The Guardian for this meeting was sophia Placebo. The comments are by sophia Placebo.

I arrived late ,Mick and Bert had a short chat about  the 90 seconds tricky moments

    Bertram Jacobus: hey mickorod ! ... :-)
    Mickorod Renard: Hiya bertram
    --BELL--
    Mickorod Renard: how are you?
Mickorod Renard: I wonder who will turn up today?
Bertram Jacobus: nice to see you again - how are you today ? ... :-)
Bertram Jacobus: (sorry, i heard the bell) ... :-)
Mickorod Renard: I am great thanks
Bertram Jacobus: and a topic could be, how we can behave when the bell rings and an action nevertheless seems to be ... more compassionating than keeping the silence (?!) ... :-)
Mickorod Renard: yes, I often get stuck in those moments,a question is hung and it seems appropriate to respond during the silent period
    Mickorod Renard: tricky
    Bertram Jacobus: nods
Bertram Jacobus: or when a new person is here and one "should" say hello or something ...
Mickorod Renard: he he , yes..I am sure flexibility is ok under odd circumstances
Mickorod Renard: we only have ourselves to police anyway
Bertram Jacobus: i think you are right and i notice : i myself would prefer to keep the silence (!)
Bertram Jacobus: but in relations to others it often seems to be better to give a short message or answer ...
Bertram Jacobus: hello eos ... :-)
Mickorod Renard: yes, we have tried various methods, like attaching a message to the fountain to remind newcomers of the protocol
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Eos
Bertram Jacobus: oh. i see. no new topic - sry ... ;-)
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Mick, Bert :-)
Mickorod Renard: Well, I think it will always be a topic as people new come and go
Bertram Jacobus: okay. this may be one of the challenges of such communities : the willingness to repeat some topice again and again ? "for the benefit of all beings" ? ... :-)
    Bertram Jacobus: topics*
Eos Amaterasu: we have to repeat those anyway throughout the moments of our lives, neh?
Mickorod Renard: I slip up occasionally due to being a poor typer, I look at my keyboard and dont see when it drops into the silent period
Bertram Jacobus: oh yes. you are right eos ! (nice association) ! ... ty
Mickorod Renard: I guess even the purpose of the silent period is in a form a reminder to take note of reality
    Eos Amaterasu: let relity speak
Bertram Jacobus: hello sophia ... :-)
    Eos Amaterasu: *reality
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Sophia
sophia Placebo: Hi Bert Mick Eos
Eos Amaterasu: OMG, I didn't recognize you :-)
Eos Amaterasu sees a bunny with a pink jacket
Mickorod Renard: Lol Sophia,,u have gone animated again
    sophia Placebo: too short
    sophia Placebo: yes
Bertram Jacobus: nice bunny ... :-)
    sophia Placebo: ty
sophia Placebo: how are you all?
Mickorod Renard: I am great thanks sophia,,how are you ?
Bertram Jacobus: ty. i´m fine. but that is only the relative area ... ;-)
Mickorod Renard: is it still very hot for you?
sophia Placebo: very very very hot
Bertram Jacobus: uh. where is that sophia ?
Mickorod Renard: raining here,,day after day
sophia Placebo: im good bert ty
    sophia Placebo: arabia desert
sophia Placebo: we are dried up here mick
Bertram Jacobus: uh. i see. but you will have lots of airconditioners then sophai ...
    Bertram Jacobus: sophia* sry
    --BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: Pretty cloudy, foggy rainey, for most of the summer here in Nova Scotia, temp 20
sophia Placebo: yes air conditioners and fans

    Water Demands of Middle East

Mickorod Renard: I saw in the science journal that many area's in the middle east that had the fortune of water will see hardships increase,,like around the euphrates for example,,and even israel/Jordan
    Mickorod Renard: oops
    sophia Placebo: true
Mickorod Renard: missed the silent period
sophia Placebo: almost all are dried up
    Mickorod Renard: naughty me
Mickorod Renard: how do you think they will circumnavigate this problem Sophia?
    sophia Placebo: fight !
    Mickorod Renard: get around it*
    sophia Placebo: jocking
    Mickorod Renard: I hope not
    Mickorod Renard: joking*
    Mickorod Renard: he he
Eos Amaterasu almost never hears the starting bell... .... just the ending bell
sophia Placebo: i dont know , they do now some diplomatic work and some contracts with each other to face it togather
    Eos Amaterasu: good idea
sophia Placebo: but i dont know about the long term
Mickorod Renard: yes,,which direction would a good sourse of water come from do you think?
    Mickorod Renard: via Iranian mountains?
sophia Placebo: thats too way far
Eos Amaterasu: I would think from the south
    Mickorod Renard: ohh?
sophia Placebo: they are cooperating now with turkey
    Mickorod Renard: good idea
Bertram Jacobus: not also from the sea ? desalinated ?
    Mickorod Renard: yuk
sophia Placebo: my city now is using the sea water
sophia Placebo: we used to be oasis
    Mickorod Renard: yes
sophia Placebo: but water resources were not properly managed
Eos Amaterasu: Utlimately the source is a cycle
sophia Placebo: there is lots of water down the earth i heard once
sophia Placebo: i dont know what you call it
Mickorod Renard: I think new technologies are on the verge in respect to desalination
    Eos Amaterasu: "aquifer?"
Bertram Jacobus: i thought about that too eos ... *smile shy a bit* ...
Bertram Jacobus: in some areas they also get the water from the winds, out of the air, especially in the nights ... with huge nets ...
Eos Amaterasu: Cool - maybe literally :-)
Mickorod Renard: I know that is an army method of survival too
Eos Amaterasu: leaves are such nets
    Mickorod Renard: polythene sheeting
sophia Placebo: i dont know maybe , the water that make us oasis comes from down earth ,sweet waterr not salty
    Mickorod Renard: and condensation
    Mickorod Renard: nice
Eos Amaterasu: the sweet water also needs to be revived
sophia Placebo: they should here invent something that gets the water from the 100% humidity
Mickorod Renard: in what way Eos?
    Eos Amaterasu: trees!
Eos Amaterasu: i suppose aquifers come into being thru very long term cycles
Bertram Jacobus: trees ? what should or could they "do" please ? :-)

    Man made climate change

Mickorod Renard: I saw that some climates. desert, are caused through deforestation of coastal regions
Eos Amaterasu: using biology to help us, live with, seems like good idea, so look to living form both for biomimicry ant to actually use
    Eos Amaterasu: *and *forms
Mickorod Renard: by reforestation of coastal areas there may be a method of attracting moisture from the sea to drop over the land
Mickorod Renard: thus starting a regeneration of livable land
sophia Placebo: yeah our city was going through random crazy modernization ,now alomst no farms here
Eos Amaterasu: i think see and "grokking" such problems is not removed from what we're cultivating here, PaB
sophia Placebo: it is getting hotter and hotter
sophia Placebo: this year we lost even humidity
sophia Placebo: we got sand storms instead which were unsual for our area
Eos Amaterasu: any local projects for next number of years?
    Eos Amaterasu: projections
    sophia Placebo: lol no!
sophia Placebo: they count how many money they can get
sophia Placebo: eat the flesh and leave the bone
Mickorod Renard: that seems to be the way of the world
    --BELL--
    Mickorod Renard: shhh
Eos Amaterasu: it is so amazing to share this moment with friends around the world
    Bertram Jacobus: yes. i agree
Mickorod Renard: I am struggling to get excited by it,,which is a shame because I would like to
sophia Placebo: invironmt activists though are trying to protect what remain from the natural resources from greedy poeple
Eos Amaterasu: we are probably about to enter several generations of climate-induced (human-induced) pain

    No Time for Pessimism

Bertram Jacobus: do you know the film "home" ? it can be watched at youtube i think. it´s new and shows the actual situation of the world and mankind. huge problems. and at the end they show some solutions. and a sentence amongst others appears sometimes : "there is no time left for pessimism". i like that very much ...
Eos Amaterasu: "not time left for pessimism"
Mickorod Renard: yes,,I aggree, but I get the feeling the masses are not going to get on board with the issues whole heartedly until they see the rich making an effort personaly
Eos Amaterasu: maybe "greed leads to good" came about because religion is no longer trusted to lead to good
Bertram Jacobus: but i think it´s very important, that everybody starts to think and act in a good way and solution - orientated. when even we don´t do and try that, who else should do that then ?
Eos Amaterasu: so we need a secular way to approach the world as special, as family, as sacred
sophia Placebo: here who are moving are the farmers and the fishers whos resources that they were living on were destroied

    Localization

Eos Amaterasu: local control, by local populations, of local resources seems like a good pattern
    Bertram Jacobus: yes
Mickorod Renard: here I get the feeling that some think the whole scare is generated by the rich wanting to squeeze more out of the poor
sophia Placebo: thats anarchists view no
sophia Placebo: true here too mick
Bertram Jacobus: hello arabella ... :-)
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Ara!
    arabella Ella: Hiya!
Bertram Jacobus: what did you mean with "anarchists view" please sophia ? what especially ?
Mickorod Renard: I know I may sound a bit commy,,but I am just feeling like everyone is waiting for a more positive indication that those in power are being honest
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Ara
arabella Ella: Hiya Mick sophia Bert Eos!
arabella Ella: A famous saying goes: 'you can count those in power who are honest on the fingers of one hand ... and you will not need all five'
    sophia Placebo: hi ara
Eos Amaterasu: those in power will not willingly give it up
    Mickorod Renard: he he he

    Fight for your right

Bertram Jacobus: i think, we all have some power. and more then ever via the internet (!) . i just made the experience that we got some money back which was nearly lost through the financial crisis . but we came together in the net , fighted 9 month - and now we have our mone y back (!) ...
Bertram Jacobus: that was a very great experience
arabella Ella: (sorry i made that up right now but it is what i believe)
    Mickorod Renard: nice one Bertram
sophia Placebo: oh bert , one anarchist person i met said the same veiw -local mangemnet of resources-
Mickorod Renard: that sounded almost biblical Ara
Bertram Jacobus: ah. ty sophia :-)

    Zeitgesie !

arabella Ella: maybe it is an effect of having watched Zeitgesie the Addendum Movie recently
Bertram Jacobus: we were about 3000 people and got back 308 mio. euros ...
Bertram Jacobus: for more than 31. 000 people ...
    sophia Placebo: aowsome!
Bertram Jacobus: that was phantastic and makes hope that more is possible
sophia Placebo: you must fought tough
Mickorod Renard: Its funny how we the masses are expected to cut back on our privilages etc and pay out the nose for electricity and gas, when those with money still burn up the resourses with little regard
Bertram Jacobus: the internet is a really new chance i think
arabella Ella: may i ask for brief background Bert ... apologies for being late :)
Bertram Jacobus: but it´s still hard work to do
Eos Amaterasu: it's partly that they made their money through such outlook
sophia Placebo: as it said here , no right is lost as long there is someone running after it
Eos Amaterasu: anti-pattern: "greed is good"
Bertram Jacobus: i did not mention it before ara. it´s just a story which fits to the topic "how can we fight" or "what can we do" - the topic related to this was here the problems with water and climate ...
Eos Amaterasu: life-pattern: making livelihood locally is good
arabella Ella: yes ty i see Bert
    Bertram Jacobus: :-)
    --BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: the bottom line is Being
sophia Placebo: i just remmbered that there is a group named local gov study group
Bertram Jacobus: yes. was already mentioned, that already maharishi mahesh yogi called that so in the early 70ies ? ... :o))
sophia Placebo: in sl but i never heard of them untill now
Mickorod Renard: wow,,i must look them up
    arabella Ella: :)
sophia Placebo: they had no activity since i joined them though
sophia Placebo: but it was intersting idea that there are poeple who like to study that
Eos Amaterasu: there is radical work being done these days on how communities, individuals, groups self-organize and act intentionally (share Being)

    Power of Cyber Space

Mickorod Renard: mmm,,some are groups just for the sake of being a group
arabella Ella: i was involved in a group with a student doing her research on SL
arabella Ella: and it was about using ICT in education
arabella Ella: but the task she gave us was related to the perils of globalisation
arabella Ella: and as you know learning happens at different levels
arabella Ella: so we all learnt a lot about the topic of sustainability etc
Bertram Jacobus: what is that, ICT, please ?
    arabella Ella: oh
arabella Ella: information and communications technology
    Bertram Jacobus: ty :-)
    arabella Ella: computers internet etc
Eos Amaterasu: Accredited SL University arrives... very soon?
Bertram Jacobus: in germany we call it simply IT may be ... hm -
arabella Ella: the power for collective intelligence that the internet affords and how powerful ppl (not politicians) use manipulate power is all part of the Zeitgeist Addendum movie free on the net
arabella Ella: what do you mean Eos?
Eos Amaterasu sees a small rocket go by
    Mickorod Renard: lol
    Mickorod Renard: in rl?
Eos Amaterasu: By accredied SL unviersity? That you will be able to choose to atten a Second Life university, with global/SL campus, for credit
arabella Ella: oh Eos there is a lot of that happening exploratory for now
    arabella Ella: for example
    sophia Placebo: paying with lindens?
arabella Ella: have you heard of the Open Habitat group?
arabella Ella: it was put together by two UK unis, one Oxford, and they explored using SL for education
Eos Amaterasu: Yes. There is a lot happening now in that direction... we are part of that (Kira, PaB)
    sophia Placebo: open habitat ?
arabella Ella: and they now have a website as project finished but results and recommendations are on line
arabella Ella: but Open Habitat is still being used even by a RL philo to hold philosophy classes
sophia Placebo: i thought it is linked to thothica
arabella Ella: so other SL residents have now taken over Open Habitat
arabella Ella: they are the same ppl sophia in OH and thotica
    sophia Placebo: ok
Eos Amaterasu: RL philo, SL philo :-) :-)
arabella Ella: RL philo VIA sl
arabella Ella: similar to what Gilles does here too
    arabella Ella: but
arabella Ella: in the official project report
arabella Ella: they suggest using SL for open modules
Eos Amaterasu: working with our planet is mainly working with our memes.... it's deep philosophy :-)
arabella Ella: for ppl who may not be able to attend a whole uni course
    arabella Ella: :)
    arabella Ella nods to Eos
    Mickorod Renard: memes..interesting
Eos Amaterasu: globalization amplifies memes and blankets the earth with them
Mickorod Renard: yes,,and technology will turn the planet into the next mutation of life
arabella Ella: memes are also being used in organisations for management to spread values and organisational culture
    --BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: I think the idea that you can pause periodically.... is a powerful meme
    Mickorod Renard: sh
    Mickorod Renard: ;-)
    arabella Ella: brb phone
Bertram Jacobus: sorry - i "have to leave" : my brain is like completly filled , can´t get more into it like it seems at this moment. ty all and have a nice time - and - may all beings be happy please ! ...
    Bertram Jacobus: ;-)
    Eos Amaterasu: ^)^
sophia Placebo: bye bert take care
    Eos Amaterasu: *^_^
Bertram Jacobus: ty all. appreciate all here
    Mickorod Renard: bye bert
Mickorod Renard: lol,,was i too late
Mickorod Renard: Bert seems like a nice guy
    sophia Placebo: ^^ yes
sophia Placebo: only the nice poeple would tolerate pab

How to be a good kid to our mother earth?

Mickorod Renard: Well, i dont know what we are going to do about the mess we have made of the world
sophia Placebo: designed specially for them
    Mickorod Renard: yes sophia
    Mickorod Renard: he he
sophia Placebo: i have done no mess myself , except for buying too much so i need to have lots of plastic bags
Mickorod Renard: when I look at all the scientific stuff on how unique the world is,,and how special,,its bizzare that we should spoil it so much
sophia Placebo: well it is hard
    sophia Placebo: to correct
    sophia Placebo: or to change
Eos Amaterasu: we don't see the full life cycles and results of our actions
    Mickorod Renard: yes
    sophia Placebo: abrubtly
Eos Amaterasu: it will take generations
    Eos Amaterasu: proably painful ones
sophia Placebo: green thing should go in poeple life style
Mickorod Renard: and we do need good leadership to get onto the right path
sophia Placebo: and the new technologies are already seeking green solutions
    arabella Ella: back
    arabella Ella: apologies
sophia Placebo: but one cant ask poeple to stop all their activities at once nor to look for an air conditioner in the desert
Eos Amaterasu: it is leadership that guides the technologies
sophia Placebo: not to look *
arabella Ella: but the internet helps us to spread info that otherwise would remain silent
arabella Ella: cos the powers that be dont wish it to be spread
arabella Ella: but they cant stop the info flow on the web
Eos Amaterasu: it also spreads mcglobalization
    arabella Ella: unfortunately yes Eos
Mickorod Renard: its funny how much of our new technologies are created from military requirements
arabella Ella: there is the pro and con for everything
sophia Placebo: many leadershipss are guieded by economy and demand , if there was no so many buzz about it by scientist and poeple they wouldnt care much
Eos Amaterasu: the internet itself, to a large extent
Mickorod Renard: military rather than environmental
    arabella Ella: but sophia remember
arabella Ella: it is not the politicians who have power
arabella Ella: politicians are controlled by those who finance them and those who finance the economy of their region
Mickorod Renard: I think the end resolve will be based on something like what you joked about at irst Sophia
sophia Placebo: they can put me in dugeons
arabella Ella: it is the leaders of multinationals who finance politicians and regions and who rule the world today
    Mickorod Renard: First*
arabella Ella: as they control whole economies
Eos Amaterasu: as Obama is discovering (or maybe he isn't :-(
    arabella Ella: exactly Eos
sophia Placebo: dungeons wont make another sophia though
Mickorod Renard: When we are at each others throats,,fighting for our lives,,maybe then something will sort it all out
arabella Ella: we all hoped Obama had the power to change
arabella Ella: but his hands are often tied
    arabella Ella: one example
arabella Ella: what would it take to give the whole global population clean water?
arabella Ella: only a small percentage of the US military budget
    Mickorod Renard: yea
arabella Ella: what would it take to give basic health education to all?
Eos Amaterasu: but technology, infrastructure is not the whole answer
arabella Ella: a small percentage of the Vatican's riches
Eos Amaterasu: our own life cycles are part of that
    Eos Amaterasu: how we be
arabella Ella: or a small percentage of global oil revenue
Mickorod Renard: the uk is in deep financial trouble,,yet it is the thrird biggest spender on military hardware in the world
arabella Ella: what is the answer then Eos?
arabella Ella: if infrastructure is not the answer?
Eos Amaterasu: we humans drive the infrastructure
arabella Ella: do we? surely not as individuals?
Eos Amaterasu: which is not a static edifice, buy made up of our processes
arabella Ella: what about when the infrastructure is destroyed as a result of warfare?
    arabella Ella: or military invasion?
Eos Amaterasu: we "choose" the leaders, and "choose" to buy stuff to enrich ourselves and others
Mickorod Renard: then there will be profit in re building
    --BELL--
arabella Ella: but Eos ... do the 'masses' really have a choice? to buy or not to buy? or are their mindsets not controlled by media which in turn is controlled by those in power who propagate what they wish to spin and to generate increased profits for themselves and line their own pockets?
arabella Ella: and i feel they further capitalise on what is known as the herd mentality
Eos Amaterasu: To the extent that we wake up to our individual roles in hat pattern, we have the power to change those roles
    arabella Ella: yes ... individually
Eos Amaterasu: shedding light can do a lot
arabella Ella: but only those of us who cherish the value of free thought and free speech
arabella Ella: and who have a social conscience
Eos Amaterasu: The Bill Moyers show on PBS is a good example

Sleepy cattle ?! How to wake up ?

Eos Amaterasu: we are asleep until we wake up - how do we wake up?
arabella Ella: fraid i dont know that show
arabella Ella: we dont get it here
    sophia Placebo: by a slap
Mickorod Renard: we wake up when we follow our leaders on the path
    Eos Amaterasu: http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/index-flash.html
Mickorod Renard: after all, we need to be a combined force to sort it out
arabella Ella: we wake up when we go beyond the education that is given to us and learn to think for ourselves and judge for ourselves
arabella Ella: thanks for the URL i see they have podcasts there too cool
sophia Placebo: you still need a slap
Mickorod Renard: then the nett will provide us with a collective voice then,,as Bertram said
Eos Amaterasu: the slaps are coming :-)
sophia Placebo: like losing your job and money to think to reform the economy system
arabella Ella: i hope they are
Mickorod Renard: must get my leather pants on
    arabella Ella: :)
Eos Amaterasu: but we need to prepare the ground for how to take them, interpret them
    arabella Ella nods
    sophia Placebo: on face mick
    Mickorod Renard: ohh shame
    Eos Amaterasu: mask
    sophia Placebo: lol
    Mickorod Renard: he he
arabella Ella: i am sure you get your leather pants on often enough Mick each time you use your bike :)
    arabella Ella: (most times)

    Nudity is part of solution

Eos Amaterasu: we wear protective outfits - that's part of the problem
Mickorod Renard: we must create a flag for the comming revolution
    Eos Amaterasu: go naked :-)
    arabella Ella: :)
arabella Ella: (sounds good to me)
    sophia Placebo: lol
Mickorod Renard: naked is good,,it allows clarity
arabella Ella: (with the heat here especially)
sophia Placebo: we would be steaks here
    arabella Ella smiles
    arabella Ella: here too
Eos Amaterasu: re how we get socialized: http://memer.com/blog/?p=4
Mickorod Renard: u need lots of sun screen lotion
    sophia Placebo: no use mick
    Mickorod Renard: ;-(
sophia Placebo: the water of your head would evapourate , and your concentation ability would deminsh
Mickorod Renard: how we get socialized sound like how we get hypnotized
arabella Ella: thanks Eos sounds a bit like the famous Bandura research
arabella Ella: and the Nazi prison experiment too
sophia Placebo: you would shout and yell at everything , then you would got sun stroke
    Mickorod Renard: he he he
arabella Ella: we do that here sophia ... i know what u mean ... a common occurance
Eos Amaterasu: so that doesn't really work, to go naked and shout :-)
sophia Placebo: maybe in winter :)
Mickorod Renard: the celts used to,,with just some blue paint
sophia Placebo: yes ara sun power
Mickorod Renard: all rain power here
arabella Ella: yes makes us lazy and noisy and sometimes violent here
arabella Ella: less productivity in summer when many people officially only work mornings
Eos Amaterasu: nakedness is being vulnerable, which media-bath screens us from
    arabella Ella nods
    Eos Amaterasu: we get insensitive
Eos Amaterasu: such sensitivity needs to reach the corridors of power
sophia Placebo: we work indoors mostly , if poeple would reduce their productivity due heat we would work something like less than half the year
Eos Amaterasu: I think Obama has such sensitivity, but he needs to join that with power, which is very difficult
    sophia Placebo: yay !
    --BELL--
arabella Ella: well the main question is ... who finances Obama
arabella Ella: and who are the ppl who surround him and give him advice?
Mickorod Renard: in the behind the scenes of any government are the controlling powers
arabella Ella: on his own ... difficult
    Eos Amaterasu thinks
    Mickorod Renard: the admistration etc
arabella Ella: who is the puppet of whom?
arabella Ella: oh sorry ... shhhh
Mickorod Renard: obama will be a puppet
sophia Placebo: rockifellar financed obama and obama is paying back no ?
    Mickorod Renard: oops
sophia Placebo: or at least thats what the consiparcy theory say
arabella Ella: sophia i must leave soon but i would like to ask you a language question please?
Eos Amaterasu: Just looking at who's in his economic cabinet is enought
    sophia Placebo: sure ara
arabella Ella: what word do you use to say help?
Mickorod Renard: well,,I am sure there is something in that,,or similar at least
sophia Placebo: help the verb or the noun?
arabella Ella: if you are in danger and say 'Help!'
arabella Ella: or perhaps both the verb and noun?
arabella Ella: my dad asked me the question
arabella Ella: and i told him i would ask you
    arabella Ella: :)
sophia Placebo: oh you can say annajda or sa'edooni
    arabella Ella: oh
    arabella Ella: we say ghajnuna
arabella Ella: similar to your annajda
