    Nymf Hathaway: evening
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Nymf :) How are you?
Nymf Hathaway: Doing well thanks, and you?
Gaya Ethaniel: Good thanks :) Are you GoC for this session?
    Nymf Hathaway: No
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah
Gaya Ethaniel: Do you have anything you want to talk about Nymf?
Nymf Hathaway: Thinking...so far no, nothing special. And you?
    Gaya Ethaniel: :) me neither.
Nymf Hathaway: Eliza :) hello...maybe she has one :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Nymf, Gaya :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Eliza :) How are you?
    Eliza Madrigal: Well thanks, you?
Nymf Hathaway: we are still looking for a subject :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Seems a good place to start..hehe
    Nymf Hathaway: Hello Sharon :)
    Nymf Hathaway: Female gathering :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: HI :))
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi SophiaSharon :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello SophiaSharon :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)

Nymf shows pictures of an sl artist

Nymf Hathaway: I have come across a great artist...let me show you all :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Nymf Hathaway: This isn't an avi...it is made with a program poser
SophiaSharon Larnia: is this a sl artist?
    Eliza Madrigal zooms in
Nymf Hathaway: she makes beautiful things
    Nymf Hathaway: yes sl artist
    Eliza Madrigal: wow, nice
Nymf Hathaway: she makes Greek myths as well, and asian females
    SophiaSharon Larnia: program poser?
Nymf Hathaway: yes it is for design in 3d
Nymf Hathaway: with it she can go around the whole body she designs
    SophiaSharon Larnia: cool
    SophiaSharon Larnia: thank you
Nymf Hathaway: Anyone likes a landmark? it is in the large building where you get in?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: please
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Sure
    Eliza Madrigal: Thank you Nymf
Nymf Hathaway: she just started inworld, made a whole bunch of them last year
    Nymf Hathaway: Pleasure :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: googles program poser ;)
Nymf Hathaway: Good for you :)
Eliza Madrigal: I love those types of curled poses and contrasts...
Nymf Hathaway: oh you will like her gallery than Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: and oddly it reminds me of a photo exhibit I was able to see where the artists photographed mostly bell peppers, but in a way that was elegant and sensual
    Gaya Ethaniel: ty :)
Eliza Madrigal: Forgive me, one artist. I should remember his name but am drawing a blank
Nymf Hathaway: oooh yes she said to me she is doing an exibit indeed...maybe you have seen some of her work :)
Nymf Hathaway: and indeed classical elegance...this was nude but she made wonderful dressed ladies as well
SophiaSharon Larnia: ah not freeware ;p
Eliza Madrigal: These were black and white images... shadow play, so the peppers would look like a back, etc.
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, look forward to seeing more then
Nymf Hathaway: seems poser takes some time to get the hang of it
Eliza Madrigal: Hm, we must all be thoughtful today, or sleepy :)
Gaya Ethaniel: :) and laggy here.
Nymf Hathaway: not sleepy here :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I've never attemppted to make images with the human form
    Nymf Hathaway: why not?
SophiaSharon Larnia: i was wondering the same thing
    Eliza Madrigal: not leaving...
Nymf Hathaway: Good to hear Eliza :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes :)
Nymf Hathaway: the human body is a piece of art on itself
SophiaSharon Larnia: maybe by portraying the human form, you look closer at the human being
    Nymf Hathaway: by itself, sorry
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes it is
Nymf Hathaway: well for example the pic I just showed...it tells so much about the human sitting there...she seems fulnerable for example
SophiaSharon Larnia: its easy to see desire in abstract principles, but harder to see what looks back
    SophiaSharon Larnia: for some
Eliza Madrigal: I lvoe to see work by an artist who is able to key in on a certain feature or aspect which maybe you've never thought of
Eliza Madrigal: this artist compares her skin with other textures... makes you consider
Eliza Madrigal: and yes she does seem vulnerable, and yet... exposure takes strength
Nymf Hathaway: she told me the tattoos on the three paintings in this series is handcrafted...so she really is a great artist
SophiaSharon Larnia: wouldnt take much strength for me, if I looked like that
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wow Nymf
Eliza Madrigal shakes head. I think that may be the difference between putting oneself in the hands/trust of an artist rather than just a person taking a picture
Gaya Ethaniel: Why do you think it's strength Eliza?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Neela
    Neela Blaisdale: Hello everyone;)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Neela :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Neela
    Nymf Hathaway: Hello Neela :)
Neela Blaisdale: what are you looking at?
Nymf Hathaway: art by a new artist
SophiaSharon Larnia: her back is toward the viewer
Eliza Madrigal: Gaya, I'm thinking that it takes inner strength for a model to not cover up. She has to let go of control to the artist
Nymf Hathaway: I lost one by rezzing :(
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh no!!
    Neela Blaisdale: very nice...
Nymf Hathaway: well my parner says...relogging will show it again... I will later
    Nymf Hathaway: partner
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes that's worked for me Nymf
Nymf Hathaway: sl can be strange :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: I can't see it :(
    Nymf Hathaway: Both?
    Gaya Ethaniel thinks ...
Nymf Hathaway: If I am correct there are tow
    Nymf Hathaway: two
Nymf Hathaway: Do we see this as porn?
Eliza Madrigal: yes there are two, and definitely not
Gaya Ethaniel: ah ... I see them now [though still rezzing somewhat] :)
    Nymf Hathaway: Hello Bertam :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: i want to see more :), in these two she doesnt look at the viewer, and empty vessels surround her
Bertram Jacobus: hello all ... :-)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Bertram :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Bertram :)
Nymf Hathaway: let me try to relogg
SophiaSharon Larnia: I can try later
Neela Blaisdale: Hello Bert..nice to meet you
    Bertram Jacobus: ty neela
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bertram! :)
Bertram Jacobus: nice to meet you all to (again) :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Eliza Madrigal: :) Yes you too
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Lia Rikugun: hello sorry i am late
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Lia... nope still not back, I think I need to clear cache, sorry Sharon
    Eliza Madrigal waves to Lia
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Lia
    Neela Blaisdale: Hello Lia
Bertram Jacobus: hello lia ... :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: np!!!!
SophiaSharon Larnia: thank you for the landmark
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Lia :)
Lia Rikugun: (came just back from visiting my aunt and there was some unexpected traffic :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hope it was a nice visit :)
Lia Rikugun: very nice, i saw her again after 4 years!
    Lia Rikugun: shame on me
Eliza Madrigal: :) Great that you went today then!
    Lia Rikugun: yes fdefinitely
    Lia Rikugun: :)
Lia Rikugun: so sorry to interrupt
Lia Rikugun: what were you talking about?
Nymf Hathaway: arts and using the human body for it
SophiaSharon Larnia: Nymf was showing pictures of an artist
Eliza Madrigal should have taken a picture while the artwork was displayed
    Lia Rikugun: ahh
SophiaSharon Larnia: was just thinking that Eliza :)
Lia Rikugun: who is the artist?
Nymf Hathaway: Visit the gallery the artist would be much happier :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes, I intend to do that also...hehe
    Lia Rikugun: thank you!
    Nymf Hathaway: Pleasure :)
Bertram Jacobus: thanks for the lm
    Neela Blaisdale: Thanks Nymph:)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: brb

the line between nudity in artwork and porn

Eliza Madrigal: Funny question that you asked re: the line between nudity in artwork/porn. I suppose that is subjective, but maybe it has to do with a sense of care and dignity...?
    Gaya Ethaniel: ok
Nymf Hathaway: I fully agree...but I was wondering what others thought/felt indeed
Eliza Madrigal: It isn't always about 'beauty' so I can't say that
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah
Neela Blaisdale: maybe has to do with the purpose?
Gaya Ethaniel: I don't see anything on my chat window ... re-logging ... brb
Nymf Hathaway: thinking...the purpose of art in general is to enjoy
    Neela Blaisdale: or the function...
SophiaSharon Larnia: sometimes I felt it was to communicate a message
Bertram Jacobus: nice ideas neela ... i tend to agree ...
Nymf Hathaway: Welcome back Gaya :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes, often to simply evoke
    Gaya Ethaniel: ty :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes :)
Eliza Madrigal: :) Wb Gaya, hope it is clearer now
Gaya Ethaniel: Thanks, I hope so too :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Nymf Hathaway: maybe the eyes in a portrait say everything
Nymf Hathaway: I have a beautiful example in my profile, underneath pictures and button Love
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, very nice :)
Nymf Hathaway: No it is not me
    Lia Rikugun: wow
Nymf Hathaway: but I loved it when I came across it
    Neela Blaisdale: very powerful...
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I like the lion photo also :)
Nymf Hathaway: yes he is sweet :)
Neela Blaisdale: say hi for me! see you later:)
    Neela Blaisdale: whoops
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi for me
    Eliza Madrigal: heheh
    Nymf Hathaway: wrong box :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Yes :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: did you take that pic Nymf?
Nymf Hathaway: The lion? no...I would be famous than I think :)
Bertram Jacobus: i would ask : which purposes and functions could nudity in art have for example ? do you have spontaneous ideas ?
SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles, i meant under the button love
    Nymf Hathaway: Neither :(
    Nymf Hathaway: Good question Bertram...thinking
    SophiaSharon Larnia: beauty of creation
Nymf Hathaway: Looking at the art I just showed... it gives me a vulnerable feeling....
    Nymf Hathaway: Pure
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
    Bertram Jacobus: mmhh ...
Bertram Jacobus: i mean - yes, i see. nice answers ...
Eliza Madrigal: clothing wouldn't make sense in that picture perhaps
Nymf Hathaway: Nice answer Eliza... I would agree
    Bertram Jacobus: me too
Gaya Ethaniel: Probably would prevent a viewer to appreciate the shapes of things depicted.
Bertram Jacobus: but i find it quite difficult, to discuss contrary standpoints ...
Neela Blaisdale: well the tatoos seemed to be a sort of clothing...
Gaya Ethaniel: [if the model was clothed]
Bertram Jacobus: which are not mainstream
Nymf Hathaway: This artist made wonderful elegant clothed females by the way :)
Bertram Jacobus: as perhaps for example :
    Eliza Madrigal: true, Neela

less is more at the example of Eggleton

Bertram Jacobus: very often i get a feeling like to much luxury when i see art ...
    Nymf Hathaway: less is more!
    Nymf Hathaway: Luxury I mean
SophiaSharon Larnia: many ordinary things are art
    Eliza Madrigal: Yes!
Gaya Ethaniel: mhm :) think of Eggleston for example.
Bertram Jacobus: yes. that leads to the idea, that the point of view may be very important again
Eliza Madrigal: like the peppers. One just sometimes needs a pointer to look in another way
    Eliza Madrigal: yes :))
    SophiaSharon Larnia: (oh dear)
Bertram Jacobus: found this from eggleston : http://www.cameraposition.com/podcast/images/CP42/eggleston_woman_on_swing.jpg :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
    Lia Rikugun: hehe
    Lia Rikugun: cool coach
    Nymf Hathaway: Great :)
    Bertram Jacobus: laughs :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yea Lia
    Lia Rikugun: suits the dress
    Lia Rikugun: :)
Eliza Madrigal nods... like that much
    SophiaSharon Larnia: giggles
    Nymf Hathaway: yes :)

    the beauty in everyday life

Gaya Ethaniel: Portraits are 'rare' in his work [he does wonderfully], the majority some people call 'banal' though I wouldn't go that far.
SophiaSharon Larnia: most of life is banality
SophiaSharon Larnia: at least in everyday
Nymf Hathaway: I would call it reality
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: Once, I felt frustrated with the disorganization in my house, so I went around and took black and white pictures of the insides of closets, drawers, etc
Gaya Ethaniel: A lot of beauty in everyday ... if not dismissed quickly.
Nymf Hathaway: When will we finally see the beauty of this fragile lady?
    Eliza Madrigal: Indeed
Gaya Ethaniel: That sounds like a fun Eliza :)
Nymf Hathaway: yes how was that Eliza?
SophiaSharon Larnia: i think shes cute
Eliza Madrigal: It was a fantastic thing. The photos themselves I just love.:)
Nymf Hathaway: Black and whites are the best
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Neela Blaisdale: aren't most of Eggleston's photos staged?
Neela Blaisdale: which is interesting because they are usually about everyday things?
Gaya Ethaniel: hm ... don't think so. Some protraits are ie some shots involving his children, otherwise, he just goes around and take whatever he finds it interesting in his neighbourhood.
Bertram Jacobus: i didn´t know him, at least not very well until now. i only followed gayas hint ...
Gaya Ethaniel: I need to go to another meeting. Nice seeing you all again :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Gaya :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Enjoy your day/night :)
    Lia Rikugun: bye gaya
    Neela Blaisdale: bye Gaya
Nymf Hathaway: Didn't know him either...but the fact he sees art in an old lady (which is seen in general as ugli) proves to me he likes to shoot reality
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Bye Gaya
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye Gaya :)
Bertram Jacobus: okay. have a good time gaya (too l8) ... ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: Even in abstract art, often what you are seeing is just the way the artist sees... what draws them in
    Nymf Hathaway: agrees
SophiaSharon Larnia: I like to shoot reality, and even then I pick out what I think is'beautiful' in other people's eyes, I havent had a sense of breaking through a barrier
Bertram Jacobus: i am happy to have some photographers as friends . and they too make very nice portrait shots beside other photos . i feel that´s a very great talent !
    Nymf Hathaway: agrees with Bertam
    Eliza Madrigal: yes, agree Bertram
Nymf Hathaway: Sharon... I am very interested...do you have exmples of your work?
SophiaSharon Larnia: not in one place, ive been meaning to get to that
Lia Rikugun: sorry I will leave you to go to bed (long day..) :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: in fact will do so
    Neela Blaisdale: Night Lia
Lia Rikugun: have a good day
SophiaSharon Larnia: and get back to you
Eliza Madrigal: I need to get going. I cannot wait until we get to see your work SophiaSharon :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Bye Lia
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye lia! :)
    Neela Blaisdale: Bye Eliza
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Bye Eliza
Bertram Jacobus: have a nice nite lia ! nice dreams and a recreative sleep
Nymf Hathaway: Please keep me informed Sharon
Neela Blaisdale: Me too, bye everyone have agood day:)
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks so much everyone :) Nice talk today :))
Nymf Hathaway: Have a nice evening everyone :)
Bertram Jacobus: ups. too late again lol
    Bertram Jacobus: bye neela
    Eliza Madrigal: You too :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I am ridiculously self conscious about it
    Bertram Jacobus: and eliza :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Bye Neela
Nymf Hathaway: Oke... will relog again with a cache clearing :)
    Bertram Jacobus: okay nymf
SophiaSharon Larnia: she meant now ;p
Bertram Jacobus: may i still ask sophia ? self conciousnessed about what please ?
Bertram Jacobus: may be i came too late today ...
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh no, you didn't :))
SophiaSharon Larnia: I feel that my pictures are mundane
SophiaSharon Larnia: wb Nymf! I didnt know you meant now
SophiaSharon Larnia: I am always reaching for something and am not satisfied
Nymf Hathaway: well yes I lost a wonderful painting :)
Bertram Jacobus: that was really fast for cache clearing nymf ! :-)
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh noo I'm sorry
SophiaSharon Larnia: and auto return is set to off
    Bertram Jacobus: i see sophia
Nymf Hathaway: yes it is really gone :(
SophiaSharon Larnia: that is not healthy I knw
Nymf Hathaway: Oke I need to go... I will make a friend happy with they other two :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: but its like if i try hard enough, one day ill be able to capture it somehow
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Nymf
SophiaSharon Larnia: maybe when stop trying
Bertram Jacobus: oh. but we can´t change habits from one second to the other . nice when we see already that we could change the one or the other habit - i speak from my own experience here ...
    SophiaSharon Larnia: youre right
SophiaSharon Larnia: now that you here, I do have a question that I wanted to ask you
Bertram Jacobus: yes, please ! :-)

can it be painful or heavy to do these explorations?

SophiaSharon Larnia: I read the logs, and you mentioned that it becomes painful for you to undergo these types of explorations
Bertram Jacobus: sometimes. yes. but even more heavy sometimes to practise all these methods
SophiaSharon Larnia: i think it was in the "if" koan log
Bertram Jacobus: may be the second one, yes
SophiaSharon Larnia: because i recognise that
SophiaSharon Larnia: why do you think this is?
Bertram Jacobus: and what is the question about that ? :-) - ah ! - hmmm :
Bertram Jacobus: there are some ways to react to that -
    SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Wol!
    Wol Euler: hello sophia, bertram
Wol Euler: welcome to the club, B
Bertram Jacobus: first i have impressions like devils react to holy water -
SophiaSharon Larnia: I have seen that youve been back, buttt welcome back!
Wol Euler: ah, now I know who you are! we met a few days ago
SophiaSharon Larnia: (most everyone just left Wol)
    Bertram Jacobus: hello wol ! ... :-) - and ty ... :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Wol Euler: thank you Sophia :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: and we may have changed the subject ;p
Bertram Jacobus: and i think, that are bad aspects in me perhaps sophia, but i´m "absolutely" not sure about that . i simply experience it ...
Wol Euler: ah, well I will head off home then :)
    Wol Euler: goodnight, take care.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: take care Wol
    Bertram Jacobus: oh. goodnight wol
SophiaSharon Larnia: we all do Bertram
Bertram Jacobus: ups - we could have changed the topic again for her ... hm -
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
Bertram Jacobus: but more important to me seems to be the aspect, that i CAN change it, very slowly through exercising again and again
Bertram Jacobus: that is the way i try to handle this, to develop ...
SophiaSharon Larnia: i understand what your saying
Bertram Jacobus: which topic was it before here ? the body topic already ?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: umm art maybe
Bertram Jacobus: nice. i have anyway the feeling, people here understand each other may be a bit more than usual ?
SophiaSharon Larnia: I got that impression too, but we are very different :)
Bertram Jacobus: that´s normal i think
Bertram Jacobus: especially in this very individualised society
SophiaSharon Larnia: like we can talk about the nature of reality, like we can talk about the weather
Bertram Jacobus: sometimes even may be over individualised ;-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
SophiaSharon Larnia: i dont think this has to be a bad thing
    Bertram Jacobus: "this" ? :-)
SophiaSharon Larnia: being individualized (still on recorder so get self conscious about saying certain things) laughs
Bertram Jacobus: ah okay ! lol - no, yes, you´re right with that i guess
Bertram Jacobus: i so often remind the from buddha taught "middle path" - also regarding to this topic for example ...
Bertram Jacobus: sometimes i even have the impression, this hint alone could be enough for the whole relative world and life (!) ... :-)
SophiaSharon Larnia: the hint being individuality?
SophiaSharon Larnia: I think we come to experience physicality precisely to be individuals
Bertram Jacobus: no. i meant the middle path as this hint
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ah
