The Guardian for this meeting was Dakini Rhode. The comments are by Dakini.

Pila, Stevenaia, Eos, Resting, kenji, and I discuss Appreciating the Presence of Appearance as a Presentation of Being and a few more acronyms are invented...

stevenaia Michinaga: friends were going to do hooping by the river tonight,
but moved to indoors w/ mirrored "moon" ball instead
      Pila Mulligan: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: due to the rain
      Pila Mulligan: hooping is ____?
      Dakini Rhode: hula hooping Steve?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, but I think it;s goten all formalized now
      Dakini Rhode: onooooo
      Pila Mulligan: ahh, NCAA standards?
Dakini Rhode: how can you formalize a thing like that?
      stevenaia Michinaga: more stringent
      Pila Mulligan: :)
      Pila Mulligan: really :)
      Pila Mulligan: stringent shimmy
stevenaia Michinaga: well, there hooping , jumping through hoops hooping on
      elbows, hooping for hours
Pila Mulligan: it sounds pretty serious
Dakini Rhode: sounds fun... but i have to ask something
Dakini Rhode: what is a moon ball?
stevenaia Michinaga: an indoor replacement for aq full moon....mirrored disco
      ball
Pila Mulligan remembers a Pink Floyd concert in 1971
Dakini Rhode: that's what i had pictured :)
Dakini Rhode: i think i have one in my inv. here
      stevenaia Michinaga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBaWPTCzhM4
      stevenaia Michinaga: hooping
Pila Mulligan: wow, cool, Steve -- thanks
Pila Mulligan: I couldn't help but think: Hip-Hoop
      Dakini Rhode: cool
stevenaia Michinaga: you will find hoopers in many yoga studios
Pila Mulligan: I liked the break hooping :)

cosmic Ghost makes a brief appearance

    cosmic ghost_001.png

      cosmic Ghost: soory must go
      stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm
      Pila Mulligan: bye

    a bit of googling ensues

    cosmic ghost_002.png

Pila Mulligan: something about her av reminded me of the movie The Fifth
      Element
      Dakini Rhode: very glowy
      stevenaia Michinaga: my favorite movie
      Pila Mulligan: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: she did seem like the singer
Pila Mulligan: yes, i was trying to rememebrt the singer's name
      Pila Mulligan: Diva ...?
      Dakini Rhode: this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MR6D7tL38U
Pila Mulligan: yes, Dakini -- thanks
Pila Mulligan: cosmic's protrusions were more colorful, however
      Pila Mulligan: Diva Plavalaguna :)
Dakini Rhode: getting lost in youtube here :)
      Pila Mulligan: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: you are quicker on google than I am Pila
Pila Mulligan: she has a capitvating voice, for sure
      Dakini Rhode: hauntingly beautiful
      Dakini Rhode: so.
Pila Mulligan: ... Leeloo and 'badaboom' seem to have become cultural icons
Dakini Rhode: ono don't make me google again
      Dakini Rhode: please
      Dakini Rhode: :)
      stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Pila Mulligan: ... fastest Google in the West, Steve :)

    We're joined by Resting...

      Pila Mulligan: hi Resting
      stevenaia Michinaga: hello Resting
      Dakini Rhode: hi Resting :)
      Resting Thor: hi guys!
      Pila Mulligan: how are you?
      Resting Thor: relaxing
Pila Mulligan: ... we were just reminiscing on the movie The Fifth Element
Resting Thor: not space but love :)
Pila Mulligan: ... Leeloo and 'badaboom' :)
      Pila Mulligan: hi Eos
      Dakini Rhode: hello Eos
      Eos Amaterasu: Hi all!
Pila Mulligan: how are you, Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: Pretty good, busy life all around, more first than second
Pila Mulligan: earlier Steve noted the full moon is tomorrow -- I alway notice
a kind of mood shift with the full moon
Eos Amaterasu: Ah, yes, I noticed it thru the clouds
Eos Amaterasu: Hoping to catch it in our little pool
      Pila Mulligan: brighter nights
      Pila Mulligan: :)
      Dakini Rhode: :)

    Eos gets us on topic...

Eos Amaterasu: Has a topic emerged for discussion?
Pila Mulligan: not yet -- but here's a factiod: "This Saturday night, Jan.
10th, another perigee Moon is coming. It's the biggest full Moon of 2009,
almost identical to the one that impressed onlookers in Dec. 2008"
Dakini Rhode: actually, not yet... i think it may be the moon
Pila Mulligan: oops, misread -- I thought it was June
      Pila Mulligan: my bad
      Pila Mulligan: old eyes :)
stevenaia Michinaga: Do you have a topic Eos?
      Eos Amaterasu: Not really
      stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Dakini Rhode: has there been a theme to playasbeing of late?
Pila Mulligan: I think there are presently a few themes

    ==>

Eos Amaterasu: Appreciate the presence of appearance.....

    ==>

Pila Mulligan: tomorrow Sophia and Pema do Islamic ideas

    ==>

Eos Amaterasu: and appreciate the presence of appearance as a presentation of
    being

    ==>

Pila Mulligan: oh, again, misttok the question .. :)
      Dakini Rhode: what's the difference?
      Eos Amaterasu: what's the mistook?
Pila Mulligan: the acronym theme as oposed to topical themes
Eos Amaterasu: I think subtle difference
Pila Mulligan: appreciate the presence of appearance as a presentation of
being has been in circulation recently
Dakini Rhode: either way is good, Pila
      Pila Mulligan: :)
      Dakini Rhode: or both
      Dakini Rhode: both
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, I"m looking forward to the Sophia Placebo discussion with
      Islam
Pila Mulligan: if only I can get up at 4 am :)

    kenji joins in the discussion...

    cosmic ghost_011.png

      Pila Mulligan: hi kenji
      kenji Pookes: Hi all
      Dakini Rhode: welcome kenji
      Eos Amaterasu: :-)
      Dakini Rhode: :)
Pila Mulligan: how are you, Kenji?
kenji Pookes: Not bad and you?
      Pila Mulligan: fine thanks
Dakini Rhode: when i saw the words "presence of appearance", "presence" seemed
to me that it was pointing at the "beingness" of appearance
Dakini Rhode: or the essence of appearance might be a better way to express it
Eos Amaterasu: presence is an interesting word / topic
Pila Mulligan: it sounds to me like a variation on the movie analogy theme,
      like Plato's Cave
Dakini Rhode: how is that, Pila?
Pila Mulligan: the appearance of things being a presentation or picture
      Eos Amaterasu: a projection?
Pila Mulligan: a presence of appearance -- projected perhaps
      Pila Mulligan: manifest perhaps
Eos Amaterasu: hmm, I've been experiencing it perhaps more through touch sense
      than sight sense
kenji Pookes: Eos and I had a long chat last night and he learned how
incredibly dense I am, but I'll ask: what is a "presence of appearnce"?
Eos Amaterasu: presence is when you feel the other
      kenji Pookes: the other what?
Eos Amaterasu: somewhat as you feel yourself
Pila Mulligan: do you get appearance, kenji?
Eos Amaterasu: the other thing, or the other person
      kenji Pookes: Not really.
Pila Mulligan: does anyhitng appear around you now?
      kenji Pookes: It's just there.
Pila Mulligan: but is has not disappeared :)
kenji Pookes: IT hasn't appeared, either. It's just there.
Pila Mulligan: I think that is the presence fpo appearance
kenji Pookes: Sounds like a complex way to say stuff is out there.
      Pila Mulligan: it is :)
Resting Thor: every sense perception is an appearance is it not?
kenji Pookes: Why not just say stuff is out there.
Dakini Rhode: that's an interesting way to put it
Pila Mulligan: appreciate the perception of stuff out there as a presentation
      of being
      Eos Amaterasu: appreaciate just there-ness
Resting Thor: it is not logical to say stuff is out there
      Pila Mulligan: ok with me
      kenji Pookes: brb
Resting Thor: we only have sense perceptions
Resting Thor: not direct awareness of outside stuff

    ==>

Pila Mulligan: appreciate sense perceptions of stuff seeming to be out there
      as a presentation of being

    ==>

Dakini Rhode: we need to send that one to Pema, Pila
      Pila Mulligan: :)
      stevenaia Michinaga: yes
      Dakini Rhode: ;-D

    ;-D

Resting Thor: being doesn't exist separate from our assertion of its existence
Eos Amaterasu: that's really out there :-)
Pila Mulligan: it needs context, though
Resting Thor: so nothing to present appearance
      Resting Thor: by your statement
      Pila Mulligan: ergo, presentation, perhaps
Dakini Rhode: it's interesting to think that if you can't perceive it, it
      seems to be nothing

    ==>

Pila Mulligan: appreciate sense perceptions of stuff seeming to be out there
      as an assertion of existence

    ==>

Resting Thor: thats the question i think

    ==>

Eos Amaterasu: appreaciate the seeming to be of sense pereceptions

    ==>

Pila Mulligan: Buddhism always lead to Atman questions, in my experinece
Pila Mulligan: what's asserting this exiostence?
      Eos Amaterasu: never :-)
      Eos Amaterasu: good question
Resting Thor: the practice can be searching for the "asserter" :)
Pila Mulligan: projection? manifestation? individuals? collective?
      Pila Mulligan: :)
Eos Amaterasu: Unlike Plato, in such an approach there is no screen
Pila Mulligan: Being is the screen?
      Eos Amaterasu: it's all movie
Eos Amaterasu: the being of appearance is not something other than appearance
Eos Amaterasu: but it is tangible, which itself is appearance
Dakini Rhode: presence and appearance inseparable?
Dakini Rhode: noticing the substitution of being for presence
Eos Amaterasu: presence is tangibility, neh?
      Dakini Rhode: neh?
Eos Amaterasu: often when we say we feel presence we mean we feel the other
more strongly, or as, we feel ourselves
Eos Amaterasu: neh = is it not (in Japanese)
Dakini Rhode is seeing 'appreciate the presence of appearance' as koan
Dakini Rhode: so many meanings in those words
Eos Amaterasu: presence also has a field quality
Eos Amaterasu: things emerge from presence
Eos Amaterasu: presencing is like listening
Eos Amaterasu: the pause that's pregnant
      Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Dakini Rhode: i was googling a definition of presence :)
Eos Amaterasu: "presencing" has become a big movement (cf Otto Scharmer and
      Theory U)
      Dakini Rhode: oboy
Dakini Rhode: is this presencing what we're alluding to?
      Eos Amaterasu: I think theyr
Eos Amaterasu: they are related, but independent, ....
      Dakini Rhode: wb
stevenaia Michinaga: I msut be off
      stevenaia Michinaga: :)
      Pila Mulligan: bye Steve
      Dakini Rhode: byeeee
      Eos Amaterasu: ciao
      Pila Mulligan: happy hooping
Dakini Rhode: can you say more about presencing Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: Well, there are a lot of contexts, etc.
      Dakini Rhode: must be :)
Eos Amaterasu: but I was just thinking that presence also has fragile quality
Eos Amaterasu: you feel presence partly because you're not totally it, there's
      some uncertainty
Eos Amaterasu: which maybe is also part of openness
Eos Amaterasu: uncertainly and openness about yourself as well
Eos Amaterasu: mabye the "pre" part of "presense" suggests that
      Dakini Rhode: :)
Dakini Rhode: having just erased my former comment due to the silence...
Pila Mulligan also needs to attend to rl now -- bye Dakini and Eos, nice chat
      :)
      Dakini Rhode: bye Pila
      Eos Amaterasu: Bye Pila!
Dakini Rhode: they're dropping like flies
      Eos Amaterasu: hmm :-)
Dakini Rhode: shall we continue or is this a good time to close the chat?
Eos Amaterasu: I've stayed longer than I intended - late here - so perhaps "to
      be continued...."
Dakini Rhode: good with me :)
      Dakini Rhode: thank you, Eos
      Eos Amaterasu: Thank you, bye!
      Dakini Rhode: bye

    and we depart...
