The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal, filling in for Xirama Oximoxi.

    Mellie McMinnar: Hello
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Mellie
Mellie McMinnar: will there be others coming?
Eliza Madrigal: nice to meet you.... I'm not sure actually
Mellie McMinnar: nice to meet you too
Mellie McMinnar: although I think that we met last weekend

Eliza Madrigal: The host for this session wasn't able to make it so I popped in... each time here is so different
Mellie McMinnar: don't understand why it even needs a host
Eliza Madrigal: Ah... yes perhaps. You are familiar to me but I thought it was due to my perusing chat logs for the group

Eliza Madrigal: Well, for a few reasons...
Eliza Madrigal: the group began as a bit more of an experiment format
Eliza Madrigal: and people liked to keep up with what others were doing across sessions
Eliza Madrigal: they couldn't be in
Eliza Madrigal: in order to do that and have visitors... record, I mean...
Eliza Madrigal: it was necessary to make sure to receive permission
Eliza Madrigal: but also... hosting is important in SL don't you think? in groups...
Eliza Madrigal: someone to answer questions, etc

Mellie McMinnar: well, in the ideal group everybody should be able to answer all questions... or point at someone to answer a particular question
Eliza Madrigal: sure :) ideals... actually most of the group is able and willing to answer things - yet also, with hosts, particular periods of time take on personalities of their own
    Mellie McMinnar: funny phenomena huh?
Eliza Madrigal: ::shrug::: mainly, it is the way it has evolved
    Eliza Madrigal: :) yes
Mellie McMinnar: I know a lot about physics... feel free to point at me if someone asks you something about physics ;) ... what is your profession?
Eliza Madrigal smiles, that's good to know... a resident physics person

Eliza Madrigal: I've done a milliion things, but most of my life spent mommying
Eliza Madrigal: well, half of it but for quality of time and attention I can say it is most
Mellie McMinnar: that is a big profession too!... I bet you have some great advice for first time mothers
Eliza Madrigal: what is your branch of physics?
Eliza Madrigal: not really... each person's experience is so unique

Mellie McMinnar: well, I studied semiconductors, but I am more into astrophysics and quantumphysics
Mellie McMinnar: don't ask me about any formulas though ^^
Eliza Madrigal: hah, you will not get those questions from me

Eliza Madrigal: are you also interested in physics as part of philosophy?
    Mellie McMinnar: absolutely

Eliza Madrigal: this morning I was out for breakfast, and the man next to me said "Well, the problem is that if I embrace causality then what to do with all the chaos..."
Eliza Madrigal: I have no idea of the rest of the conversation, as it mingled then with others... but I've take it as my thought for the day :)
Mellie McMinnar: that is great :)

Eliza Madrigal: so if I were to ask you anything I think I'd ask your thoughts on causality and linear time...
Eliza Madrigal: first that pop up :)
Mellie McMinnar: well, time isn't linear
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: subjective experientially...

Eliza Madrigal: how do you work with that reality where our maps/communications seem confined to linearity - I mean, do you think it is possible to live from a place tha asserts linear time as illusory?

Mellie McMinnar: well, you see.... most people think that there is a three dimensional room and then there is time..... but time isn't a separate thing... it is all one "knawel" ;) that is why astrophysicists always talk about spacetime and not "space and time"

Eliza Madrigal: "knawel" is a new term for me
Mellie McMinnar: for me too... I googled it ^^
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: well in day to day life I can say that to organize a day by linear time makes no sense... it is really by attention drawn in a way....
Eliza Madrigal: yet this is the packaging we've got to work with due to a need to measure?
Eliza Madrigal: so sense of space/position would be part of that function and how time was read or felt...

Eliza Madrigal: what is your big question?

Mellie McMinnar: mine?.... hmmmm.... why shouldn't be the universe be infinite?
    Mellie McMinnar: (minus one "be")
Eliza Madrigal: :) why shouldn't be the universe then...
    Eliza Madrigal: (kidding) :)

Eliza Madrigal: it is an open question isn't it.... do most assert it cannot be?
Mellie McMinnar: well, everything that we can see is 14 billion light years away, because the universe we know is 14 billion years old.... but who is to say that there isn't anything else out there? further away?
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: view within also seems infinite...
Mellie McMinnar: ask me something else... I like that :) .. but use "easy" english please
    Eliza Madrigal smiles

Mellie McMinnar: there we go ^^
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eliza Madrigal: another thing I'm interested in is... what do you think the implications are for higgs-boson being 'proven'?
Mellie McMinnar: well, it just proves that the quantum-model, we believed a long time in, is right
Eliza Madrigal: does it bring field theory philosophically to the forefront? morphic resonance a bit more into mainstream physics?
Mellie McMinnar: no... it just proved that we were right... nothing more
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    Mellie McMinnar: hello Eherim
Eliza Madrigal: Hello Eherim :) welcome
Eherim Infinity: Hello. Seems you are having a nice conversation.
Eliza Madrigal: Mellie was sharing with me that a big question concerns whether the universe can be infinite...
Eliza Madrigal: and this bubbled up a few more questions
    Eherim Infinity: Sounds good.

Mellie McMinnar: answer: it could be, and no physicist knows the answer ^^
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eherim Infinity: Emanuel Kant had some points to that thing about infinite universe, I guess. I'll see if I can find it.
Eliza Madrigal: I'm always interested in connecting large and small - or connecting points, so that's why I wondered about fields and morphic resonance

Eliza Madrigal: Eherim have you been to play as being before, and are aware that we post recordings of sessions publicly?
Mellie McMinnar: Kant wrote crazy little letters to his friends and he died in a asylum
Eliza Madrigal: fidget with interesting questions long enough and they do feel to fray the edges...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eherim Infinity: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kant's_antinomies
Mellie McMinnar: "god is dead" is the biggest thing he wrote, because it was controversial... and then he wrote it over and over again... and then he went mental
Eherim Infinity: There he uses the question as a mean to critizise common sense.
Eliza Madrigal: These antinomies are four: two "mathematical" and two "dynamical". They are connected with (1) the limitation of the universe in respect of space and time, (2) the theory that the whole consists of indivisible atoms (whereas, in fact, none such exist), (3) the problem of free will in relation to universal causality, and (4) the existence of a necessary being.[1]
Eliza Madrigal: (quote from the page)
Eherim Infinity: I think you are thinking of Nietzsche.

Eliza Madrigal: Eherim did you catch my question about being included in the recording of these sessions?
    Eherim Infinity: Ehm, it's ok.
    Eherim Infinity: I didn't catch it. :-)
Eliza Madrigal: your name is familiar but lately I am in so many places in SL I can't quite tell whether I met someone here or elsewhere :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Thank you ^^

Mellie McMinnar: you know, I think that a good philosopher has the ability to put a complex matter into easy words everbody can understand.... Kant an Nietzsche did the exact opposite

Eherim Infinity: I have been here a few times, but it has been a while since last time I was here.
Eliza Madrigal: ah, okay, that makes sense
Eliza Madrigal: what is your "big question" about life, the universe, and everything, Ehermin?
    Eliza Madrigal: *Eherim
Mellie McMinnar: yes, tell us :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eherim Infinity: Well, Kant showed us that with his antinomies, that the world that seems to surround us is a fraud. I'd like to know what is not.
Eliza Madrigal: what is not a fraud?
    Eherim Infinity: Yes.
Mellie McMinnar: hey, there is a coaster thingy over there
Eliza Madrigal: it IS a big question... the facade would be covering 'what'...

Eliza Madrigal: :) It is a "nondual railroad" Mellie
    Mellie McMinnar: cool :)
Eliza Madrigal: if you jump on, it takes you to a few stops in the village... one to the Sacred Arts Museum, and another to the Art of Being dome
Eherim Infinity: I like nonduality. :-)

Mellie McMinnar: btw: does anybody really "drop" anything within this 90 seconds, or does everybody just wait to say their line?
Eliza Madrigal: where we have group projects on display - occasionally we work on art projects rather than talking about things
    Eliza Madrigal grins, haha....
Eliza Madrigal: well that is a big mystery too
Eliza Madrigal: at times I've been more disciplined about it personally
Eliza Madrigal: feel it has value
Mellie McMinnar: I know that you had your line prepared ;)
Eliza Madrigal: :) guilty as charged
Eliza Madrigal: it is one of those things that hm... in the 4 years I've been here, I am in waves with it

Mellie McMinnar: whatever... it is a nice ritual ^^

Eherim Infinity: :-) Either way it's a nice chance to stop and think of what has been said, so one not sorely focuses on what to say.

Mellie McMinnar: 4 years? noob! ^^
Eliza Madrigal: feel so too.... maybe it would be interesting to have an experimental session sometime... where we use the pauses to consider our deep questions then share in a flash
Eliza Madrigal: oh, now I have to see profiles....lol
    Eliza Madrigal: ::checks::::
Mellie McMinnar: how would we do that?
Eliza Madrigal: Eherim is the oldest and you and I very close Mellie:)
    Eherim Infinity: Haha.
Eliza Madrigal: well... basically we frame a question.. or conduct an experiment such as 'being seen' by something in the room...

Mellie McMinnar: I actually started in late 2006
Eliza Madrigal: or any number of ways of tinkering
    Eliza Madrigal: ohh :)
Mellie McMinnar: but I had to make some new accounts
    Eherim Infinity: Due to stalkers?
Eliza Madrigal: maybe why you keep the tennis racket... ^^
    Eliza Madrigal: >whap<
Mellie McMinnar: well, because I was kinda SL famous and yes, I had some stalkers.... but mostly because I just hate idiots.... this one is banned at some places too now
Eliza Madrigal: ah, so some adventures
Mellie McMinnar: oh yes... SL is a big adventure ;)

Eherim Infinity: What are you guys having for dinner tonight?
Eliza Madrigal: what sorts of forums were you most interested in, at the start?
Mellie McMinnar: do you know the Maggi brand?
    Eliza Madrigal: I don't
Mellie McMinnar: well, I had something of that... you put it into the microwave for 3 minutes and you have an awesome chili con carne
Eliza Madrigal: Eherim :) I've only just had breakfast... dinner is far away but I'd like brown rice perhaps - are you having something interesting?
    Eherim Infinity: Meatballs.
Eliza Madrigal: the most interesting thing I've eaten lately is... beet pasta - amazing
Eherim Infinity: They are a big hit in Denmark, where I live.
    Eliza Madrigal: ah :)
    Eherim Infinity: (Meatballs)
    Mellie McMinnar: Rübennudeln?

Eliza Madrigal: I have to get going now... but it was lovely to spend time with you both
Mellie McMinnar: sorry you have to go
Mellie McMinnar: are you going to sleep?
Eliza Madrigal: oh, not at all.. I have another meeting in SL
Eliza Madrigal: this one is for a research project though
Eliza Madrigal: anyway, hope we'll talk again :)
Mellie McMinnar: hehe, ok... have an awesome time :)
    Eliza Madrigal: bye for now
    Eliza Madrigal: you too!

Mellie McMinnar: sooooooo, let me guess.... you have to go too now
