The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza, joined by Storm, Lawrence, and Tess, for a beautiful session...

    Lawrence Vyceratops: hi
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Lawrence :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Storm :)
    Storm Nordwind: Hi there :)
    Lawrence Vyceratops: hi, Storm
Eliza Madrigal: Happy Valentines Day/Night, etc
Storm Nordwind: And you too! :)

Eliza Madrigal: :) beautiful happiness project Storm... the dome is filling up so wonderfully...
Storm Nordwind: There are 11 exhibits already. And I keep getting ideas for more of my own too!

Eliza Madrigal: in fact it looks like a snow globe at rest, with rose petals all about :)
    Eliza Madrigal: (the dome)
Storm Nordwind: Ah yes! I like that. I'm glad someone inspired me to do that. :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: yes I'm glad too ... must have made the person feel very cared for
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Storm Nordwind smiles too

Storm Nordwind: I'm sure we will use the upper floor too in the Dome this time.
Eliza Madrigal: it seems that way!
Eliza Madrigal: I considered a different project but this one came together from a number of angles at once and I pay attention to those kinds of things :)
Storm Nordwind: There is no standing in the way of creativity!
Storm Nordwind: And you can always do a second one. :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :) true

    Presence or absence...

Storm Nordwind: Happiness must be something everyone can relate to, by its presence or even its absence - hence the response.
Eliza Madrigal: yes! presence or absence... that's very much what I've noticed in listening to the many conversations
    Storm Nordwind nods
Eliza Madrigal: it is so simple as to be startling
Eliza Madrigal: and many of us have wanted to point to something else rather than staying with happiness

Storm Nordwind: Interesting. Can you give me an example of that?
Eliza Madrigal: Well, so if Bleu asks "Are you happy?" in a session... someone will say 'content', or Wester and I went to joy as more enduring...
    Storm Nordwind: Wow. I see
    Eliza Madrigal: rather interesting
    Storm Nordwind: Yes indeed
Storm Nordwind: Do you think that people see happiness as a spectrum, a sliding scale, or that different people use different words for the same thing? Or something else, maybe?
Eliza Madrigal: I think that happiness has been packaged as an idea... and that it therefore can bring feelings of discouragement ... something not lived up to...
    Eliza Madrigal: an ideal
    Storm Nordwind: Ah, I see.
    Eliza Madrigal: but...
Eliza Madrigal: there are contexts in which I think what it means is pretty simple...
Eliza Madrigal: like when many use the blessing "may all beings be happy"
Eliza Madrigal: or it is said that bodhisattvas exhibit "happily dwelling conduct"
Storm Nordwind: I can certainly understand why some people are not only discouraged but become cycnical, or (at best) think they just have to make do.
Storm Nordwind: But I also understand your point about simplicity
Eliza Madrigal: yes, people generally do their best at any given time

    Truth, Awareness, Bliss...

Storm Nordwind: I recall there is an Indian idea - Sat Chit Anand - three attributes of what could be described by some as nonduality. Translated roughly as "Truth. Awareness, Bliss"
Eliza Madrigal: wow... on my walk tonight I said that aloud...
Storm Nordwind: In Indian or English?
    Eliza Madrigal: sat chit ananda
    Storm Nordwind smiles broadly
Eliza Madrigal: I wondered at myself because I didn't really think to do it
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eliza Madrigal: What do you mean by "happiness" Storm? What do you think of right away?
Storm Nordwind: I think of Being, of being Being. Of that bliss. Of being one with that. Of never having to go away from it anymore, like a tiny drop of rain having merged in a great sea - inseparable.
    Eliza Madrigal: beautiful, yes
Eliza Madrigal: not pointing to any event or external, wonderful though those may be
Storm Nordwind: Indeed. Without cause. And also without barrier.

Storm Nordwind: I am convinced of one thing ... and I understand I'm rather swimming against the tide of opinion here! ... that the experience of that happiness is something that can grow in anyone, eventually, over time , no matter what their circumstance... although, almost as a side-effect - not strived for directly.
Eliza Madrigal: tiny drop, heart essence... slowly taking over? :)

Storm Nordwind: Yes. When one loses oneself in compassion for all, happiness sneaks up and takes you by surprise. It's almost hard to explain how it got there, but there it is! :))
Eliza Madrigal: such as it is :) You know you do exude that Storm :)
    Storm Nordwind smiles widely

Eliza Madrigal: ah, you know I realize why I think happiness was complicated for me... or the are you happy question....
    Storm Nordwind listens
Eliza Madrigal: it is because one tries to imagine what the other means by that..
    Storm Nordwind: Ha!
Eliza Madrigal: and then to answer that...
Eliza Madrigal: which may be very convoluted... surely steps removed
Eliza Madrigal: from that 'first thing that comes to mind'

Storm Nordwind: Overthinking being; overthinking happiness.
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Storm Nordwind: Which reminds me of a web cartoon today...
    Storm Nordwind searches for it
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    Storm Nordwind: http://xkcd.com/1016/

    Eliza Madrigal clicks
    Eliza Madrigal: hahahaha
Eliza Madrigal: that is fantastic :))
    Lawrence Vyceratops: that's funny
Storm Nordwind: Who can read that and not say "Been there, done that!"?
    Eliza Madrigal: absolutely

Eliza Madrigal: that's why I wrote my valentine to pab earlier in the week, hah... no pressure of the day
Storm Nordwind is very grateful you did
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: you know it really is an amazing thing to me...
Eliza Madrigal: a tiny curiosity opens into something more than I could describe in words... such precious friendships...
Eliza Madrigal: such spilling over into all of life

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Tess :)
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Tess!
    Tess Aristocrat: Hello <3
Eliza Madrigal: Happy Valentines Day again :))
Tess Aristocrat: Same to you both
    Tess Aristocrat: Oh! and Lawrence!

Eliza Madrigal: we've been talking about happiness... the dome is filling up with art work
Tess Aristocrat: I didn't see you there at first :)
    Tess Aristocrat: oh?
    Lawrence Vyceratops: hi Tess
Tess Aristocrat: I'll have to go see :)
    Lawrence Vyceratops: what dome?
Storm Nordwind: there is an Art Exhibition Dome a short way from here
Tess Aristocrat: Eliza, is there a Lm to the Dome?
Storm Nordwind: We built it a couple of years ago
Eliza Madrigal: you know, I normally use the map...
Tess Aristocrat: I tend to get turned around here.. lol
Storm Nordwind: Walk directly north for a hundred metres or so and you will see it on your right

Storm Nordwind: Let me see... it's also on the Kira web site
Tess Aristocrat: *whistles like a bird :>
Storm Nordwind: http://www.kira.org/index.php?option...181&Itemid=208 at the lower half of the page
Eliza Madrigal: nice to take a tour... see the various guardian spots ... and the pub, where the group's cat needs lots of petting
Storm Nordwind: Plus a link to an explanation of what the Art as Being exhibitions are about.
    Eliza Madrigal: thank you Storm
Tess Aristocrat: Do we have a balloon tour here?
Eliza Madrigal: ah, and have to see the molecule theater as well
Storm Nordwind: The balloon goes over the dome - if you take the two seater, not the 12 seater balloon
    Tess Aristocrat: ok
Storm Nordwind: The 12 seater goes to the Theater

    Even myself...

Eliza Madrigal: What comes to mind when you think of happiness, Tess?
Tess Aristocrat: being content..with what I have :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: lovely
Tess Aristocrat: in all respects...not just material things
Tess Aristocrat: I live out in the country, and I love nature
    Eliza Madrigal: nurturing?
    Lawrence Vyceratops: gotta go
Eliza Madrigal: okay Lawrence, be well :)
    Storm Nordwind waves
Tess Aristocrat: the 'rebirth' of Spring
    Lawrence Vyceratops: bye
Tess Aristocrat: Lawrence and his little family :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: noticing what is all around
    Tess Aristocrat: yes
    Tess Aristocrat: loving even myself
    Eliza Madrigal: "even myself" :)
Tess Aristocrat: with all my faults
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Tess Aristocrat: Loving ones self can be as easy as learning to laugh at your own shortcomings
Eliza Madrigal: ah, humor is something that hasn't come up much in our discussions of happiness... maybe seen as a given, but yes... wow
Storm Nordwind: There's a lovely phrase that may fit here: "Not taking oneself too seriously"
Tess Aristocrat: and yet, it is so important..humor
    Eliza Madrigal: yes :))
    Tess Aristocrat: yes!
Eliza Madrigal: or as Eden might say, traveling light of heart

Tess Aristocrat: Ever notice that even on a long day of a funeral, at one point or another, a group of people will find themselves laughing at something or other..
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Tess Aristocrat: We need that..to balance
Tess Aristocrat: and to bring comfort
Storm Nordwind: That reminds me of the famous quote from George Bernard Shaw
Storm Nordwind: "Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh."
    Tess Aristocrat: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: wise fellow :)

Eliza Madrigal: tonight I was walking rather briskly... was a bit chilly and I didn't bring a sweater... came across a tiny white cat just sitting beneath a tree... it was like the whole world slowed down... the cat modeled a kind of happiness
    Tess Aristocrat: awww :)
    Storm Nordwind smiles

    Make someone happy...

Tess Aristocrat: In the town where I live, there was an old man who died. His sons came from out of town and collected some of his things, put his affairs in order and then left. There is a small black and white Border Collie there at the house.
    Storm Nordwind: Oh!
Eliza Madrigal: aw... who cares for the Border Collie? amazing dogs
    Eliza Madrigal: so dutiful
Tess Aristocrat: So, I have been going by every day and feeding him.
    Eliza Madrigal: :) ((((Tess))))
    Storm Nordwind smiles
Tess Aristocrat: He is very shy, runs off to the back, but has been coming closer
Storm Nordwind: One day, the house will be sold, and he will need a new home
Eliza Madrigal: maybe he and the man lived a cloistered life together so he isn't used to others... or possibly confused...
Tess Aristocrat: Eventually I will catch him and rehab him into a new home
Tess Aristocrat: I am currently looking around for a new family
Eliza Madrigal: perhaps since you live in the country someone will have space
    Tess Aristocrat: nods..

Tess Aristocrat: I already have four dogs and four cats or I'd take him..hahaha
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
    Eliza Madrigal: !!
Eliza Madrigal smiles imagining Tess's house
    Tess Aristocrat: lolll
Tess Aristocrat: people love to drive out to the country and drop off their unwanted pets
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Storm Nordwind wonders whether the cats - who are after all in charge - allow Tess a token place to lay her head. :)
Tess Aristocrat: so I've gotten a couple of 'walk-ups'
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Tess Aristocrat: Oh,, they are all one big happy family
Tess Aristocrat: The cats will sleep right out in the front, unafraid, because they know the dogs guard the place
Tess Aristocrat: they all get along well
Eliza Madrigal: sign that they all feel satisfied perhaps
    Tess Aristocrat: nods
    Eliza Madrigal: needs met

Eliza Madrigal sings :::make someone happy, make just one someone happy, then you will be happy too::::
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Tess Aristocrat: yea!
Tess Aristocrat: that makes me happy :)
Eliza Madrigal: me too, I'm smiling so widely
Eliza Madrigal: feel very thankful, couldn't have asked for a more pleasant way to celebrate both Valentines and PaB anniversary :)
    Tess Aristocrat: oh!
Tess Aristocrat: It's the Anniversary too?
    Eliza Madrigal: well, for me...
Eliza Madrigal: 3 years ago at this session I hopped onto a balloon at zen retreat...
Eliza Madrigal: and landed here :)
    Tess Aristocrat: hehehe
Tess Aristocrat: I came here one day when Rhiannon invited me :)
Eliza Madrigal: So it is wonderful to spend the anniversary with the balloon maker too :)
Eliza Madrigal: ah, nice that she does that

Storm Nordwind digs out a line from another "song"... "And you know what... when you're happy, I'm happy. That's the formula. First you. Then me. That's all happiness is. It's just the heart being free."

    Tess Aristocrat: nods
Eliza Madrigal: so glad you came
    Tess Aristocrat: me too :)
Eliza Madrigal: what is that from Storm?
Storm Nordwind: Mipham - "What about me?"
Eliza Madrigal: oooh yes! Of course
Tess Aristocrat: gotta go! my laundry is calling me :P
    Eliza Madrigal: **wonderful**

Storm Nordwind: You know, my fave video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDSAAlrqAHM

Tess Aristocrat: have a good evening :)
Storm Nordwind: And I should go too :)
Eliza Madrigal: Night Tess and Storm
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks you both so much <3
Eliza Madrigal: I should trundle off now too, as Paradise likes to say
Storm Nordwind: Thank you for a lovely session
    Eliza Madrigal: indeed special

    Eliza Madrigal: Namaste'
    Eliza Madrigal: Eliza <3 PaB
