    Bringing up a topic

Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning the two of you

    Korel Laloix: Heya
Eden Haiku: Hello Yaku, hello Korel!
    Korel Laloix: Anything new?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: morning bleu
    Eden Haiku: :)
Eden Haiku: Good morning Bleu :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi all :)
Bleu Oleander: Eden, our star performer :))
Eden Haiku: We have lingering elements from our intense week end of celebrations: an Art of Being top, a flute, a crown :)
Bleu Oleander: yes, remnants of celebration and play
Eden Haiku: It was such a fun week end!
    Bleu Oleander: yes, very
Eden Haiku: If you all feel like it, I would suggest a topic for this morning.
    Bleu Oleander: sure
Eden Haiku: Something Eliza brought up in a meeting: slowing down.
Eden Haiku: It resonates deeply with me.
Bleu Oleander: thoughts on that Eden?
    Bleu Oleander: hi Sun :)
Sunshine Vayandar:  hi Bleu , Eden and Yaku, Korel
Eden Haiku: Was looking at the rain this morning, as I was eating a piece of pear, a rain hesitating between rain and snow. Breathing.
    Eden Haiku: Hi Sun:)
    Bleu Oleander: sounds lovely Eden
Sunshine Vayandar is listening to Eden ;)
Eden Haiku: I suggested we talk about "slowing down" today :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Eden Haiku: It made me realize how important it is to slow down enough to appreciate every little detail of life. To honour it, savour it.
Eden Haiku: How do you see it, how do you slow down?

    A spider on the wall

Sunshine Vayandar: Yes - it was so much rushing around planning all these events
Sunshine Vayandar: and then making sure all goes well
Sunshine Vayandar: I felt like a spider on the wall ;)
Eden Haiku: And it was fantastic, all this bustling energy, effervescent and all!
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Sunshine Vayandar: the one that is super fast hehe
Eden Haiku: ahah yes, superfast spider :)))
Sunshine Vayandar: yes Eden I am still thinking of your poem
Bleu Oleander: needed to have pixels in many places :))
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;))
    Eden Haiku: :)
Sunshine Vayandar: I enjoy when it's more quiet in PaB
Bleu Oleander: I can appreciate both speeds .... balance is nice
Sunshine Vayandar: since I like to get busy with making things ... just quietly
Eden Haiku: Well both rhythms are enjoyable! But we need to alternate them :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Susan
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Susan
Sunshine Vayandar: for me the running of an event gets a bit too much
    Eden Haiku: Hello Susan ;)
Sunshine Vayandar: some things I left till the end
    Bleu Oleander: hi Storm :)
Eden Haiku: Good morning Storm :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Storm ;)
Storm Nordwind: Hi there everyone :)
Eden Haiku: Yes, I always do that do Sunshine :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey storm, sun suan
    Sunshine Vayandar: hey Yaku ;)
Eden Haiku: We have been talking about "slowing down" after the week end excitement and celebrations :)
Storm Nordwind: Thank you :) Sounds like a good idea!

Opening the crown chakra as a lotus flower

Eden Haiku: As I was sporting my crown this morning (a Treasure Hunt trophy I'm quite proud of!), I was reflecting about the crown chakra symbolism attached to it ...
Bleu Oleander: (was hard to take off my crown, hehe)
Eden Haiku: As a way to open our crown chakra (on top of our head) as a lotus flower, slowly...

Eden Haiku: And let all the universe, all the universes pour into our bodies...
Eden Haiku: And then letting the earth energies come into our feet and go through all our bodies, physical, subtle, emotional, mental bodies.
    Eden Haiku: Balancing ourselves...
Eden Haiku: That's one of the ways I use to slown down. What are yours?
Sunshine Vayandar: I always think of music first
    Eden Haiku: Oh nice :)
Bleu Oleander: yes, for me too
Sunshine Vayandar: I can just play one note on the violin
    Sunshine Vayandar: close my eyes
Eden Haiku: You hear music in your head? or you play it?
    Sunshine Vayandar: I play
    Bleu Oleander: I listen
    Sunshine Vayandar: or I listen
    Eden Haiku: ah...
Sunshine Vayandar: playing makes me more relaxed
Sunshine Vayandar: I hear and feel how the string vibrates
Bleu Oleander: nice, I wish I could play violin
Eden Haiku: Such a gripping sound, violin...
Sunshine Vayandar: hmm it can be anything else hmm
    Sunshine Vayandar: other musical instruments
Eden Haiku: I mean, powerful, takes your soul away, makes it travel...
    Sunshine Vayandar: or dancing
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Hum-san ;)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Zen
    Zen Arado: Hi all
Eden Haiku: I love this music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifruyCLcqmw
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
Storm Nordwind: Most things are neutral to me. If I have speeded up, I just need to drop what it was that did that, and slowness is restored!
    Eden Haiku: Hello Hum-san:)))
    Sunshine Vayandar: brb
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey zen and eliza
    Zen Arado: Hi Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eden, Zen, Korel, Ya, Bleu, Sun, Susan, and Storm :)
Eden Haiku: Easy Storm :) Balance is not so natural for me, I have to make clear choices to restore or I get into natural chaos :)
Storm Nordwind tries Eden's music but switches it off quickly as it is very "speeding up"!
    Bleu Oleander: hi Eliza :)
Eden Haiku: Good morning Eliza:) I brought up the topic of "slowing down" from yesterday this morning :)
Korel Laloix: I admit I really don't like that music, but would be OK in the background.
Eliza Madrigal: Ah... I'll listen to catch the flow...
    Eliza Madrigal: thanks :)
Eden Haiku: Yes, Storm, it's a passionate music :))
Korel Laloix: Got to get to my next class... ciao all.
    Bleu Oleander: it's beautiful Eden
    Storm Nordwind waves
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Korel :)
    Bleu Oleander: bye Korel
    Eden Haiku: Bye Korel.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye korel
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
Eden Haiku: I'm not listening to music to slow down tho. It's too intense. I prefer silence to slow down.
    Sunshine Vayandar: back sorry
Eliza Madrigal: its funny... I wasn't really suggesting contriving slowing down, but I appreciate the discussion...
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Eliza ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: WB Sun :)
Eden Haiku: I'm not making you a note Eliza as you will have to speed up reading it, just jump in with us :))
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
    Sunshine Vayandar: ty Zen ;)
Eden Haiku: How do you slow down yourself Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: hm, sometimes saying aloud that I need to...
Eliza Madrigal: but actually I like 'slow walking' meditation too

Trying slow walking meditation around the fountain (with great animations given by Sunshine and Storm, we soon all "struggled in a sea of lag", long legs extending sooo slowly around the fountain, bumping into each other a bit)

Zen Arado is too slow already
Zen Arado: needs to speed up
Eden Haiku: I kept the topic alive (as a boiling potato!) as it deeply resonates with me, noticing how i run from a deadline to another one ...
    Bleu Oleander: haha
Eliza Madrigal: Alfred said yesterday that when he purposefully goes slower everything become more vibrant
    Eliza Madrigal: heh Zen :)
Eliza Madrigal: ah, yes, that's the feeling Eden!

Storm Nordwind remembers teaching a special walking meditation... but hasn't done so for more than a year it seems...
Eden Haiku: Zen, you seem to be having a very different experience :) Want to tell us more?
Zen Arado: so much I want to do
Eden Haiku: Oh yes, Storm :) That was fun...
Eliza Madrigal nods @ Storm, possibly the same one :)
Zen Arado: we do walking meditation all the time
Zen Arado: part of our practice
Zen Arado: never done it in SL though
Eliza Madrigal: doesn't that 'so much I want to do' feeling cause a speeding up internally Zen?
Eden Haiku: Shall we stand up and walk slowly around the fountain? Clockwise?
Eliza Madrigal: my avatar walks pretty fast but I'm game , hah
Zen Arado: you have to walk verrry slowly
Zen Arado: placing one foot down carefully
Storm Nordwind struggles through a sea of lag...
    Zen Arado: hands in sasho
Eden Haiku: We would need a script :)))
Sunshine Vayandar struggles through a sea of lag...
Eliza Madrigal: yes :)) they do have those..
Eliza Madrigal: hahah, who is playing that
Zen Arado: that is you clasp lightly in front of your chest
Sunshine Vayandar: me ;) and storm
    Bleu Oleander: getting dizzy
Zen Arado: need an animation for it I think
Eden Haiku: Tha's a beautiful step Sunshine :)
    Storm Nordwind giggle
Eliza Madrigal: ah, I've seen that posture Zen... some temples want you to maintain that even when visiting/walking the grounds
Sunshine Vayandar struggles through a sea of lag...
Eliza Madrigal struggles through a sea of lag...
Eden Haiku: Well easier said then done..
    Bleu Oleander: hehe
Storm Nordwind struggles through a sea of lag...
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Eden Haiku struggles through a sea of lag...
    Eliza Madrigal: great..... ty
Zen Arado struggles through a sea of lag...
Sunshine Vayandar struggles through a sea of lag...
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;D
Eden Haiku: Hi iwandertoo. I hope you have been here before :))
Bleu Oleander: this is not having a calming effect on me :)
    Storm Nordwind agrees!
Eden Haiku struggles through a sea of lag...
    Sunshine Vayandar: Zen is winning
Zen Arado: if someone wrote an anim for it...
    Eliza Madrigal: good idea, Zen
    Eden Haiku: @Bleu :)
Zen Arado: we do 10 mins walking meditation between sitting meditation
Eden Haiku: Do you have the info notecard about our group iwandertoo?
Zen Arado: kinhin it is called
Zen Arado: Susan has been here before I think Eden
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Zen Arado: many times
Eliza Madrigal: that's the funny thing about slowing down internally... I think it actually increases capacity for precision...
    Zen Arado: in fact
Eden Haiku: Oh, I'm sorry, I realize it's Susan under a different name :)

Back to talking about slowing down

Zen Arado: meditation is slowing down?
    Zen Arado: slowing down what?
Eliza Madrigal: yes I don't know what it is
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eden Haiku: Like the archer Eliza, has to be very still to give all its speed to the arrow?
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods
Zen Arado: prefer to just sit and if slowing down happens it happens
Bleu Oleander: worrying about slowing down can have the opposite effect
    Eliza Madrigal: very true...
Zen Arado: yeh I think so
Zen Arado: and how do you do it?
Bleu Oleander: there's a natural balance to my day
    Eliza Madrigal listens
Eden Haiku: I know my energy speeds up sometimes, runs on some wild fuel and I know it's not good for me. I feel the need to ground myself, be quiet, silent, by myself. Appreciate.
Bleu Oleander: some highs some quiet moments of rest
Zen Arado: prefer to be totally involved in what I am doing
    Sunshine Vayandar: yes Zen
Zen Arado: that might not be slow - just concentration
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes I feel like I have to slow down already, before I've even gotten out of bed...
    Bleu Oleander: moments of "flow"
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eden Haiku: :))) @Eliza!
Zen Arado: I am always slow getting out of bed :)
Sunshine Vayandar: yes Eliza I know the feeling

Zen brings up his own difficult reality about slowing down and it makes us see the topic in a more compassionate light

Zen Arado: takes me 1 1/2 hours to have a shower and put on my clothes

    Zen Arado: and have breakfast
    Eden Haiku: Oh Zen ...
Eliza Madrigal: so every day you start by being patient..
Eden Haiku: Slowing down is your daily life, I see. It must be very difficult to accept, is it?
    Zen Arado: patience with oneself
Zen Arado: acceptance of one's limitations
Zen Arado: and we all have them
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eden Haiku: Yes. I have seen my uncle who has Parkinson, struggling with that...His mind as swift as it used to be yet the body so slow...
Zen Arado: slowing down is natural as we age I guess
Eliza Madrigal: I remember that feeling, being in bed, restless energy... used to fight it watching tv etc...
Eden Haiku: TV is a good pacifier :)
Eden Haiku: Makes you dumb slowly :)
    Zen Arado: soporific TV
Eliza Madrigal: one day I stopped , realizing I was adding to my restlessness
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: so I did less/nothing almost
Bleu Oleander: hardly ever watch TV
    Zen Arado: watch news

Eden Haiku: The guy who wrote about Flow (let's call him M...) says TV does organize the brain waves and gives us a sensation of flow, an artificial one kind of but sometimes it helps :)
Eliza Madrigal: life became more full when I stopped, for sure... now very rare
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe "M"
    Bleu Oleander: Csikszentmihalyi
Sunshine Vayandar: that sounds hungarian ;)
    Zen Arado: http://www.tricycle.com/feature/tran...ative?page=0,0
    Eden Haiku: Michael Csakszentmihalyei
Eliza Madrigal: Bleu do you experience flow like something 'you' enter, or that takes you? (odd question?)
Eden Haiku: Yes, he is hungarian Sun :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Bleu Oleander: a state that I am in
Bleu Oleander: if that makes sense
Eden Haiku: I see flow as a river I step in and out...
Zen Arado: "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience," is his book
    Eliza Madrigal: hmmm
    Eden Haiku: A great book!
Sunshine Vayandar: I like that Eden - stepping in and out of the river
Bleu Oleander: have it on my desk Zen, that's how I knew how to spell it
    Eden Haiku: hehe
Zen Arado: I just read an article about it last week
Zen Arado: the link I just posted
Sunshine Vayandar: ;) I was wondering Bleu - it is quite difficult - that name
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eden Haiku: Oh I like the illustration in the article Zen!
Zen Arado: in the words of T. E. Lawrence, "happiness is absorption"
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander: I actually loved his newer book, "the evolving self"
Eden Haiku: It remind somehow of the sacred geometry workshop I attended lately...
Eden Haiku: Oh, haven't read that yet Bleu, thanks!
Eliza Madrigal: I guess I'm wondering too, about conducive conditions to 'flow'...
    Bleu Oleander: wonderful book
Eden Haiku: next time I go downtown to find an English bookshop :)
Eliza Madrigal: and really interested in hearing about sacred geometry when you want to share too Eden :)
Eden Haiku: I used to know them by heart Eliza. Have it somewhere on an old computer...
Storm Nordwind used to teach about flow... ooh... 13 years ago
    Zen Arado: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Evolving-Sel...929079&sr=8-13
Eliza Madrigal: what sort of things, Storm?
    Zen Arado: quite old books
Bleu Oleander: in this book he say videos, tv, movies magazines etc soak up an enormous amount of attention
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods
Bleu Oleander: take up energy without increasing complexity
Eden Haiku: Do you still remember Storm? I think the Treasure Hunt might have respected some of the principles; a difficult task, but not so difficult... It involved asking others about tips too :)
iwandertoo Resident: often used in sports psychology

    A weird web of wyrd

Storm Nordwind: In a nutshell, I was talking about working with wyrd, and how to work with synchronicity
Bleu Oleander: he talks about the dangers of artificially induced flow which can become addictive
Zen Arado: "Csikszentmihalyi argues that a life filled with 'flow activities' is more worth living than one spent consuming passive entertainment. He says, the point is to be happy while doing things that stretch your goals and skills that help you grow and fulfill your potential. In other words: the content of your experiences over a lifetime determines the quality of your life. "
    Zen Arado: from a review
Eliza Madrigal: oh, yes the web of wyrd!
Eden Haiku: wyrd as in weird old norse word Storm?
    Bleu Oleander: yes, Zen
Eliza Madrigal: thanks Zen... and that makes such sense Bleu
iwandertoo Resident: there is a fantastic description of a man who designs a garden. he has very regular type of job, yet creates this incredible garden.
Storm Nordwind: Old Norse word yes. But it doesn't mean weird. It means "what is".
    Eden Haiku: Ah!
iwandertoo Resident: context: in the Flow book
Eden Haiku: And the garden is a way for him to get into flow Susan?
iwandertoo Resident: i dont know. but it was used as an example of a person in flow - designing, creating for the sheer purpose that it brings him happiness
Zen Arado: it seems like another description of mindfulness to me
iwandertoo Resident: no "goal" involved", just being
    Zen Arado: yes
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)

I try to start a collective poem as a way for us to dive into flow but it's a foul ball  :)

Eden Haiku: A collective poem: ::::::in the web of wyrd a Monday morning
Eliza Madrigal: mmmm so flow could be said to be a kind of peace with what is?
iwandertoo Resident: it's worth skimming the book
Eden Haiku: A collective poem: ::::::in the web of wyrd a Monday morning
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eden Haiku: grins
Bleu Oleander: flow is deep concentration, complete involvement
Eden Haiku: A collective poem: ::::::in the web of wyrd a Monday morning
Eden Haiku: I feel trapped in the web of weird :)))
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;p
Eliza Madrigal: wearing a crown and releasing attachments at the same time
Eden Haiku: dropping my crown [I did detached my crown which must be floating in the underworlds of the fountain ]
Eliza Madrigal: no... it suits you
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Eden Haiku: opening up my crown chakra
Eden Haiku: slowly like a lotus flower
Eden Haiku: letting all the universe pour into my bodies, all the universes
Eden Haiku: into the chalice of my hara, the graal of my belly
Eden Haiku: a violet ray of light
Eden Haiku: then feeling the earth energies flow through my bodies into the hara and into my heart
Eden Haiku: that's the sacred geometry workshop in a nutshell Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)) Thank you! So sacred geometry is about chakras?
Eliza Madrigal: wow have all these wonderful images dancing, webs and geometries and rivers...
Eden Haiku: Much more. I don't know enough to teach it though. But maybe I could demonstrate more one day if one of you could create the elements as I say them...Visually :) Like Sun is doing right now with the lotus on her head:)

As I was talking, Sunshine had materialized a beautiful violet lotus on the top of her head, she then shared it with everyone, generous soul :) and most of us ended up sporting a violet lotus crown.

Eden Haiku: Put it again Sun, I will take a picture! it's beautiful!
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, now I see... had to zoom
    Eliza Madrigal: lovely

Eden Haiku: Dropping a crown, getting a new one :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;))
    Zen Arado: ty Sun
    Eliza Madrigal: What a sight
Eden Haiku: This is marvelous Sun!
    iwandertoo Resident: wonderful
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;))

Bleu Oleander: well, must get to work ... take care everyone :)
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
Eliza Madrigal: :)) Bye for now Bleu
    Eliza Madrigal waves

    Eden Haiku: Bye Bleu!
Zen Arado: get int o your flow Bleu :)
    Zen Arado: dinnertime

    iwandertoo Resident: waves
