The Guardian for this meeting was Calvino Rabeni. The comments are by Calvino Rabeni.

    Lawrence Vyceratops: hi, Cal
Calvino Rabeni: Hi Law, how are things?
    Lawrence Vyceratops: well. and you?
Lawrence Vyceratops: how does it whisper? it does that to me occasionally... haha
Calvino Rabeni: I'm not sure how it whispers
Calvino Rabeni: Doing pretty well, bundled up against the cold
Lawrence Vyceratops: having a pretty warm winter here :)
Calvino Rabeni: Live in the tropics?
Lawrence Vyceratops: no. live in mississippi
Calvino Rabeni: That's a lot warmer than Washington
Lawrence Vyceratops: yes, it's been rather mild. mostly in the 40s and 50s.
Calvino Rabeni: It was fun today .. with my video phone, taking it out in the street and showing the snow to my friend who wasn't familiar with snow  which doesn't happen in her climate
Calvino Rabeni: interested to know what you can do with it
Calvino Rabeni: like, pick it up, mold it into shapes, throw it, eat it, etc.
Lawrence Vyceratops: haha yes, we get snow once every few years, generally.
Calvino Rabeni: I noticed what people get used to and take for granted that their area offers
Calvino Rabeni: Me: what about the crocodiles? ... Oh we don't worry too much about them
Calvino Rabeni: Friend: yes but what about the bears? .. Oh, well they are shy and don't generally cause trouble
    Lawrence Vyceratops: haha
Calvino Rabeni: There are no hurricanes, tornados, etc.
Calvino Rabeni: Maybe the occasional wild fire though
Calvino Rabeni: and every now and then an earthquake :)
Calvino Rabeni: The floors aren't level and the doorways are I think trapezoidal
Lawrence Vyceratops: there are tornadoes here
    --BELL--

Lawrence Vyceratops: other than that, just mosquitoes.
Calvino Rabeni: Those little buggers have pretty much faded into the background
Calvino Rabeni: I'd need to be working outdoors at dusk to encounter one
Calvino Rabeni: There must not be a lot of them
    Lawrence Vyceratops: lots 'round here.
    Lawrence Vyceratops: hi, Aphrodite
Aphrodite Macbain: Hello fellow dragon. Hi Calvino
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi Aphro
Aphrodite Macbain: I have just discovered these amazing metabodies
Aphrodite Macbain: that you can change and share
    Lawrence Vyceratops: what are metabodies?
Aphrodite Macbain: meta=half. I guess a mix of human and other
Lawrence Vyceratops: oh, i see! haha
    Aphrodite Macbain: Here's another
    Lawrence Vyceratops: haha funny
    Aphrodite Macbain: and another
    Aphrodite Macbain: called "chart man"
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Calvino Rabeni: That one is interesting
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes!
Calvino Rabeni: sort of like a self-apiary
Aphrodite Macbain: But here comes my fave
    Aphrodite Macbain: fog
Aphrodite Macbain: kinda fits with where I live
    Aphrodite Macbain: end of demo
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Aphrodite Macbain: Have you been to PaB before Lawrence?
    Calvino Rabeni: He has yes
    Lawrence Vyceratops: yes. lots
Aphrodite Macbain: Hmm funny I cant remeber you. I would have remembered that tattoo anywhere!
Aphrodite Macbain: we must have come to different sessions
Lawrence Vyceratops: i used to come here a lot over a year ago. i haven't been since then. had a baby. :)
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
Lawrence Vyceratops: well, i was here last night and a few times before, recently.
Aphrodite Macbain: Ah.A baby can consume a lot of time!
    --BELL--

Lawrence Vyceratops: he is 7 mos now, so he has become quite independent. ignoring us and such heheh
Aphrodite Macbain: How are you Cal? Been busy?
    Aphrodite Macbain: oopssosrry
Calvino Rabeni: out to dinner with a friend yesterday ... home improvment job ... not too busy actually
Aphrodite Macbain: home improvement jobs can always be quite satisfying. You can see the results
Aphrodite Macbain: If you get help, it's even nicer
Calvino Rabeni: oh yes, there are various "hard edges" in those projects
Calvino Rabeni: where you have to make a decision that's not easily reversible
Calvino Rabeni: I was reading a science article about how a baby and mother can sync their heartbeats ... I was curious how it works
Calvino Rabeni: and whether it could work with a man
Lawrence Vyceratops: people tend to sync their breathing often
Aphrodite Macbain: wonders why they would need to have synchonized heartbeats
Aphrodite Macbain: what purpose would it serve?
    Calvino Rabeni: empathic attunement
Aphrodite Macbain: hhhmmmm sounds like magnetic convergence
Calvino Rabeni: the mother is part of the whole mechanism of regulation of the infant
Calvino Rabeni: an external body intelligence
Calvino Rabeni: affecting emotions, hormones, biochemistry, all related to that
Aphrodite Macbain: I always thought that the heartbeat related to the size of the person and the amount of blood it needs to pump around it
Aphrodite Macbain: but that wasn't based on any real information
Calvino Rabeni: body biochemistry can be measured to create information
    Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Calvino Rabeni: for instance there's a stress cycle
    Calvino Rabeni: measured by hormones
    Aphrodite Macbain: cycle?
Aphrodite Macbain: adrenalin produced by the adrenal glands
Calvino Rabeni: yes,  it has a daily pattern, for instance adults when they wake up in the morning, the stress hormones get activated or go up in quantity during the wake-up transition
Calvino Rabeni: as they mobilize to be active in the daily activities
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh I see
Calvino Rabeni: while for babies that doesn't happen
Calvino Rabeni: until at a certain age they internalize their own regulation
Calvino Rabeni: but as infants it is run by the mother
Aphrodite Macbain: w/o any prompting from external stimulii?
Aphrodite Macbain: so a child that isn't breast fed or held by the mother can be adversely affected?
Calvino Rabeni: I'm not sure what age .. young, people get the ability of self-regulating those hormones
Calvino Rabeni: the young child has external regulation in the mother, so their stress hormone level tracks hers
    Aphrodite Macbain: nods
    Aphrodite Macbain: tense mother=tense baby?
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
Aphrodite Macbain: wonder how an orphan survives
Calvino Rabeni: it's hard to thrive
    Aphrodite Macbain: w/o that support
Calvino Rabeni: and there are difficulties with development, health problems later
Aphrodite Macbain: can a father have the same effect as the mother?
    Aphrodite Macbain: (heart beat etc)
Calvino Rabeni: that would be a good thing to investigate
    Aphrodite Macbain: nods.
Calvino Rabeni: I think the current opinion is no, but it's not based on thorough investigation yet
    Lawrence Vyceratops: interesting
Calvino Rabeni: There are spiritual practices that work probably using the same functions in the body mind
Calvino Rabeni: the gaze of a guru is very powerful to some people
Aphrodite Macbain: that's another whole enormous conversation I would love to have
Aphrodite Macbain: can we talk about it some time?
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes surely
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm off for dinner now. Nice to have an interesting hors d'oeuvres discussion
    Calvino Rabeni: Bon Appetit :)
    Lawrence Vyceratops: bye, Aphrodite
Calvino Rabeni: Watch out for the snow :)
Aphrodite Macbain: :-) I will. (puts another og on the fire)
    Aphrodite Macbain: log
Calvino Rabeni: Perhaps we'll have a fresh layer of it tonight
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Calvino Rabeni: Ah .. wow, I could do that too, I've an unused fireplace
    --BELL--

Aphrodite Macbain: It warms up the place in many ways!
Calvino Rabeni: nods, fire is wonderful to have around
Lawrence Vyceratops: you have children, Cal?
    Calvino Rabeni: No..
Calvino Rabeni: Not that I'm aware of :)
    Lawrence Vyceratops: hahaha
Calvino Rabeni: So much changes .. I think it's fair to say internally as well as otherwise
Calvino Rabeni: I've often wondered how my life and outlook and priorities would be different, if I had
Calvino Rabeni: Yours is the first?
    Lawrence Vyceratops: yes
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
    Lawrence Vyceratops: he's a funny boy :)
Calvino Rabeni: A big learning experience for all concerned :)
    Lawrence Vyceratops: indeed
    Lawrence Vyceratops: hi, stevenaia
    Calvino Rabeni: Hi Stevenaia :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi CAl, Lawrence
stevenaia Michinaga: how are your evenings?
    Lawrence Vyceratops: dark ;)
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, and cold here
Calvino Rabeni: I'm well-bundled, but a fur coat would be nice to have right about now
Calvino Rabeni: I have multiple layers
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, they always are
Lawrence Vyceratops: feel quite fortunate in my t-shirt :)
stevenaia Michinaga: was jsut preparing for my week ahead, much like a meditation
    --BELL--

Lawrence Vyceratops: when someone asks, what do you want to eat, do you ever say something that's just fun to say, but not because that's what you really want?
Calvino Rabeni: I probably have, Law .. can't recall the specifics
Calvino Rabeni: That's really interesting, Stev
Calvino Rabeni: I've been thinking about rate and rhythm lately, looking to tune things up
stevenaia Michinaga: will be a week of interesting events, new people, intereactions, nice to prepare, critical events that will paint the future weeks events
Calvino Rabeni: ah ... a special preparation for special times?
stevenaia Michinaga: more of a need for an outlook
    Lawrence Vyceratops: chicken wang thangs
stevenaia Michinaga: unfortunately, in my relationship the question results in an answer that becomes a topic of disagreement
Lawrence Vyceratops: disagreement for sure! my wife always wants something different. haha
    stevenaia Michinaga: Cal
Lawrence Vyceratops: well, we decided on pizza..... haha have a good night, guys!
stevenaia Michinaga: yes Lawrence, makes your answer futle but necessare to begine the discussion
    Calvino Rabeni: Pizza it is
    Lawrence Vyceratops: haha yes
Calvino Rabeni: I'm being influenced :)
Calvino Rabeni: Outlook, like, how one goes toward it?
stevenaia Michinaga: cal, since I did not know, I consulted the I Ching... resulting in the perfect answer.... Stillness :)
Calvino Rabeni: Ah .. you mean the Mountain, #52?
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, yes
stevenaia Michinaga: reading was like the song, The Gambler
    Calvino Rabeni: take care, Lawrence
Lawrence Vyceratops: stillness... a good topic. but i must go :(
stevenaia Michinaga: nice to have met you
Lawrence Vyceratops: Stevenaia, we met over a year ago :) been gone from sl for a while. see ya 'round again soon, i'm sure.
Calvino Rabeni: It has been a while
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye for now
stevenaia Michinaga: he has a good memory
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esAr0qGu2S4
    Calvino Rabeni: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/k/kenny+rogers/the+gambler_20077886.html
stevenaia Michinaga: a good thing to read the situation

    On a warm summer's eve
On a train bound for nowhere
I met up with the gambler
We were both too tired to sleep
    So we took turns a-starin'
Out the window at the darkness
The boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, "Son, I've made my life
    Out of readin' people's faces
    Knowin' what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes
So if you don't mind my sayin'
I can see you're out of aces
For a taste of your whiskey
    I'll give you some advice"

Calvino Rabeni: Every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
stevenaia Michinaga: always comforted with this kind of thoughtful beginning
stevenaia Michinaga: a nice first step into any situation
    Calvino Rabeni: nods
Calvino Rabeni: Imagine a whole culture imbued with process wisdom... fascinating
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Luci
Lucinda Lavender: hi am showing my friends 2L
Calvino Rabeni: Hello Friends of Lucinda !
Calvino Rabeni: Like to have a seat?
stevenaia Michinaga: I suspect it realated to those at the top, but the thought is a good one
    --BELL--

Lucinda Lavender: nice to see you ...good evening all...
stevenaia Michinaga: A lovely dream related metphor appeared in my inspiration quote of the day today, relates to your thought too, Cal:
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye Cinda
stevenaia Michinaga: Vision without action is daydream. Action without vision is nightmare.
    Calvino Rabeni listens
stevenaia Michinaga: I suppose action with vision is a good start
Calvino Rabeni: Action and vision are like a jelly roll:
Calvino Rabeni: two thin layers close together, then rolled and folded up into something much bigger
    Calvino Rabeni: a fractal process
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: they co-exist nicely together
stevenaia Michinaga: who doesn't like a jellyroll
Calvino Rabeni: some interesting instructions on this in tai chi?
stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm, yes, very apropropriate
stevenaia Michinaga: that was also part of my evening :)
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I have to end the evening
    stevenaia Michinaga: thanks Cal
    stevenaia Michinaga: night
Calvino Rabeni: Good to see you Stevenaia
    Calvino Rabeni: Good night :)
    Calvino Rabeni:

You got to know when to hold 'em
    know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away and when to run.
    You never count your money
when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin'
    when the dealin's done.
