There were 8 guardians present for this week's session: Bleu Oleander : Eliza Madrigal : Eos Amaterasu : Liza Deischer : Maxine Walden : Riddle Sideways : Zen Arado : arabella Ella.

We discussed the 6 month "Changing of the Guards' in the Working Group, and also the structure of the guardian meetings themselves.

    Riddle Sideways: good morning
    Eliza Madrigal: Good Morning :)
Riddle Sideways: oooo, will be right back
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Maxine, Eos, Liza :)
Maxine Walden: hi, Riddle, Eliza, eos
Eos Amaterasu: brb also - tea
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice idea
    Maxine Walden: me too, coffee
Liza Deischer: hi everyone (again :-))
    Liza Deischer: hi Maxine :-)
    Maxine Walden: hi, Liza
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
    Liza Deischer: hi Zen
    Riddle Sideways: back (with coffee)
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Zen
    Zen Arado: Hi all
    Maxine Walden: hi, Zen
Maxine Walden: coffee on the way here as well
Eliza Madrigal: It may be a small group this morning... Easter Sunday for many
Maxine Walden: yes, just thinking that as well, Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Morning Bleu :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi everyone!
    Zen Arado: Hi Bleu :)
    Maxine Walden: hi,Bleu
    Eos Amaterasu: Cheers Bleu
Riddle Sideways: I think Pema is in an airplane
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Bleu
Maxine Walden: think you are right Riddle
Eliza Madrigal: yes, on his way to your end of the country, Riddle :)
Eliza Madrigal: Storm, is beginning a weeks long retreat, too
    Maxine Walden: yes
    Liza Deischer: hi Bleu
Eliza Madrigal: But we can hopefully make good use of the session, to talk a little bit about the changes in the working group, and anything that others may wish to bring up

Liza asks a great 'stupid question'...

Liza Deischer: maybe a stupid question, but what and who is the working group?
Eliza Madrigal: What a good question
    Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
Riddle Sideways: and how did it change?
Eliza Madrigal: How funny to try to frame an answer....
Eliza Madrigal: Playasbeing, I guess started very simply, with a few people discussing the nature of reality....
Eliza Madrigal: then making that more 'regular'
Eliza Madrigal: and taking more notes, keeping track and developing community....
Eliza Madrigal: so there came lots of little jobs :)

    Oh, Eos... haha...

Eos Amaterasu: (regularity is a good feature for reality to have)
Eliza Madrigal: Pema was doing many of them
Eliza Madrigal: [that would be the way I'd frame the background]
Eliza Madrigal: and of course everyone else... but a sense that pema needed to keep up with all the details
Eliza Madrigal: So the working group started 6 months ago, as a way of distributing that....
Eliza Madrigal: not only the little jobs, but also more and more, the coordinating and keeping track of the jobs...
Eliza Madrigal: (I'm being very simple in my framing-is it okay?)
    Zen Arado: fine Eliza
    Bleu Oleander: sure
    Zen Arado: simple is good
    Maxine Walden: great, Eliza
Liza Deischer: yes, it is quite clear, thanks eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Thank you :)

Eliza Madrigal: So the original working group has been Pema, Maxine, Storm, Genesis, Eos, and me....
Liza Deischer: I imagined something like that, but it is good to have some background information on it
Eliza Madrigal: mainly due to specific contributions and the ability to give the time
Eliza Madrigal: especially in this first round, when it has been mostly about seeing what is actually done
Eliza Madrigal: but the intention has always been that it would change every 6 months...
Eliza Madrigal: So here we are at 6 months, with the roles better defined, and the idea of time commitment more sketched out
    Zen Arado: change what way?
Eliza Madrigal: Well, for one thing, Pema, Maxine, and Genesis, will step out of the actual 'working group' for now...
Eliza Madrigal: We've been able to figure out 6 rather clear roles...
Eliza Madrigal: and have talked to a few guardians who had already been functioning in those roles and would be able to add additional time for the WG meetings and such into that....
Eliza Madrigal: Let me find those descriptions, as I think that would be most helpful
    Zen Arado: job descriptions?
Maxine Walden: of a sort, Zen
Eos Amaterasu: For example, I'm "retreat coordinator" now, so put together 4 retreats per year
Eliza Madrigal: yes... I'll just give the titles for now : Session coordinator (Eliza), Inworld Coordinator (Storm), Retreat Coordinator (Eos), Chronicle Co..., Platform Co..., and Community Coordinator...
Eos Amaterasu: and work with local retreat coordinators on details
Eos Amaterasu: plus set up schedule for next 2 years
Eliza Madrigal: yes... a role which requires quite a bit of time and flexibility
Liza Deischer: what do the last two mean?
Eos Amaterasu: The platform coordinator is the techy role
Liza Deischer: ah, that platform :-)
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, Platform has to do with tech aspects and there is a lot of work going on with wiki revitalization :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Ara
    Maxine Walden: Hi, Ara
    Eos Amaterasu: hi Ara!
    Zen Arado: Hi Arabella :)
    Liza Deischer: hi Ara
    arabella Ella: Hiya!
    Riddle Sideways: hi ara
Eos Amaterasu: (the Malta local retreat coordinator!)
Eliza Madrigal: This is something Calvino has offered to take on, actually, and we're happy to welcome his time and energy :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ara :) Glad you made it
arabella Ella: good to see everyone again :)
Maxine Walden: yes, nice to see you, Ara
Eliza Madrigal: SophiaSharon, as I sent an email outlining, has offered to take on the Chroniclie Coordinating role... which will include Scribes and other projects having to do with archiving, etc
Eliza Madrigal: Well, the email had to do with chronicles anyway :)
Liza Deischer: and the community co?
Eliza Madrigal: And I know that everyone has noticed Bleu's enthusiasm and organization with art events....
    Maxine Walden: :)), yes!
    Bleu Oleander: my pleasure!
Eliza Madrigal: so nice to have Bleu here to say Thanks 'in person' for taking on the Community Coordination role :)
Maxine Walden: and our benefit, Bleu
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    Liza Deischer: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: This is a role that has been a good idea, but rather dormant so far....
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Bleu Oleander: happy to contribute :)
Eos Amaterasu: sleeping in is good
Eliza Madrigal: and its important to keep our inworld activities energized. Bleu didn't realize she was stepping into it already hah
Bleu Oleander: slipped in through the back door
    Liza Deischer: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: So hm... guess other important points to consider are that I'll take no the 'Chair' role for the first 3 months... basically organizing the agenda and setting the pace of meetings, etc...
Eliza Madrigal: and then Eos will take over for the last three months
Eliza Madrigal: Just before the next transition point
Bleu Oleander: so this new team is for 6 mos?
Eliza Madrigal: In that time, we hope to develop detailed guidelines about many little procedures
    Eos Amaterasu: somewhat overlappingly, yes
    Eliza Madrigal: Yes, Bleu :)
Zen Arado: 'pace of meetings' ?
Eliza Madrigal: procedures including the transitions actually
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, just my strange way of saying zen, that we set things in motion, I guess, during meetings....
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Eliza Madrigal: get things started... so the person who puts up the agenda I guess sets the tone. We'll see... Actually, the group dynamic can't be underestimated... each wg member (and in fact every guardian) can suggest things for the agenda

    Very important to emphasise that:

Eliza Madrigal: The wg isn't meant to replace the imput of "everyone"... but to reduce email and to keep things running smoothly, etc
Zen Arado: guardian meetings you mean?
Eliza Madrigal: yes, or by sending an email to one of the members.... or even to the group if there is an issue which seems important, etc
Eliza Madrigal: I'm sure I'm leaving things out. Thanks for asking questions :)
Zen Arado: or organizing theme meetings?

    Guardian sessions themselves...

arabella Ella: I suggest that most information could be communicated and logged during guardian meetings unless it is essential info which all guardians need to know
Eliza Madrigal: Sure, Zen... it would be great for everyone to help organize... absolutely
    Eliza Madrigal: Ara, say more?
Liza Deischer: I understand that all 6 'seats' has ben counted for
arabella Ella: it would just be one way to motivate (hopefully) more guardians to attend guardian meetings and also a way to avoid email surplus in our inboxes
Liza Deischer: but who are the other co's doing what?
Eliza Madrigal: Its also just good/important to have 'bottom line' people. Otherwise things fall through just because of the nature of SL/internet/LIFE :)
    arabella Ella: /me nods
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes I see Ara. Indeed
Eliza Madrigal: Liza, what do you mean? sessions coordinator is pretty obvious...
Eliza Madrigal: you guys are all tired of my name in your inboxes I'm sure :)
arabella Ella: perhaps an agenda for the guardian meetings would motivate more prople ... just another suggestion
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Liza Deischer: eh...platform and, misses another one
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, Ara. I agree
Eliza Madrigal: We've done that from time to time actually... framed these sessions
    arabella Ella: yes
Eliza Madrigal: inworld coordinator is Storm and well, hard to describe all Storm does....
Bleu Oleander: seems to me that the guardian mtgs are too loose and sometimes more social than anything else
Zen Arado: I don't understand 'bottom line people' either
arabella Ella: yes Bleu that is my feeling too :)

    The Balance ...

Eliza Madrigal: We're slow getting started with the guardian sessions sometimes, agree, but at the same time, they have sometimes taken on a nice, light energy which I'd hate to sacrifice
Zen Arado: was my first impression too
Bleu Oleander: maybe a liason from WG to guardian mtgs?
Eliza Madrigal: So maybe we balance it better
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes the hope is that wg members do their best to attend
Eliza Madrigal: Also, the meetings and agenda are posted on the wiki
Eliza Madrigal: Is everyone aware of this?
Eos Amaterasu: there's 4 wg peeps here, as liaison?
arabella Ella: well i think we need to empathise and ask ... what would motivate more guardians to attend more regular guardian meetings?
    Eliza Madrigal: http://playasbeing.wik.is/PaB_Working_Group
    Bleu Oleander: yes, Ara
    Liza Deischer: another time :-)
Eliza Madrigal: Wonderful.. really appreciate when these things are brought up like this exactly...
Eliza Madrigal: Just as the village square discussion led into Art as Being :)
    arabella Ella: :)
Eliza Madrigal: which led into a nice party this week, celebrating PaB's 2nd birthday :)
arabella Ella: oh yes so sorry to have missed it but was travelling and did not have internet connection!
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, missed you Ara :) The thing is, one thing sparks another so wonderfully doesn't it :)
    Zen Arado: yes
arabella Ella: it certainly does :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes :)
    Maxine Walden: indeed
    Liza Deischer: yes :-)

Riddle points out that great ideas and energy often arise (or don't have to) from loose discussions...

Riddle Sideways: was not sure if the village square topic was on an agenda
Riddle Sideways: but it was a loose discussion
Eliza Madrigal: not at all, exactly
Riddle Sideways: that rolled on and on
    Riddle Sideways: to become
Eliza Madrigal: arose from the dynamic free-play
Riddle Sideways: minutes later storm had it built
Eos Amaterasu: all that we are is a result of what we have yakked
Eliza Madrigal: as many, maybe most great ideas do!
Bleu Oleander: Storm is great like that!
    Eliza Madrigal: Yes!
Maxine Walden: yes, Storm is amazing in that (and other) ways
Eliza Madrigal: Also, we want to leave room in these sessions for topics which arise during the week that someone may want to bring up, etc
Eliza Madrigal: So I like framing the meetings, but wouldn't want a full agenda I think?
Riddle Sideways: then somebody just mentioned Art and Bleu jumped in
    Eliza Madrigal: Yes :))
    Bleu Oleander: agree Eliza
Eos Amaterasu: Our language, talk, here opens up being; language opens Being; art opens Being; ....
Maxine Walden: space for spontaneity in the meetings...
Liza Deischer: sorry, but I need to to
arabella Ella: yes it is always poss to have a balance between structure and liberty
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Liza, thanks for coming
    Riddle Sideways: bye lisa
Maxine Walden: nice to see you, Liza
    arabella Ella: bye Liza
    Zen Arado: bye Liza
    Eos Amaterasu: bye LIza
    Bleu Oleander: bye Liza
Eliza Madrigal: Right... we can't organize spontaneity... can make space for it
    Maxine Walden: :)
Eos Amaterasu: also make form for it , like Bleu's building guidelines
Eliza Madrigal: That is a wonderful picture of what the wg was meant to be about... just getting some of the background going more automatically... making space
    Maxine Walden: indeed, Eos
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes Eos :))
    Zen Arado: form vs emptiness?
Eos Amaterasu: maybe not vs :-)
Eliza Madrigal: form is emptiness :)
Zen Arado: and emtiness is form
    Eliza Madrigal: /me smiles
    Zen Arado: :)

Maxine Walden: a space, like this Hall, and this hour, for us to gather and in the space to inform and inspire each other so that new ideas, thoughts, activities may billow forth

Riddle Sideways: and it is perfectly ok if deep thoughts and great ideas and action plans do not always occur

    Maxine Walden: absolutely, Riddle
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you Riddle, yes very important thought there
    Eliza Madrigal: >whew<
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Maxine Walden: :))
Bleu Oleander: is an email going out to all the guardians re new wg? and if so maybe it could say that wg will try to be at guardian mtgs for a cross pollenization of sorts :)
Bleu Oleander: keeping the interaction dynamic
Eliza Madrigal: Sure Bleu, yes there will be an upcoming email, and good idea
    Maxine Walden: agree, bleu
Eos Amaterasu: that's essential (and so far has been the case)
Eliza Madrigal: We've usually attended... and I hope that some who are stepping out of the Wg, like Maxine for instance :), will still attend often
Maxine Walden: I certainly plan to keep coming to these meetings
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: there has (almost always) been 4 members of wg here each sunday
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
    Bleu Oleander: great
    Maxine Walden: hmm, yes, Riddle
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, realizing I left a question of sorts hanging, zen... bottom line person just means that if someone isn't sure who to discuss an idea or issue with, to have brought into the agenda, etc. it becomes clearer when there is a list of outlined roles...
Eliza Madrigal: So rather than everyone automatically emailing pema...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: who I know still wants to be emailed
Eliza Madrigal: but perhaps with issues like chat logs outstanding etc, I can do that :)
Eos Amaterasu: /me needs to leave a bit early - bye all
    Zen Arado: ok
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Eos, thanks :)
    Maxine Walden: bye, Eos
    Zen Arado: bye Eos
    Bleu Oleander: bye Eos
    Riddle Sideways: bye eos
    arabella Ella: bye Eos
    Zen Arado: thanks for clarification
Eliza Madrigal: most welcome. This is helping me, too! :)
Maxine Walden: very nice discussion and clarification, Eliza
Zen Arado: not conversant with management speak :)
Eliza Madrigal: hahah... not sure this is it either, zen
    Eliza Madrigal: hah
Maxine Walden: hmm, we have also all been learning, Zen, as we go
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you Maxine, yes so true!
Zen Arado: I have been out of working life for a long time
    Zen Arado: :)
Maxine Walden: and discovering that there is no 'best' way forward in terms of organizing or language, just trying to keep things going and evolving the best we can
    Zen Arado: sure
    Eliza Madrigal: /me nods
arabella Ella: well I really admire all you have done and wish to thank you for this as I know it must be really tough at times!
Maxine Walden: hoping to learn as we go, but not always getting it just right be any means
Zen Arado: yes and thanks for all the work that goes on in wg
Eliza Madrigal: We really appreciate the benefit of the doubt and patience and help
Eliza Madrigal: We're all in this together, happily :)
    Maxine Walden: yes, Eliza
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Riddle Sideways: /me is wondering how wg can really go on without maxine :)
Eliza Madrigal: tell me about it!
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
arabella Ella: /me will greatly miss Maxine's emails!
Maxine Walden: oh, guys, don't know what to say...I have been only one, and a rather minor part of the WG; but am not going far...will be around...
Eliza Madrigal: Maxine, and Pema, and Genesis, will still be very much involved... Thank Goodness :)
Eliza Madrigal: (BTW want to mention theme session today at 1PM... TSK)
Bleu Oleander: happy to hear that!
Maxine Walden: yes, the change means some loss but none of us are going far in the changeover
Maxine Walden: yes, will be having that theme session at 1pm today
arabella Ella: is the theme session at the pagoda?
Bleu Oleander: 1st session on TSK was great .... looking forward to today's
Maxine Walden: yes, where regular PaB sessions are held
Eliza Madrigal: and it is a very dynamic thing that one participates one way for a period of time, then another way, then another way... Circulation
    arabella Ella: oh great
    Maxine Walden: yes, Eliza
    Zen Arado: gtg
    arabella Ella: bye Zen
Maxine Walden: and look forward to seeing any who can come to the 1pm theme session
    Bleu Oleander: bye Zen
Zen Arado: there is a WOK meeting Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Zen :) Thanks....
Maxine Walden: yes, Zen, me too.
Eliza Madrigal: Actually I must get going, and yes there is Zen ;-)
arabella Ella: I must go too bye everyone and thanks again for everything1
    Bleu Oleander: bfn all
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you everyone. Much appreciation _/!\_
