    oO0Oo Resident: Cheers Calvino!
Calvino Rabeni: Good evening oO0Oo and Dash !
    Dash Earthboy: hey y'all
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Dash
Calvino Rabeni: let there be Grass :)
    Dash Earthboy: oh goody!
Dash Earthboy: *hums "Green Green Grass of Home"
Calvino Rabeni sets viewer on "full screen"
Calvino Rabeni: ah, that's better :)
Dash Earthboy: and now for the sound check...:)
    Dash Earthboy: jk :)
    Dash Earthboy: hey druth
    druth Vlodovic: hi guys
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Druth
Calvino Rabeni: :) Druth good evening
Dash Earthboy: just setting up :)
    druth Vlodovic: setting up?
Dash Earthboy: Cal got us some lawn to sprawl on
Calvino Rabeni: I saw a free barbeque up the street
Dash Earthboy: i got some coke
Calvino Rabeni: ehh, too bad it's in RL and there's no easy Import function
Dash Earthboy: gotta work on that :)
druth Vlodovic: and you're here? that's dedication
druth Vlodovic: we had the wildest orange sunset tonight
Calvino Rabeni: Oh, well it didn't actually have food... it was bring-your-own
Dash Earthboy: now we have a picnic :)
druth Vlodovic: the whole sky was red/orange, usually it means there is a huge forest fire up north
    Dash Earthboy: yikes
Calvino Rabeni: Better there than in the front yard
    Dash Earthboy: hey Aph
    Dash Earthboy: hi Roger
    Dash Earthboy: hey Susan
    druth Vlodovic: hi aph, susan
    Roger Ormenthal: Hi all.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Dash
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi druth
    Aphrodite Macbain wavs at everyone
oO0Oo Resident: RE: Ornage skies: http://is.gd/0yZ0uo
Calvino Rabeni: I used to live in such a fire prone area ... I got used to the orange light as normal
Calvino Rabeni: One day I was shocked to see everything in a really surrealistic glow ... it took a couple of minutes to realize, it was just normal sunlight
    druth Vlodovic: lol
Calvino Rabeni: Aph, Roger, Susan .. welcome :)
    --BELL--

    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanls Calvino
    Aphrodite Macbain: also thanks
Calvino Rabeni: The pause is almost upon us .. shall we invent a new ... awareness?
Aphrodite Macbain: It IS upon us
Aphrodite Macbain: a new awareness Cal?
    Dash Earthboy: hey Storm...wb Roger
    Storm Nordwind: Hi everyone
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi storm
    Calvino Rabeni: Good evening Storm
    oO0Oo Resident: [sp? *Orange] lol
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi evryone

We're talking about the weather in this session ... I don't think that's a bad sign, given that Hurricane Irene is still moving up the eastern seaboard, creates a dramatic field for millions, reminds us of the risk and power of nature.  Any excuse for the occasional sense of awe seems like a good thing.

Calvino Rabeni: Have you had the typical exciting Rocky Mountain summer weather, Storm?
Storm Nordwind: Oh very much so, thank you! For much of the last two months, though they are waning now. :)
Dash Earthboy: and don't forget the earthquake, Storm :)
Storm Nordwind: Ah yes - I felt it here. Richter 5.3
Calvino Rabeni: I lived in the foothills there for a while ... summer evenings could be like the fourth of july fireworks display, watching multiple lightning storms over the Great Plains
Calvino Rabeni: Really there too, wow
Dash Earthboy: we finally cooled off a little today with some clouds and light rain
Storm Nordwind: Lightning appears to dance here, over the mountains, the foothills - just everywhere. Beautiful and terrible at the same time.
Dash Earthboy: glad to learn most contacts on the east coast weren't hurt by Irene
    oO0Oo Resident: agreed Dash
Storm Nordwind: One of my daughters is based in Brooklyn at the moment. Haven't heard from her but I expect she's OK
    oO0Oo Resident: _/\_
Aphrodite Macbain: Did she pack up and tempoerarily leave Brooklyn?
    Dash Earthboy: _/\_
Aphrodite Macbain feels sorry about her typos
Storm Nordwind: No. She stayed. She's managing a band/singer on tour at the moment. She chose to stay with the singer. I think they have a gig in Vermont tonight.
Aphrodite Macbain: the play must go on
Storm Nordwind: Yes. It turned out to be less than an average winter Scottish storm anyway.
    Aphrodite Macbain: winter Scottish storm?
Aphrodite Macbain: don't they have snow in Scotland?
oO0Oo Resident: I like Sophia Sharon's response before the Hurricane arrived: "I'm sure this storm will bring damage a d there's nothing I can do about that. I've always wanted to yell into a hurricane.""
Storm Nordwind: Yes. That kind of wind and rain are common on the west coast in winter there. And snow is quite rare there in the central lowlands these days.
Calvino Rabeni: Friend of mine lives on the coast in S. Carolina ... just another unpredictable part of life to take in stride
    Aphrodite Macbain: ah.
Aphrodite Macbain likes the idea of yelling into a hurricane
Calvino Rabeni remembers a song with words like "Throw My Brain in a Hurricane"
Storm Nordwind switches on his audio to hear Cal sing ;)
Aphrodite Macbain: I know that feeling
oO0Oo Resident: is it me or is the Pavilion starting to twirl?
Aphrodite Macbain: Today I sat on a bench and watched hundreds of dragon flies flitting by. Must be the season. The air was full of them
Calvino Rabeni: Ah, found the lyrics
    Calvino Rabeni: http://lyricsplayground.com/alpha/songs/p/pleasedontburyme.shtml
Aphrodite Macbain: he he Cal. Thanks
Calvino Rabeni: Possibly, 0, by looking at the revolving fish a long time, then stopping, the pavilion may be made to appear rotating
    oO0Oo Resident appreciates these lyrics
    Aphrodite Macbain: great lyrics Cal
    --BELL--

Storm Nordwind is too naive to understand the Milwaukee+beer reference, but appreciated the lyrics - thank you
Dash Earthboy: *thinks he's heard John Prine perform this song :)
Calvino Rabeni: Yes it is a good ol' Prine song
Dash Earthboy: Storm, there's actually an "Old Milwaukee" beer brand :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Looks like you're playing a piece of cake DAsh
Dash Earthboy: sry Aph, I was helping us setup a picnic here before y'all came
Aphrodite Macbain: picnic? Did I miss some good food?
    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks.
Storm Nordwind: Thanks Dash - I'm learning a new culture here!
Calvino Rabeni: Here's a curious bit of cultural uncertainty - what is the "accent" of the Skype test call / voicemail lady?
    Aphrodite Macbain: English
Storm Nordwind: It changed to London for a while. No idea now
oO0Oo Resident: Skype was purchased by Microsoft
    Dash Earthboy: ain't it a shame :(
Dash Earthboy: just to compete w/Google
    oO0Oo Resident: US$ 8.5 Billion
Calvino Rabeni: my observations are (1) it's hard to google that information, (2) an australian friend says "definitely American", (3) a blog says "most think her Russian", and (4) other web sites say "English for sure"
Storm Nordwind: Oh she's definitely English - I was trying to determine which part of England!
    Calvino Rabeni finds that persuasive
Dash Earthboy: been awhile, but she sounded Nordic to me :)
oO0Oo Resident: I thought maybe the Isle of Sky-pe
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
    oO0Oo Resident: somewhere in there
    druth Vlodovic: 'night all
    Dash Earthboy: g'nite druth
    Calvino Rabeni: Good night :)
oO0Oo Resident: Little known fact: She is married to "Tom" on MySpace
    oO0Oo Resident: Bye Susan
Dash Earthboy: *thought Susan was waving to druth
Storm Nordwind: She has a flat "a" which is north of England, but no other telltale signs of north England. So perhaps just a well educated northerner. :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Mine is a very perky English woman
    Aphrodite Macbain: nite druth
Dash Earthboy: i don't use the voicemail feature of Skype
oO0Oo Resident: [apologies Susan] Night Druth
Calvino Rabeni: I don't either, but get the recording when a contact is offline
    Dash Earthboy: aha
Aphrodite Macbain: My 85-year old mother is just beginning to Skype me...
Aphrodite Macbain: not sure how I feel about this
    Dash Earthboy: hey San
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hiya San
    Storm Nordwind waves
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Santo
Dash Earthboy: I'm all for seniors using Skype Aph
Dash Earthboy: it's a whole new world for them, y'know?
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm sure they're glad to hear that Dash
Storm Nordwind looks in mirror and wonders whether he counts as a senior ;)
Aphrodite Macbain pulls out another grey hair
    Storm Nordwind: Ouch
    --BELL--

Dash Earthboy: i was doing video chats with mother and son 7 years ago when mother was close to 80
Storm Nordwind: Pull your own next time Aph! ;)
oO0Oo Resident: Just don't refer to them as "we".. ::grinning sidelong::
    Aphrodite Macbain grins
Aphrodite Macbain raises an eyebrow at 0
Dash Earthboy: (1) for sure Sam, (2) i'm already getting AARP notices for almost 10 years now
oO0Oo Resident: thanks for taking that in strde Dash
Aphrodite Macbain: we as in me or we as in you 0?
    oO0Oo Resident: *stride
    Aphrodite Macbain: astride?
Santoshima Resident: dash is that cheescake you're typing with ?
    Aphrodite Macbain: it's very sticky
Dash Earthboy: i think it's chocolate
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Dash Earthboy: like the Reese's cake i had for dessert tonight :)
Dash Earthboy: i've been pigging out this weekend :)
Aphrodite Macbain: my teeth hurt thinking about it
Santoshima Resident: are you getting reimbursed for product placement? (no names) see right hand ...
Dash Earthboy: just a fan San
    Dash Earthboy: :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: San fan --cisco?
Dash Earthboy: well the Cisco kid was a friend of mine :)
Dash Earthboy: or some such lyric :)
    Dash Earthboy: Santana?
Calvino Rabeni: Speaking of weather... I wonder if we have a collective impression of the "mood" atmosphere? It changes from time to time... has anyone an impression of what the mood barometer would indicate?
Dash Earthboy: i'm tana after all the sun this weekend :)
    Calvino Rabeni: :) Dash
Aphrodite Macbain: hmmmm can you say more Cal?
Calvino Rabeni: The question is about the collective mood influences
Calvino Rabeni: like observing whether friends or self have a change in that mood color
Aphrodite Macbain: where is this barometer located?
Calvino Rabeni: It is located in you, Aph :)
Calvino Rabeni: And in your friends
Aphrodite Macbain: then it's a very subjective barometre
Dash Earthboy: or on a cheap costume jewelry ring :)
    Santoshima Resident: good!
    Aphrodite Macbain giggles at Dash
Storm Nordwind: Do you mean global Cal, or local to where we live, or perhaps here in SL? I do find I pick up different modds from others according to where I am.
Calvino Rabeni: Does that mean "not real" or "not collective" ?
    Calvino Rabeni: (meaning "subjective" ?)
    Calvino Rabeni: Perhaps global Storm
Calvino Rabeni: Local places might have their own field effects
Dash Earthboy: guess SAD is the most famous collective weather mood change
Calvino Rabeni: So I suppose, either
Aphrodite Macbain: It is located in you, Aph :) = subjective
Calvino Rabeni: Yes that one's easy to conjecture how it works
Aphrodite Macbain: collective = no idea
    Calvino Rabeni: Nods
Storm Nordwind: Interesting question Cal. I wonder if I'm rather dwelling on the local to often appreciate the global.
Calvino Rabeni: Local on what scales?
Aphrodite Macbain: most of my friends are dealing with a summer that has just arrived and is about to leave.
Aphrodite Macbain: So the mood is hurried, trying to make up for lost time
    Aphrodite Macbain: hurried
Aphrodite Macbain: knowing labour day is just around the corner
Calvino Rabeni: Judging it is a little like the stock market, you can make a conjecture for just about anything ... it's really hard to know for sure
Storm Nordwind: Local as in household, village 0 even city gets rather a conglomerate for me. It's like listening to everyone talking at once! :)
Calvino Rabeni: I feel that one Aphro
Calvino Rabeni: especially given the cold spring
    Aphrodite Macbain: exactly
Calvino Rabeni: Here's an article that made me wonder, though
    Calvino Rabeni: http://theweek.com/article/index/218318/did-solar-flares-cause-the-london-riots
Calvino Rabeni: It looks at whether solar activity biases human moods and behaviors
Aphrodite Macbain: weee're maiking hay while the sun shines
    Aphrodite Macbain: and getting sunburns
Calvino Rabeni: Yeah I did some haymaking today too Aph
Calvino Rabeni: and was in good company
    Aphrodite Macbain: achooo
Dash Earthboy: yah Cal...solar flares, tides, full moon
Aphrodite Macbain: nice. I was in good company too
Aphrodite Macbain: What effect do sun flares have on us?
Calvino Rabeni: According to the article, worry and depression
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh!
    Calvino Rabeni: or increased reactivity
Storm Nordwind: I've found it is possible for a mood to catch. Mass hysteria seems a very real phenomenon. I wasn't aware that solar flares had an input though.
    Calvino Rabeni: (not nice effects)
Aphrodite Macbain: Have we had some recently? It's never in the weather report!
Calvino Rabeni: It's easier to believe they spread through communication arising more from social than physical factors
Calvino Rabeni: Oh yes there have been
Calvino Rabeni: and supposedly it will be active through 2013
Aphrodite Macbain: Jack Layton's funeral had a huge effect on the Canadian people
Aphrodite Macbain: a sense of community; common values, aspirations
Storm Nordwind: I remember when Pricess Diana died, there was a strongly tangible feel in the air for days, in several different parts of England
    --BELL--

    Aphrodite Macbain: yes
Calvino Rabeni: I think that would be good, to have solar activity in the weather reports, good idea Aph
Aphrodite Macbain: the power of the media
Aphrodite Macbain whispers: 'must go and return a phone call. nite all"
    Dash Earthboy: 'nite Aph
    oO0Oo Resident: Night Aph
Storm Nordwind: If solar flares had an input I would expect to see an 11 or perhaps 22 year cycle in riots worldwide.
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
Calvino Rabeni: Take care Aph :)
    Storm Nordwind waves
Dash Earthboy: naturally these things effect politics during the period as well
Calvino Rabeni: So many effects and influences mix together ... like we live in an ocean where the waves are a mixture of different winds, currents, reflections off islands, the wakes of large ships, small quakes, and so on
    Storm Nordwind nods
Calvino Rabeni: We may come to a future point where there are enough physical measurements from many different sources, to be able to start to separate out the different levels and bands
Dash Earthboy: some influence the gravitational forces around each of us differently in different parts of the world too
Dash Earthboy: changes in gravitation effects our circulatory system
Storm Nordwind: That would be interesting Cal. Though I'm afraid that teasing out the correlations with statistics is beyond my skill nowadays.
Dash Earthboy: which effects pretty much everything else
Calvino Rabeni: It might take some specialists with supercomputers to set it up
Calvino Rabeni: or perhaps some cooperative sangha of sensitive people with good internal "rudders"
Calvino Rabeni: but that wouldn't get the respect that the science approach might gather
    Storm Nordwind: You're right sadly
    Calvino Rabeni: sadly
    Dash Earthboy: cries
Storm Nordwind: I seem to remember scientific research from 4 decades or more ago that found the effect of the moon...
Storm Nordwind: Seems that people isolated from the daylight change to a 25 hour cycle
Storm Nordwind: Which is a lunar cycle.
Storm Nordwind: And they only get 'reset' by the sunlight
Calvino Rabeni: Conjecturing they "sync" to the lunar signal?
Storm Nordwind: Not sure if i have the reference for that research though, so apologies for the tease!
Storm Nordwind: Yes, that was the hypothesis
Dash Earthboy: another reason to be a vampire: more productive hours in a day :)
Calvino Rabeni: But you'd have to deal with SAD then Dash :)
Storm Nordwind: Ah - SAD - a very real problem where i lived for 6 years
Dash Earthboy: the right imbibing might help that Cal :)
Calvino Rabeni: Possibly only a few hours of the day are truly the productive ones ... the others may form a support, the yin for that yang
Calvino Rabeni: Now you're treated to bright winters, Storm :)
Storm Nordwind: Yes indeed - enough to get sunburn in January!
Dash Earthboy: with wonderful lightning fireworks :)
Storm Nordwind: No more need for halogen lamps pointed at the keyboard :)
Calvino Rabeni: Can't beat it ... sun in January and lightning in summer
Santoshima Resident: must sleep ~ g'night all
    Dash Earthboy: g'nite San
    Storm Nordwind: Bye!
    Calvino Rabeni: Good night San
    oO0Oo Resident: Night Santo
    Calvino Rabeni: And Dash
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
    Santoshima Resident: nite
Dash Earthboy: pax et bonum y'all
    Storm Nordwind waves
    --BELL--

    oO0Oo Resident: Night dash
Storm Nordwind: Please excuse me friends. I too must retire. Thank you for the discussion :)
Calvino Rabeni: YW Take care, Storm
    iwandertoo Resident: waves
    Storm Nordwind: Namaste
oO0Oo Resident: :) Storm.. Rest well.
    iwandertoo Resident: best to everyone
    Calvino Rabeni waves
oO0Oo Resident: and to you.. iwandertoo!
oO0Oo Resident: "*", grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.
    Calvino Rabeni: Greetings, Steve :)
Calvino Rabeni smiles at a familiar prayer
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi cal, Samud
    oO0Oo Resident: Hiya stevenaia
    stevenaia Michinaga: busy evening?
Calvino Rabeni: It was.. you just missed the exodus
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/today.html
    oO0Oo Resident: Today's space Weather
    stevenaia Michinaga: no wonder
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Calvino Rabeni: The Serenity Prayer is not as old as I thought
    Calvino Rabeni: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_Prayer
Calvino Rabeni breaths a sigh of relief at "Solar activity is expected to be very low during the period (29 - 31 August)" :)
stevenaia Michinaga: is that a forecast?
Calvino Rabeni: Yes I believe it is
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps UTC only appears to be tomorrow
stevenaia Michinaga: reads forecast in 1st line...smiles
    stevenaia Michinaga: fasinating
Calvino Rabeni: We were talking earlier about how we are collectively permeated by many fields of a physical and social nature
Calvino Rabeni: including possibly solar flare activity
Calvino Rabeni: though, I have a conjecture to sort of balance that idea
    oO0Oo Resident: ?
Calvino Rabeni: it is - "appropriate use of the 90-second awareness pause can result in increase of free will availability"
oO0Oo Resident: mmm... yes.. concur, and predict increased <3
stevenaia Michinaga: balance it, is it out of balance?
Calvino Rabeni: In a way I believe it is, Steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: can you explain?
stevenaia Michinaga: the short verion, of course
Calvino Rabeni: I'll give it a try after the pause
Calvino Rabeni: (don't too much like to get an intellectual act interrupted)
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: Accessed anything on free will?
stevenaia Michinaga: is that a question?
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, I was considering it in relation to the 90 second pause
oO0Oo Resident: more availability if that could be a feeling of sorts
Calvino Rabeni: whether that had the ability to increase access to free will
Calvino Rabeni: or gave any insight into it
Calvino Rabeni: I was thinking, will could only be meaningful in relation to real action (in the moment), not as an idea but as something enacted in the world
stevenaia Michinaga: if you belive it, wouldn;t you ahve greater access to it by thinking about it?
Calvino Rabeni: perhaps the feeling is part of the ability to act
oO0Oo Resident: coming back from letting go renders an encounter with choice of a kind
    Calvino Rabeni: mmm yes
Calvino Rabeni: and it seems a bit different than before
Calvino Rabeni: maybe Steve, to me it depends on what gets mobilized by thinking about it
Calvino Rabeni: I could imagine an action and not do it, or even be inhibited in the doing of it
stevenaia Michinaga: if you have not pondered free will, it does not exclude you from having it
    Calvino Rabeni: true
Calvino Rabeni: but perhaps pondering can change the way it works a little, but significant, amount
Calvino Rabeni: on the other hand, what happens during the 90 second awareness pause might not be pondering, and at the same time might give a positive effect through other means
oO0Oo Resident: Reminded of some kind of task seen or persued differently afternight of sleep
Calvino Rabeni: I know that one too, oO0Oo
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, or living by it as an un-named " sence" only to discover its name later in life
Calvino Rabeni: reducing noise, increasing focus, clarifying action, as a side effect of having stopped previous actions and gone to a balanced ready state. Maybe
Calvino Rabeni: Like the Taoist story "Fasting of the Heart" ... a man has all kinds of plans and strategems to deal with a dangerous and complicated situation. Confucious advises him ... in that case you must fast... He didn't mean not eat food, he meant, let go of fixated attitudes on a deep level (the heart)
    Calvino Rabeni: nice Steve yes
stevenaia Michinaga: the clouds part, clearity emerges
    oO0Oo Resident smiles
oO0Oo Resident: how to be an atuned vessel?
Calvino Rabeni: A good night's sleep can help that
stevenaia Michinaga: I think we all are tuned vessels, it's our hearing that needs work
stevenaia Michinaga: listening with our heart
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: My experience is that the internal shapes change, and that changes the tuning
Calvino Rabeni: It seems possible (and useful) to re-tune oneself
    stevenaia Michinaga: shapes?
Calvino Rabeni: shapes, the bodily felt sense of responding
    stevenaia Michinaga: shapes of thoughts?
    Calvino Rabeni: yeah
    Calvino Rabeni: shapes of thoughts
oO0Oo Resident: is that a scary journey?
Calvino Rabeni: I find it reassuring
    oO0Oo Resident: how please?
Calvino Rabeni: I think there are studies that show ... it's scarier to be out of tune with the environment than in tune, because the direct knowledge is reassuring
    oO0Oo Resident: OK
Calvino Rabeni: Like relaxing, one becomes more aware with a wider field
Calvino Rabeni: or if I went to the edge of a canyon, opening up my body and taking a deep breath would make the canyon impression take form in a greater way
Calvino Rabeni: Another thought was, walking on a pebbly beach, and say I was interested in finding heart-shaped stones among the millions there
Calvino Rabeni: I could adjust my perception process to make them more easily stand out
Calvino Rabeni: so after a while I would be "tuned" to see the heart shaped ones a lot easier
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, for a moment I thought of it as "work" but I see it;s jsut a matter of focusing on less
    Calvino Rabeni: Focus and responsiveness
Calvino Rabeni: paying attention with a physical component to it
Calvino Rabeni: There was a question about balance, from before the last pause
Calvino Rabeni: what I meant earlier ..if I'm with someone in a noisy restaurant, and I say "it's sure noisy here" then chances are my companion will focus on the noise too, and that would change the "tuning" ... making it harder to pay attention to the conversation due to the distractions
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi, Paradise :)
    oO0Oo Resident nods
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Paradise
Calvino Rabeni: So I'd have changed the balance of the system by making that comment
Calvino Rabeni: and if I looked annoyed and tense it would maintain it
Calvino Rabeni: if I relaxed and smiled it might "rebalance" the system
Calvino Rabeni: getting back to an ease
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
    oO0Oo Resident: welcome Paradise
Paradise Tennant: smiles and waves all round and listens . to the very late late session "_
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: we all have that ability, Cal
    Calvino Rabeni: :) sure do
stevenaia Michinaga: just a matter of using to the advatage of "calm"
Calvino Rabeni: I was thinking, awareness, like in the 90 second pause, might make it easier to access that ability
    --BELL--

oO0Oo Resident: Imagine the span of flares of calm in the universe
Calvino Rabeni: If the ability is there, but not noticed, and awareness makes it apparent and possible to use in action, then in a sense it gives free will an embodiment in the world
oO0Oo Resident: and atunement a chance
Calvino Rabeni: Attunement gets a chance, yes
Calvino Rabeni: I am thinking, perhaps, of answering the question "what good does content-less awareness make in the world"
Calvino Rabeni: It's a basic thing I guess.. when people don't "get" what good meditation might be, it's a rationale they might understand
Paradise Tennant: we become the space where life happens unhindered by ...
Calvino Rabeni: Space ... a good term, meaning something real ... hard to define
Paradise Tennant: attunement .. balance .. oneness ...
Calvino Rabeni smiles ... maybe zeroness
    oO0Oo Resident: UTC
    stevenaia Michinaga: UTC?
oO0Oo Resident: birth of time and longing
Calvino Rabeni looks it up ... UTC stands for "Coordinated Universal Time" .. a common reference for time measurements
Paradise Tennant: smiles ..everything has a beginning :)
Calvino Rabeni: It makes me think of the Hitchiker's Guide story of the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
    Calvino Rabeni: That's the end
Calvino Rabeni: no matter where we are
Calvino Rabeni: if we wait long enough
Calvino Rabeni: we will meet there for lunch
    --BELL--

oO0Oo Resident feels limits of words
Calvino Rabeni: It's a sweet time of year .. the summer night air moving slowly through the house, carrying the sounds of a live jazz piano, played in a relaxed way, an extended sound
Calvino Rabeni: as relaxed as practicing, not with the pressure of a performance, more a musician's meditation
Calvino Rabeni: along with the bittersweet realization, the high days of summer are numbered, and we know what's ahead
Calvino Rabeni: marked symbolically in this country by an end-of-summer holiday weekend
oO0Oo Resident looks down with water laden eyes
Calvino Rabeni: words may have a limit
Calvino Rabeni: but they don't limit the feeling
Calvino Rabeni: A longing to rise to an experience of timelessness while still staying in the play of time
Paradise Tennant: the fullness of time :) applies to some moments more than others it seems
    Calvino Rabeni: It seems :)
stevenaia Michinaga: wonders how fast is the speed of joy
oO0Oo Resident beams a smile across the world
Paradise Tennant: smiles much faster than the speed of light :)
Calvino Rabeni: Listening to the barking of the dogs, enjoying their talk for now, they have started a conversation spread around the neighborhood, along the hillside among the trees, now that the traffic sounds have opened a space for it, it comes forth
Calvino Rabeni: (traffic calming, I meant)
stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, looking to slow it down to make it last longer
oO0Oo Resident: cosmic dance of deep endearment watching passing ship of impermanence
Calvino Rabeni: I've thought of it as slowing, but it makes "space" for there to be more ticks and turns in the present and the moments
Calvino Rabeni: and also tuning to the slower more gradual of all the changing things
oO0Oo Resident: Rumi looks into lovers eyes
Paradise Tennant: smiles he could speak with such ease to the magic that is just beneath the mundane
Calvino Rabeni: Often with a sense of longing and sacrifice, I felt reading Rumi
    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: an impatience .. to be one with god.. ? to be fully part of the divine ?
oO0Oo Resident: This poem shall remain unwritten
Paradise Tennant: It will dwell in my heart .. with out form .. :)
Paradise Tennant: wonders if maybe he felt .. already part of the divine :)
oO0Oo Resident: and yet, as with traffic, so too dogs sigh to make way for echos swept round hillsides .. shivering spines, and blinking away tears, and smiling the smiles of feast with friends and wonders all and .. wonders all..
    oO0Oo Resident smiles
oO0Oo Resident: how nice to be here with you all
    oO0Oo Resident: thank you
Calvino Rabeni: I think we hope Rumi felt part of the divine, and, so often his poems have that bittersweet sense of sometimes being connected, sometimes not

Some popular Rumi poems are at http://www.americanistan.com/id24.html

Calvino Rabeni: good night oO0Oo; fly well
Paradise Tennant: nite nite O namaste :)
    oO0Oo Resident: Namaste
    stevenaia Michinaga: Night oO0O
stevenaia Michinaga: bedtime for me, night all
Calvino Rabeni:  Rumi is counseling, not to limit one's longing based on a calculation or expectation of what is attainable or has been attained in the past
Calvino Rabeni: that the divine is attracted to the longing itself
Paradise Tennant: nite nite stev sweet dreams :)
Calvino Rabeni: (or something like that)
Calvino Rabeni: Good night Sleep well :)
Paradise Tennant: It is like he has big .. well of energy within him ..
    Paradise Tennant: smiles :)
Calvino Rabeni: Pride would say .. how can I dance with the divine, it's not an equal partnership and I am clumsy and off-rhythm ... Rumi would say yes, dance, accept the imperfection
Paradise Tennant: smiles yes he would ..
Paradise Tennant: I guess the word I would use is he is open
Paradise Tennant: a completely open soul
    --BELL--

Lucinda Lavender: yes...many have stories to tell I bet
    Paradise Tennant: yes
Lucinda Lavender: like the sound of what you saw Paradise
Paradise Tennant: the sky was robin egg blue on the lower half on the horizon and completely cloud white on the top half ... the line demarcating the two could have been drawn with a ruler
Paradise Tennant: just looked like someone had painted it on
Lucinda Lavender: wow...blue and white eh?
Lucinda Lavender: I am wearing blue and white and drinking from a blue and white mug
