The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.

Bruce Mowbray and I chatted a bit about personal preferences when Roxana Falconer joined us.  The conversation turned to music as we each listened to a YouTube concert in our SL silence, which seemed to them attract a number of others, as will any good concert...

Later attendees included Calvino Rabeni, Rowan Masala, Aphrodite Macbain and  adoro Rhapsody,

    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Bruce
    stevenaia Michinaga: all Rezzed?
Bruce Mowbray: hi, steve, Almostg undelievable difficulties with SL tonight.
stevenaia Michinaga: it does have its moments
Bruce Mowbray: I'm flying all over the place!
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: I understand you have been filling in a few times, any problems posting yuor log?
Bruce Mowbray: nope. It has gone surprisingly well, thanks.
stevenaia Michinaga: great, it can be a tempermental process for some, even me sometimes
    Bruce Mowbray: indeed.
Bruce Mowbray: I anticipated that, but it has gone well do far.
Bruce Mowbray: except that I've crashed two our of three times.
stevenaia Michinaga: Formatting can be finnickky
    Bruce Mowbray: out.
Bruce Mowbray: yes. It took me a while to figure that out.
stevenaia Michinaga: pictures are fun to add as well
Bruce Mowbray: I have added a few to my own Time Sessions reportws,
stevenaia Michinaga: I wias meaning to read some of those postings but time has a way of dissappearing
    Bruce Mowbray: yeppers.
stevenaia Michinaga: nice that you found the time to join in so quicly
Bruce Mowbray: I see you are a fellow connoisier of sibngle malt scotch.
stevenaia Michinaga: well... I took a journey to find a scotch that made me hapy... and I did
    Bruce Mowbray: cool!
stevenaia Michinaga: no regrets on that trip
Bruce Mowbray: I was in Scotland a few yers ago and finally found a single-malt that I loved.

    Bruce Mowbray: yeppers.
    Bruce Mowbray: cool. steve.
Bruce Mowbray: I wish I could afford single-malt.
stevenaia Michinaga: strangely as much as I enjoy it, a bottle can last 6 months, depending on how many guests partake
stevenaia Michinaga: best enjoyed with friends, like PaB
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: cool!
stevenaia Michinaga: although , the pavlovian response suggests I pour me some now.... brb
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: drinking scotch reminds me of Tai Chi, (well everything does actually) the slower you drink, the more you have to enjoy
Roxana Falconer: I took tai chi for awhile
Bruce Mowbray: That;s a good outlooik, steve.
Roxana Falconer: I miss the classes
stevenaia Michinaga: I am currently in my second year

Roxana Falconer: Bruce Willis plays a policman
Bruce Mowbray: oh -- Roxy -- tell us more about the movie, please.
Roxana Falconer: and during that time people use sims to liveout their lvies
    Bruce Mowbray: oh -- amazing.
stevenaia Michinaga: and I do enjoy Bruce Willis in film
Roxana Falconer: They are perfect sims of course. No one is ulgy, old, fat

    Bruce Mowbray: ?????
    Roxana Falconer: What?
Roxana Falconer: I also liked the Star Trek sim. I may do that one too
stevenaia Michinaga: one of the problems with text communications
Bruce Mowbray: In the past couple of days, I've felt that I could use a good joint. But did not have any available.
Roxana Falconer: I prefer to voice chat
Roxana Falconer: I would not smoke in rl
Bruce Mowbray: We don't have voice here, sorry.
stevenaia Michinaga: can I ask what you do in Southern Ohio? Bruce
Roxana Falconer: so it's fun in sl

    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Roxana Falconer: What about you Steve? What do you do?
stevenaia Michinaga: I am an architect
Roxana Falconer: Every architect I've met is always working on their homes
Roxana Falconer: Are you working on yours?
stevenaia Michinaga: no, we just moved 4 yrs ago, plenty of time for that
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Roxana Falconer: I'm a stay at home mom
Roxana Falconer: career mom and wife
stevenaia Michinaga: :), so you are the one amungst us that actulally works
    Roxana Falconer: lol
Bruce Mowbray thinks: One could do a lot worse than that.
    Roxana Falconer: that is funny
    Roxana Falconer: true
    stevenaia Michinaga: grins
Roxana Falconer: well the blues are calling my name

Bruce Mowbray: where is everyoe tonight?
    Bruce Mowbray: everyone.
stevenaia Michinaga: there is a goup you join and they send out notices

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: haven;t seen a concert there lately
Bruce Mowbray: I am enjoying the video...
Bruce Mowbray: "comfortably numb" is a meme of this generation, I suppose.
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
stevenaia Michinaga: and wish you were here
    Bruce Mowbray: . . . . a fleeting glimpse.
Bruce Mowbray: out of the corner of my eye.
    Bruce Mowbray: the pyrics:
    Bruce Mowbray: lyrics:
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/p/pink+floyd/comfortably+numb_20108779.html
stevenaia Michinaga: I was about to look that word up
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: pyrics --- who knows???
stevenaia Michinaga: I do that a lot
Bruce Mowbray: "Is there anybody IN there....?"
Bruce Mowbray: "Is there anyone at home....?"

    Aphrodite Macbain: Thank you
Calvino Rabeni: I was wondering if anyone saw anything unusual today
Aphrodite Macbain: can you hum a few bars?
    Aphrodite Macbain: in RL Calvino?
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
Aphrodite Macbain: hahah How did you DO that?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I bought a jaw harp, that was unexpected
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/pinkfloyd/wishyouwerehere.html
    Calvino Rabeni: nice
    Aphrodite Macbain: very nice!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Love these guys
Bruce Mowbray: "Do you think you can tell....?"
Aphrodite Macbain: you have an amazing aray of things in your back pocket Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: mmmmm? moi!?
    Aphrodite Macbain: mmm toi
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: "Two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl year after year.... the same old feelings... wish you were here...."
Aphrodite Macbain: My whole apartment s filled with Pink!
    Rowan Masala: goodnight, all
Bruce Mowbray: something from my back pocket:
Calvino Rabeni: I was riding a bike trail - saw a sign "free lemonade" ... a bit further, "free secrets and confessions" ... I spun past, then did a double take, went back to observe the setup of a public box for that purpose, then continued ... the sign read "It's not too late to turn around" ... "faster cyclists than you have ... STOPPED (skid marks)"

Rowan Masala departs after the hour

    stevenaia Michinaga: night Rowan
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, Rowan!
    Calvino Rabeni: Good night
Aphrodite Macbain: Nite. Good story Calvini\o
stevenaia Michinaga: lol, was "Lucy" maning the booth
Bruce Mowbray: cool, Cal. So what happened then?
Calvino Rabeni: No one was there any more
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: such is life.
Calvino Rabeni: what happened was my turn-around before seeing the turn-around advice
    Bruce Mowbray: oh dear!
Calvino Rabeni: Someone had been creative during the day
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Aphrodite Macbain: and you really noticed!!
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
Aphrodite Macbain: I love those kind of surprises
Calvino Rabeni: so do I :)
    Bruce Mowbray: "to REALLY notice...."
Aphrodite Macbain: You're not alone in teh universe
Bruce Mowbray: you cannot fall out.
Calvino Rabeni: someone built a connection to make that clearer
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: a blessing.
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
Aphrodite Macbain: :) you're part of the cycle
    Aphrodite Macbain: on your icycle
    Aphrodite Macbain: haha bicycle
Aphrodite Macbain: Has that encounter changed anything Calvino?
Calvino Rabeni: I listened to the music of the lake for awhile - it was good tonight :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Hey Bruce has his bicycle
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: In comemoration of Cal's adventure.
Calvino Rabeni: Life is made of small, imperceptible changes
stevenaia Michinaga: I must be off, night all, thanks for joining me
Aphrodite Macbain: the sound of the lake ?
Calvino Rabeni: if you want to see the good ones, it seems needed to see the insiginificant ones also

    I depart for the evening

    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye Stevenaia
    Calvino Rabeni: BYe :)
    Bruce Mowbray: bye, steve!
Aphrodite Macbain: be always present and open?
Aphrodite Macbain: are you doing wild things ith your bike Bruce?
    Aphrodite Macbain: wheelies?
Calvino Rabeni: yes, I suppose - maybe present and open rather a lot :)
    Bruce Mowbray: WILD THINGS!! Yes!
Aphrodite Macbain: But we hav to filter out some stuff - our brain does it for us, or we would be overwhelmed
Calvino Rabeni: I imagine Bruce as having a whole SL garage full of devices
Aphrodite Macbain: Me too. It's too hot to bicycle isn't it Bruce?
Calvino Rabeni: Do you think we're in danger?
Aphrodite Macbain: of what. Bruce's devices?
Calvino Rabeni: Of being overwhelmed :)
Bruce Mowbray suspects that he's overwhelmed.
Calvino Rabeni: Life's a fire hose with too much pressure .. Or not ?
    Bruce Mowbray: indeed.
Aphrodite Macbain: Apparently our brains couldn't take in all the senusal stimulus around us so it automatically edits out stuff - like noise
Aphrodite Macbain: watching a program on PBS
Bruce Mowbray: yes, PBS? The NOVA program?
Calvino Rabeni: I've heard that idea before - I think it kind of goes back to william janes?
Aphrodite Macbain: might have been. it was tlking bout chemicals in our brains
Aphrodite Macbain: and what happens when we lack or have to much of something
    Aphrodite Macbain: too much
    Calvino Rabeni: regulation mechanisms
    Bruce Mowbray thinks: Reeuctionism.
Aphrodite Macbain: we are a mess of hormones
    Bruce Mowbray: reductionism.
Calvino Rabeni: a mess and a mass
Bruce Mowbray muses: Messes are available, yes.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Messes are messessities
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm afraid I ahve to go and eat dinner or I'm going to faint.
Calvino Rabeni: reductionism is a little unkind - it seems to me - to ask us to imagine ourselves as small, delicate machines on the verge of being breached by the massive chaos of the universe - or something like that ...
    Calvino Rabeni: Bon apetit :)
Aphrodite Macbain: and that would be a mess
    Aphrodite Macbain: Buona notte
Bruce Mowbray: indeed, a mess, Cal.
Bruce Mowbray: when folks leave so quickly, I regret not having a chance to wave goodbye.
Calvino Rabeni: but is the wave overwhelmed by the ocean ? :)
Bruce Mowbray: my wves are frequently overwhelmed.
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, it would be nice to have more lingering goodbyes :)
    Bruce Mowbray: waves.
Bruce Mowbray: I wnt everything to linger.
    Calvino Rabeni: if only ...
    Bruce Mowbray: mmmm. Longing?
Calvino Rabeni: linger here for an active eternity ....
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
Bruce Mowbray: the stuff of poems?
Calvino Rabeni: BTW, John O'Donohue had a fill book on longing and belonging
Calvino Rabeni: and I really believe, the subect needs careful consideration
Bruce Mowbray: I can imagine so.... having read is book on Beauty.
    Bruce Mowbray: his.
Calvino Rabeni: Because it's an inescapable part of life which carries utmost vulnerability as well as motivation
Calvino Rabeni: or whatever - I mean to say, there's a lot to it
Calvino Rabeni: both as experience and as philosophy
    Bruce Mowbray: vulnerability is scary.
    Calvino Rabeni: But real
Bruce Mowbray: we are all ultimately totqlly vulnerable -- and only our mental constructions uffer us.
    Bruce Mowbray: buffer.
Bruce Mowbray: I felt today as if I were going over the edge of vulnerabillity.
Bruce Mowbray: ... to the rim of the wheel and beyond.
    Calvino Rabeni: what happened then?
Calvino Rabeni: maybe the wheel stretches a tiny bit
Bruce Mowbray: I recognized where I was....
Bruce Mowbray: and recognized what I needed to do to regain sanity.
Bruce Mowbray: come back to the hub as much as I was able to.
Calvino Rabeni: sometime the machine metaphor is reassuring - we're self-regulating
Calvino Rabeni: or a non-machine way of saying it - able to make choices?
    Bruce Mowbray: yes, options.
    Calvino Rabeni: discretion, discernment
Calvino Rabeni: knowing how far is "enough"
Bruce Mowbray: Always testing the limits.
    Calvino Rabeni: and beyond :)
    Bruce Mowbray: sometimnes beyond, yes.
Calvino Rabeni: transgressing the limits, is a way they are defined
Bruce Mowbray: such is my life.
Calvino Rabeni: and mine, and I think, ours
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: and wo we take our bikes out for a ride.
    Bruce Mowbray: so.
Bruce Mowbray: a ride to the edges.
Calvino Rabeni: I did that today - a meditation ride - ahh, very sweet
    Bruce Mowbray: wonderful.
Calvino Rabeni: I rode closer to the edge of my world
Bruce Mowbray: as Ran Dass might say: "The only ride there is."
    Bruce Mowbray: Ram.
    Calvino Rabeni: hehehe
Calvino Rabeni: The only game in town, etc.
Bruce Mowbray: each ride we take.
Calvino Rabeni: This year, the beets do well but not the corn or beans; other years the tomatoes; and no one sees the reason
    Bruce Mowbray: Yes.
    Bruce Mowbray: No reason.
Calvino Rabeni: And our lives are more resilient than the yearly produce
Bruce Mowbray: We have a weather anomoly here.
    Calvino Rabeni: What is it?
Bruce Mowbray: The storms divide and separate as they approach my farm...
Bruce Mowbray: anbd we do not get the rain that we need.
Bruce Mowbray: although everyone else gets it,.
Bruce Mowbray: This has happened for three years now.
Bruce Mowbray: and others have observed it also.

    adoro Rhapsody arrives

    adoro Rhapsody: hi
Bruce Mowbray: I have kept records of the radar to prove it happens.
    Calvino Rabeni: Hello Adoro
Bruce Mowbray: hi, adoro, always good to see you.
    adoro Rhapsody: hellp
adoro Rhapsody: i have an idea
    adoro Rhapsody: cant sleep
Bruce Mowbray: My! It has to be VERY late indeed, where you are, adoro!
adoro Rhapsody: like to communicate it
    Bruce Mowbray: yes.
Bruce Mowbray: please go on and tell us, adoro.
adoro Rhapsody: its 5.36 am here
adoro Rhapsody: what about GAAS or GAASS
    Bruce Mowbray: ?
adoro Rhapsody: Government as a service
adoro Rhapsody: or government as a serlf=service
    adoro Rhapsody: self-service
Bruce Mowbray: How do you see that, adoro?
    adoro Rhapsody: do-it=yourself=government
Bruce Mowbray: Sound good to me, if one's up to it.
adoro Rhapsody: made possible by cloud-computing
    Bruce Mowbray: yes.
    adoro Rhapsody: thats it
    Bruce Mowbray: ok.
adoro Rhapsody: i couldnt find it on google
Bruce Mowbray: Eventually there is a "cloud" that we access for all of our "government" needs?
adoro Rhapsody: so wanna discuss with u guys
Bruce Mowbray: just as we access Google now?
    Bruce Mowbray: please, say more.
adoro Rhapsody: i have no more to say
    Bruce Mowbray: mmmm.....
adoro Rhapsody: i thought throu it in the group
Calvino Rabeni: This topic is being chewed over at Havard University lately
    adoro Rhapsody: of pab
Bruce Mowbray: How do you feel about this 'cloud'?
Calvino Rabeni: this research center - http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/
    adoro Rhapsody: thanks
adoro Rhapsody: u are my small cloud
adoro Rhapsody: is this recorded ?
adoro Rhapsody: so i can found it on the ineternet ?
Calvino Rabeni: I've always thought there's a confusion between connectivity and communication
    adoro Rhapsody: sure
Calvino Rabeni: This chat is logged, yes
adoro Rhapsody: but its late for u boys ?
Bruce Mowbray: but it can be edited -- you can request that what you say be edited out, if you wish.
Bruce Mowbray: No matter how late it is, adoro.
    Bruce Mowbray: go on, please.
    adoro Rhapsody: thanks for listening
    Bruce Mowbray: of course.
    adoro Rhapsody: and for registrating
    Bruce Mowbray: we are here.
adoro Rhapsody: maybe we hear later about bthis idea
adoro Rhapsody: and we are the fathers of the registered idea
adoro Rhapsody: its better say it here than write it on the wall in the office
Calvino Rabeni: There's some good thinking going on at this site also - http://triple-c.at/index.php/tripleC/index
Bruce Mowbray: I am finding that there is much resistance to the idea of virtual space... especially when it comes to personal relations.
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
Bruce Mowbray: some folks just SLAMN the door on it.
    adoro Rhapsody: sure
adoro Rhapsody: the latest pioneers are against the new pioneers
Bruce Mowbray: always the "edge" of resistance, yes.
    Bruce Mowbray: (even in ourselves).
adoro Rhapsody: thats why shell sponsors research for new energy
    Bruce Mowbray: ok.
    adoro Rhapsody: maybe
Bruce Mowbray: Does that concern you, though,m adoro?
Calvino Rabeni: I suspect the number of door-slammers to be perfectly balanced with the number of uncritical accepters .
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    adoro Rhapsody: wow
    Bruce Mowbray: I like balance.
    adoro Rhapsody: u r great
    adoro Rhapsody: me too
    adoro Rhapsody: symmetry
Bruce Mowbray: We are born out of beauty.
    adoro Rhapsody: TAO does too
Bruce Mowbray: and symmetry is in-born in us -- out of Nature hrerself.
adoro Rhapsody: and out bof love
    Bruce Mowbray: herself.
    Bruce Mowbray: yes, love too.
Bruce Mowbray: And there is much vulnerability there.
    adoro Rhapsody: wonderfull statement
    Bruce Mowbray: mmmm....
Bruce Mowbray: going to the edge with it all today.
Calvino Rabeni: yes, in the big picture tao likes balance I guess - at any one time it likes change and a moderate amount of imbalance
