The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.  Attending were: Pema, Eos, Wol, Ewan, Dream, Yazukka, Arabella, Wester, Stevenaia, Darren, and MarkMonet.

    Pema Pera: hi Bruce!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Pema.
Bruce Mowbray: I sure hope I'm doing this right.

Pema Pera: so fare so good :-)
    Pema Pera: *far
Pema Pera: (I saw that you just claimed the session successfully)
Bruce Mowbray: I've just claimed the session -- Will it be sent to my email address?
Pema Pera: yes, if you gave it your email address
Bruce Mowbray: yes, I did. OK, we're all set, then.
Pema Pera: thanks for doing this!
Pema Pera: it may look a bit complex at first, like everything you do for the first time, but you'll get used to it quickly
Bruce Mowbray: My honor and treat!
Bruce Mowbray: I've just come from a RL Quaker Meeting.
Pema Pera: basically you can just cut and paste what you get sent and put it directly on the wiki -- and if you like, you can then add comments, which of course is more work but also more fun!
Pema Pera: how was that meeting?
Bruce Mowbray: It was a wonderful Meeting.
Bruce Mowbray: Some wonderful folks and wonderful energy in the group.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Eos!
    Pema Pera: hi Eos!
Pema Pera: do you often go?
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, every Sunday afternoon in Circleville, Ohio.
Bruce Mowbray: How are you, Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: Hi, Bruce and Pema!
Pema Pera: I really should attend some of those meetings too -- from all I hear there is a lot of common ground with our PaB meetings here
Pema Pera: (talking about Quaker meetings, Eos)
    Eos Amaterasu: Ah!
Bruce Mowbray: absolutely there is common ground.
Bruce Mowbray: I especially like Quakers' respect for the silence.
Eos Amaterasu: emptying out is common ground
Bruce Mowbray: indeed. But as with all spiritual traditions, there is broad diversity with Quakers.
Bruce Mowbray: Some are atheistic pantheists -- some are Christ-centered conservatives.
Bruce Mowbray: A FUN lot, altogether!
Pema Pera: but they tolerate the diversity well, I gather?
Bruce Mowbray: They tolerate diversity very well -- and encourage it, at least in the groups I've been part of.
    Pema Pera: that's great!
    Pema Pera: Hi Wol !
Eos Amaterasu thinks about pan-everywhere theists
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Wol!
    Wol Euler: good afternoon!
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Wol
Pema Pera: What a quick reunion of the PaB retreat -- with Eos, Wol and me here already!
Bruce Mowbray: How are you this afternoon, Wol?
Eos Amaterasu: there really isn't very far to go
Wol Euler: wobbly. 31 hours traveling on six hours sleep.
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh my!
Wol Euler: I'm trying to stay up to a reasonable local bedtime
Pema Pera: that will be very soon, I bet!
    Wol Euler: heheh
Bruce Mowbray: You folks have had a wonderful week. It was great fun being part of that on Friday morning.
    Pema Pera: :-)
Eos Amaterasu: we are continuing, just changing gears
Wol Euler: very true, Bruce. It was marvelous.
Bruce Mowbray: Coming down from the mountain. . .
Pema Pera: that was a bit wacky, to sit in a room in RL, while trying to focus on everything all at once: what was happening here in SL, plus conversations in the room between avatar typists, plus conversations drifting in through the open windows from the cooks and their friends :-)
Eos Amaterasu: first there is a mountain then there is no mountain
    Eos Amaterasu: then there is
    Wol Euler nods.
Eos Amaterasu is holding a Windhorse Farm snowglobe in his heart
Pema Pera: do you sometimes turn your heart upside down, Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: the snowglobe seems very good at doing that :-)
    Pema Pera: :)
    Pema Pera: Hi Ewan!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Ewan!
    Wol Euler: hello Ewan
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Ewan!
    Eos Amaterasu: psst....

    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
Bruce Mowbray: Ewan had trouble finding a seat this morning. . . going better now, I see.
    Wol Euler: hello yaku
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Yak, Dream
    Ewan Bonham: Hi folks..
Pema Pera: Hi Dream, good seeing you again!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Yaku!
Eos Amaterasu: (a dream has entered my dream)
    Wol Euler: hello dream
    Wol Euler: :)))
    Pema Pera: hi Yaku!
    Dream Wrexan: hi everyone
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Dream!

    Pema Pera: Hi Wester!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Wester.
    Wol Euler: hello wester
    Eos Amaterasu: ~~, Wester
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi wester
Bruce Mowbray: Have you been here before, Wester -- sorry, but I need to ask.
Wol Euler grins. She's a guardian, Bruce :)
Wol Euler: but it's always good to ask.
Wester Kiranov: hi all, hi Bruce - yes I've been here before
Bruce Mowbray: OK. . . I thought probably so. Thanks!
Wester Kiranov: if above the name it says PaB host you don't have to ask, really
    Wol Euler grins.
    Bruce Mowbray: OK. Hi, Arabella.
    Ewan Bonham: lol
    Wol Euler: hello ara
    Pema Pera: hi Arabella !!!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: huhu ara
    Eos Amaterasu: Arabella!
Bruce Mowbray is still learning the ropes. -)
    Ewan Bonham: hi ara
    Wester Kiranov: hi ara
arabella Ella: Hiya everyone! Welcome back Wol, Eos!
    Wol Euler: ty
Eos Amaterasu thinks of almond in all kinds of forms, for some reason :-)
    Wol Euler chuckles.
Eos Amaterasu: This retreat was full of almonds
arabella Ella smiles! And of a village with a name we know!
Pema Pera: yes, we've talked quite a bit about the Malta retreat, Arabella!
Pema Pera: during the Nova Scotia retreat that just finished yesterday
arabella Ella: oh Pema welcome back too did not notice you here!
    arabella Ella: (am still rezzing)
    Pema Pera: :-)
arabella Ella: hopefully you mentioned the Malta retreat in a good light ... but I am dying to hear about the latest retreat ... what news?
Wol Euler: lions and chipmunks and moss, oh my!
Bruce Mowbray: almonds and cucumbers and portobelos, -- Oh my!
Wester Kiranov: so you had a good retreat?
arabella Ella: real life chipmunks Wol?
Pema Pera: nothing but good light, Arabella! -- and looking forward already to our repeat on Malta, in January 2012!
arabella Ella: great ... as I am too Pema :)
Pema Pera: Bruce got the spirit!
    Wol Euler smiles.
Pema Pera: yes, very real chipmunks!
Bruce Mowbray: ;-) It was contagious!
Eos Amaterasu: And in Stuttgart October 2010
Pema Pera: and yes, a very good retreat, Wester!
Eos Amaterasu: and in New Orleans January 2010
    Eos Amaterasu: 2011
Pema Pera: One thing that made it wonderful was to have three guided forest walks by Jim Drescher, the local forester
Eos Amaterasu: (as Pema said, a Bourbon retreat :-)
    Wol Euler nods.
Pema Pera: on top of the urban retreat nature
    Pema Pera: :)
    arabella Ella: how lovely
Wester Kiranov: I do want to go to one sometime. Too bad the October 2010 one is impracticable
    Pema Pera: bad timing, Wester?
Wester Kiranov: yes, all my babysits are on holiday at that time
    Pema Pera: that's a pity!
Wester Kiranov: maybe 2011. I hope so.
arabella Ella: are you planning another retreat in Europe in 2011 Pema and Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: We hope so - Assisi was the intent
arabella Ella: ah ... anywhere in Italy would be lovely :)
    Pema Pera: Hi Steve!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, steve!
    Wester Kiranov: hi steve
    Wol Euler: hello steve
    Eos Amaterasu: schedule at

    has been updated
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello all
    arabella Ella: oh thanks
    arabella Ella: Hiya Steve!
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Stevenaia
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves
    Ewan Bonham: Hi Steve

Eos Amaterasu: The 90 secs feel like Jim D's instruction: "lie down like a rotting log"
    Pema Pera: :-)
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Pema Pera: that may need some explanation . . . .
    stevenaia Michinaga: Jim D?
Eos Amaterasu: it has what Eliza called "juicy enoughness"
Eos Amaterasu: Jim D = Jim Drescher, owner of Windhorse Farm, who gave us a Forest instruction
Eos Amaterasu: while standing in the forest
Eos Amaterasu: with mosquitoes and springy soil and very tall trees
Pema Pera: he has some guidelines for how to enjoy the forest - and life, really
    Bruce Mowbray:

Pema Pera: Eos gave us his lines: the first three are: Stand like a tree. Sit like a frog. Lie down like a rotting log.
Pema Pera: A while further down is another line I especially liked:
Pema Pera: Be discriminating without commentary.
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wester Kiranov: that's good
stevenaia Michinaga: Pardon if I missed this at the start, but how was the retreat?
    Wol Euler smiles beatifically.
    Pema Pera: :-)
    stevenaia Michinaga: aww..... bliss
Pema Pera: was wonderful, hard to convey . . . . joyful :)
Bruce Mowbray muses: Me thinks they are still descending from the mountain.
Eos Amaterasu: the 90 secs is the mountain?
Bruce Mowbray thinks: 90 secs could indeed be a mountain.
    Bruce Mowbray: or 9 secs.
Eos Amaterasu: as easy as falling off a mountain :-)
Wester Kiranov: how many seconds is a retreat?
    Eos Amaterasu: 432,000?
Eos Amaterasu: the 10,000 90 secs
    Wol Euler: at least that.
Wol Euler: plus anticipation and memory ...
    Eos Amaterasu: also timeless :-)
Pema Pera is still pondering how to describe the retreat: a sense of flow, of natural process, lots of walks, talks, meals, explorations, but never rushed and all occurring spontaneously, it felt.
Eos Amaterasu: as long as a blueberry
Wol Euler: and as wide as the howl of a coyote
    Eos Amaterasu: awoo! awoo!

Wol Euler: it was packed full of emptiness, organized on a schedule of no-time
    Wester Kiranov: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds like action packed relaxness
    Wol Euler smiles.
Pema Pera: the movie we saw was certainly packed . . .
    Wol Euler: oh yes :)
    Wol Euler: "Inception"
    Wol Euler: highly recommended
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Ewan Bonham: Sounds like it is intriguing..
Eos Amaterasu: Wednesday afternoon we all went to see the movie
Eos Amaterasu: (some of us for 2nd time)
Pema Pera: during the previous retreat, in San Francisco, we all saw Avatar -- it's becoming a PaB retreat tradition!
Eos Amaterasu: pan to dining room table at Juniper Lodge, Windhorse Farm, where a top is spinning, maybe wobbling?
arabella Ella: are you going to organise sessions when retreat participants share and discuss their perspective of the retreat? or have I missed that?
Pema Pera: yes, I even brought the proper suitcase (@ Eos)
    Wol Euler: good idea.
    Pema Pera: we could!
Eos Amaterasu: we will incept the forest in you
arabella Ella: we had done it after the Malta retreat with q and a too
    arabella Ella: question and answer
Bruce Mowbray: Can you stay present and let the feelings about the retreat happen here/now?
    without returning to the setting?
    Eos Amaterasu: indeed!
    Pema Pera: sure
    Pema Pera: can't avoid :-)
    Bruce Mowbray: cool. ;-)
Eos Amaterasu: nostalgia for the present
Pema Pera: we were infected :-)
Bruce Mowbray: and we who did not attend are happily infected by your enthusiasm.
    Wol Euler: :)
    Ewan Bonham: yep..
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
    Pema Pera: Hi Darren!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Darren!
Eos Amaterasu: we can do both "retreats" and "charges"
Wol Euler writes down "nostalgia for the present"
    Darren Islar: hi everyone
    Wol Euler: hello darren
Eos Amaterasu: the retreat is a way to incept being in the heart
Wester Kiranov: I have to leave - RL calling. Sorry.
    Eos Amaterasu: ~~
    Darren Islar: bye Wester :)
Pema Pera: bye Wester, good seeing you again!
Wol Euler: bye wester, take care
Pema Pera: time for me too to move on
    Ewan Bonham: Hi Darren
    Darren Islar: bye Pema :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye PEma
Pema Pera: great talking with you all !
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye pema
Wol Euler: bye pema, take care. When do you fly?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: welcome darren
    arabella Ella: bye Pema
Bruce Mowbray: bye, Pema and Wester.
    Pema Pera: tomorrow morning, Wol
Eos Amaterasu: time for this snowglobe to slowly dissolve
    Eos Amaterasu: bye all
Wol Euler: have a good trip!
    arabella Ella: Hiya Darren!
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, Eos.
Pema Pera: I have just one night at home in New York, and then off to Tokyo again :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I am off as well
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye who's leaving :)
Darren Islar: bye everyone who leaves

    Wol Euler: bye steve!
    arabella Ella: bye Steve
    Bruce Mowbray: bye. steve.
Bruce Mowbray: wow. I sure wish I'd been able to attend that retreat!
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: there will be more, bruce.

[Bruce is in a very noisy sports bar.  The bar's electricity goes off.  Everything goes dark, and the bar's wi-fi crashes. Bruce crashes.]

Wol Euler: I guess that idea threw him.
    Darren Islar: :)
    Wol Euler: wb
    Ewan Bonham: lol
Bruce Mowbray: mmmmm.... OK -- I just crashed. Is that going to affect my being able to retrieve the chat?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: no
    Bruce Mowbray: ok. Thanks, Yaku.
    Wol Euler: no
    Bruce Mowbray: thanks, Wol.
Bruce Mowbray: Ewan, we've gotta get you trained to ‘claim' a session ;-)
Ewan Bonham: I would like to..
    Wol Euler: well :)
Ewan Bonham: Is there some formal training?
Ewan Bonham: I have been observing..
Wol Euler: it's easy enough. The autologging does its own thing.
Bruce Mowbray: There wasn't for me! I just sort of fell into it by default.
    Ewan Bonham: Oh...
Wol Euler: you have to greet the noobs, instruct them and (very important!) ensure that they give permission to be recorded and published.
Ewan Bonham: Well, I assume there is some variety for all of us..
Ewan Bonham: oh...Ok...I have seen that done..
Wol Euler: there's no formal training as such, but there certainly could be
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I was prepared for nppbs with notecard etc. today, but none have shown up so far.           Bruce Mowbray: noobs.
arabella Ella was trying to figure out what nppbs could mean :)
    Darren Islar: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: welcome back, Mark!
    MarkMonet Thor: Thanks Bruce.
Ewan Bonham: is there a standard notecard? Or do you just type one out?
    arabella Ella: Hiya Mark
    Darren Islar: hi Mark
Bruce Mowbray: There is a standard card. . . I'll give you one now, Ewan.
Wol Euler: use the standard, yes
MarkMonet Thor: Hello arabella, Darren, and anyone else I cannot see at the moment
Bruce Mowbray: Anyone else want one of the standard notecards?
    Wol Euler: hello markmonet
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Mark. -- Got a different hat today!
MarkMonet Thor: Cyrpris. Good to see you again.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hello mark
Yakuzza Lethecus: but you can call me Yak :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: or Yaku

    MarkMonet Thor: Okay Yak.
    MarkMonet Thor: Yak a lot
    MarkMonet Thor: Meant nicely
    MarkMonet Thor: Smiles
Bruce Mowbray: (actually, Yaku is one of the quieter folks here! -- also meant nicely.)
Bruce Mowbray should really be observing the 90 secs of silence better than he has so far at this session.
    Wol Euler: indeed :)
Bruce Mowbray is in a sports bar - using their wi-fi - and cannot HEAR any of the bells. But can see them in the chat -- if he would simply WATCH it!
Bruce Mowbray: Do you understand about the 90 sec, Mark?
    MarkMonet Thor: No--tell me.
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Wol. . . please do us the honor, OK?
Yakuzza Lethecus: I go to bed, my vacation is over -> 5 hrs to sleep, night everyone :(
arabella Ella: gtg good night all!
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, ara!
    Wol Euler: 'night ara
    Darren Islar: nite Ara
MarkMonet Thor: Have a good sleep yak
    Darren Islar: (for the record)
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, Yaku
Wol Euler: I should go too, I'm definitely fading here.
    Wol Euler: goodnight, take care.
    Bruce Mowbray: ok, bye Wol.
    Ewan Bonham: night Wol
MarkMonet Thor: Bye and nice meeting you.
Darren Islar: nite Wol, again for the record
Bruce Mowbray: OK. . . Darren, do you want to explain the 90 secs.?
MarkMonet Thor: Anybody else on the 90 second rule, if that is what it is.
Darren Islar: it is the group's equivalent of the 9 secs you can take any minute
Darren Islar: to drop what you are doing and to see what happens
Darren Islar: then you can write down something that comes in your mind, so you build up some kind of history
Darren Islar: somebody seems to have said, 'Why don't we do that in the meetings as well?'
MarkMonet Thor: Or to give anyone a chance to jump in?
Darren Islar: and they multiplied it with ten
Darren Islar: it seems to be that discussions are less heated since then
Darren Islar: it is a moment in which you can drop or do something different except being active in the discussion
Darren Islar: don't ask me though where the 9 seconds are based on
    Darren Islar: no idea
MarkMonet Thor: Thanks for the notecard. Understood
Bruce Mowbray: the 9 secs are 1% of every 15 minutes.
    Darren Islar: ah, okay
Darren Islar: in hundred years they think it is a holy number :)
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    MarkMonet Thor: Thinking
Bruce Mowbray: Just before you arrived, Mark, the circle here was almost full.
Bruce Mowbray: Several of the folks had been in a RL retreat all week in Nova Scotia.
MarkMonet Thor: I should have bathed.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    MarkMonet Thor: laughs
Ewan Bonham: I will have to excuse myself folks and thanks..
Bruce Mowbray: bye, Ewan. Have a grand day.
MarkMonet Thor: Good too meet you Ewan
Darren Islar: bye Ewan, I'm going too
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, Darren.
    MarkMonet Thor: And also Darren
Darren Islar: see you guys :)
Bruce Mowbray: Ewan lives in Florida and Darren in Holland.
Bruce Mowbray: so it is 10:30 p.m. in Holland now.

MarkMonet Thor: That is the virtue of SL I really like. You can meet people from all over.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, in the first hour of this session we had folks from all over.
MarkMonet Thor: Glad to hear that
Bruce Mowbray: Italy, Holland, all over the world.
MarkMonet Thor: SL seems very popular in Holland.
Bruce Mowbray: Pema (don't know if you've met him yet) is the founder of this group -- a couple of years ago).
Bruce Mowbray: He is an astrophysicist at the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton.
    Bruce Mowbray: (Einstein's place.)
MarkMonet Thor: I have not met him yet.
Bruce Mowbray: He was sitting to my left.
Bruce Mowbray: He lives in New York City and will be off to Japan tomorrow (or the day after).
Bruce Mowbray: an amazing fellow, really.
Bruce Mowbray: I'm afraid that your brief visits here have not really given you a flavor the remarkable nature of this group.
Bruce Mowbray: It is unquestionably the best thing I've ever done in SL.
MarkMonet Thor: I will be coming back often, and that should give me a good idea
Bruce Mowbray: We also have sub-groups. One of those meets on Friday mornings at 6 slt.
Bruce Mowbray: It focuses on the nature of time.
    MarkMonet Thor: Meets here?
    Bruce Mowbray: Yes.
Bruce Mowbray: It's probably a bit early for you, though.
MarkMonet Thor: What time is the meeting?
Bruce Mowbray: It is at 6 a.m. slt -- which is 9 a.m. here in Ohio.
Bruce Mowbray: I will find the wiki for that group for you....
    Bruce Mowbray: just a sec....
MarkMonet Thor: That time is difficult.
MarkMonet Thor: But I will try.
    Bruce Mowbray:

Bruce Mowbray: This session began at 1 p.m. slt ---- I think that would be noon your time.
MarkMonet Thor: My best time for any meeting is noon SLT. Than it gets progressively harder plus or minus an hour or three
Bruce Mowbray: Well, this group meets every day at noon your time (also at SLT 7pm, 1 a.m., 7 a.m.)
Bruce Mowbray: I need to be afk for a moment,....
MarkMonet Thor: I also got to go.
MarkMonet Thor: And great meeting you and you have been so helpful.
    MarkMonet Thor: Cheers.
Bruce Mowbray: OK. Have a great day, Mark.
