The Guardian for this meeting was Calvino Rabeni. The comments are by Calvino Rabeni.

This session had depth and flavor and went in unexpected directions.  We make soup from the ingredients we have on hand.  Themes of creativity, expression, life's challenges, and an intellectual theme or two.  I chose the following
title for the session - A Little Jive is Good for You.

As a session summary, here's the emergent poem, composed, threaded, found, and extracted from the conversation:

    The Dharma Gates are Boundless
    By PlayAsBeing

Like a tree falls in the forest
music just seeps out of me
the butterflies listen for such tree falls
I was balancing a cat and a bowl of soup
    chicken, rice and mustard greens
I've been indulging in gumbo lately
my cats have been knocking stuff off of shelves
    gumbo here, cream of- there,
the cats nibble toes and climb everywhere
while the world is quiet under a perfect white blanket

Snow can be almost a spiritual experience
    silent and pure and ephemeral
    it comes from the heavens
    like it's there but not
    made of nothing
the real poem is all between the lines

I find symbiotic relationships between most worldly elements
art or craft .. what's the difference?
appreciation is a doorway to creativity and imagination
something from a collective expression was the jumping
         off point
    we build
          to contain
                the uncontainable
the unbuildable flow of life's rhyme
and dharma gates are as boundless as the dream
    looking at the ground
    it is like fine sand
    then like large rocks
    looking within
I notice it is all fine

I have a vest made of an old duffel bag
    still made an excellent covering
it's great for walking off-trail through the forest
this duffel bag was just minding its own business one day, when
BAM, someone made it into a coat
and now it wanders the forest
just put a couple more holes in it
    a new incarnation
    one short seam is opened
    blanket becomes cloak
it's all about the ripple effect

A cricket from our furnace room
crept up the stairs and hopped
into my dad's pant leg one day
    my dad promptly hopped
    out of his trousers
sadly this was during one of my mom's ladies' teas
he had to capture the cricket
    to fully explain his actions
I wonder who was more upset
          I suspect the cricket

I'll see your wave and raise you a snap
    wave, snap, click, boom, fold
when your handyman has soul, now you're talking
I'm not the kind to use a pencil or tools
    I'm handy with love...well, I am a fool
dang he's got an answer for everything
          close enough for jazz!

Vowels and consonants have gods within, according to the ancient rhyme
they string together our hearts, our minds
    in the divine pattern, Time.
It's late at night and we're all alone
just some music on the radio
no one's coming, no one's gonna telephone
just me and you and the lights down low and we're
          word pictures

Lover there will be another one,
to hover over you beneath the sun
    beauty in the furnace room
and the dharma gates are boundless

    * * *

    Kit Ciaco: Hey, Cal
Calvino Rabeni: Good evenint Kit !
Calvino Rabeni: What's new on your radar screen?
Kit Ciaco: Not muchg - just building a few new toys. You?
Calvino Rabeni: Oh, what sort of toy Kit ?
Kit Ciaco: Well, I'm in my cart phase - a guy popped in the other day and asked me to make him one that he pulled himself - all the ones I had made before were donkey or pony pulled - so that was a fun change
Kit Ciaco: I got carried away and also made a push one - for ice cream
Kit Ciaco: You know the kind - plays the ice cream truck jingle, hands out free ice cream cones - I just love it!
    Calvino Rabeni: hehe
    Kit Ciaco: What's this?
Calvino Rabeni: I'm experimenting here ...

    Kit Ciaco: Hey, Luce!
    Lucinda Lavender: Hi Kit, Cal
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi, Cinda !
    Lucinda Lavender: poetry tonight?
    Kit Ciaco: no,no - let's do poetry!
Kit Ciaco: seriously - poetry sounds like fun!
Kit Ciaco: So - cal, what's the box?
Lucinda Lavender: I like to position myself so I can see people:)
Kit Ciaco: hmmmm - I'm feeling pretty invisible here....
Calvino Rabeni: That would be a good start for a poem, if you ask me
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi Dash :)
Lucinda Lavender: I am just home from yoga sorry... am kind of catching up
    Dash Earthboy: hey y'all!!
    Dash Earthboy: 'sup Cal?
Lucinda Lavender: so we lost Kit I see...
Dash Earthboy: to dream the invisible dream...
Calvino Rabeni: Nothing much .. it seems so, Cinda
Dash Earthboy: music just seeps out of me :)
Calvino Rabeni: What does it sound like?
    Lucinda Lavender: bye Kit...
Dash Earthboy: like a tree falling when nobody's around :)
Dash Earthboy: i've been uploading some practice sessions to online storage lately
Calvino Rabeni: The butterflies listen for such tree falls
Lucinda Lavender: I was balancing a cat and a bowl of soup
Dash Earthboy: paint us a picture Lu...
Calvino Rabeni: We have that in common then Lucinda
Lucinda Lavender: cats are attracted to soup...
    Dash Earthboy: for sure
    Dash Earthboy: especially clam chowder!
    Lucinda Lavender: ah...
Lucinda Lavender: this was chicken, rice and mustard greens
    Dash Earthboy: sounds yummy :)
    Lucinda Lavender: pretty good:)
Dash Earthboy: i've been indulging in gumbo lately
    Lucinda Lavender: sounds good...too
    Dash Earthboy: it IS ;)
Calvino Rabeni: Young cats notice any new thing in their world
Lucinda Lavender: my cats have been knocking lots of stuff off of shelves
Lucinda Lavender: which cat was visiting you Cal?
Calvino Rabeni: The one that likes to nibble toes
    Lucinda Lavender: ah!
Calvino Rabeni: These like to open cabinets
Lucinda Lavender: I bet they like toddlers are studying gravity
Dash Earthboy: a lady I took care of in Nashville had me adopt a tabby from the shelter there for her
Lucinda Lavender: when knocking stuff down
Dash Earthboy: we named it Sunkist
Lucinda Lavender: did that work out for her?
    Lucinda Lavender: an orange cat?
Dash Earthboy: i got to do all the cleaning and most of the playing with it
Dash Earthboy: orange tabby about 1 yr old
Lucinda Lavender: there is alot of cleaning...
Dash Earthboy: she wanted me to use a dishpan and tear up newspaper for litter box
Lucinda Lavender: Hi Paradise:) good to see you...
Dash Earthboy: it was quite an experience
    Dash Earthboy: Hi Paradise
    Lucinda Lavender: wow...did that work?
Dash Earthboy: she didn't buy the newspaper tho
Paradise Tennant: hiya lucinda gtsy ! too .. hiya das calvino waves all round :) ;)
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi Paradise !

Dash Earthboy: she wanted me to scrounge it out of the dumpster
Lucinda Lavender: Paradise...Cal and I were just balancing soup and cats:)
    Lucinda Lavender: sorry bell
Dash Earthboy: much negotiating resulted in a domed litterbox with foot-cleaning catwalk built in plus I got litter from Target
Calvino Rabeni: *Gumbo here, cream of- there, and the cats nibble toes and climb everywhere
Dash Earthboy: she was terminal at 81 and I was live-in healthcare aide in nice senior center
Dash Earthboy: i lived in her closet
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Paradise Tennant: smiles .. I am just in from a walk in the park .. here by the water in a lovely snow storm .. snow twinkling like diamonds and lots of it :)
Paradise Tennant: listens .. your mother dash ?
    Dash Earthboy: nope
    Lucinda Lavender: sounds invigorating...
    Lucinda Lavender: the snow
Calvino Rabeni: That does sound refreshing
Paradise Tennant: yes :) was fun ! dog gamboled like a pup and the world was quiet under a perfect white blanket )
Dash Earthboy: snow can be almost a religious experience
Paradise Tennant: yes it can :)
Paradise Tennant: yes :) really nice :) and I don't have to shovel it :)
Calvino Rabeni: Yes .. it does have that effect .. silent and pure and ephemeral
    Lucinda Lavender: so quiet sometimes
Calvino Rabeni: almost like it's there but not
    Calvino Rabeni: made of nothing
Calvino Rabeni: comes from the heavens
Dash Earthboy: personally i'd like to have both dogs & cats as pets
Dash Earthboy: the last place I stayed in Nashville they had one of each in the house
Paradise Tennant: smiles they often become good friends :)
Calvino Rabeni: If anyone feels inspired to weave a poem in with our talk. then just put an asterisk before the line ... I'll assemble it later
Dash Earthboy: a Siamese and a Poodle
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Dash Earthboy: sorry Cal...was this a poetry session?
Calvino Rabeni: Not officially Dash ..
Calvino Rabeni: but any old time could be one
Calvino Rabeni: Hana couldn't be with us tonight .. we were doing a poetry them in this slot for a while, but it's a hard schedule for her
Dash Earthboy: any old time you want to make a rhyme...give me a call and we'll try to make some time
    Dash Earthboy: :)
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Calvino Rabeni: *The real poem is all between the lines
Dash Earthboy: i write songs, poems, and programs
Calvino Rabeni: Can an object be all three at once?
Dash Earthboy: computer programming can be quite elegant if done correctly
    Dash Earthboy: why just three?
Dash Earthboy: an object in a computer program can be a song poem for sure
Calvino Rabeni: I mean, evey element of your list = a property of some object X
    Lucinda Lavender: song,poem, program...hmmm
Calvino Rabeni: where X is created by you
Dash Earthboy: many years ago i wrote a program that helps me write poetry/lyrics
Calvino Rabeni: That sounds like a creative endeavor
Paradise Tennant: *like shadows ..filling in the gaps .. of our busy.. busy ,,, minds
Dash Earthboy: and the tune also
Calvino Rabeni: *its all between the lines
Paradise Tennant: would love to be able to write music is it hard dash ?
    Dash Earthboy: sometimes
Dash Earthboy: first song of mine published took about as long to write as it takes to play it
Dash Earthboy: that was at age 17
Dash Earthboy: common debate: is programming art or craft?
Lucinda Lavender: maybe you are wired for that dash...
Calvino Rabeni: Programming seems a like being Giuseppe the woodcarver
Calvino Rabeni: you chisel away a long time
Calvino Rabeni: and at a certain point, an exciting one, your creation becomes Pinocchio
Lucinda Lavender: hearing the tune or the words first?
Dash Earthboy: i find symbiotic relationships between most worldly elements
Calvino Rabeni: Art or craft .. what's the difference between them?

Dash Earthboy: is one a philosophy and the other science?
Calvino Rabeni: The uncontrollable aspects ... that can't be manipulated directly .. make it an art
    Lucinda Lavender: interesting questions...
Calvino Rabeni: Craft says .. the result is important
Dash Earthboy: craft speaks to you then?
Calvino Rabeni: Art says .. the message is important
Dash Earthboy: i've been discussing my Valentine songs with other friends lately
Calvino Rabeni: Craft is not as burdened with the obligation of creativity and communication, as Art is
Dash Earthboy: many see songwriting as a craft
    Lucinda Lavender: interesting...
    Dash Earthboy: for sure
Calvino Rabeni: A unique creation .. might be called Art
Calvino Rabeni: if one makes many similar things, like songs, maybe that's more craft-like?
Dash Earthboy: i wrote one Valentine song while listening to Afternoon of a Faun in high school music appreciation class
Calvino Rabeni: In some places and times there was little distinction
Dash Earthboy: i wrote another about a Degas painting I was guarding at the Brooklyn museum
Dash Earthboy: in the sense that Nature speaks to us, I see little difference between art and craft myself
Calvino Rabeni: Sounds like appreciation is a doorway to creativity and imagination
Lucinda Lavender: so something from a collective expression was the jumping off point...
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
    Calvino Rabeni: that
    Calvino Rabeni: is inspiration
    Lucinda Lavender: collectively recognized
    Lucinda Lavender: what moves us
Dash Earthboy: when you hear a song, do you think you recognize it the same as anybody else recognizes it?
    Dash Earthboy: hey druth!
Calvino Rabeni: Good evening druth :)
    Lucinda Lavender: HI druth:)
    druth Vlodovic: hi guys
Lucinda Lavender: that is an interesting question too dash...
Dash Earthboy: yes, good question: what moves us?
Calvino Rabeni: I think, ... the song has a part that belongs to it .. that is the same for everyone
Lucinda Lavender: I think people hear music differently...
Paradise Tennant: hiya druth gtsy :)
Calvino Rabeni: and a part that belongs to me
Paradise Tennant: they vibrate to music differently
Paradise Tennant: we are like notes :)
Dash Earthboy: or fingernails on a chalkboard
    Dash Earthboy: :)
Dash Earthboy: i guarded some Van Gogh paintings that people found disturbing
Calvino Rabeni: What does that sound like, to the chalk board..
Lucinda Lavender: did you feel disturbed by the paintings?
Calvino Rabeni: What was the disturbing thing about them, Dash?
Dash Earthboy: i've suffered from anxiety since my teens, everything disturbs me :)
druth Vlodovic: some things can disturb in a comforting manner
Dash Earthboy: people found Van Gogh paintings disturbing when they saw his heavy brushstrokes, like he spackled on the paint
Calvino Rabeni: That's interesting Dash, to have a date before which anxiety was not present
Dash Earthboy: actually Cal, I was diagnosed with it as a teen
Dash Earthboy: think it existed before that :(
Calvino Rabeni: hmm druth, what is a comforting disturbing thing?
druth Vlodovic: I'm a big fan of heavy metal music
Calvino Rabeni: Ah, it existed before but at that time was named
Dash Earthboy: would you say an orgasm is a comforting disturbing thing?
    druth Vlodovic: defined
Paradise Tennant: looks up and reads the text .. thinking I missed something :)
Dash Earthboy: cal's remark to druth, Paradise...
Dash Earthboy: with my complex thinking, i guess that helped make me more prone to complex migraines :)

Dash Earthboy: and to think I only planned to stay for about 10 minutes tonight :)
Lucinda Lavender: ah...the uncontrollable nature of some dream images reminds me of the brush strokes...perhaps there is a connection between things which remind us of kinds of sensory experiences that are out of controll ...
Paradise Tennant: * we build .. to contain .. the uncontainable .. the unbuildable .. flow of life's rhyme
Dash Earthboy: i've been with people who find the colors of other people's houses disturbing...just the color alone!
Calvino Rabeni: * and dharma gates are boundless as the dream
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes!
Calvino Rabeni: Some house colors *are* disturbing
Dash Earthboy: well, not to me ;)
Calvino Rabeni: But more often it's the shape
Dash Earthboy: well, not to me ;)
Lucinda Lavender: *looking at the ground...it is like fine sand... then like large rocks
    druth Vlodovic: dash is shapeblind
    Dash Earthboy: hehe
Calvino Rabeni: I go by a deep purple house.. or pink .. and my equanimity is "out the window"
Dash Earthboy: i've played in biker bars
Dash Earthboy: some eyeshadows are meant to be shocking
    Calvino Rabeni: hehe
    Dash Earthboy: some lipsticks too
Lucinda Lavender: *looking within....I notice it is all fine ...
Dash Earthboy: and then there's the whole fashion thing
Dash Earthboy: i have a vest made of an old duffle bag
druth Vlodovic: lol, is it "LOOK at me!." or "Look at ME!"?
Dash Earthboy: it's great for walking off-trail through the forest
Dash Earthboy: i'm more about utility than appearance
Calvino Rabeni: So a duffle bag was just minding its own business one day, then - BAM, someone made it into a coat and now it wanders the forest
Dash Earthboy: it's all about the ripple effect
    Lucinda Lavender: :)))
Calvino Rabeni likes the sound of that
Dash Earthboy: the duffle bag no longer served as a carrying device
Dash Earthboy: still made an excellent covering
Dash Earthboy: just put a couple more holes in it
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Paradise Tennant: a new incarnation :)
Calvino Rabeni: like blanket becomes cloak
    Calvino Rabeni: serape
Calvino Rabeni: when just one short seam is opened
    Dash Earthboy: syrupy
    Calvino Rabeni: Good evening Stevenaia
    Dash Earthboy: hey sev!
    Dash Earthboy: stev!
stevenaia Michinaga: sorry I;m late :)

Dash Earthboy: these dreams go on when i open my eyes...

Calvino Rabeni: hmmm, what would you recommend?

    Calvino Rabeni: snap
Dash Earthboy: is that a call Cal?
Dash Earthboy: i'm wearing my poker face tonight ;)
Calvino Rabeni: wave, snap, click, boom, fold
    stevenaia Michinaga: )
stevenaia Michinaga: falling asleep, never good to do while playing poker
    stevenaia Michinaga: night all
Dash Earthboy: you can't play in your sleep?
    stevenaia Michinaga: not to win
    Dash Earthboy: okay g'nite Stev
    stevenaia Michinaga: hehe
    Calvino Rabeni: sleep well, stevenaia

Dash Earthboy: i'm not the kind to use a pencil or tools, I'm handy with love...
Dash Earthboy: ...well, i am a fool ;)
Calvino Rabeni thinks ... "there's hope for me yet!"
    Dash Earthboy: hope floats Cal
Paradise Tennant: yes where everyone can see it touch it :)
Dash Earthboy: if your broken heart needs repair...
Dash Earthboy: here is the main thing i wanna say...I'm busy 24 hours a day
    Dash Earthboy: yeah, yeah, yeah
Dash Earthboy: "old songs never die, they just fade away"
Dash Earthboy: except for the Stones "Not Fade Away"
Lucinda Lavender: I think that youtube has brought so many songs back to me
Lucinda Lavender: this morning we were listening to Let's spend the night together
Paradise Tennant: smiles always think keith richards .. is touched by the divine when he plays ..like a light comes on within
Lucinda Lavender: and were musing over how it was as a song
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Dash Earthboy: Ah, Paradise, I enjoy playing "As Tears Go By" on the 12-string
Dash Earthboy: and "Play With Fire" too
Lucinda Lavender: was youngish at the time ...but still happy to remember listening to the radio...now seeing youtube I get more visual info that I never had as a kid
    Dash Earthboy: for sure
Dash Earthboy: video killed the radio star
Dash Earthboy: can't help it...i got the music in me
    Paradise Tennant: nods
Paradise Tennant: sort of like having a really big collective brain at your fingertips
Lucinda Lavender: yep to some degree me too

Dash Earthboy: i've just come up with an arrangement of "Ashes By Now" on the autoharp...building my autoharp repertoire by leaps and bounds
Lucinda Lavender: Really......I am getting tired dear people
Paradise Tennant: smiles must be a real almost physical pleasure to make music puts you so in the flow
Lucinda Lavender: I was thinking that auto harp is a great sound...
Dash Earthboy: sorry to see you go Lu
Paradise Tennant: good nite lucinda :) sweet dreams :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Dream well Lucinda
Dash Earthboy: i like to use autoharp where i've used piano before
Lucinda Lavender: thanks sweet dreams to you all...
Dash Earthboy: and to you Lu
Dash Earthboy: stars fading but i linger on...
Paradise Tennant: there are lyrics for just about every human situation
    Dash Earthboy: yep
Paradise Tennant: sort of life rhymes
Dash Earthboy: i've even got a St Patrick's day song I wrote called "orange"
Dash Earthboy: try to rhyme "orange" in a meaningful way!
Calvino Rabeni: It sounds like you write for different occasions . .. Valentines Day, St. Patricks ...
    Dash Earthboy: every human situation
Dash Earthboy: but i try not to reinvent the wheel
Calvino Rabeni: That's a famous problem Dash,.
Dash Earthboy: either in song or computer program
Dash Earthboy: any ideas how to solve that problem Cal?
Calvino Rabeni: No, I was hoping you'd licked it
    Dash Earthboy: pretty much
Dash Earthboy: not an exact rhyme
    Dash Earthboy: but close enough
Dash Earthboy: *thinks "close enough for jazz..."
    Paradise Tennant: or scat
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Paradise Tennant: love the idea of scat
Paradise Tennant: does not really need words
Paradise Tennant: just vowels and consonents :)
Dash Earthboy: do wop do wop
Calvino Rabeni: Vowels and consonants have gods within, according to the ancient rhyme
Paradise Tennant: that should have a *
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Dash Earthboy: so why do some here like poems that don't rhyme?
Paradise Tennant: lol they are easier
    Dash Earthboy: easier?
Paradise Tennant: and think any word picture works
Paradise Tennant: well hard to come up with rhymes that work ..quickly .. often and still are powerful
    Dash Earthboy: like rap
Dash Earthboy: * dang he's got an answer for everything...:)
Paradise Tennant: *they string together our hearts .. our minds in the divine pattern .. time
Dash Earthboy: i miss the divine ms M
Paradise Tennant: yes she is wonderful
Dash Earthboy: it's late at night and we're all alone, just some music on the radio
Dash Earthboy: no one's coming, no one's gonna telephone
Dash Earthboy: just me and you and the lights down low and we're
    Dash Earthboy: * word pictures
    Dash Earthboy: slow dancin

Calvino Rabeni: There's the story of Archy and Mehitabel .. in the thirties, a free verse poet is reincarnated as a cockroach. losing none of his literary abilities, but needing to adjust his technique due to his new body form being awkward on the typewriter.

    The Coming of Archy

expression is the need of my soul
i was once a vers libre bard
but i died and my soul went into the body of a cockroach
it has given me a new outlook upon life
i see things from the under side now
thank you for the apple peelings in the wastepaper basket
but your paste is getting so stale i cant eat it
there is a cat here called mehitabel i wish you would have
removed she nearly ate me the other night why dont she
catch rats that is what she is supposed to be fore
there is a rat here she should get without delay

most of these rats here are just rats
but this rat is like me he has a human soul in him
he used to be a poet himself
night after night i have written poetry for you
    on your typewriter
and this big brute of a rat who used to be a poet
comes out of his hole when it is done
and reads it and sniffs at it
he is jealous of my poetry
he used to make fun of it when we were both human
he was a punk poet himself
and after he has read it he sneers
    and then he eats it

Calvino Rabeni: it is a premonition of the future - text chat language - thumb poetry
Calvino Rabeni: and partly explains .. why no rhymes
Dash Earthboy: cock roaches seem to make a lot of typos
    Paradise Tennant: love that poem
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Dash Earthboy: dot here dropped dot there

Dash Earthboy: i have some large wood roaches around here thanks to all the trees on my lot
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c8MMiytwNs
Dash Earthboy: still i prefer them to the little ones I had in NYC
Paradise Tennant: if miska could type I sense a poet's heart
Calvino Rabeni: the heart of a poet
Paradise Tennant: has a visual prejudice against many limbed crawly creatures hope I do not come back as a june bug
Dash Earthboy: maybe as a cricket?
Dash Earthboy: *lover there will be another one, to hover over you beneath the sun
Calvino Rabeni: beauty in the furnace room
Calvino Rabeni: Those poems are another case of
Calvino Rabeni: *the dharma gates are boundless
Paradise Tennant: hmm a cricket from our furnace roomed crept up the stairs and hopped into my dad's pant leg one day . .my dad promptly hopped out of his trousers .. sadly this was during one of my mom's ladies teas .. he had capture the cricket to fully explain his actions I wonder who was more upset I suspect the cricket
Dash Earthboy: tomorrow see the things that never come today
Dash Earthboy: when you see me fly away without you
Dash Earthboy: that's a song about birds
Paradise Tennant: the dharma gates are boundless should have a * too :)
    Dash Earthboy: hey Visitor
    Visitor: hi dash
    Paradise Tennant: hello Visitor:)
    Visitor: hello paradise
    Visitor: how r u both
    Dash Earthboy: in distress
    Dash Earthboy: speaking for myself
Paradise Tennant: why are you in distress dash ?
    Visitor: hi cultivator
    Visitor: y dash
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi, Visitor
Calvino Rabeni: By the way Visitor, the conversations on this area are recorded and published on our wiki .. is that ok with you .. or have you been here before?
Dash Earthboy: i'm still in hostile territory and need to find a nurturing community to relocate to

Editor's Note: By agreement, I edited this story for reasons of confidentiality.

Paradise Tennant: peace you give yourself ..has to come from within.. from letting go :)
Dash Earthboy: tell that to Libya
    Dash Earthboy: or Cuba
Dash Earthboy: external influences can rob us of inner peace
Paradise Tennant: cuba is very peaceful :) a very happy place really you would like it full of music
Paradise Tennant: and very good rum
Dash Earthboy: that common folk can't afford
Paradise Tennant: no external factors do not rob of us internal peace ..we rob ourselves .. it is too scary often to be a peace .. you can lose your self in peace
Calvino Rabeni: The most frequent euphemism for those events is "unrest" .. I find that disturbing
Dash Earthboy: not if you are mindful, Paradise
Calvino Rabeni: Instead of "protest", "rebellion", "revolt", "strike", .. we have "unrest"
Calvino Rabeni: which muffles the voices and significance of the opposing forces
Paradise Tennant: I mean true peace .. diminishes our sense of self .. true peace breaks down that illusion
Dash Earthboy: having lived in gang-infested neighborhoods, i reject the musings of those who hold us entirely responsible for our own peace and security
Calvino Rabeni: If I'm full of turmoil for instance, I hope when someone asks "how are you doing" I don't say "I'm unpeaceful today"
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
    Dash Earthboy: why Cal?
Calvino Rabeni: But .. "inner" peace is a springboard for strong outer action
    Dash Earthboy: for sure
Calvino Rabeni: Like the prayer circles of the civil rights protesters in the USA
Calvino Rabeni: Lord give us strength
Dash Earthboy: The Atlanta school superintendent tried to make "how are you" into a greeting
Dash Earthboy: a rhetorical question is not a greeting
Dash Earthboy: it is an insult
Dash Earthboy: and to be forced to politely answer "fine thank you and you?" in return is just advocating lying as a way of life
Calvino Rabeni: No one knows how to ask PROPERLY, it seems

Dash Earthboy: try to live in peace with a monkey on your back or a cat in your soup (and then your hair) :)
Dash Earthboy: peace is not just detente
Paradise Tennant: maybe for you it will be in your music :)
Dash Earthboy: and even MLK said "The quality, not longevity, of life is most important."
Dash Earthboy: i do express myself in music
Paradise Tennant: well change is the only constant ... moving sounds like a good plan
Dash Earthboy: i was gonna share a link to me practicing a song
Paradise Tennant: I hope you find it dash .. somewhere .. where you feel a true welcome and can relax and enjoy your creativity
    Paradise Tennant: please!
Calvino Rabeni: Would love to see that, Dash
    Dash Earthboy: okay http://www.box.net/shared/o42867v8p3
Dash Earthboy: it's just me practicing a Neil Young song

Dash Earthboy: i've been compared to Young, John Denver, and more...even played the role of Jim Croce in a road show called "Rock N Roll Heaven"
    Paradise Tennant: smiles :)
Dash Earthboy: i uploaded the link for my son to show others that his quiet dad could sing at one time
Calvino Rabeni: Enjoying it, thanks :)
    Dash Earthboy: yw
Paradise Tennant: bet he is very proud :)
    Dash Earthboy: not really
Paradise Tennant: thank you .. for sharing .. :)
    Dash Earthboy: yw

Dash Earthboy: glad y'all like the Cowgirl fragment from practice
    Paradise Tennant: yes !
    Calvino Rabeni: Nice voice
Paradise Tennant: you know there are musicians who make a kind of a living from singing in sl
Paradise Tennant: have you ever sung here
Dash Earthboy: i'm no eric clapton, but i like to play like i'm doing with the nylon string guitar on that song
Dash Earthboy: Kate invited me to perform here but I can't get a decent stream output from here
Paradise Tennant: if you can run sl on your computer should be able to stream
Dash Earthboy: i thought it would be wonderful to do autoharp duets with Cindy Ecksol
Dash Earthboy: i like to sing harmony rather than lead
Calvino Rabeni: I like those one person acapella groups on youtube
Dash Earthboy: the quality of the stream is not only effected by my low speed connection and cheap equipment but also by noise from space heaters and other necessities
Dash Earthboy: my laptop graphics do not meet SL min standards
Dash Earthboy: i'm really here on a shoestring
Dash Earthboy: 'oh lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz
Dash Earthboy: My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends"
Calvino Rabeni: Here's one for you on that score . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXobO2UgEuo
Calvino Rabeni: Smack Dab In the Middle
Paradise Tennant: smiles on that note ! I will say good nite :)
    Paradise Tennant: namaste :)
Calvino Rabeni: "Let me swing until I satisfy my soul"
    Dash Earthboy: g'nite Paradise
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks Paradise, Namaste :)
    Calvino Rabeni: _/!\_
    Dash Earthboy: thanks
Dash Earthboy: here's another one of my relocation effort's theme song: http://www.box.net/shared/sm26ngfvr0
Calvino Rabeni: Bring me a wagon load of bonds and stocks .. and open up the doors to Fort Knox
Dash Earthboy: using the autoharp on that one
Dash Earthboy: oh, it ain't like i haven't earned a good living before
Paradise Tennant: smiles really should try to stream dash .. ;) would be both fun .. and help out

    Dash Earthboy: thanks' y'all
Paradise Tennant: sends a hug all round :) good nite you two :)
Dash Earthboy: guess it is a good time to head for dreamland
Calvino Rabeni: Sounds like a good idea, Dash
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks for staying longer than 10 minutes :)
Dash Earthboy: and thanks for your presence here too Cal
Dash Earthboy: till next we meet...
