Mickorod Renard: you know , i had a little glimpse of what its like to see diferently,about a couple of years ago

Mickorod Renard: but after a glipse i realized i needed something to make sense of it all

arabella Ella: it is strange how we anthropomrphise time ... not sure re spelling there

arabella Ella: we make time sound like it is a person

arabella Ella: augustine has some interesting essays on time in his confessions ... must find time to re read those

arabella Ella: I cant make it either ... too far

arabella Ella: would love to though

Wol Euler: I'd love to go, but no.

arabella Ella: it is a bit more difficult for those of us in europe i guess

Wol Euler: I am invited to a wedding in Milwaukee in early July, and can neither cross the Atlantic twice nor spend six weeks in the US

arabella Ella: yes of course ... although the wedding sounds lovely

Wol Euler: yeah, I'm really looking forward to it. Two people who met in SL, marrying in RL

Scathach Rhiadra: yes the wedding should be very nice

Wol Euler: with laptops :)

arabella Ella: that sounds fantastic

Wol Euler: yep, they met here about 18 months ago, met in RL six months after that, moved together three months ago

Mickorod Renard: they had a program on uk television last year showing similar things that go on in sl

arabella Ella: yes it is now on you tube too

Mickorod Renard: they only sensationalised the ,,,,strange things

arabella Ella: yes

Mickorod Renard: like rl marriage break ups

Wol Euler: of course. You can't sell advertising on a program that says "people use SL to sit around and talk about meditation"

Mickorod Renard: due to sl

Mickorod Renard: yes,,who was it who said ,,all publicity is good publicity?

Mickorod Renard: or was it the other way around

Mickorod Renard: no such thing as bad publicity

Wol Euler: well ... I disagree

arabella Ella: so Wol have you already met the couple who are getting married ... in RL I mean?

Wol Euler: publicity which distorts the nature of what it "reports" on, is bad.

Mickorod Renard: i have to admit that i dont want to tell my work collegues i come on sl so much

Wol Euler: no, I haven't met any of the yet. Seen a few RL photos but most of us don't know th others in RL

arabella Ella: media distorts quite often

arabella Ella: wow cool

Wol Euler: (we're making a kind of conference of it :)

arabella Ella: so it must be really exciting to meet them for the first time

arabella Ella: ooops shhhhhh

Wol Euler: yes, it'll be very interesting to see if one can identify the Rl flesh-av by listening for a personality one knows

arabella Ella: i have met a few ppl in RL who i met on SL

Mickorod Renard: i went to a sl wedding other day

Wol Euler: we're going to have nametags and lanyards, with our SL identities on them :)

Mickorod Renard: wowwww

arabella Ella: and it is lovely i find to first get to know the real person ... then the RL image later

Mickorod Renard: I was supprised how many at the sl wedding were on voice

Mickorod Renard: suprised

Scathach Rhiadra: you probably know the real personalities better than if you had first met in RL

Wol Euler: very possibly :)

Mickorod Renard: I get that feeling too

arabella Ella: yes it is a very different way of getting to know ppl i find with no distraction from the RL image

Wol Euler: it's possible that I might never have "met" some of them in RL, just wouldn't have spoken to them or they to me.

arabella Ella: it involves different forms of judgement of character

Wol Euler: difference of age, class, style ... and handicap

arabella Ella: exactly

arabella Ella: normally the RL image is what we first assess when we meet someone new

arabella Ella: then we get to know the person

Wol Euler nods

arabella Ella: and our first assessment may change

arabella Ella: in SL i find it is the other way around

arabella Ella: altho there are always surprises in store :)

Scathach Rhiadra: are there many guests flying in from different parts of the world?

Wol Euler: most are Americans, but yes, three Germans and one from UK

Mickorod Renard: i have read several scientific papers that do outline that physical attraction is important in like a genetic way

Wol Euler: (counting myself as German for these purposes)

Scathach Rhiadra: ah so real friendship:)

Wol Euler: well, yse, scath: very real. I know them very well, just not their bodies.

Wol Euler: I've met anonymous blogging buddies in RL before, I expect it will be a bit like that.

Wol Euler: a mixture of new/unknown and old/very well known

arabella Ella: yes

Wol Euler: I expect that the flesh av will be as ignorable as people's choice of av here is.

Wol Euler: Ade is Ade to me, whether she's a lion or a human or a bird
