The Guardian for this meeting was Pema Pera. The comments are by Pema Pera. This was one of our four weekly theme meetings on the topic of Being.  Last week had been the first round; this session started the second round.  The four sessions are at Saturdays, 7 pm, Sundays, 1 pm, Mondays, 7 am, and Tuesdays, 1 am.

    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Pema
    Pema Pera: Hi All !
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Pema
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Arach
    Auguste Wolfhunter: *ARch
Auguste Wolfhunter: I am so unrezzed
Auguste Wolfhunter: ARch is a cloud, and only a few of the cushions are visible
Auguste Wolfhunter: Half my hiar isn't here
    Archmage Atlantis: Huntress, Pema, Steve/////acknowledge
Auguste Wolfhunter: But at leeast i don't have seams
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi steve!
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Dash
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Pema, Huntr, Arch
    stevenaia Michinaga: a bit better
    Pila Mulligan: greetings
    Pema Pera: hi Dash!
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Pila
    stevenaia Michinaga: Dash
Pema Pera: And hi Sharon, good to see you again!
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi Sophia
Archmage Atlantis: Tls to the stars/////low SS
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi pila
SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Pema, Stevenaia. Dash, Arch, Pila, Auguste
Pila Mulligan: Pema, I have a sceince question for you

In between all the greetings I didn't notice PIla's question; and would probably not have had an occasion to focus on that either, given that we were about to start our circle.

Archmage Atlantis: amd u too Dash
Pema Pera: so many of us on a Saturday evening . . . .
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Pema Pera: Auguste, have you been here before?
Auguste Wolfhunter: oh, lovely, i'm voided
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: But i think i'm blended in with steve; at least i'm seeing her beautiful gown
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
Auguste Wolfhunter: Yea, Pema I have
stevenaia Michinaga: I see you fine
Archmage Atlantis: Your voice is always heard, Huntress
Pema Pera: thanks, Auguste, just checking :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: now, Arch is gone, and the rest of you are clouds
Archmage Atlantis: Yet I am here
Pema Pera: This session will be another theme session
    Archmage Atlantis: So
Pema Pera: as we did last weekend too
Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, I see the text so everything will work out
    Auguste Wolfhunter: :)

I summarize the idea behind the new Being theme sessions:

Pema Pera: for at least a few weeks we'll experiment with this pattern, of four theme sessions in four different time zones
Pema Pera: Sat, 7 pm, Sun 1 pm, Mon 7 am, Tue 1 am
    Dash Earthboy: sounds good
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Pema Pera: we started a habit of going around the circle, clockwise
Pema Pera: to let everybody speak uninterruptedly
Archmage Atlantis: Accept, that was the plan
Pema Pera: and then, after a full rotation, we open up the floor to any random order of dicussion
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi Paradise!
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi PAradise, gtsy
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Paradise, ok Pema :)
    Dash Earthboy: hey Paradise
    Pila Mulligan: hi Paradise
Pema Pera: Here is one way to pose a question we can grapple with: What does it mean for you, concretely, to try to briefly drop what you have (in terms of identifications, beliefs, whatever you normally rely on) and to be naked of any reference points, for at least a short while? How does that feel? Could that tell you anything about what you/we really are?
Archmage Atlantis: Cap off to the lady, m. Paradise
Paradise Tennant: hiya sophia pema auguste stevenaia pila dash arche :))
Paradise Tennant: waves and smiles all round :)

    Pema:

Pema Pera: So I may as well start, and then pass the baton to Arch
    SophiaSharon Larnia: waves back :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: how does it feel to be naked? ::giggle::
    Archmage Atlantis: yikes
Pema Pera: For me, to live without reference points has been an amazing adventure
    Archmage Atlantis: ok
Pema Pera: and I'm not sure whether I can find words to express it
Pema Pera: our whole life has been so trained towards working with reference points
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi druth!
Pema Pera: we always look at something in reference to something else
Dash Earthboy: hey avatar & druth
    druth Vlodovic: hey guys
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi avatar scorpio!
    Avatar Scorpio: hello
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Druth and Avatar
Paradise Tennant: smiles druth avatar ..
Paradise Tennant: pema could you say more
Pema Pera: so to drop all that, and to try to explore a form of unconditional confidence has been an ongoing challenge for me -- and every day I discover new aspects.
Auguste Wolfhunter: I can't live without reference points; I can drop my conventional ones, but there wouldn't even be disorientation without refrence points, as you need rp's to even say that you have a void
Auguste Wolfhunter: Oh, sorry, was i talking out of turn?
Pema Pera: Auguste, sorry, we are going around the circle
Pema Pera: yes, your turn will come :-)
Auguste Wolfhunter: ok, just tell me when it's my turn
Pema Pera: so I'll stop here, and pass on to Arch, who will then pass on to Sharon, etc, in clockwise circle
    Pema Pera: Arch?

    Arch:

Archmage Atlantis: Please. later, finish the thoughts
Pema Pera: would you like to pass, Arch?
Archmage Atlantis: I am suprised I am here
Pema Pera: to let Sharon continue?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Archmage Atlantis: No, is my text not coming through
    --BELL--
SophiaSharon Larnia: that last sentence did :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: oh, gladi'm not the only one; must be SL acting up
Archmage Atlantis: Wow, I said several sentences before the one you acknowledged SS,
    SophiaSharon Larnia: please continue :)
Archmage Atlantis: This must be to have one's voice cut off from those whom one respects
Archmage Atlantis: I knew already about it beimg cut off from those whom one loves
Archmage Atlantis: Pass to you SS

    Sharon:

    SophiaSharon Larnia: ok :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I used the phrase exquisite vulnerability the other day, the first time that phrase occured to me in reference to myself
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi Edwnly
SophiaSharon Larnia: and I've been thinking of it frequently since
SophiaSharon Larnia: we cloth ourselves in identity and beleifs, I think to avoid this, from fear of it.
SophiaSharon Larnia: and its been my stumbling block
SophiaSharon Larnia: to get to a no=reference point means to proceed without fear
SophiaSharon Larnia: and thats all I can say at this point. :)
Pema Pera: what a nice phrase "exquisite vulnerability", Sharon, thank you, so vivid!
    Pema Pera: Druth?

    Druth:

druth Vlodovic: well, I'm afraid it's a new idea to me to be without one
druth Vlodovic: so I've always tried to create new reference points
druth Vlodovic: but between it's a bit like falling
druth Vlodovic: a mixed feeling :)
    Pema Pera: :-)
    druth Vlodovic: paradise?

    Paradise:

Paradise Tennant: smiles thank you druth ...sophia pema .. interesting to hear how others experience dropping
Paradise Tennant: I find it mostly in stillness quiet .. moments where I have meditated into a deep calm state and there is only a feelling of full space ..
Paradise Tennant: like being in the bottom of deep calm pool
    Paradise Tennant: kind of delicious
    Pema Pera: (hi Aphrodite!)
Paradise Tennant: smiles .. done :)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya aph :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Aphrodite
    Dash Earthboy: (hey aph)
Pema Pera: (are you finished, Paradise?)
Paradise Tennant: yes hard to put into words
Archmage Atlantis: (searches for "another Saturday night) music
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wb Pila :)
    Paradise Tennant: smiles at pila
    Pila Mulligan: thnaks
Pema Pera: in that case it's Steve's turn

    Steve:

stevenaia Michinaga: let me cheat and use external reference points.. to assist me in dropping my own..
    Pema Pera: :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: I have for a while been thinking through something similar... dropping what I am to see what i am... to others, undersanding myself more and more by what is preceived by others, the feedback has been very comforting. I drop what I am to listen .. the closer the reflection, the louder the voice, but it i cumulative like warm feedback
    stevenaia Michinaga: done...
    Pema Pera: Pila?

    Pila

stevenaia Michinaga: (been typing and editing here a while)
Pila Mulligan: I think I don't rely on identity or belief as reference points, as I understand the question
Pila Mulligan: my approach is more observing expereince without getting excessively caught up in it (feelings like confidence and fear also may be present in bare experience)
Aphrodite Macbain: you feel others can help you know yourself?
Pila Mulligan: but of course it does not always work, and then the effort to restore the observing point of view falls back on faith in the simple idea that it works
    Aphrodite Macbain: steve
Pila Mulligan: and that could be analgous to dropping what I have -- to me it arises more as dealing with an unbalanced view of things
    --BELL--
    Archmage Atlantis: Koya understands......
Archmage Atlantis: Koya M Koyaanisqatsi is a Hopi word which means "world out of balance...a state of life that calls for another way." Marie is of French origin. Variant of Mary (Latin) "star of the sea".
    Pila Mulligan: ~ finis ~
Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, we see our reflection in others; and that helps us understand ourselves

    Avatar:

Pema Pera: Avatar, would you like to say something?
Pema Pera: we have been going around the circle
Pema Pera: but you and Auguste were on the second tier :-)
Avatar Scorpio: was there an initial question or topic?
Pema Pera: and Aphrodite came in later.
Auguste Wolfhunter: yeah, i guess i missed my turn when i crashed
stevenaia Michinaga: ema posed the questions: Here is one way to pose a question we can grapple with: What does it mean for you, concretely, to try to briefly drop what you have (in terms of identifications, beliefs, whatever you normally rely on) and to be naked of any reference points, for at least a short while? How does that feel? Could that tell you anything about what you/we really are?
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: P
Avatar Scorpio: I am fairly new to the group, trying to follow
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    Pema Pera: that's okay, Avatar!
    Pema Pera: Auguste?
SophiaSharon Larnia: no problem Avatar :)
Paradise Tennant: koyannnisqatsi .. smiles at arch like that word thank you
Auguste Wolfhunter: I don't see avatar
Auguste Wolfhunter: oh, there you are
    Auguste Wolfhunter waves at avatar
Pema Pera: Auguste, would you like to say something too, or can we move to Aphrodite?
Pema Pera: trying to finish up our first round?

    Auguste:

Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, i would like to
Auguste Wolfhunter: I don't think it's possible to drop reference points; you can change yours, but if you did drop reference points, it would be beyond nothingness; like the scene in Heinlein's "And He built a crooked house," where people opened a window and saw "nothing," not the absence of anything, but notal nothingess. They could not comprehend it. I also have something to say about vulnerability but it wil lkeep
    Pema Pera: thank you, Auguste!
Pema Pera: Aphrodite, would you like to close the circle round?

    Aphrodite:

Aphrodite Macbain: naked of any reference points - that would be fightening I thin. My response would be to be verry very small, verry very quiet, and watch and listen very carefully for a while...Big eyes big ears big question marks. I would be like a child perhaps
    Auguste Wolfhunter: ur welcome
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :) aph
    Pema Pera: :-)
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: hope you can make sense of that
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: it makes perfect sense, Aph
Pema Pera: thank you all for your contributions; and nice to have two such difference senses of stillness, from Paradise and Aphrodite :-)
Pema Pera: oh, Dash, did I forget you?
Archmage Atlantis: Hello, Pila.....long time no see.....how are the islands?
    Pema Pera: oops,
    Pema Pera: sorry about that!
Auguste Wolfhunter: An infant even, is as close as we can get tgo no reference points, and even then...
    Pema Pera: Your turn!

    Dash:

    Dash Earthboy: hehe
    Dash Earthboy: thanks pema
    Pema Pera: so sorry . . .
    Pema Pera: so go ahead!
Dash Earthboy: i do cringe when I hear concepts like peace, love or confidence prefaced
Dash Earthboy: with the word "unconditional"
Dash Earthboy: to me that seems a non-sequitur
Dash Earthboy: which of course is based on reference points :)
Dash Earthboy: but I think what you're talking about could be likened to a religious experience
Dash Earthboy: i think of phrases like "enter into it as a child"
Dash Earthboy: or "first we must deny ourselves and be crucified to then be born again"
Dash Earthboy: so i think in that sense i have detached from identity
Dash Earthboy: but i am still home to many characteristics
Dash Earthboy: which are reference points
    Dash Earthboy: :)
    Auguste Wolfhunter: :)
    Dash Earthboy: thanks
Pema Pera: Thank you, Dash, and sorry to make you cringe, hahaha -- what you say very much jibes with what I intended (I also mentioned "briefly drop", not "throw away" or "deny" but rather play with)

    Time to open the floor:

Pema Pera: so now the floor is open to all and everyone!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: Aphrodite Macbain asked... you feel others can help you know yourself? I feel others know me for what I am better than I think I do, as I can be a bit bias in an an opinion of myself
    --BELL--
Auguste Wolfhunter: Nathaniel Brandon talks about the need to be recognized, as we are mirrored in each other, and the guy who wrote "God: ?A biography" thought that was why God made us in His image. We need to see ourselves in otgher people
Aphrodite Macbain: Do you learn this from others through questions they ask you Steve or through questions you ask them?? Karen Armstrong write God a Biography auguste
stevenaia Michinaga: the "Play as Child" moment mentioned may be the "way to drop"
Archmage Atlantis: Interesting, Stevenaia......as I feel others see me, but may not know me........And, if there is a
    Archmage Atlantis: god
Auguste Wolfhunter: Aph, no it was a guy; i'm sure of that
stevenaia Michinaga: I listen through their actions and reactions to me
Pila Mulligan: I'm skeptical about the idea of everything disappearing -- it may sometimes feel like that may happen but the source of the anxiety is usually something beside an imminent disappearance of reality, it may be more related to something like feeling a loss of control
Aphrodite Macbain: Karen Armstrong wrote: The Case for God" sorry auguste
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Not important, Aph
Avatar Scorpio: Jack Miles wrote God, A Biography
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods at Pila

Auguste harks back to what Dash said about reference points.

Auguste Wolfhunter: Dash's point about there still being reference points even if identity goes is an important one
    Aphrodite Macbain: smiles at Avatar
Auguste Wolfhunter: We may feel ourselves emptied, in a zen experience, but it is still something that is happening to us.
Archmage Atlantis: You have lost someone close to you, Pila?
Pila Mulligan: death is no doubt part of anxiety also
Aphrodite Macbain: this is a hypothetical construct- may as well go with it and see what happens!s
    Archmage Atlantis: yes
Auguste Wolfhunter: Or accepting death can eliminate anxiety
    Pila Mulligan: :) emptiness
Auguste Wolfhunter: The more we accept any los; back to "exquisite vulnerability."
Pema Pera: reference points, like identity, can be worn lightly, or like a straight jacket
    Auguste Wolfhunter smiles at steve
Auguste Wolfhunter: Yes, Pema, a very important set of metaphors. I like them.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- to me it feels like free fall - I suppose one can or play with it and fly
    Aphrodite Macbain: or
Auguste Wolfhunter: Some researcher noed that neurophysiologically anxiety and excitement are identical
Auguste Wolfhunter: So you havae a choice--get anxious or get exicted
    Pila Mulligan: adrenaline?

And I ask Dash to tell us more.

Pema Pera: Dash, could you say more about what made you cringe?
Auguste Wolfhunter: "Oh, how exciting! I have cancer!
Paradise Tennant: yes .. agree pema .. with practise you can make them much lighter they are just constructs that can pop like a bubble
Aphrodite Macbain remebers when she got cacer, there was an element of excitement
    Dash Earthboy: @Paradise :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: cancer
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ~Aph~
Auguste Wolfhunter: Aph, yes; you have a choice as to how to respond to your body's responses
Archmage Atlantis: The monsters in the night, they do not stand in the face of love..cheesy as that sounds\
    Paradise Tennant: smiles at arch
Dash Earthboy: ah yes the choice! that is what makes me cringe to hear "unconditional"
Auguste Wolfhunter: arch, cheesy expressions or cliches are that way for a reason--they are trite because they are totally true
Auguste Wolfhunter: Dash, because of the responjsibility involved in the choice?
Paradise Tennant: hmm and truth as a reference point ?
Avatar Scorpio: have a good evening
Dash Earthboy: how can one make a choice if there is nothing to choose?
    Paradise Tennant: good nite avatar
    Auguste Wolfhunter: nite Avatar!
    Dash Earthboy: g'nite Avatar
Auguste Wolfhunter: Dash, there is always something to choose; the nothingness means the choice is undetermined, that's all.
Auguste Wolfhunter: But then you can't blame it on anything, hence the responsibility
druth Vlodovic: g2g, have fun everyone!
Archmage Atlantis: Oh me, me call on me
    Archmage Atlantis: dasj
Pila Mulligan: maybe free will is the choice of how far to go with the anxious/excited effect
    Auguste Wolfhunter: good nite, druth
    Dash Earthboy: nite druth
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Druth :)
Pema Pera: points can be ornaments primarily, rather than absolute reference points -- there are many gradations, perhaps
    Aphrodite Macbain: nite druth
    Paradise Tennant: nite nite druth
    Dash Earthboy: yes!
    Pema Pera: bye Druth!
Dash Earthboy: if everything is relative...?

I add some background to my earlier use of the word unconditional

Pema Pera: when I love somebody because of their money or status or power, that would be a blatant example of conditional love
Auguste Wolfhunter: Then nothing is, Dash, as you need a standard for relativity
Aphrodite Macbain: how are the ponts ornaments Pema
Pema Pera: now the question is, how far can you drop that kind of blatant conditional love . . . .
    Aphrodite Macbain: points
Pema Pera: ornaments like something precious to guide the way, Aphro?
SophiaSharon Larnia: pretty far, i have little desire for those things :)
stevenaia Michinaga: when you love them enough to let the bird fly away
Auguste Wolfhunter: Pema, which takes total vulnerability; back to steve's point
    Paradise Tennant: and love unconditionally
    Aphrodite Macbain: Nice. Thanks Pema
    Pema Pera: !! @ Steve
Dash Earthboy: so i forsake the use of unconditional when I mean conditionally different
Paradise Tennant: without the transactional tradeoffs
Aphrodite Macbain: what would allow us to love unconditionally?
Auguste Wolfhunter: unconditional actually means the only condition is being human or sentient, or seomthing
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Aph, no ego
Pema Pera: interesting, Dash . . . subtle differences, would be nice to spend another hour to talk about that!
Auguste Wolfhunter: no sense of our needs or wants being at odds with anybody

    Time for me to leave.

Pema Pera: (I'll have to say goodbye now)
    --BELL--
    Auguste Wolfhunter: nite Pema
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Pema :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Pema
    Paradise Tennant: nite nite pema
    Dash Earthboy: bye Pema
Pema Pera: (thanks for all your contributions!!)
Pila Mulligan: bye Pema, thank you
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Paradise Tennant: smiles I should scoot too :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Nite Pema. Thank you. I'm glad I joined you even tho I was lte!
    Aphrodite Macbain: late
    Dash Earthboy: ok g'nite Paradise
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Paradise
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Paradise! Me too Aph hehe
Auguste Wolfhunter: yes, i am glad i could make it too
    Pila Mulligan: bye
    Dash Earthboy: you too Aph?
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye all,can barely stay awake <3
stevenaia Michinaga: love that dress when you get up, it inflates
Paradise Tennant: smiles thank you for the conversation the company ;))) namaste my friends
Aphrodite Macbain: me too eing late
    Aphrodite Macbain: being

    SophiaSharon Larnia: ~goodnight
    Auguste Wolfhunter: good night Sophia
Dash Earthboy: well this is my first time back in a week
Dash Earthboy: but it was a good one
    Auguste Wolfhunter: welcome back, Dash
stevenaia Michinaga: place clears out fast on a saturday night
Dash Earthboy: been in some rough weather conditions near Atlanta
Auguste Wolfhunter: yeah, party time, steve
Dash Earthboy: still have snow on my car from beginning of last week
Auguste Wolfhunter: The weather is pretty nice where i live, but im on wireless and it's been tough connecting inworld
Auguste Wolfhunter: But I saw everyone but Dash
Dash Earthboy: been having to supplement my fireplace with space heaters for this 3-BR house
Dash Earthboy: a mouse took out my central furnace years ago
    Dash Earthboy: kamikaze mouse
stevenaia Michinaga: what;s the temperature, Dash?
Auguste Wolfhunter: Must have been some mouse
Dash Earthboy: today it got up to 50!
Dash Earthboy: but the snow remains
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Auguste Wolfhunter: 50 is a nice temp, but snow! Brrrrr
Dash Earthboy: schools were closed all week
Dash Earthboy: most business and govt offices were closed too
stevenaia Michinaga: I msut be off, happy shoveling :)
    Auguste Wolfhunter: bye steve
    Dash Earthboy: bye stev!
    Dash Earthboy: quiet tonight Arch?
Auguste Wolfhunter: Arch can be very quiet
Auguste Wolfhunter: Either meditates, in IM or seeing a man about a horse
    Dash Earthboy: hehe
Dash Earthboy: I just watched a movie on Hulu titled "Surf School"
    Auguste Wolfhunter: oh?
Dash Earthboy: good life lessons in that one
Dash Earthboy: Dang, now I've had some lines disappear in the chat box too
Auguste Wolfhunter: you might be about to be booted then
    Dash Earthboy: oh boy
    Dash Earthboy: ah I'm back!
    Auguste Wolfhunter: oh, good
Dash Earthboy: been a lag all night
Auguste Wolfhunter: it's happened to me all day
    Dash Earthboy: oh?
Auguste Wolfhunter: yeah, been greyed out; well, it happened here; tht's why i missed my turn.
Dash Earthboy: the Quaker mtg this morning was my first time back on SL all week
Auguste Wolfhunter: There was a Quaker meeting?
Auguste Wolfhunter: When and where was it?
Dash Earthboy: yes they have mtgs at the Quaker mtg house on Saturdays at 10 AM SLT
Auguste Wolfhunter: oh, do you have an LM? Although i'm usually busy at 10AM
Dash Earthboy: did you get that?
    Auguste Wolfhunter: yes, thanks
    Dash Earthboy: yw
    Archmage Atlantis: +
    Auguste Wolfhunter: wb, Arch
    Dash Earthboy: yah
Dash Earthboy: I did get on Facebook a couple nights ago and say "It's a three dog night and I ain't even got a puppy"
    --BELL--
    Auguste Wolfhunter laughs
Dash Earthboy: didn't know we were still recording :(
Dash Earthboy: btw the mouse that took out my furnace just chewed through some wires that shorted & destroyed the wiring block and motor, frying itself in the process
Auguste Wolfhunter: I figured; although i did imagine a giant mouse at first
Dash Earthboy: pretty much vaporized with a short scream
Auguste Wolfhunter: sic gloria transit mundi
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Dash Earthboy: everybody's got somethin to hide except for me and my monkey :)
Dash Earthboy: i think John Lennon said that first
Auguste Wolfhunter smiles as she is certainly not *hiding* anything atm
    Dash Earthboy: hehe
Auguste Wolfhunter: Very nice group too, as no one mentioned my, um, unusual appearance
Dash Earthboy: where'd the "Wolfhunter" come in?
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hee hee
Auguste Wolfhunter: Do you really want to know?
Dash Earthboy: oh, we're starting to get used to naked female avatars here at PaB
Dash Earthboy: yes, i really want to know :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: oh, you get a lot?
Auguste Wolfhunter: I'm usually the only one, outside of nudist sims
Dash Earthboy: i'm trying to remember the names, but yes there are others
Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, i may know them, and i'll probably meet them, so don't strain your brain. lol
Dash Earthboy: Aph coulda helped me with the names :(
Dash Earthboy: so where does "Wolfhunter" come from?
Auguste Wolfhunter: It was one of the choices when i first rezzed.
Dash Earthboy: yep, like my Earthboy
Auguste Wolfhunter: Better than 'resident.' lol
Dash Earthboy: my RL nickname is Dash
Dash Earthboy: but coudln't find any closer last name to my values
Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, there are display names now
Dash Earthboy: yah, I usually just use Dash
Auguste Wolfhunter: But Dash will do. They wouldn't let you use it, if it were shared; it would have to be Dash and a number
    Auguste Wolfhunter: hi Alfred!
    Dash Earthboy: Alf!
    Auguste Wolfhunter: Hi Lucinda!
Dash Earthboy: Alf, do you remember some of our other naked avatars here?
    Dash Earthboy: hey Lucinda
    Lucinda Lavender: Hello /Everyone
Dash Earthboy: i need a pair of bunny slippers like those
    Alfred Kelberry: hey :)
    Dash Earthboy: wb Alf
Alfred Kelberry: dashing through the snow... :)
Lucinda Lavender: can I give you mine?
    Dash Earthboy: ya ya
    Dash Earthboy: yes, pls Lucinda!
Alfred Kelberry: dead kitties slippers :)
Dash Earthboy: care for a monkey Lu?
Lucinda Lavender: hmmmHow do I do this giving
Dash Earthboy: just drag to my avatar
Auguste Wolfhunter: Dash, i don't think your avatar is a drag, although admittedly, i can't see it
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: it seems to be copyable
Auguste Wolfhunter: it has to be transderable too, boxy
Alfred Kelberry: dash, you crave for luci's slippers? :)
Dash Earthboy: craven I am Alf
Alfred Kelberry: btw, you're a cloud to me :/
Auguste Wolfhunter: me too, boxy; glad i'm not the only one
    Dash Earthboy: thanks Lu
    Lucinda Lavender: you are welcome...
Lucinda Lavender: now holding a monkey which I have never tried...
    Dash Earthboy: hehe
Lucinda Lavender: I have not seen you huntress for a while...:)
Dash Earthboy: the chimp even comes with a diaper!
Auguste Wolfhunter: Lucinda, i usually don't come in this form; but i was in it tonight
    Lucinda Lavender: ah...
Lucinda Lavender: you have an alt?
Auguste Wolfhunter: i think you're the only one to recognize me
Auguste Wolfhunter: Yes, her name is Huntress too; that's why you thought I was her
Lucinda Lavender: ah...then I am wondering who you are....:).
Dash Earthboy: and the mystery begins
Lucinda Lavender: thought you might be Rhiannon
Auguste Wolfhunter: Then i won't spoil it
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, there is a similariity between my rl picture and hers
Dash Earthboy: ah, that's another naked
Lucinda Lavender: well welcome who ever you are..:)
    Auguste Wolfhunter: ty
Lucinda Lavender: carried many on my hip also
Auguste Wolfhunter: It's not a secret who I am, but i am exploring a different side of life in this form
Lucinda Lavender: curious what you like to hunt:)
Auguste Wolfhunter: I hunt for the truth, of course
Lucinda Lavender: frequently have carried children on my hip as a teacher...
    Lucinda Lavender: lovely!!
Lucinda Lavender: truth might be a complicated thing tho too...
    Dash Earthboy: the truth?
    Lucinda Lavender: yes
Dash Earthboy: i search for honest people
Auguste Wolfhunter: Well, then, i'll be honest, Dash. Yes, I have two alts--Rhiannon and Huntress
Dash Earthboy: and am on a quest to find a whole new community to live in
Dash Earthboy: nice dance there boxy
Auguste Wolfhunter: Rhiannon usually comes here, as Cal asked her to come as the more authentic avatar; but as I said, i was online as Auguste, and came as her
Lucinda Lavender: ah...thought perhaps the Huntress and Rhiannon were related
Alfred Kelberry: um, wrong button :)
    Dash Earthboy: hehe
Auguste Wolfhunter: Auguste is different; unlike Huntress who is very confident, and Rhiannon, who takes no crap, is a fighter; I'm a slave
Dash Earthboy: it's all cool with me Auguste/Rhi/Huntrs
    Auguste Wolfhunter: i'm glad, Dsah
Dash Earthboy: how's your discussion group going as led by Rhiannon?
Lucinda Lavender: sounds like an interesting mix
Auguste Wolfhunter: I found out by listening to Pamala Clift that that probably makes me an augmentist; as an augmentist uses different avi's or alts to express different aspects of themelsves
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Auguste Wolfhunter: Dash, the group is going viral; 738 ppl; and a typical discussion as 40 or more ppl
    Dash Earthboy: whoa!
Auguste Wolfhunter: And there are informal discussions frequently
Dash Earthboy: hit that wrong button again Alf!
    --BELL--
Lucinda Lavender: What kind of group are you part of?
Auguste Wolfhunter: Me? Rhiannon's group; its a philosophical discussion group
Dash Earthboy: Lu I'd like to play an alto recorder to your soprano sometime
Lucinda Lavender: ah...I actually sing but do not play a recorder...
Auguste Wolfhunter: well, i'm going to bge off
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks Auguste:)
    Auguste Wolfhunter: ur welcome, lucinda
Dash Earthboy: Rhi, do you flood members with messages offline?
Auguste Wolfhunter: See you, Dash, arch, boxy
    Auguste Wolfhunter: offline? No.
Dash Earthboy: ok, i'll join if I don't have to respond to alot of announcements then
Dash Earthboy: been worried about that as i'm on the move
Auguste Wolfhunter: no, there are inworld announcements, and a lot is going on
    Auguste Wolfhunter: but offworld, no
    Auguste Wolfhunter waves and poofs
    Dash Earthboy: bye Aug!
Dash Earthboy: i helped a Christian school art teacher write her first song and then sang high harmony over her soprano in my falsetto
Lucinda Lavender: nice...always fun to make live music
Dash Earthboy: and played a nice 12-string accompaniment to her nylon string rhythm
    Lucinda Lavender: ah
    Dash Earthboy: yes
Lucinda Lavender: so many strings to get in tune
Dash Earthboy: that's nothing compared to tuning my autoharp
Lucinda Lavender: nice way that the instrument resonates tho
    Dash Earthboy: 36 strings
    Lucinda Lavender: yes...
    Lucinda Lavender: composing...?
Dash Earthboy: i've taught myself each insturment I play except for my first: the trumpet
Dash Earthboy: yes I like to compose and communicate
Dash Earthboy: i like to play/sing as part of a group
Lucinda Lavender: me too actually at preschool
Dash Earthboy: but my main musical performance success has been as a soloist which I don't enjoy at all
Lucinda Lavender: get into modes where I sing about everything we are doing...:) a bit much
Dash Earthboy: yes teachers using music is a great instructional platform
Lucinda Lavender: solo is also not my favorite
    Archmage Atlantis: 0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Lucinda Lavender: usually sing with 55 others nearby:)
    Dash Earthboy: wb Arch
Lucinda Lavender: arech are you singing?
Lucinda Lavender: we were talking about music...
    Archmage Atlantis: (( / ))
Dash Earthboy: maybe you can wake up boxy
    Dash Earthboy: ;)
Lucinda Lavender: he was here just a bit ago...
Dash Earthboy: i use many song lyrics in my everyday discussions
    Alfred Kelberry: meep
Lucinda Lavender: really...they do fit in expressing things...
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Dash Earthboy: and my repertoire is over 2000 songs
Lucinda Lavender: have any poopped up for you recently?
    Lucinda Lavender: popped
Dash Earthboy: of which I've only written a little over 200
    Lucinda Lavender: sorry:)
    Lucinda Lavender: wow...
Alfred Kelberry: wait, dash. you're a composer?
Lucinda Lavender: that is a lot of songs
Dash Earthboy: nothing recently...nobody here to even make music with
    Dash Earthboy: :((
Alfred Kelberry: dash, you have the net with millions of people :)
Lucinda Lavender: have you every made music on 2L with someone else?
    Dash Earthboy: not yet
Lucinda Lavender: wondering how that might worl
Dash Earthboy: my tech setup here is not good
    Lucinda Lavender: work
Dash Earthboy: that's why I've not accepted the offers to play at music island
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: there's a guy on youtube who makes a trio on his own :)
Dash Earthboy: i can't do a good stream from here with my cheapest AT&T DSL connection
Dash Earthboy: yes Alf...I'm like that
    Alfred Kelberry: neat :)
Dash Earthboy: I was doing overdubbing on a home stereo reel recorder in my teens
Dash Earthboy: at 17 I wrote a song called One Man Band
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Dash Earthboy: my first published song was written and submitted at 17 as well
    Alfred Kelberry: what genre?
Dash Earthboy: the published one was country, written on a mandolin
Dash Earthboy: they didn't like any of my rock nor blues
Alfred Kelberry: ah, i like country
Dash Earthboy: but didn't tell me up front
Alfred Kelberry: do you know erin juliet munger?
Dash Earthboy: so when they showed me what they liked, I went home and took out the mandolin and wrtoe the dang thing in less than 5 minutes
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Dash Earthboy: no Alf, not familiar with munger
    Alfred Kelberry: coup de deux?
    Dash Earthboy: ??
    Alfred Kelberry: aka willis fireball
    Dash Earthboy: good stagename
Alfred Kelberry: that's the one i thought about when you mentioned your song :)
Dash Earthboy: i also had a different stage name in the NYC venues
    Alfred Kelberry: like what?
Dash Earthboy: started making my comeback in 99 using the nickname given me by friends tho
Alfred Kelberry: is it a secret? :)
Dash Earthboy: sry Alf, it's tied up in trademark negotiations
    Dash Earthboy: :(
    Alfred Kelberry: oh, ok :)
Dash Earthboy: i really wish i would have taken up some offers to go to LA when I was 18 and work with some TV show music writers
Alfred Kelberry: i think we all wish we'd do something that we didn't
Dash Earthboy: a life without regrets is very rare
Lucinda Lavender: nice thing you said Boxy:)
Lucinda Lavender: thinking about when young I had this dream of singing in a recording studio...not sure why that seemed desireable
    Dash Earthboy: oh it's fun!
Lucinda Lavender: it just seemed like a very creative place to be
    Dash Earthboy: it can be
Lucinda Lavender: no audience watching but the place to focus
Lucinda Lavender: create the most perfect sound
Dash Earthboy: the guys in the gadget room watch and listen
Lucinda Lavender: as time has gone on I would say my skills were inproved by practice with a teacher
Dash Earthboy: i usually had friends watching too
    Lucinda Lavender: nice
    Dash Earthboy: it helps!
Dash Earthboy: i'm kinda socially anxious
Lucinda Lavender: so Dash...are you a person who remembers and finds dreams to be vivid?
    Dash Earthboy: yes
Lucinda Lavender: I always ask singers...
Dash Earthboy: also I have my bouts of deja vu from not-so-nice vivid dreams from years ago
Lucinda Lavender: we make those vowel sounds and I feel like there is a multidimensions effect
Lucinda Lavender: I have dream often of my choir...
    Dash Earthboy: cool!
    Lucinda Lavender: multidinensional...
Lucinda Lavender: can not spell tonight sorry
Lucinda Lavender: well dreaming and writing them down is a favorite thing for me
Dash Earthboy: one of my nicest memories from when I was 17 is my Ohio choir recording the demo of the NC high school where I was a freshman/sophomore
Lucinda Lavender: NC? I just visited the area...
    --BELL--
Dash Earthboy: the NC school didn't have either a band nor an almamater when I attended
Dash Earthboy: so I wrote their first almamater and they really liked how my current school then made the demo for me
    Lucinda Lavender: nice Dash
Lucinda Lavender: well it is a nice memory too
Dash Earthboy: my senior year of high school was a pivotal point in what I call my Nazareth
    Lucinda Lavender: birth?
Dash Earthboy: Ohio is a nice place to be from but I got no respect there
    Dash Earthboy: yes
    Alfred Kelberry: in nc?
Dash Earthboy: got great respect in NC
Dash Earthboy: was on my way to being valedictorian
    Lucinda Lavender: interesting learning then...
Alfred Kelberry: oh, in ohio you mean
Dash Earthboy: in my sophomore year I was taking their last French class with seniors and was in junior math (Alg II)
Dash Earthboy: I took my trumpet to football/basketball games and blew bugle calls
Alfred Kelberry: how's your french? :)
Dash Earthboy: but here where I've spent the last 18 years, I've received less respect than I did in Ohio
Dash Earthboy: although my mother robbed me of my IRA two years before she died
Dash Earthboy: Alf, my french is only about as good as my Russian
Dash Earthboy: I took Russian at a community college when I was a high school sophomore
Dash Earthboy: wanted to read Tolstoy in the native tongue
    Alfred Kelberry: wow
Dash Earthboy: my mother lived in Ohio
    Alfred Kelberry: impressive
Dash Earthboy: what part of North Carolina were you just at Lu?
    Lucinda Lavender: Asheville
    Dash Earthboy: Yay!!!
    Lucinda Lavender: very nice place...
Alfred Kelberry: wait, you live in one town? :)
Dash Earthboy: great little burg at the foothills!
Lucinda Lavender: took a trip a few monthes ago
Dash Earthboy: i owned a farm about 60 miles north of there in TN for the second happiest years of my life
    Lucinda Lavender: beautiful
    Alfred Kelberry: dash, sounds lovely
    Dash Earthboy: yep!
Lucinda Lavender: mountains ...the blue ridge area...
Lucinda Lavender: or is it great smokies?
Dash Earthboy: it was beside the smokies park
Dash Earthboy: sometimes a bear or panther would wander into my garden
    Lucinda Lavender: wow!
Lucinda Lavender: what elevation were you at?
Dash Earthboy: i think it was about 4000 ft? above sea level?
Lucinda Lavender: yes that is what I meant...
Dash Earthboy: i owned from 2/3 of way up the hill to a little over the top
Lucinda Lavender: bet it is cold there now
Dash Earthboy: just 60 acres tho
Dash Earthboy: yes, i'd sometimes have snow in May laying aroudn on that north side of the hill
    Lucinda Lavender: sounds very familiar...
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Lucinda Lavender: snowed the first morning I was there
    Lucinda Lavender: at 3200
Dash Earthboy: i was a volunteer fireman
    Lucinda Lavender: cool!
    --BELL--
Dash Earthboy: lots of chimney fires I had to get through the snow to in my 4WD pickup
Dash Earthboy: and I tended the lodge furnace during the cold months too
