The Guardian for this meeting was Xirana Oximoxi joined by Boxy, Steve, Raffila and San.

Raffila has make it easy for me to write a summary of the session... In her words:  we have "had good talk on Dao teachings and actions... talking Barcelona: weather report from the pink ribbon, famous chef Adria and bad air quality...boxy a great creator, Japanese gestures and talent of builders, strange food concocted by this famous chef and now poor air." ... plus ... analogies and deconstructing food or a poem.

Alfred Kelberry: are you the goc for this session?
    stevenaia Michinaga: no
    stevenaia Michinaga: sorry was afk
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I have to leave at the 1/2 hour
    Alfred Kelberry: ok
stevenaia Michinaga: I have a local (RL) taoist study group
stevenaia Michinaga: we read and eat and talk, very nice time
stevenaia Michinaga: I pick up the vegan desserts from a local bakery
Alfred Kelberry: are there non-vegan desserts?
    stevenaia Michinaga: appearently
stevenaia Michinaga: everyone loves a t-bone in their cupcake
    stevenaia Michinaga: these are without
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: meat pie isn't a dessert :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: (I guess)
stevenaia Michinaga: I think it has to do with lack of yeast (an animal)
    Alfred Kelberry: "sect" :)
    Alfred Kelberry: hi, raff
stevenaia Michinaga: we end to just read through the Dao deChing, one chapter a month
Raffila Millgrove: hello boxy. Hello Stevenaia
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Raff
Alfred Kelberry: dao ching? like i ching, but for taoists?
    stevenaia Michinaga: ot Tao TeChing
    stevenaia Michinaga: it;s all related
    stevenaia Michinaga: *or
stevenaia Michinaga: all very comprehensive, all part of the same thing
stevenaia Michinaga: dificult to talk about only one aspect w/o including the others
stevenaia Michinaga: knew nothing of this before PaB
    Alfred Kelberry: xira cruz :)

stevenaia Michinaga: seems everyhting has has the right time and right place

Xirana Oximoxi: hi boxy!!! I am late :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Airana, gtsy
    stevenaia Michinaga: X
    stevenaia Michinaga: ooops
Xirana Oximoxi: :) hi steve and Raffila
    Raffila Millgrove: hello Xirana

stevenaia Michinaga: it's just a matter of having the patience to wait for it

    Alfred Kelberry: xiri the boss!
    Xirana Oximoxi: hihi
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

Alfred Kelberry: stev, sometimes you have to act

Xirana Oximoxi: Raffila, have you been here before and know about the chat beeing published?
    Raffila Millgrove: yes
Xirana Oximoxi: ok, nice to meet you..I thinkl we have not before:)
Raffila Millgrove: nice to meet you, too
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, but sometimes the act is to be patient

    Xirana Oximoxi listens
stevenaia Michinaga: the trick is to know what is the appropriate action
stevenaia Michinaga: standing is front of the freight train to stop it, for instance, might be the wrong action, depending on your intended result
    stevenaia Michinaga: (death)
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: but eventually the reack will wear down and the train will fall off the track :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: *track
    Alfred Kelberry: er...
    stevenaia Michinaga: an extreme example
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
Alfred Kelberry: yes, a bit :)

Raffila Millgrove: sometimes no action--is the best "action".. not responding. i have been amazed.. how many things do not ever need attention. best to let them quietly die away.
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, worth observing
Alfred Kelberry: yes, it works well with griefers :)
stevenaia Michinaga: so much effort can be expended holding back something to no avail
stevenaia Michinaga: other times, one act can bring down a country
    stevenaia Michinaga: or one tweet
Raffila Millgrove: i learned this later in life--watching a leadership style i had not seen before. A president of BOD.. she would say_oh gosh_ to a reported problem.. and then do nothing about it--i thought at first--wow she's going to let the molehills become mountains. Turn out many .. just blew away. anew idea to me.
    stevenaia Michinaga: BOD?
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    --BELL--
Raffila Millgrove: board of directors. i was on the board .. i watched her leadership style.. a new one to me. I learned from her.
    stevenaia Michinaga: aww, yes

Alfred Kelberry: raff, can you give an example of a problem that just went away?
Raffila Millgrove: trick in that.. "no action" is.. knowng which things do need attention--which don't.
stevenaia Michinaga: Board dynamics can be very interesting
Xirana Oximoxi: well ... now I'm a little lost with the 'ribon'...how does it work? ... but better we hear Raffila:)

Raffila Millgrove: perceived problem. vs.. hole in roof. one does need attention.. other one might not.

    Alfred Kelberry: xiri?
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes? :)
Alfred Kelberry: what do you mean how does it work?
Xirana Oximoxi: I mean...why steve has gone to seat there?..for exemple
Alfred Kelberry: cause she wanted to? :)
Xirana Oximoxi: haha ok :) me too !! :)
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: because I am easilly entertained by Boxy's creativity
Alfred Kelberry: it's not working in any special way - it just spins :)
Xirana Oximoxi: wonderful... and plus he has personalised it:)...
Alfred Kelberry: stev, to be fair - rotation was your idea :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I had thought of a subject for today... maybe it's what you were talking about.... anonymity in virtual worlds :)
Alfred Kelberry: and without the "wearing red" session there wouldn't be any ribbon :)

Raffila Millgrove: when i arrived Stev and boxy were talking about taking action.
    Raffila Millgrove: or waiting.
Alfred Kelberry: yes, it's from tao teaching
Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh thanks Raffila :)
Alfred Kelberry: stev is a specialist :)
stevenaia Michinaga: If fact it's time for me to go to my RL Tao's group meeting
    stevenaia Michinaga: no, a beginer
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Raffila Millgrove: wow you have one where you live? how cool.
Alfred Kelberry: then who am i? a new born? :)
Xirana Oximoxi: what a question!! "Who am I " :))
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, my Tai Chi teacher ahs many classes in the area and some of her studants set up this group for those interested
Alfred Kelberry: xiri, this is a tough one :)
Raffila Millgrove: wonderful. i was in a group in SL fora while where they were teaching. loved it.
stevenaia Michinaga: much to learn from that approach
    Alfred Kelberry: haha
Alfred Kelberry: what a great match :)
stevenaia Michinaga: nice meeting you (again) Raffila
Raffila Millgrove: you too. bye now.
Alfred Kelberry: for the log: this is a quote from the log that appeared: "Pema Pera: yes, Steve, whenever one of us gets a glimpse and tries to share, we all learn http://bit.ly/y6KPxh"
stevenaia Michinaga: quite the memory, Boxy
Alfred Kelberry: it's not me - the ribbon :)
Raffila Millgrove: the ribbon--it remembers the chat logs? boxy??
Xirana Oximoxi: and the ribbon can connect somehow with the persons that are here now?...steve... and before was talking about the weather forecast of Catalonia :)
Alfred Kelberry: it picks quotes from it
Raffila Millgrove: how? does it match up key words? or random?
Alfred Kelberry: either randomly or by word
    Raffila Millgrove: fascinating.
    --BELL--
    Xirana Oximoxi: Barcelona, Catalonia: 55 F / 13 C, Clear, Humidity: 63%, Wind: SW at 15 mph / 24 kph
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye all,
Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye steve!! have a nice day! :)
Raffila Millgrove: why did it give us the Barcelona weather report?
Xirana Oximoxi: you're a magicien with technology boxy :)
Alfred Kelberry: cause i asked for it :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I am from Barcelona :)
Raffila Millgrove: ah. wow. that's really amazing.
    Alfred Kelberry: ;)
    Xirana Oximoxi: ahhhh :))
Raffila Millgrove: oh.. Beautiful city, whatever the weather.
Alfred Kelberry: yes, and beautiful xiri :)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... nice city... thanks nice boxy! :)
Alfred Kelberry: anyone can do it, raff
Xirana Oximoxi: to touch boxy's nose:)
Alfred Kelberry: for instance, to find weather in berlin, type: /12 weather berlin
Raffila Millgrove: oh i remember people were commanding onigokko. i didn't understand what was happening.
Alfred Kelberry: yes, it's an old tradition - crazy dance
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes... quite crazy!!
Alfred Kelberry: i don't remember the source of the word. probably japan-related.
Raffila Millgrove: someone gave me a gesture of it. you say it and all were suddenly dancign it.
    Alfred Kelberry: yep
    Alfred Kelberry: onigokko
Xirana Oximoxi: yes.... with iniggoko we have no control of our avis:))
    Alfred Kelberry: stop
Raffila Millgrove: yeah. i got an orb. same idea. you use word.. suddenly everyone around you wearing is doing the gesture. Japanese.
    Xirana Oximoxi: wow...so fast
Raffila Millgrove: same thing. many choices. i love to play with it.
Raffila Millgrove: a stranger in Japan.. gave to me.
Raffila Millgrove: i visit Japan SL a lot..
    Xirana Oximoxi: onigokko
    Xirana Oximoxi: stop
Alfred Kelberry: they're quite skillful in sl building
    Alfred Kelberry: xiri :)
Xirana Oximoxi: ohhh I am wearing it and nothing happened
Raffila Millgrove: i am big admirer of many Japanese creators.
Xirana Oximoxi: japanese restaurant are now very appreciated here.... in Barcelona, there are a very good ones
Xirana Oximoxi: healthy food...they cook the food in front of you
Raffila Millgrove: oh you have most famous "modern" restaurant in world there don't you. Name escapes me.
Raffila Millgrove: Aria. chefs name. close to that.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... it has been like a mode to learn to cook..and then a lot of restaurants opened with good chefs...but now the business is not going very well
Raffila Millgrove: eh. my daughter lives there: Tokyo!
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: Ferran Adrià
    Raffila Millgrove: yes!
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Raffila Millgrove: some called him best chef in the world.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... he has had a school too
Xirana Oximoxi: well...that's a choice and big promotion
Alfred Kelberry: last time i heard jamie oliver was the best one :)
Raffila Millgrove: not for me. had to finally admit. i know how i like food. i like to taste it. simply.
Xirana Oximoxi: 3 or 4 years ago he has also won the Berlin biennale price of Arts:)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi San!!!
    Alfred Kelberry: san!
Raffila Millgrove: hello San. nice to meet you.
Santoshima Resident: hi Xirana, Alfred, Raffila, and anyone else there!
Santoshima Resident: nice to meet you, too ~
Alfred Kelberry: we await report from your travel, san :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I like the simple and traditional cooking...but I also like to try some creative meals... :)
Santoshima Resident: oh, Alfred, it is just like being at home
    Alfred Kelberry: that's nice
Santoshima Resident: except more fresh lime soda
Xirana Oximoxi: and it was possible with non famous chefs...not with Adrià.. his restaurant was very very expensive
Alfred Kelberry: but, the leaded air that you mentioned isn't nice
Santoshima Resident: it's a problem for the people who live here
    Xirana Oximoxi: ahh yes... San,
Alfred Kelberry: is there a factory nearby?
    --BELL--
Santoshima Resident: are you talking "food"?
Raffila Millgrove: talking Barcelona: weather report from the pink ribbon, famous chef Adria and bad air quality.
    Santoshima Resident: ok
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... a diversity of subjects
Raffila Millgrove: boxy a great creator, Japanese gestures and talent of builders, strange food concocted by this famous chef and now poor air.
    Alfred Kelberry: nice summary :)
Xirana Oximoxi: :) ..I have the summary for the log now :)
Raffila Millgrove: hehe. cannot forget that steve and boxy had good talk on Dao teachings and actions..
Alfred Kelberry: oops, we lost san
Xirana Oximoxi: ok... I've missed part of it ...but I will read later
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes... crashed

Raffila Millgrove: pardon the terrible pun.. but there was a 'train" analogy that serious went off the track.
Raffila Millgrove: these analogies are treacherous.. i don't care much for them. the "Match".. it's often too far-fetched.. just imho.
Raffila Millgrove: when i read PAB chat logs. that is one thing i notice--a fondness for analogies.
Xirana Oximoxi: what do you mean..'analogies'...which kind of analogies?
Raffila Millgrove: oh instead of giving a real life example on an action. (i gave one "hole in the roof".. something that usually requires action, instead we had there was a match up to speeding trains. which wasn't anyone's personal experience.. and none of us stand in front of trains.
Xirana Oximoxi: you mean that we don't usually talk and use exemples of our personal experience?... maybe for the log published...
Raffila Millgrove: no. i wasn't clear.
    Xirana Oximoxi: ok :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello Zon! :)
Raffila Millgrove: but in a way.. yes. instead of concrete example of.. If you have hold in roof. probably does need immediate attention.
    Zon Kwan: hi
    Raffila Millgrove: that was "hole"
    Raffila Millgrove: hello Zon.
Zon Kwan: sry must go, see you later
    Raffila Millgrove: bye Zon.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... and a 'hole' in roof needs quick attention in a place whjere rains oft
    Xirana Oximoxi: see you!! bye
Raffila Millgrove: totally. there is tendency to speak in abstract or say.. analogy--it's "like" this.. instead of "here's a hole".
Raffila Millgrove: here's a hole to me.. is more precise about the IS.. than the "like".. of some imaginary train speeding.
Raffila Millgrove: i guess i am speaking of language. i like it simple and precise.
Xirana Oximoxi: sometimes methaphores also help to understand what we want to mean
Raffila Millgrove: just like my food--like to taste it and keep it simple so i know/can enjoy what i am putting in the mouth.
Raffila Millgrove: I can admire a plate of Japanese food which is so rich in artistic endeavor and has many levels of meaning in it. i can appreicate it on a creative/artistic level.. but it's still food and chances are I won't love eating it.
    --BELL--
Raffila Millgrove: Adria deconstructs food-examines essence. it's interesting, it's artistic and fascinating. but it becomes for me. less about eating Food and more about admiring his mind.
Xirana Oximoxi: it can be compared to reading an article in a newspaper... or reading a poem... maybe :)
Xirana Oximoxi: I agree in your appreciation of Adria food... he has been experiencing with all kind of products...
Raffila Millgrove: no i don't want to compare. that's my point. I learn about myself: that i want to eat the food and taste it.. and revel in eating food. not attaching many levels of meaning to it. same with poems. by the time i got thru my first semester of college--i change my major.. i am so sick of having poems/pieces of literature i loved... deconstructed for me. I couldn't put the back together again. they were damaged.
Xirana Oximoxi: in my dayly life I don't like to 'eat' strange mixtures
Raffila Millgrove: to learn, to enjoy .. yes. sometimes.. it's fascinating. but .. for most days. i want to enjoy the simplicity. of things i love to taste.
Xirana Oximoxi: I've been trying to understand Derrida's theories about deconstruction...and no way:)
Raffila Millgrove: i can understand. but i don't want to live that way.
    Raffila Millgrove: you know?
    Xirana Oximoxi: I understand perfectly
Raffila Millgrove: i had to learn, eat. huge variety.. as a food writer. it was my business to be knowledgeable. but i finally admit. i love a plain boiled potato. a plain carrot with butter and salt pepper and accept that is who i am.
Xirana Oximoxi: for me, 'deconstructing' a poem sometimes helps me to discover more meanings in it... and later enjoy it more
Raffila Millgrove: not me. i like the sound of the words.. but i acknowledge that somethings are denser--and you need to peel the layers to get that appreciation. so yes. perhaps you are correct in a way.. it fits into my idea--of sometimes. not regularly.
Raffila Millgrove: oh. well the time is up now. I enjoyed meeting you Xiri.
Xirana Oximoxi: me too Raffila :) nice to have talked to you!! :)
Raffila Millgrove: see you round. have a great evening!
Xirana Oximoxi: I will also go... have a nice day!! :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: evening!
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye boxy!!! see you soon!
Raffila Millgrove: early morning for us in California. very sunny warm day here.
    Raffila Millgrove: bye now.
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh then it's nice to go out and feel the sun
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye :)
