    Pila Mulligan: it is indeed
Pila Mulligan: kind of vanilla sweet
    Nymf Hathaway: Spoiled man :)
    Pila Mulligan: yes, true
Pila Mulligan: this is the second bunch -- I picked the first bunch too soon
Nymf Hathaway: yes...we find out by doing :)
Pila Mulligan: better to let them sit in the stalk on thr tree I learned
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: have you posted a chat log yet?
Nymf Hathaway: well we got the brocolli out to late :( it made flowers :) now we need to wait for the next to grow :)
    Nymf Hathaway: no not yet
Pila Mulligan: yes, veggies require careful timing it seems
Pila Mulligan: I was going to do this session for Maxine but if you'd like to learn how you can claim the log and I'll help you post it
Nymf Hathaway: its nice to learn this
    Nymf Hathaway: Fine with me
    Pila Mulligan: cool
Pila Mulligan: 1st step: claim thelog -- you did :)
Nymf Hathaway: hmm that went wrong :)
    Pila Mulligan: what happened?
Pila Mulligan: it will probably already have your email address from the group memebrship list
Pila Mulligan: did it ask for your email address?
    Nymf Hathaway: True
    Nymf Hathaway: no
Nymf Hathaway: well yes...let me check its exact words
Pila Mulligan: ok, it will send you a URL link to the chat log when the session ends
Nymf Hathaway: [13:07] PaB Listener Master: Add your e-mail address to the Autologging system by saying it on channel 17, e.g. "/17 fred.jones@example.com" (without the quotes, obviously). If you have problems or questions, send an IM to Wol Euler or Fael Illyar.
    Nymf Hathaway: Thank you :)
    sophia Placebo: greetings
Pila Mulligan: oh, it does want your address then
    Pila Mulligan: hi sophia
    Nymf Hathaway: Hello Sophia :)
Nymf Hathaway: let me try again :)
Pila Mulligan: Nymf is getting a feel for how to claim and pst a chat log
    Pila Mulligan: post*
Pila Mulligan: how are you, sophia?
    Nymf Hathaway: yes worked :)
    Pila Mulligan: :) cool
sophia Placebo: good ty , yourself?
    Pila Mulligan: I'm fine, thanks
Pila Mulligan: Nymf, some people like to include SL photos of the group in the chat log, or maybe a photo from the wbe related to the topic
Nymf Hathaway: Thanks for the tip :)
Pila Mulligan: I know you like to do SL photos, so maybe you cna get one before we end for the log
Pila Mulligan: sophia, did you succeed in finding someone in SL from Iran?
    sophia Placebo: nop
Pila Mulligan: hmm, it would have beeninteresting
Nymf Hathaway: I am currently trying to take a snapshot of the circle members...but they seem camera shy :)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Nymf Hathaway: Pity Sophia, I haven't so far either
sophia Placebo: it is , iranians are fun
Pila Mulligan: do you find Iranians you meet still identify with ancient Persia?
sophia Placebo: what do you mean identefiy with ancient persia?
    Pila Mulligan: yes
    sophia Placebo: ?
Pila Mulligan: I've met Iranians now living in the US for some time, and also Parsis from India living here, and they generally seem to take a longer term view of Iranian history
sophia Placebo: well its their history
Pila Mulligan: like Greeks havging a sense of ancient Greece
    Pila Mulligan: yes
sophia Placebo: like arabs and chinese ^^
sophia Placebo: i guess everyone has a history
Pila Mulligan: but I was wondering it the modern day Iranians are equally interested in the old times or are they more caught up in the new Iran
Pila Mulligan: some Chinese seem to be little interested in their older traditions
sophia Placebo: well as it is said here - no past no future -
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: I agree with the saying
sophia Placebo: i dont know about iranians youth but a queik look to the book stores in iran would tell they are intersted in both
sophia Placebo: cant really judge further
Pila Mulligan: I see -- where a culture has thousands of years of history it should be menaingful
    sophia Placebo nods
Nymf Hathaway: thinks about the fact that everyone who goes to africa feels as if they come home
Pila Mulligan: I have heard that too, Nymf
Nymf Hathaway: might be due to the fact human life seems to have started there
Pila Mulligan: something about the depth of the feeling there
Nymf Hathaway: yes...genetics or memory? or both :)
    Nymf Hathaway: lag :(
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Nymf Hathaway: Deepthnker and Arisia are working together on the topic for august :)
Nymf Hathaway: I just had to share that... I like the fact they are working together
Pila Mulligan: what is the topic?
    sophia Placebo: what topic?
Nymf Hathaway: Autism, aspergers and the rainman
Pila Mulligan: like the movie, the Rainman?
    sophia Placebo: that nice movie?
    Nymf Hathaway: yes
Pila Mulligan: that was an good one
Nymf Hathaway: Deep uses it to make the subject more clear
Pila Mulligan: this is for the next Scicence Circle meeting
    Pila Mulligan: when is it?
Nymf Hathaway: this time the second week of august
Nymf Hathaway: tuesday at 11.30 AM slt
    sophia Placebo: ok
    Pila Mulligan: thanks
Pila Mulligan: that's 8:30 am here, a pretty good time for me
Nymf Hathaway: Its hard to please everyone with all these different time zones... PaB is wonderful at that
    Pila Mulligan: true
Pila Mulligan: the world is at your keyboard, but with different time zones
    sophia Placebo nods
    Nymf Hathaway: yes
Pila Mulligan: it is all the more interesting for that, though, when people can meet in SL -- here it is a rainy Sunday morning, while it is later at night where you both are
    sophia Placebo: :)
Nymf Hathaway: yes I like that as well :)
sophia Placebo: do you want to hear a poem ?
    Nymf Hathaway: oh nice Sophia
    Pila Mulligan: yes
sophia Placebo: :) its called ithaca
sophia Placebo: i dont know if you read it befor

sophia Placebo: Ithaca When you start on your journey to Ithaca, then pray that the road is long, full of adventure, full of knowledge. Do not fear the Lestrygonians and the Cyclopes and the angry Poseidon. You will never meet such as these on your path, if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine emotion touches your body and your spirit. You will never meet the Lestrygonians, the Cyclopes and the fierce Poseidon, if you do not carry them within your soul, if your soul does not raise them up before you.
Then pray that the road is long. That the summer mornings are many, that you will enter ports seen for the first time with such pleasure, with such joy! Stop at Phoenician markets, and purchase fine merchandise, mother-of-pearl and corals, amber and ebony, and pleasurable perfumes of all kinds, buy as many pleasurable perfumes as you can; visit hosts of Egyptian cities, to learn and learn from those who have knowledge.
Always keep Ithaca fixed in your mind. To arrive there is your ultimate goal. But do not hurry the voyage at all. It is better to let it last for long years; and even to anchor at the isle when you are old, rich with all that you have gained on the way, not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.
sophia Placebo: Ithaca has given you the beautiful voyage. Without her you would never have taken the road. But she has nothing more to give you. And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not defrauded you. With the great wisdom you have gained, with so much experience, you must surely have understood by then what Ithacas mean.
    K. P. Kavafis (C. P. Cavafy), translation by Rae Dalven

    Nymf Hathaway: Really nice
    sophia Placebo: ^^
    Pila Mulligan: very nice
    Pila Mulligan: enjoy your Odyssey
Pila Mulligan: seems ot eb themessage
    Nymf Hathaway: yes
    sophia Placebo: enjoy your life
Pila Mulligan: I think the same imagery can apply to an internal Odyssey, as well
Pila Mulligan: the one yuo can do at home
    Nymf Hathaway: Hello Eliza :)
    sophia Placebo: hello Eilza
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Nymf, sophia, Pila :)
    Pila Mulligan: hi eliza
sophia Placebo: didnt thought about it that way befor , intersting idea pila
Pila Mulligan: how are you Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: Well thanks, Pila :)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: You?
Pila Mulligan: I'm fine also, thnaks
Nymf Hathaway: Thats the poem Sophia just gave us :)
Nymf Hathaway: Do not mind my avi...she keeps typing :)
Eliza Madrigal: Oh great, one moment...
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah! Thank you
Eliza Madrigal: what a line there 'if your soul does not raise them up before you..'
Pila Mulligan: yes, and that made me think of how it is also a metaphor for an internal journey
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
sophia Placebo: well one ting is great when applying that to internal journey , that is to stop the hast to reach something , at many times we just want to sitlle as fast as possible
    sophia Placebo: yes intersting line
Pila Mulligan: the internal Odyssey we do both at home and while on the road
    Pila Mulligan: contniually
Eliza Madrigal: yes, and 'do not hurry the journey at all'... why do we often want to?
sophia Placebo: i dont know what are my cyclops , i should arise them
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: be careful what you wish for, Sophia :) do you really want to rub the magic lantern?
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
sophia Placebo: hmm if you keep what you fear all the time in the lantern , you wouldnt leave your room
    Pila Mulligan: :)
sophia Placebo: facing the fear by itself will remove much of it
Pila Mulligan: yes, we solve our fears by facing them
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Pila Mulligan: but timing is also important
Pila Mulligan: not to jump into the waters too quickly
sophia Placebo: though the magical lantern has a jinny which fullfill your wishes :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes if you can hear him over the cyclops
sophia Placebo: the cyclops are not my ithaca , so no haste
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Pila Mulligan: does the jinny let you ask as your first wish that oyu be granted ten more wishes?
sophia Placebo: nop thats you and your smartness
    Pila Mulligan: ahh
Pila Mulligan: so that wish cannot be granted

Pila Mulligan: part of the Odyssey seems to be leanring how to obtain and preserve luck or magic
Eliza Madrigal: how to keep the fire burning
sophia Placebo: i dont know , one thousand night and night is a bit diffrent than alladin
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Eliza Madrigal: (and if we listen to ourselves around here, it is by attentively 'not keeping'?)
Pila Mulligan: wiki says: Scheherazade (from Persian: شهرزاده, meaning "townswoman")
Pila Mulligan: she told the tales for 1001 nights to keep herself alive
sophia Placebo: i thought she was the daughter of the minister in the story
Pila Mulligan: yes, she was the king's daughter
    Pila Mulligan: or minister
sophia Placebo: [13:53] Eliza Madrigal: (and if we listen to ourselves around here, it is by attentively 'not keeping'?) < what do you mean Eliza?
sophia Placebo: minister , the king was shahreiar her husband
Eliza Madrigal: Not keeping/catching/trying to hold on tightly to what we are discovering and experiencing I guess
Eliza Madrigal: have been thoughtful about that in particular today so am prob. reading it into everything
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    sophia Placebo: :)
Nymf Hathaway: I think a lot of us are really trying to do that Eliza... life (and its day to day things) get in the way a lot, more than we like I guess
Eliza Madrigal: yes certainly Nymf :)
Pila Mulligan: old chinese saying: what the eyes desire the heart runs after -- the same is true of internal vision
    Pila Mulligan: grasping
sophia Placebo: isnt that about women?
Pila Mulligan: it certainly could be sexual, Sophia, or it could be about new shoes, or a new car or anything that seems appealing or desireable
    Pila Mulligan: or enlightnement
Pila Mulligan: depending no your interests :)
Eliza Madrigal: It is a funny balance, because on the one hand, one wants to embrace discovery with open heart/arms, and on the other, that intensity can drive it away?
Pila Mulligan: balance seems ot tbe the solution
sophia Placebo: a saying goes - not everything that sparkil is gold -
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Pila Mulligan: yes, desires are also dtistrasctions
Eliza Madrigal: At the end I love this 'And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not defrauded you.' in that context. It is our own expectations we wrestle with .. desire
Pila Mulligan: without expectations there can be no disappointments
    Eliza Madrigal: tricky
sophia Placebo: i like it cause it means that your distination would mean nothing if your soul is empty
Nymf Hathaway: but without expectations....no goal?
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, yes
sophia Placebo: what if ithaca was rich , but your journey was poor ?
Pila Mulligan: well, to use the same idea, the soul can become fulfilled wihtout that being life's purpose
    sophia Placebo: true
Pila Mulligan: a cobbler's life is making shoes, and maybe if the cobbler's days are sepnt being good at that task, the end is as spiritually fulfiling as a monk's life
    Eliza Madrigal: absolutely
    Nymf Hathaway: agrees
    sophia Placebo nods
    Eliza Madrigal: that's zen :)
Pila Mulligan: so it alos applies to motorcycle repair :)
sophia Placebo: but thats depend upon the person
Eliza Madrigal: see eternity in working on a motorbike
sophia Placebo: if he didnt rise the cyclops nor enjoy the ports and markets
sophia Placebo: it would be non spritual as some monks
Eliza Madrigal: yes, nice to have adventures too :)
Pila Mulligan: wiki reference for previous comment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zen_and...le_Maintenance
    Nymf Hathaway: :))
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to sit with you all for a while :)
sophia Placebo: good night all , was a nice chat :)
Pila Mulligan: bye Eliza, bye Sophia
    Eliza Madrigal: Night sophia :)
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye thank you two :)
    sophia Placebo: bye !
Eliza Madrigal: There is a topic 'Emergence as God' at Thothica...
    Pila Mulligan: thanks Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: *hugs*
Pila Mulligan: well, so ends the sesssion
    Pila Mulligan: bye Nymf
Nymf Hathaway: Bye Pila, thank you :)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
