbray: I enjoy meditating with Friends in both Rl and SL.
Paradise Tennant: ahh my father was a quaker and in fact our family was quaker for the last well since 1638 I think that is a ways back
Bruce Mowbray: Oh my goodness! Well, then, how about U?
Paradise Tennant: yes they are always a nice group use to find the meetings really quiet when I was a kid .. would fall asleep .. and then get promptly pinched !
    Bruce Mowbray: Ha!
Paradise Tennant: actually I am a more budddhist but I find the quaker sense very appealing
Bruce Mowbray: Yes. I also feel that way. . . But here in southern Ohio it's easier to find Quakers than to find Buddhists to sit with.
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Bruce Mowbray: My Meeting is 27 miles away, but the closest Buddhist group is almost 50 miles away.
    Paradise Tennant: yikes
Bruce Mowbray: yeah. I do go to some Buddhist activities in Columbus, though -- now and then.
Paradise Tennant: I belong to a very small rl group we listen to both the teachings of sogyal rinpoche and dongsar rinpoche .. nice way to spend monday nites :)
Bruce Mowbray: I listen to Buddhist podcasts all the time - especially when I'm out walking.
    Bruce Mowbray: wonderful.
    Paradise Tennant: yes me too
Bruce Mowbray: I especially enjoy the dharm podcasts from the Zen Center in New Mexico -- Upaya.
    Bruce Mowbray: dharma.
Bruce Mowbray: They have a very broad range of speakers.
Paradise Tennant: cool do you have a link :)
Bruce Mowbray: I am finding it now.
Bruce Mowbray: I have a satellite connection out here in the country, and whenever we have "bad" weather it disconnects...
Bruce Mowbray: OK -- here it is:
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.upaya.org/programs/
Bruce Mowbray: You can find the link to the podcasts from there...
Paradise Tennant: looks like a great site :)
Bruce Mowbray: Some of the podcasts are really amazing. I was listening to one today about poetry -- incrdibly good.
Bruce Mowbray: They also have quite a concentration in neuro-biology -- and have leading world experts in that field come and give workshops.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Calvino.
Paradise Tennant: so science letures too :)
Paradise Tennant: hiya cal .. :)
Calvino Rabeni: Bruce, hello, how is it going?
Bruce Mowbray: Yes -- many different fields.
    Calvino Rabeni: Paradise :)
Bruce Mowbray: Very well, thanks, Cal.
Paradise Tennant: gil fronsdale is another good speaker all things buddhist http://www.audiodharma.org/teacher/1/
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks for that heads-up, Paradise.
Paradise Tennant: he is funny ..dongsar rinpoche is funny too :) like that a lot :)
Paradise Tennant: how are you tonight cal :)
Calvino Rabeni: I'm well - have been taking a sauna all day - I'm getting pretty relaxed by now :) - all our houses have turned into saunas
    Paradise Tennant: yikes
Paradise Tennant: was hot here to day too 42 but the air conditioning is cranking .. and keeping up :)
Calvino Rabeni: nice - there are no AC here, except in offices and stores
    Paradise Tennant: ouch
Calvino Rabeni: It's about temperature of the human body
Calvino Rabeni: I was trying to think of it as "cosy"
Paradise Tennant: smiles always wise to be positive
Calvino Rabeni: Yes! And if that doesnt' work, learn to enjoy suffering
Calvino Rabeni: There's a knack to it
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: I have learned from the best :)
    Paradise Tennant: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Happiness is often simply a decision.
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, like a lot of those decisions, it takes commitment
    Calvino Rabeni: maybe "work"
Paradise Tennant: hmm think suffering and joy are really pretty much the same thing ..just a shift in perspective
    Bruce Mowbray: yes, and follow-through.
    Calvino Rabeni: right :)
Calvino Rabeni: after the decision, comes ... ?
Bruce Mowbray: I experience a 'momentum' with both suffering and with happiness.
Bruce Mowbray: I can get on a roll with either of them...
Calvino Rabeni: I know what you mean , surely
    Paradise Tennant: listens
Bruce Mowbray wonders if Blub would enjoy being here tonight.
Bruce Mowbray decises to wake him up.
    Bruce Mowbray: decides.
    Paradise Tennant: smiles ..
Bruce Mowbray: He enjoys human company.
Bruce Mowbray: I ask him to be still when we meditate, though.
Calvino Rabeni: Blub looks a little like radar for the space around your avatar
    Paradise Tennant: cute !
Bruce Mowbray: yeah. He's good company for an old hermit like myself.
Bruce Mowbray: More and more I am learning to inter-be with all species of all kingdoms. . . trees, especially.
Bruce Mowbray: equinimity with all of them -- even mosquitoes.
Calvino Rabeni: Can you give some tips on how to do that?
Calvino Rabeni: Trees, please, not the mosquitoes
Bruce Mowbray: It helps a lot if you let the tree know you are listening to it.
    Calvino Rabeni: first ... listen
Paradise Tennant: smiles and listens .. feels the fern beside her perk up too :)
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, it is quite important that the tree - or fern - know that you're paying attention to it -- with open-mind.
Bruce Mowbray: Trees are very wise -- having lived through so many kinds of weather -- lighting, winds, snows...
Bruce Mowbray: Ferns are even older -- being among the oldest plants on the planet -- older than dinosaurs. They have quite a lineage.
Bruce Mowbray: Every leaf - a blessing.
Calvino Rabeni: Calvino Rabeni returns from patting the top of 20' high rhododendron
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Calvino Rabeni: I know how to know, but don't know how to know the tree knows I know
Bruce Mowbray: The tree will tell you.
Calvino Rabeni: really that's simpler than it sounds
Bruce Mowbray: yes, it is much simpler.
Paradise Tennant: if you are listening ? you can here ?
Bruce Mowbray: You and the tree share much -- like the air, for example.
Calvino Rabeni: well yes. We both create around us an envelope of atmosphere
Bruce Mowbray: The auras of trees -- or of a whole forest - are increible.
    Bruce Mowbray: incredible.
    Bruce Mowbray: So much LIFE!
Bruce Mowbray: Folks ask if there is any noise when a tree falls but no one is there to hear it.
Bruce Mowbray: What a dumb question.
Bruce Mowbray: There are millions of forest beings there to HEAR it!
Bruce Mowbray: Paradise and I were talking about Buddhists and Quakers before you arrived, Calvino.
Bruce Mowbray: I neglected to tell her than in addition to Quaker and Buddhist, I am also a pantheist.
    Paradise Tennant: blinks pantheist?
    Calvino Rabeni: or panentheiist?
Bruce Mowbray: They asked me that at the seminary, too.
Paradise Tennant: Pantheism is the view that the Universe (Nature) and God are identical, or that the Universe (including Nature on Earth) is the only thing deserving the deepest kind of reverence. The word derives from the (') meaning "All" and ' ('') meaning "God" - literally "All is God. ...
Bruce Mowbray: Pantheist -- not panentheist.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes. Pantheist -- by that definition.
Bruce Mowbray: Nothing is outside the whole.
Bruce Mowbray: No separation of things divine and not divine.
Paradise Tennant: smiles and glances over at her divine fern and infinitely divine puppy :)
Bruce Mowbray: Puppies are ESPECIALLY divine! ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: I confess more leanings to panentheism
    Calvino Rabeni: FYI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panentheism
    Bruce Mowbray: Cool.
Bruce Mowbray: I will check that out after our session. Thanks.
Calvino Rabeni: I heard a story yesterday from friends, I think you could relate to it
Calvino Rabeni: It has trees :)
Calvino Rabeni: Some friends built a sweat lodge
Calvino Rabeni: all of them were men
Calvino Rabeni: except there was one young woman
Calvino Rabeni: who brought some feminine element to the building of it
Calvino Rabeni: she went into the lodge
Calvino Rabeni: and the ground had been cut recently
Calvino Rabeni: what was found on the ground was hundreds of tiny roots from the surrounding trees
Calvino Rabeni: and the floor needed to be flat
    Calvino Rabeni: WB Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: unstable atmospherics -- breaks my internet connection. sorry.
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya lucinda :) gtsy
    Bruce Mowbray: Welcome, Lucinda.
Lucinda Lavender: Hi Paradise, CAlvino, Bruce, Glub
    Lucinda Lavender: oops blub
Calvino Rabeni: the young woman took a nail clipper and went to the fllor of the lodge
Calvino Rabeni: each rootlet, she clipped it off just under the ground
Calvino Rabeni: after cutting each tiny root, she touched the cut tip with the tip of her own finger, very delicately for a second
Calvino Rabeni: to seal the wound
Calvino Rabeni: so that is the quality of the floor of that sweat lodge
Calvino Rabeni: no one will forget it either
Calvino Rabeni: such a tiny gesture
Calvino Rabeni: of feeling for the sensitivity of those trees
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Bobby.
Calvino Rabeni: none of the men would have thought of doing it either
    Bobby Couerblanc: Hi
Paradise Tennant: hello bobby welcome ..have you been to pab before :)
Bruce Mowbray: Good to see you again.
    Bobby Couerblanc: yes
    Bobby Couerblanc: Once
Paradise Tennant: you remember that conversations are recorded and you are ok with that :)
Calvino Rabeni: Lucinda did you find a replacement for Friday?
Lucinda Lavender: No not yet Cal...
Paradise Tennant: this friday tomorrow ?
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
Paradise Tennant: ok I will take it :)
    Lucinda Lavender: So nice Paradise!
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Lucinda Lavender: Just for this week...
Lucinda Lavender: I have to do some shopping .
    Lucinda Lavender: For tile.
Paradise Tennant: ahh important shopping :)
Lucinda Lavender: I told Lia I would be willing to do fridays at 7 pm if they wanted.
    Paradise Tennant: So nice Lucinda!
Lucinda Lavender: Not sure I am fully ready for the responsibility...
Lucinda Lavender: but am willing if they need it
    Bruce Mowbray: Welcome, Hokon.
    Hokon Cazalet: hi =)

Bobby Couerblanc: Can anyone see Bruce, or is it just me.
Bruce Mowbray: Folks -- Do I appear as a cloud to anyone?
Bobby Couerblanc: He looks like a cloud.
    Bobby Couerblanc: to me
Paradise Tennant: smiles looks ok to me
    Hokon Cazalet: i see bruce
Bobby Couerblanc: Maybe it's just me.
Paradise Tennant: your connection acting up ?
Bobby Couerblanc: Everyone else looks okay except Bruce.
Bruce Mowbray: I thought it was MY connection! ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: I'm looking at the detailed image of the tiger - it reminds me of a temple called "tiger cave temple"
Paradise Tennant: in thailand cal ?
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
Calvino Rabeni: I have a black t-shirt with the image of a tiger that came from there
Calvino Rabeni: the tiger no longer lives there
Lucinda Lavender: but the community remembers him?
Bruce Mowbray: ;-) I just made my t-shirt tongiht -- before this session!
    Paradise Tennant: synchronicity :)
    Lucinda Lavender: nice Bruce
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
    Bruce Mowbray: cool. synchronicity!
Lucinda Lavender: that word has a city in it...
    Bruce Mowbray: yep
    Bobby Couerblanc: A great subject
    Paradise Tennant: it does!
Lucinda Lavender: which dream is that?
Calvino Rabeni: and "sin" ... and Time
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
    Bruce Mowbray: yep yep.
Bobby Couerblanc: Do you know who coined the word?
    Bruce Mowbray: Jung.
    Bobby Couerblanc: :)
    Lucinda Lavender: was it Jung?
    Bobby Couerblanc: right
    Hokon Cazalet: yup
    Bobby Couerblanc: !!
Bruce Mowbray: The quantum physicists are turning synchronicity inside-out.
Lucinda Lavender: Has anyone ever dreamed of Jung?
    Bruce Mowbray: not I.
Paradise Tennant: smiles not and remembered it
    Calvino Rabeni: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity
Paradise Tennant: did you lucinda .. thanks cal always enjoy the links :)
Lucinda Lavender: I know a oerson who dreamed of being in his study with his books...
Bruce Mowbray: The concepts of mythos and archytype are powerful for me.
Paradise Tennant: ahh so we are delving into meaning .. without necessarily the strings of cause and effects :)
Lucinda Lavender: sounds like they dropped the cause and effect.
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: yes.
    Paradise Tennant: how so bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Well, perhaps we "feel" an archetype when we have a synchronicity experience. a sort of A ha!
    Bruce Mowbray: It goes deep.
    Bruce Mowbray: connects.
Lucinda Lavender: because it speaks to us?
Lucinda Lavender: or evokes a response...
Bruce Mowbray: mmmmm... let me feel a response to your '?'
Bruce Mowbray: As with the I-ching (which Jung wrote a long introduction to - and in which he used the term 'archytype.'
Bruce Mowbray: Connects -- as the I-Ching connects...
Bruce Mowbray: "The taming power of the small."
Lucinda Lavender: wish I could remember what that taming power is made of...
Paradise Tennant: smiles there is a group here of folks that meet once a month to talk about I chng pila runs it
Bruce Mowbray: like thr frond of the fern, Paradise.
    Paradise Tennant: pila mullligan
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks, I will look for that.
Calvino Rabeni: I don't know if is considered an archetype, but everyone has "roots" for instance
Bruce Mowbray: Perhaps it is because both the tree and humans have "roots" that we are able to communicate with each other -- we share that archetype.
Bruce Mowbray: or am I branching out in a delusional direction?
Lucinda Lavender: And we have seedness.
    Bruce Mowbray: Yes!
    Bruce Mowbray: seedness.
Calvino Rabeni: The tree would see our feet / toes as "roots", and not be incorrect about the analogy
Bruce Mowbray: Ha! The tree would also see some of us as shady characters.
Lucinda Lavender: and we pass on our seedness generationally
Calvino Rabeni: Not at all Bruce - the archetype connects
Lucinda Lavender: making more of ourselfes
Paradise Tennant: is going to dream of trees ... :)
Bruce Mowbray: yes, I agree that the arch. connects -- very much so.
Paradise Tennant: getting late here I will say good nite and thank you for the conversation :)
Lucinda Lavender: In the work I study...good night and thanks Paradase!
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks you, Tennat. Good to be with you tonight.
    Lucinda Lavender: paradise...
    Bobby Couerblanc: good night
Paradise Tennant: smiles namaste to all :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Good night, Paradise!/\
    Calvino Rabeni: _/!\_
Bruce Mowbray: Are yo a Jungian scholar, Bobby?
    Bruce Mowbray: you.
    Bobby Couerblanc: No
Bobby Couerblanc: The concept of synchronicity intiques me.
    Bobby Couerblanc: intrigues*
    Bruce Mowbray: me too.
Lucinda Lavender: have you a story to tell about that?
Bobby Couerblanc: I think Scott Peck mentioned it in one of his books.
Bobby Couerblanc: The author of the Road Less Traveled.
    Bruce Mowbray: yes.
Bruce Mowbray: I have felt for a long time -- perhaps it's just a superstition - but I have felt hat synchronicities tell me that I am on the right path.
Bruce Mowbray: They are a sort of confirmation.
Bruce Mowbray: Sometimes I will be perplexed about something -- then there will suddenly be three things that synch -- like the words of a song on the car radio, a billboard, and a thought in my head... all at once.
Bobby Couerblanc: I was just talking to a friend on Facebook who talks about Godincidences.
    Bruce Mowbray: Powie!
    Bobby Couerblanc: right
    Bruce Mowbray: God-incidences.
Bobby Couerblanc: It all comes together at once.
    Bobby Couerblanc: yes
    Lucinda Lavender: brb...
Bruce Mowbray: there feels to be something transcendent about it -- Maybe that's what your friend means.
Bruce Mowbray: as if a thread were joining together three disparate things into one tapestry.
Bruce Mowbray: reminding us that there is no separation.
Bruce Mowbray: except in our own illusions.
    Bobby Couerblanc: brb
Bruce Mowbray: Tis almost midnight here -- and so I'll be to bed.
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks to you all for being here tonight.
    Calvino Rabeni: THank you Bruce
Calvino Rabeni: Sleep well, see you again
Bruce Mowbray: Namaste, Lucinda, Calvino, and Bobby.
    Calvino Rabeni: _/!\_
    Lucinda Lavender: Bye to Bruce!
Lucinda Lavender: I have had a very long day and soon I should go.
Calvino Rabeni: Same here - I think I melted in the heat
    Bobby Couerblanc: me too
Lucinda Lavender: and on the computer it is warm too
Calvino Rabeni: There may be a cool breeze outdoors
Lucinda Lavender: Bobby are you a west coast person?
Lucinda Lavender: we are finally getting the heat
Bobby Couerblanc: I work in three time zones.
    Bobby Couerblanc: Domestic traveler.
    Lucinda Lavender: ah!
    Bobby Couerblanc: Presently EST
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Bobby Couerblanc: Live on the East Coast.
Lucinda Lavender: I heat the east is very hot
Bobby Couerblanc: An you are East Coast?
Calvino Rabeni: You have no AC, Lucinda, I guess
    Lucinda Lavender: no west
    Bobby Couerblanc: No A/C?
    Calvino Rabeni: Air conditioning
Lucinda Lavender: no ac but we are rumming the furnace with no heat for air flow
    Lucinda Lavender: seems to help
Bobby Couerblanc: In the desert states they use swamp coolers.
    Bobby Couerblanc: MST zone
Lucinda Lavender: yes I remember that from a place in Tucson
    Bobby Couerblanc: Works pretty well.
Bobby Couerblanc: Attic fan blows air through the house.
    Lucinda Lavender: nice name too
    Bobby Couerblanc: haha
Lucinda Lavender: I always imagined the swamp beings in it
Lucinda Lavender: not sure but heat seems to intensify everyone
Calvino Rabeni: a personal swamp cooler is to put on a wet t-shirt and sit in front of the fan
    Bobby Couerblanc: lol
Lucinda Lavender: particularly the develomentally disabled who live next door
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    Lucinda Lavender: yes Cal
    Bobby Couerblanc: bye
    Calvino Rabeni: Goodbye
Lucinda Lavender: interesting...one can walk on water
Calvino Rabeni: can't quite cool off that way sadly
    Bobby Couerblanc: ok
Lucinda Lavender: Iwill see you all later
