The guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are Storm's.

Storm Nordwind sits quietly in the pavilion as the hour bell strikes.

Quilty arrived and we talked about mutual exhaustion and our current and future plans for dealing with it.

    Storm Nordwind: Hello Quilty
    Quilty Bookmite: hi Storm.
Quilty Bookmite: I may not stay long. I'm pretty worn out from driving.
Storm Nordwind: That's understandable. It's just good to see you here.
    Quilty Bookmite: Thanks. You too.
    Quilty Bookmite: How are you?
Storm Nordwind: Actually I'm off work! My body has realised that doing two full time jobs at the same time is hard :)
Quilty Bookmite: Oh! Sorry to hear that. I did see on your blog that you have been having health problems.
Storm Nordwind: Well that was a while ago. And the blog itself (or rather the lack of keeping it up at the moment) is a reflection of how busy I've been
Quilty Bookmite: Well, I hope you can find a level that you are comfortable with.
Storm Nordwind: But I needed to get the Kira Cafe complete for October 7, and it is. So now relaxation allows it all to hang out :)
    Quilty Bookmite: Good. :-)
Quilty Bookmite: I have been dealing with work/life balance for years, although I am not far from having achieved some sort of balance. :-)
Quilty Bookmite: My company can drive people pretty hard but I have found ways of pushing back.
Storm Nordwind: Ah... well in my case, it is work-1, work-2 and life!
Quilty Bookmite: Yes. You probably need to do something about that. :-)
Storm Nordwind: And since work-2 will become work-1 sometime in Q1 2009 when I move to Denver, it's just something I will gladly accept
Quilty Bookmite: And work-1 will disappear?
    Storm Nordwind: Yup
    Quilty Bookmite: Good. :-)
Storm Nordwind: I can work for Kira then with no distractions
Quilty Bookmite: Excellent! As long as you are doing what you want to be doing. :-)
Storm Nordwind: Yes. I have never worked with such a great group of people before. :)

Two Brits together. Guess what we talk about. You've got it: the weather!

Quilty Bookmite: I visited Denver some years ago. Nice part of the country.
    Storm Nordwind: It is
Storm Nordwind: 299 days of sunshine more than we get in Glasgow
    Storm Nordwind exaggerates... a bit
Quilty Bookmite: Most places get more sunshine than Glasgow. :-)
Quilty Bookmite: It gets pretty cold in winter there though.
    Storm Nordwind: Not any more
Storm Nordwind: Oh you mean in Denver
Quilty Bookmite: Not much of a spring or autumn, just straight from summer to winter.
    Quilty Bookmite: Yes.
    Storm Nordwind: Sure
Storm Nordwind: But I know the spiritual community there, and there is continuity from what I do in Glasgow
Quilty Bookmite: That's good to know. It is always a consideration for me when I think about moving.
Quilty Bookmite: Never thought it would be this important. :-)
    Storm Nordwind nods
Storm Nordwind: The community is fabulous in Glasgow, and in that way I shall be sad to leave
Storm Nordwind: But there is much to build in Denver
Storm Nordwind: And my wife-to-be follows the same tradition as I do
Quilty Bookmite: Also good. My own wife is also a Buddhist but a different tradition.

    Quilty needed to leave.

Quilty Bookmite: I think I am going to have to go. I need sleep. We are off to Wales on Saturday and need to pack tomorrow.
Storm Nordwind: You do. Thank you for the short chat. My pleasure as always. :)
Quilty Bookmite: Take care my friend and I hope you can relax a bit more now the cafe is finished.
    Storm Nordwind: Thank you. Bye!
    Quilty Bookmite: Bye.
    Storm Nordwind: Namaste
    Quilty Bookmite: Namaste

Storm Nordwind watches Quilty leave and settles to enjoy the silence.

After a while, another vistor arrived.

    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Storm
    Storm Nordwind: Greetings stevenaia!
stevenaia Michinaga: nice job on the cafe, that was your work, right
Storm Nordwind: Yes it was and still is for some extras planned. Thank you so much! :)
Storm Nordwind: At the moment you are not rezzing for me. You're a cloud of pulsating light!
Storm Nordwind: Ah now you're here
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I often get that as well
Storm Nordwind: Network connection slow perhaps?
    stevenaia Michinaga: mac vs PC
Storm Nordwind: And you are on a Mac?
    stevenaia Michinaga: ys
    stevenaia Michinaga: u?
    Storm Nordwind: On a PC
    Storm Nordwind nods
Storm Nordwind: It seems a long time since we were both in the same meeting :)
stevenaia Michinaga: am I the first to join you today?, yes, it has been
stevenaia Michinaga: my time is generally 19:00
Storm Nordwind: Quilty was with me in the Cafe and then here earlier
stevenaia Michinaga: I am off today got the holiday and in between things at the moment
Storm Nordwind: Cool. Then I benefit! :)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, a good day to reflect

stevenaia briefly raised an interesting topic rarely discussed - rarely, that is, in Play as Being sessions I've been in.

stevenaia Michinaga: discussion of forgiveness and compassion surround my day
stevenaia Michinaga: fits in well here
Storm Nordwind: Forgiveness is an interesting one. I have come to dwell mostly on compassion instead.
Storm Nordwind: I think one may obviate the other. perhaps?
stevenaia Michinaga: forgiveness is two-sided, wwhat you give and what you ask for from your errors
Storm Nordwind: Actually when I am sorry amd I apologise, I do not ask forgiveness. Forgiveness, in my view, is entirely for the benefit of the giver.
stevenaia Michinaga: one of the forgiveness i speak of is asking for forgiveness from your own misdeeds, from who, well that's up to you
    Storm Nordwind: Yes. I agree.
stevenaia Michinaga: so no, there is no person I am asking it from, more to start with a clean slate and to begin again
Storm Nordwind: I understand. It is one limb of the Prayer of the Seven Limbs in some Buddhist traditions: "I confess my wrong deeds from all time..."
stevenaia Michinaga: imore like a rinse cycle
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
    Storm Nordwind: Purification practice
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I assume most beliefs have something similar, allows you to move on if things become burdensome
    Storm Nordwind nods
stevenaia Michinaga: or, just to take a moment to refect, a day, 9 seconds, whatever
Storm Nordwind: It is indeed a powerful practice, with many benefits :)

I noticed that my avatar was dressed rather more floridly than normal, with ruff and diamond pin.

Storm Nordwind looks at himself and sees he is rather ostentatiously dressed for this meeting!
stevenaia Michinaga: it could be a formal event as well
    Storm Nordwind: True :)
stevenaia Michinaga: will you be attening PaB fest?
Storm Nordwind: Unfortunately I will not
Storm Nordwind: I have visa issues
stevenaia Michinaga: oh, sounds like an interesting story, something second life can bridge in many ways
Storm Nordwind: Yes. Indeed the reason for the visa issue is Second Life anyway!
    stevenaia Michinaga: hmm, how unfortunate
Storm Nordwind: Oh no. It is most fortunate!
Storm Nordwind: It is in Second Life where I first met the woman who is to become my wife
Storm Nordwind: I am emigrating to the US to marry her
Storm Nordwind: But I need the fiance visa
Storm Nordwind: And it takes time
    Storm Nordwind: A conveyor belt
Storm Nordwind: Until then, I have to stay away and she visits me here in Scotland
Storm Nordwind: Some time in the winter I hope to be living in quite a different time zone!
stevenaia Michinaga: well congratualtions, I have met many people how have found great relationships here
    Storm Nordwind nods thanks :)

    And we parted.

stevenaia Michinaga: well I hope our paths can cross then, I must go, hope to see you again soon
Storm Nordwind: A pleasure to see you again!
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps at the Cafe too :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
    Storm Nordwind: Namaste

Storm Nordwind looks at the time. It's 1:50pm SLT. Perhaps a good time to finish.
