The Guardians for these meetings (exploration, leading into music) were Eliza Madrigal and Sunshine Vayandar. The comments, and a few edits, are by Eliza Madrigal, joined by Yakuzza, Xirana, Zen, Riddle, Bruce, Kodo, Brian, and a wandering visitor (didn't give permission) who played silent guitar.

    iwandertoo Resident: :)
Eliza Madrigal: how does the saying go... when you're smiling, the whole world smiles with you....
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;))
Eliza Madrigal: Oh that one is fun!
Xirana Oximoxi: your animation is also perfect Sun!!!

Yakuzza Lethecus: did you discuss or time subject already, it came a bit short yesterday, xirana
Yakuzza Lethecus: i have to be afk for a while
Sunshine Vayandar: yes it seems to work very well Xiri
Sunshine Vayandar: may be I put it away for now
Sunshine Vayandar: otherwise I can't stop staring at it
Sunshine Vayandar: hehe takes my focus
Eliza Madrigal: it captivates us :)
Eliza Madrigal: we're charmed and tamed
Sunshine Vayandar: I am completely on the floor
Sunshine Vayandar: or something like that in English ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: melted like chocolate
    Xirana Oximoxi: hehe
    sitar sunshine_001.jpg

Xirana Oximoxi: Yaku, I haven't discussed about subjective perception of time in sl, yet... maybe as it is subjective, not everybody perceives this different
    Eliza Madrigal: Say more Xirana?
Eliza Madrigal: Its a wonderful topic
    Brian Roop: hello everyone
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Brian, nice to see you again :))
Xirana Oximoxi: well.. I've read in forums more than once, people saying that sl perception of time is more intense that rl time.. aand I also believe it in some way, but I don't know exactly why
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Brian ;)
Brian Roop: yes, i think sl time is measured in dog years, seven to one
Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods.... my feeling is that it has to do with quality of attention

Brian Roop: well for one thing one never has to be bored in sl
Eliza Madrigal: it draws from us
    Sunshine Vayandar: one moment brb
Eliza Madrigal: boredom is never part of your SL experience?
Xirana Oximoxi: seven to one Brian???..
Brian Roop: why would i stay in-world if i were bored
    Brian Roop: ?
Eliza Madrigal: Well, just as in RL: 'any second something will happen'
    Eliza Madriga giggles

Brian Roop: yes but frequently enough nothing does happen

Eliza Madrigal: maybe boredom is caused by anticipation
Brian Roop: yet we can't just leave the scene
Brian Roop: as we can in sl
Eliza Madrigal: so you find SL more fluid?
    Brian Roop: sure
Xirana Oximoxi: well... I'm never bored in RL... and I've felt bored in SL... specially if you don't have anyone to talk... for a while it's fun to visit places, try clothes, hear music... but just for a while
Xirana Oximoxi: so, my first fun here is to meet and chat
Brian Roop: i'll say frankly i'm rarely bored in rl either
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Brian Roop: something of a hellraiser and rocker of boats in both
Eliza Madrigal: and yet boredom is a state of potential perhaps...
    Sunshine Vayandar: back sorry ;)
Eliza Madrigal: staying in the uncomfortableness of 'nothing happening'
    Brian Roop: np
Eliza Madrigal: no worries Sun :D
    Xirana Oximoxi: wb Sun:)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ty ;)
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Bruce ;)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Bruce:)
Brian Roop: well when you'd hurt the feelings of another by leaving a boring scene, then things get complicated

Eliza Madrigal: Morning, Bruce :) We're discussing boredom, SL, and the subjectivity of time
Brian Roop: much easier to do in sl than rl
Bruce Mowbray: Hiya, Xir, Sun, Eliza, Yaku, and Brian.
Eliza Madrigal: I've had to learn not to take it personally when the kids became old enough not to want to do what I wanted to do most of the time...
Eliza Madrigal: on the one hand, I was off the hook for driving the day, so to speak, but on the other hand... hm
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Brian Roop: Nephew: You're ruining my life! His mother: It's my job, i'm your mother!
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Xirana Oximoxi: hehehe
    Xirana Oximoxi: poor mothers))
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Brian Roop: amazing what parents learn in the time between when kids are 15 and they are 25
Brian Roop: from p/v of kids
Eliza Madrigal: I seem to have forgotten things right now, but it comes around again, hah

Eliza Madrigal: anyway.... I may have taken us off track. I suppose it IS impossible to be bored if one is fully tending to where they are?
    Eliza Madrigal: in time?

                       Brian illustrates a point...

Brian Roop: but often enough that is not easy to accomplish
    Brian Roop: brb
    Brian Roop: afk
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe

Eliza Madrigal: A pause is approaching... I wonder if we might 'fully pause' and afterward describe how we experienced the time of the 90 seconds?
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
    Brian Roop: ok

    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal listens for reports...
Sunshine Vayandar: ã‹¡ hmm I was distracted during the break ;(
Sunshine Vayandar: I hope the next one will be quiet
    Eliza Madrigal: :) that's a report!
    Brian Roop: me too
    Brian Roop: rl stuff
Xirana Oximoxi: usually, during the pause..I don't stay in 'silence':))).. I change one thought to another.. from what we have been talking about or other matters af rl ...
    Brian Roop roundly curses rl

Bruce Mowbray: My whole thing with the "drop" is to rest -- to let whatever is happening in the mental continuum empty itself - and simply rest.

Brian Roop: that's my usual approach to the 90 seconds
Brian Roop: when rl lets me
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Brian Roop: i get annoyed when people talk right through it
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Zen.
Eliza Madrigal: It was noisy here too, but I found that that seemed very lively...
Brian Roop: i think it's important
    Brian Roop: hi zen
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello Zen:)
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi zen ;))
Eliza Madrigal: vibrant... the sound of the dryer and even the 'must do today' list peeking through
    Zen Arado: Hi all :)
Eliza Madrigal: all energy to draw on, in a sense

                       Zen returns...

Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen! Welcome back!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey zen,bruce ,brrian,obs
Sunshine Vayandar: we have been very zenless while you were away
    Sunshine Vayandar: hi obs ;)
Eliza Madrigal: Zen is it difficult for you to come 'back' to SL and 'normal' noisy life now?
    Zen Arado: nah
    Eliza Madrigal waves to obs
Zen Arado: was only 6 days :)
    Zen Arado: not 3 months
Brian Roop: did it seem like more or less than 6 days?
Eliza Madrigal: :) we were somewhat restless in 90 seconds, hehe
    Zen Arado: less
Brian Roop: you were busy then
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: time warp at sesshins
Zen Arado: sitting looking at a piece of wall mostly
    Brian Roop: seeing nothing
    Zen Arado: seeing landscapes
Xirana Oximoxi: you see... we have missed Zen as if he had been away for a long time... and he's been only 6 days
    Zen Arado: changing colours
Brian Roop: on the wall or in your vision
    Eliza Madrigal: true, Xirana!
Zen Arado: it changes through the day
    Sunshine Vayandar: the light changes
Zen Arado: and there are little marks and texture on the wall
    Zen Arado: yes Sun

Eliza Madrigal: I like your phrase Bruce, 'letting it empty out'...
    Eliza Madrigal: hmm

    Zen Arado: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?

Eliza Madrigal: So were we inside the train or outside Xirana, as compared to Zen's time? heh
Xirana Oximoxi: :)) I don't know Eliza!! :)..probably inside, but not sure at all
    Eliza Madrigal smiles

Sunshine Vayandar: ty for showing the pic Zen ;))
Zen Arado: that's me beside the door
    Zen Arado: at far end
Eliza Madrigal: taking a while to rez... so far see a wonderful scroll. Do you know what it says?
    Zen Arado: no :)
Sunshine Vayandar: ahh ok I see you ;))
Eliza Madrigal: :) not knowing is most intimate
Zen Arado: my Japanese is not so good

    Eliza Madrigal: lovely, Zen...
Eliza Madrigal: fresh, light streamin through
    Zen Arado: it wa cold
    Zen Arado: I was anyway
Bruce Mowbray: Zen, are you the fellow sitting in a chair beside the door in the back?
    Zen Arado: yep
    Bruce Mowbray: k -- thanks.

    Zen Arado: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=1&theater

Zen Arado: me at the front
Eliza Madrigal: did the cold help keep you awake Zen?
    Zen Arado: maybe
Xirana Oximoxi: wonderful group Zen!!! :)
Sunshine Vayandar: ;)) yay great to see
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bruce Mowbray: That's a LARGE group for a retreat, huh?
    Zen Arado: about 40
    Bruce Mowbray: wow.
Zen Arado: usually 40 to 50
Zen Arado: they aren't all in photo

    Sunshine Vayandar: hi Riddle ;))

    Zen Arado: Hi Riddle :)
Bruce Mowbray: Here's the Riddle BEEing.
    Riddle Sideways: Hi everyBody
Eliza Madrigal: Hello Riddle Bee :) Today we've been talking about hm, actually we have a bit of a theme without trying... subjectivity of time, wall gazing, emptying out, boredom, cleaning...

Brian Roop: what's the difference between those in the robes and those not?
    ___: hello

    Sunshine Vayandar: ;))

Sunshine Vayandar: that was relaxing ;)
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Sunshine Vayandar: hmm soo I was at this club
    Sunshine Vayandar: with my grandmom
Sunshine Vayandar: in my hometown - called Szeged
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: Hungary
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;)
Sunshine Vayandar: and there was noone else
Sunshine Vayandar: apart from the musicians
Sunshine Vayandar: they had pijamas on
Sunshine Vayandar: at least it looked like that to me
    Bruce Mowbray: [`·.] APPLAUSE!! [.·´]
Sunshine Vayandar: and they were arranging the stage - they put nice carpets
    Sunshine Vayandar: and incense
Sunshine Vayandar: and then they saw that noone else was coming
Sunshine Vayandar: I felt strange ... with all these people in pijamas ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Sunshine Vayandar: we were not sure if there was gonna be a show
Sunshine Vayandar: we asked them if they would play
Sunshine Vayandar: and they said yes
Sunshine Vayandar: so we sat down
Sunshine Vayandar: right next to the stage
    Sunshine Vayandar: with my grandmom
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Sunshine Vayandar: and one of them held a sitar as later I found out
Sunshine Vayandar: the other had a tabla
    Zen Arado: nice grandmom
Sunshine Vayandar: yes super grandmom ;)
Sunshine Vayandar: and another one had yet another instrument - a smaller one with strings
Sunshine Vayandar: and they started ...
Sunshine Vayandar: first they tuned the sitar and table
    Sunshine Vayandar: tabla
Sunshine Vayandar: and it take quite a while
Sunshine Vayandar: the tabla player had a little hammer
Sunshine Vayandar: he used that to tune
    Eliza Madrigal: hmm

Sunshine Vayandar: and then ... it felt like they were tuning for ever
Sunshine Vayandar: later I found out ... that that was the show ;)

    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)))
Sunshine Vayandar: I didn't know how they switched from tuning to the raga
Sunshine Vayandar: it was so seamless
Sunshine Vayandar: and that was my first meeting with live indian vibes
Sunshine Vayandar: and a year later I moved to the capital
Sunshine Vayandar: where I could go to their club evenings every Monday
Sunshine Vayandar: for many many years
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;) the end

Sunshine Vayandar: I will try to show you their pic in a sec
Sunshine Vayandar: they were students of Ravi Shankar and Ustad Alla Rakha
    Eliza Madrigal: following the music?
Sunshine Vayandar: what is your question Liz?
Eliza Madrigal: ah, wondered if you moved to follow the music :)
    Sunshine Vayandar: ohh ;))
Sunshine Vayandar: yes it must be the case
Eliza Madrigal: ala Campbell's "follow your bliss'
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;))
Sunshine Vayandar: yay Zen has some sitar too
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you :::claps:::: lovely story
    Brian Roop: and wonderful music
    Sunshine Vayandar: hehe ;) ty
    Riddle Sideways: nice story
Eliza Madrigal: I don't suppose their pajamas looked like the ones I'm wearing ::: laughs ::
    Zen Arado: nice Sun :)
    Kodo Islay: thanks Sun
    Sunshine Vayandar: hehe
Zen Arado: I never heard live sitar
Sunshine Vayandar: you can see the pijamas there
Eliza Madrigal: my son was fascinated with sitar for a while, was sure he wanted to learn, but I took him to a church where someone was playing, and he saw it and said "hm, maybe not"...
Riddle Sideways: first satir that I saw live was Ravi Shankar at Woodstock
Sunshine Vayandar: it was a special thing since Hungary was not a place where u could hear music from India or Africa
    Sunshine Vayandar: Really Liz?
    Zen Arado: quite large instrument
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice, Riddle
Sunshine Vayandar: it seems very complex
    Eliza Madrigal: yes exactly
Eliza Madrigal: but I did find him an ocarina, hehe
Riddle Sideways: it is very complex
    Sunshine Vayandar: ;))
    Zen Arado: lots of tuning:)
    Sunshine Vayandar: uh yes

Sunshine Vayandar: I know that Zen

                     Bruce begins a story...

Bruce Mowbray: (Zen knows about "losing" mind. . . .

    Bruce Mowbray: I tried, Zen.
Bruce Mowbray: learned to meditate, for one thing. . .

Zen Arado tries to lose mind...
    Sunshine Vayandar tries too
Bruce Mowbray: would rather say, I learned to "empty" mind --
Bruce Mowbray: or better, to let mind empty itself.

Eliza Madrigal: oops, someone left the door open, mind got out...
    Sunshine Vayandar listens
    Kodo Islay: :)
