    Aphrodite Macbain: CB?
Lucinda Lavender: so it has been with you a while...
Dream Wrexan: Not too bad, Aph - but I like the weekend better
Dream Wrexan: CB = citizen's band radio - like the truckers used to use
    Dream Wrexan: before cell phones
Aphrodite Macbain: Oh have you been a long haul trucker?
Lucinda Lavender: do you use cb any more?
Dream Wrexan: they were quite popular in the early 70s
Dream Wrexan: no, Aph - not at all - but even everyday folks were using them
Dream Wrexan: no, Lucinda - I have my cell phone now :-)
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Dream Wrexan: interesting how modes of communication change
    Lucinda Lavender: yes..
Dream Wrexan: and how the words change along with them

Encountering technical difficulties and counting toes

Aphrodite Macbain: I still don't have one of those (cell phones)
    Lucinda Lavender: definitely
Aphrodite Macbain: Do you mind if I leave now. I have been sitting at this computer all day and my back won't work any more!
Aphrodite Macbain: I will still post the record
Dream Wrexan: not at all, Aph - I hope you go rest
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye and be well

Lucinda Lavender: Sure...you may send me the link to edit if you want
    Aphrodite Macbain: np

Lucinda Lavender: you have done this before?
Dream Wrexan: I've been here several times
Dream Wrexan: I'd be here more often - but the times don't work well for me
    Lucinda Lavender: ah
Dream Wrexan: I'm usually at work or sleeping
Lucinda Lavender: would you care to say what time it is that you reside in ?
    Dream Wrexan: I'm East Coast
    Lucinda Lavender: ah...I am west
Dream Wrexan: Yes, I believe most of SL is West Coast
Ewan Bonham: Nice and early in your time..
Lucinda Lavender: yes...I am not tired yet.
    Dream Wrexan: :-)
Lucinda Lavender: this was a first week of preschool for me.
Lucinda Lavender: Very busy and it all went well!
Dream Wrexan: Glad it went well
    Ewan Bonham: Yeah, Lucy!
Lucinda Lavender: today we counted our toes
    Dream Wrexan: How many children?
Lucinda Lavender: then put shoes back on!
    Lucinda Lavender: 8
Lucinda Lavender: Just incase their might be a fire drill
    Dream Wrexan: lol
    Lucinda Lavender: :))))
Dream Wrexan: We should try that in our geriatric memory care unit
Lucinda Lavender: it was one of those impromtu moments when a child just takes off the shoes and starts counting!
Dream Wrexan: It seems we're working both ends of the age scale, Luci
    Lucinda Lavender: YEs
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Dream Wrexan: That happens for us, too...
Lucinda Lavender: do you do much music?
Dream Wrexan: unfortunately, the staff generally suggests they put their shoes back on
    Dream Wrexan: Yes, *much* music!
Lucinda Lavender: yes and I imagine the elders are sometimes resistant?
Dream Wrexan: I wonder how they would do in a less structured environment
Dream Wrexan: they are sometimes resistant - but can usually be redirected
Lucinda Lavender: I remember taking children to an alzheimers unit at one place of work and the calming effect.
    Lucinda Lavender: great...
Dream Wrexan: on the children, or the adults?
    Lucinda Lavender: adults
Lucinda Lavender: the songs just sliced right through to a place of recognition...
Dream Wrexan: we have many life like baby dolls - they really soothe the older folks
    Lucinda Lavender: nice!
Ewan Bonham: Yes, it connects brain circuits...
Dream Wrexan: the songs are amazing - you can start a stanza and many will finish it

    Of music and its pleasures

Lucinda Lavender: Thinking about what songs we will recognize at a more aged stage...
Dream Wrexan: kick start my heart? :-D
    Dream Wrexan: probably Beatles tunes
Lucinda Lavender: sounds potentially appropriate too!
    Dream Wrexan: ROFL!
Lucinda Lavender: am listening to Beatles now! Get Back!
    Dream Wrexan: <still laughing="">
Lucinda Lavender: to where you once belonged!
Dream Wrexan: ahhh.... and I'm sure their loved ones wish they could
Dream Wrexan: memory loss is so much harder on those who still have their memories
    Lucinda Lavender: yes...
Dream Wrexan: music really is amazing, though...
    Lucinda Lavender: so very true...
Dream Wrexan: how it impacts us spiritually without our sometimes even being aware of it
Lucinda Lavender: I sing and it has been a huge part of my life:)
Dream Wrexan: I don't sing, and it's been a huge part of mine, too
Dream Wrexan: I am a music appreciator
Dream Wrexan: almost all kinds of music
    Lucinda Lavender: Ha Ha~
Dream Wrexan: some exceptions... Country... Rap
Dream Wrexan: but when I lived in Texas I even got into country for awhile
Lucinda Lavender: ah..there are times it seems for me that kinds of music are more present than others
Dream Wrexan: can you share an esample?
Lucinda Lavender: Texas would really lead to learning the country genre..
    Lucinda Lavender: hmmm
Dream Wrexan: I'm not sure if music follows the mood - or influences it
    Dream Wrexan: perhaps both
Lucinda Lavender: I was brought up in a classical music playing, listening family.
    Dream Wrexan: me, too
Lucinda Lavender: I wanted to be different as a teen so I learned the folk rock music
Dream Wrexan: an independent streatk :-)
Lucinda Lavender: but ended coming back to classical
    Lucinda Lavender: yes:)
Lucinda Lavender: I might be lazy
Dream Wrexan: I grew up in Chicago - and remember Franklin McKormick's late night radio program of classical music on WFMT
    Lucinda Lavender: ah...
    Lucinda Lavender: latenight listening...
Dream Wrexan: Ewan, when did your interest in Classical music start?
Lucinda Lavender: for me it was Messiah as the snow fell on the trees and stream behind my house
Ewan Bonham: Oh, I guess many years ago..
Dream Wrexan: mmmm, what a poetic memory, Luci
Ewan Bonham: It has the right rythym for me...
Ewan Bonham: and many chords shoot heaven..
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
    Lucinda Lavender: peace
Dream Wrexan: There are some pieces I can listen to that bring me to tears (good ones)
Lucinda Lavender: do you have favorites Ewan?
    Ewan Bonham: Yes, i agree...:)
    Ewan Bonham: Bach, Mozart, Brahms
Lucinda Lavender: for me, after these years of singing, I have new favorites
Dream Wrexan: I'm a Brahms gal myself
    Lucinda Lavender: ah! The Requiem?
Lucinda Lavender: I have sung it often
    Dream Wrexan: Yes!
Lucinda Lavender: I want to tell you about my group because we now have a channel on youtube...
Dream Wrexan: I'd like to watch/listen
    Ewan Bonham: Oh?

    Lucinda Lavender: lovely
Dream Wrexan: I wish we had a tad more culture here in SW FL
Lucinda Lavender: ah...but you do have crickets!
Dream Wrexan: ... and tree frogs
    Dream Wrexan: and the gulf
Dream Wrexan: it's really a lovely place to live
Lucinda Lavender: big water to live by
Lucinda Lavender: and the swampy places...
Ewan Bonham: Yes, I seem to know that place as well
    Dream Wrexan: gators
Dream Wrexan: wish we could pipe your music in to this place so we could appreciate it together
    Ewan Bonham: Yes
Dream Wrexan: I'm listening to the 5-part songs
Lucinda Lavender: that would be neat...
Lucinda Lavender: I am listening to the VaughnWilliams
    Dream Wrexan: absolutely lovely
Lucinda Lavender: my life has been changed by making this music...
Dream Wrexan: I was just talking to someone today about the times that change our lives
    Lucinda Lavender: yes?
Dream Wrexan: she sailed around the world - 18 months
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding
Dream Wrexan: I don't think I can point to anything quite so specific - just many smaller events
Lucinda Lavender: that would change a life!
Ewan Bonham: Yes...all the options open to us today..
Lucinda Lavender: we have so many...
Dream Wrexan: Meeting my current husband changed my life
Dream Wrexan: in a very good way
    Lucinda Lavender: ah..nice
Ewan Bonham: My wife as well..
Lucinda Lavender: my husband and children too...
Dream Wrexan: How did this music change your life, Luci - if you care to share?
Lucinda Lavender: well..I had the opportunity to learn alot I think
Lucinda Lavender: watching the kids grow...and become their own selves
Lucinda Lavender: also...the acceptance of the way one does that..be a parent...
Dream Wrexan: I have a great deal of respect for the patience of mothers
Lucinda Lavender: how about you two?
Lucinda Lavender: oh! you asked about music...
Lucinda Lavender: well it was like connecting to a kind of conduit of presence
Lucinda Lavender: every moment changing ...
    Lucinda Lavender: sorry bell
    Dream Wrexan: :-)
Dream Wrexan: Well, the piece has ended - and I think I'd better get some sleep 0
