Eliza Madrigal: Hi Agatha, Qt :))
    Qt Core: hi Eliza
Agatha Macbeth: Return of the Liz...
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you both... just settling in with fresh coffee
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
    Agatha Macbeth can smell it
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi yakuzza :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hiya Yaku :)
    Qt Core: hi Yaku
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi again
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Lucinda and Eden :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Lucinda
Qt Core: hi bleu, eden, luci
Eden Haiku: Yaku is in prayer?
    Eliza Madrigal: how so? hehe
    Agatha Macbeth: Probably asleep :)
    Eden Haiku: Hello Qt!
    Bleu Oleander: hi Lucinda, Qt
    Eden Haiku: Or playing scarecrow?
    Lucinda Lavender: Hello QT,BLeu,Yakuzza,Agatha,Eliza...
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hmm, on my screen the only strange thing was that i flew a bit over my pillow :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Levitation
Eliza Madrigal: prayer sometimes does that
    Eliza Madrigal: ;-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s for advanced practitioners :)
Eden Haiku: Oh, to me you looked like a mystic, with extended open arms :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: that is one of the final goeals
Agatha Macbeth: Do you do the rope trick Yaku?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: rope ?
Eden Haiku: You might might be further than you think on the road to mysticdom Yaku:)
Agatha Macbeth: You have to climb up a rope and disappear
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eos :)
Eden Haiku: Eos just dropped in :))
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi eos
    Qt Core: hi eos, zen
    Bleu Oleander: hi Eos Zen
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Zen, Eos
    Eden Haiku: Hi Zen ;)
    Zen Arado: Hi all :)
    Lucinda Lavender: Hi Eos, Zen...
    Eos Amaterasu: hi all..
Eliza Madrigal: Yakuzza was about to give us his levitation secrets
    Eos Amaterasu: drop minute
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eden Haiku: One goes up, one goes down...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: One goes up one down/
Agatha Macbeth: 'Love in an elevator'
Eden Haiku: Love in an elevator/
    Zen Arado: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Snap
    Eliza Madrigal: magic yakuzza
Eden Haiku: No, not snap Aga, was recycling your line in an haiku :)
Agatha Macbeth: Sounds like a basketball player
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh
Eliza Madrigal: I thought snap was that ag just happened to choose 7 syllables... heh
    Agatha Macbeth: I did?
    Eden Haiku: Yeah, she did!
Agatha Macbeth: Was not intentional I'm afraid

      We begin...

Eliza Madrigal: Anyway, we've got plenty to discuss today. Shall we begin?
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Eden Haiku: Sure
Eliza Madrigal: Great, thanks :) Several weeks ago we had a discussion about donations, and from that sprang ideas concerning what we were trying to accomlish, what to aim toward, what the base needs are, etc.
Eos Amaterasu: (Eden: one goes up one down / love in an elevator / the doors open wide )
    Eden Haiku: Excellent Eos!
Eliza Madrigal: We decided to do a few things like install tip jars, for instance... which are nearly ready to appear :)
Eliza Madrigal: And we made a page showing where the current donations were being targeted/what the needs are
Eden Haiku: Donation suggested would be $30 a month I think?
Eos Amaterasu: That's one option - Kira can accept recurring donations/subscriptions, through its PayPal account.
Eliza Madrigal: yes, thank you Eos
Eliza Madrigal: Here is the *first* page that was made: http://playasbeing.wik.is/Donations
    Agatha Macbeth is perusing
Eliza Madrigal: So as you see it shows a certain amount being donated, mostly from just a few participants....
Agatha Macbeth: I will take a better look at that later...
Eliza Madrigal: but then the question came up that some might rather donate toward particular in-world needs of PaB... that the 'base' made more sense to come from the group as a whole....
Eliza Madrigal: (have to apologize... having trouble with my links and windows this morning - one sec)
    Agatha Macbeth: NP Liz

Eos Amaterasu: Link to newer draft: http://playasbeing.wik.is/Donations/Donations_(draft_page%2c_April_2010)
Qt Core: may i tell about a sneaky trik we use to fincnce ourself ar my rl astronomer amateur club ?
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, okay... so !! Thanks Eos!
Eliza Madrigal: That's indeed what I was trying to reach :)
Eden Haiku: Empty page I'm afraid..
    Agatha Macbeth: Thx Eos
Eden Haiku: Ah on page 2 , yes...
    Eliza Madrigal: hmm, yes
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, qt, would love to hear about that
Agatha Macbeth 's head is spinning with allt hese links ;-)
Qt Core: we have a very low yearly fee, 20 euros
    Eden Haiku: Yes Qt?
Eos Amaterasu: What it boils down to is that there is a target amount of $800 per quarter to cover tier fees for PaB
Eos Amaterasu: And that could come out of subscription-type donations

Qt describes the way his astronomy club is maintained...

Qt Core: but we told ourself we are morally obliged to offer an euro, or 50 cent every time we met (each friday)
Qt Core: and those "free offer" are what keep us alive (financlially speaking)
Qt Core: most of others clubs in italy have much higher yearly fees that scare people away
Eden Haiku: Tip jars would be used like that I suppose?
Qt Core: in the end people guve even more, yearly than those higher fees, but without noticing it

    Tip jars as reminders...

Eos Amaterasu: Yes, could be. They would need to collect L$ 212,000 to get to USD $800 :-)
Eliza Madrigal: The tip jars are a wonderful idea to remind us all that it does take resources to maintain PaB
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Eliza Madrigal: Eos would you like to talk about the recurring donation structure?
Eliza Madrigal: (btw, making note Qt, thanks!)
Eos Amaterasu: Basically we can set up PapPal options to accept donations, on a monthly basis.
Eos Amaterasu: There could be several options for how much per month: $10, $30, $100 ....
Eos Amaterasu: I think for some people that
Eos Amaterasu: s doable and workable
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sharon :)
SophiaSharon Larnia says 'hi' and sits quietly ^^
    Agatha Macbeth: wb SSL

Zen Arado: I'm not clear about the difference between Kira and pab donations - do groups who attend Kira events also donate?
Zen Arado: or we just need to find $800 for pab?
Eliza Madrigal: Playasbeing is under the kira umbrella, and kira hires an accountant/maintains non-profit status
Eos Amaterasu: Kira Institute is the legal/financial umbrella under which PaB operates
    Agatha Macbeth: Right
Eos Amaterasu: PaB is the most major Kira activity right now
Zen Arado: yes but some of us also attend Kira events
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Eliza Madrigal: yes, and actually with most workshops being attended by pab-ers, yes :)
Zen Arado: so should we finance Kira too?
Eos Amaterasu: There is a "Kira Target", so you can make a directed donation that way
Zen Arado: it's all going to Kira anyway?
Qt Core: so when making donations to kira you could/should say if it is for kira at large or specifically for pab ?
Bleu Oleander: since Kira/PaB is a non'profit .... is there a receipt for donations that is tax deductable?
    Eos Amaterasu: It's a US non-profit
    Eliza Madrigal: yes

Eden Haiku: Will there be a "PaB target" also on the new donation page Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: so people paying US taxes would get a receipt
Eliza Madrigal: Right, and the base goes as is structured toward the bottom, with pab donations meeting the base needs of pab "fixed expenses" first
Eliza Madrigal: (the bottom of the 'draft' page, that is)
Eliza Madrigal: This is also why our beginning to discuss things like fundraisers and such seems important... that we can creatively generate resources together in various ways, as time goes on
Eliza Madrigal: Eos, so the amounts will start at around 10 or $15? Do others have thoughts about the ranges?
    Eden Haiku: $20?
Eos Amaterasu: The range should be whatever works for people
Bleu Oleander: are these required monthly costs for anyone participating in PaB?
    Eos Amaterasu: No, Bleu
Eliza Madrigal: No Bleu, not at all
    Bleu Oleander: sry confused
Eliza Madrigal: Paypal gives the option of recurring donations should someone like to donate that way...
Eos Amaterasu: There are currently a few people who donate to PaB/Kira: idea is to make this easier to manage and extend it to other
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eos Amaterasu: For people in the uS it's tax-deductible donation

Eliza Madrigal: So the idea is to come at this from several angles.... tip jars/ recurring donations by month, quarter, year/ 'one-time' donantions/grants / fundraisers....
    Agatha Macbeth: Ok
Eliza Madrigal: and of course everyone measuring for themselves, what they are able to contribute
Eden Haiku: Qt story about his atronomers club was inspiring I think.
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Eliza Madrigal: So all ideas are welcome and appreciated, and yes I'd actually like to hear more about that Qt, about how many members you have, what the needs are, etc
Zen Arado: we'rre in the Summer quarter now presumably

     :) PaB dancers...

Eden Haiku: I know at dance places one feels like giving to the tip jar when the music is very good, maybe good discussions about Being could make us want to tip too, who knows:)
    Eliza Madrigal: heheheh
Eliza Madrigal: at the end of every session we'll have a dance off
Agatha Macbeth: A DJ instead of a GoC?
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eos Amaterasu: Stuff dollars into your, um, ....
Eden Haiku: Lots of partys would be a good idea too ;)
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Agatha Macbeth: PaB is in da house
Eden Haiku: Though no taxing the onigokko :))
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Qt Core: we are about 50, 20 active with much lover financial needs that pab (luckily ;) )
Eliza Madrigal is good with lots of parties
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Yakuzza makes a suggestion and gets the Apple Evangelists going...

Yakuzza Lethecus: lol, and an amazon link through pab for the contemplative books we buy :P
    Qt Core: lower
    SophiaSharon Larnia: haha Yak
    Eos Amaterasu: good idea, Yak
Eliza Madrigal: You know yakuzza, we DO give lots of book suggestions and such....
    Zen Arado: yes
Yakuzza Lethecus: eos made me buy a real book in a long time :)
Eos Amaterasu: Wol could write a script to harvest the chat logs for book links....
Eden Haiku: And we could ask to be sponsored by Apple too ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Nice!
    Zen Arado: true Eden :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: ähm i have a good retreat picture
Eos Amaterasu wonders if Eden is on her iPad
Agatha Macbeth: Think that's going a bit too far Edie :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: witch would definetly apply for apple
Yakuzza Lethecus: eos pema and wol sitting all together with their apple products
Eden Haiku: You and I especiaLly Zen. Evangelists we are...
    Zen Arado: he he
Eos Amaterasu: (we could make money being billboards for apple)
Eden Haiku: No, iPad has no visuals yet Eos, did you try Pocket Metaverse?
Eos Amaterasu: No... I'm sure a real SL browser will come
Yakuzza Lethecus: you could still use vnc to the real computer :P
Eden Haiku: The new Brushes for iPad is amazing Zen! My Dad draw his first electronic drawing on it yesterday. Amazing!
Eliza Madrigal: Ohhh we're definitely getting sponsorship now....
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Zen Arado: ah yes it would work better on a bigger screen
Lucinda Lavender: Lucinda Lavender is pondering if she could belong and pay at two places...
Eden Haiku: Sitting in the backyard on the swing. I'm real evangelist ;)
Eden Haiku: We are joking but this is good brain storming, ideas will spring forth from this kind of jam session.
Eliza Madrigal: Lucinda (and everyone), the hope is that everyone will give as *honestly* able... which means that it will be different for everyone
Eliza Madrigal: and that yes, we'll generate ideas. AND the time that is given is not to be underestimated....
    Lucinda Lavender: yes...a good point.
Eden Haiku: Maybe we can hold an inventory fashion sale ladies? Give profits to PaB!
Eliza Madrigal: whenever we talk about funds its easy to separate it from all that guardians do on a daily basis... but that would be a huge mistake
    Agatha Macbeth likes that idea
Zen Arado: evengelist Eden / painting on her ipad / better buy one

Eden Haiku: Talking about daily basis Eliza, I accindetly took an appointment at my session time tomorrow morning.
Eliza Madrigal: we bring what we have, like dreams to the circle :)
Eden Haiku: Tried to change it, still waiting for phone call.
Eliza Madrigal: hehe, okay Eden. I've done that before... wanna trade?
Eden Haiku: If I cannot make it to my session, can someone claim the log and send it to me?
Eliza Madrigal: yup, or just post it!
Eden Haiku: Trade for next Friday morning? Checking...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye all :))
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Sharon, thanks for coming
    Zen Arado: bye Sharon
    Agatha Macbeth: C ya Shaz
    Bleu Oleander: bye sharon

    Eliza Madrigal: Thanks for coming
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye
    Agatha Macbeth: wb Lucinda
Eliza Madrigal: Oh! I wanted to mention too... that Sharon is making books of the scribes and she and Storm will be installing a shelf at the pub :))
Eliza Madrigal: its fantastic, I've gotten a peek
    Agatha Macbeth: Great
    Bleu Oleander: cool
    Qt Core: brb

Eliza Madrigal: Yeah... I love the idea of being able to sit by the fire and read scribes...
Agatha Macbeth: How are the PaB chronicles coming along?
Eliza Madrigal: and its another way to highlight the contributions people make to the community
Eden Haiku: If I can change my appointment for tomorrow, I will be at my session. If not, can you replace Eliza? and I would replace you next Friday (the 4th)?
Eliza Madrigal: She's been really focused on those, too... of course we could use more interviewers...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Eliza Madrigal: Sure Eden, of course :))
    Eliza Madrigal: Thanks
    Agatha Macbeth: Or interviewees
    Eliza Madrigal: both!
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eden Haiku: Breathes out with relief, thanks...
    Agatha Macbeth: Indeed
Agatha Macbeth: Lucinda is doing a dance

Eliza Madrigal: Of everyone sitting here for instance, only I have a pab interview on file....
Eliza Madrigal: so we should address that! :)
Agatha Macbeth: Well there ya go
    Agatha Macbeth grins
Eliza Madrigal: In fact... hah... we could match up right here and interview one another...
Eliza Madrigal: or rather set up times/dates to do so
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth: I'm sure i could give you an interesting story ;-)
Eliza Madrigal would love that :)))
Eliza Madrigal: blue/eden could interview one another, then ya/qt, me/ag... or we could switch all around.... hehe
    Agatha Macbeth: That could work
    Bleu Oleander: sounds fun
Eliza Madrigal: I don't need to be interviewed again though, so ag could then interview someone else
    Eliza Madrigal: maybe zen ...
    Agatha Macbeth: Aw
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
    Eden Haiku: Sounds nice Eliza.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: qt will you send me an email with a bit more background info on the structure of your club?
Qt Core: interviewing someone ? without the palest idea about what to ask ?
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, but you can cheat qt... look at other interviews :)
