Moon Fargis: good morning :)
Fael Illyar: Hi Moon :) Good morning.
--BELL--
Fael Illyar: I found myself up just in time so here I am :)
Moon Fargis: :))
Moon Fargis: well who knows but could be this will a a quiet session
Fael Illyar smiles 'Yes, very possible.'
Fael Illyar: I got an interesting notecard during the night from Eliza :)
Moon Fargis: ohooo?
Fael Illyar: Hi Bert :)
Moon Fargis: morning bert!
Bertram Jacobus: hi fael and moon :-)
Moon Fargis: nice notecard fael
Fael Illyar: Yes, it's an interesting difference it draws between guilt and regret. Although, I never thought regret that way.
Bertram Jacobus: could you describe in own words which "kind of regret" that is ? :-)
Bertram Jacobus: and ty for the card :-9
Fael Illyar: it's a short notecard :)
Bertram Jacobus: ok *laughs* :-)
Fael Illyar: but I'll paste it in here for the log
Fael Illyar: The difference between guilt and regret is that the guilt never
faces the wrongdoing straightforwardly. There's just this strong
emotion of "I wish it hadn't happened. I wish I hadn't done it. I wish
I had never gotten angry." Or, "I wish I hadn't done that embarrassing
thing," and so on. Regret is the opposite of guilt. We acknowledge it,
we expose to ourselves that we have done something harmful, and how it
came about from our ignorance, but we don't get caught in emotions or
story lines. Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, Tricycle, Winter 2004
Bertram Jacobus: nice difference , very good
Fael Illyar: It's quite eye opening to find more words other people understand differently :)
Fael Illyar: especially this central words to human life.
Bertram Jacobus: and it´s like a difference between christian and buddhistic way of acting with that ...
Moon Fargis: :)
Fael Illyar: hmmh... there is some point there :)
Moon Fargis: ˙·•| mmh *nods* |•·˙
Fael Illyar: Even though, Christian idea of confession seems to be aimed at having people Regret instead of just feeling guilty.
Fael Illyar: Hi Nymf, Pila :)
Moon Fargis: hi nymf and pila!
Bertram Jacobus: hello nymf and pila ... :-)
Nymf Hathaway: Hello everyone :)
Pila Mulligan: hi Fael, Moon and Bertram
Pila Mulligan: and Nymf again
Pila Mulligan: nice naturla look here
Pila Mulligan: natrual*
Fael Illyar: it's Moon's portable garden :)
Nymf Hathaway: :))
Moon Fargis: were talking about the difference between regret and guilt atm ^^
Pila Mulligan: ahh, thanks
Nymf Hathaway: Nice topic
Pila Mulligan: nie distinction
Fael Illyar: Hi Qt :)
Bertram Jacobus: hello qt :-)
Fael Illyar: (This doesn't look like silent meeting anymore, Moon)
Pila Mulligan: hi Qt
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Qt :)
Moon Fargis: hi Qt
Moon Fargis: ^^
Pila Mulligan: topic: the difference between regret and guilt
Moon Fargis: everyone got a notecard from fael ?:)
Pila Mulligan: thanks
Fael Illyar: Hi Star :)
Moon Fargis: hi star ^^
Pila Mulligan: hi Star
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Stargate :)
Bertram Jacobus: but ... isn´t it so, that the big churches sometimes
seem to bind the people with the idea of guilt and that only the church
could free them from that ?
Bertram Jacobus: hello stargate ... :-)
Stargate Tone: Hello Qt, Pila, Nymf, Fael, Moon , Bert :)*
Pila Mulligan: guilt is a strong tool for many forms of domination
Fael Illyar: Bert, yes big churches do that. But it's good to notice
the difference between religion and religious institution here.
Stargate Tone: agree with you Bert 130 &
Stargate Tone: %
Bertram Jacobus: lol 130 % - that´s much ! :-)
Stargate Tone: but it's showed out to be with all of them differenct cultures too
--BELL--
Stargate Tone: it's a little bit more than 'physic' yes :)*
Bertram Jacobus: and i agree totally : churches and religion are to differ. very nice to hear that this here is naturally
Moon Fargis: wel i think that buddhism isnt a religion at all but others might see that different
Stargate Tone: well; I'de like to tell that I brought the enlightened
friend of mine here too, even she's not to be seen, but think that many
here can sence her; so ; I just confirm that
Fael Illyar smiles.
Pila Mulligan: hello friend :)
Stargate Tone: sadly those many teachings are also used to 'be a
weapon' in order to 'teach' other people to feel guilt that they are bad
Stargate Tone: specially if they dont meditate or something like that
Bertram Jacobus: i would ask how you define religion. when it´s a
sight, which includes or leds to the absolute for example, buddhism
would be religion too ...
Stargate Tone: even that was never ment to happen
Stargate Tone: but so many people have 'forgottan' the first teaching; 'do not keep any other god's...
Stargate Tone: thinks you all know that
Moon Fargis: in erligion, people belive in a overnatural all mighty
being that is capable to steer their future their luck, their harvest ,
they belive in a god, yes
Moon Fargis: follow it without questions
Stargate Tone: and that kind of 'god' is also money to soooo many people
Moon Fargis: ^^
Stargate Tone: so; isn't it so, that people makes many weard things to be the relegion...
Pila Mulligan never met a god he didn't like, however
Stargate Tone: _/!\_
Moon Fargis: but buddha was just a normal human
Moon Fargis: and never ment to be treatend like a god
Moon Fargis: but sadly ofcourse many do
Fael Illyar: (warning, at least two different meanings of 'god' being used here.)
Moon Fargis: cus they mixed up their natural religion with buddhsm
Nymf Hathaway: everyone is just a normal human
Pila Mulligan: or a normal cow
Moon Fargis: yep
Qt Core: just plain carbon units ;-)
Stargate Tone: and yes; as buddha ment with 'not keeping gods' to include also his teachings
Bertram Jacobus: i think, religion and god or gods are words which are
very infected by misusing them in the last centuries. they could be
cleaned again. i would find that nice ...
Pila Mulligan: it owuld be nice Bertram
Stargate Tone: hm
Moon Fargis: sure but for me its the essencial role of a religion
Stargate Tone: but...wouldn't it be more than good thing, if people would understand for example what bible tells; this;
Stargate Tone: 'god is everywhere'
Nymf Hathaway: thinks religion is for those who are afraid to deside the paths of life by themselfs
Stargate Tone: _/!\_
Pila Mulligan: :)
Stargate Tone: and cuz there's all the time new birth; new life coming,
there's always needers (weaker one's) for different kind of guidence
Moon Fargis: yes thats why in buddhism is teached that everything lays in your hand, your future and well being
Moon Fargis: well ofcourse a god harvest is also sometimes in the hand of nature too that i wont deny :)
Stargate Tone: yet; cuz nobody cannot force all the other ppl effecting
to one's life to behave ; in a way 'nothing' is on our own hands
Pila Mulligan: in Nymf's Forum that existed in 2006-2007 the group once
had a discussion of the origin of the idea of gods and demons
Pila Mulligan: god harvest may be part of it :)
Pila Mulligan: good-god d'evil-evil
Bertram Jacobus: for me, only throug buddhism i found the good in jesus
teachings and could divide between misuse of his life and his words.
for example he said : you earn what you seed. that is pure karma
teaching. and so a big part of the teaching form the montain is for
example ... or is there anything better than "love your neighbour as
yourself" or even "your enemies" ? ...
Stargate Tone: there is a friend of mine, who pondered the advise he
got, that black and white must be in balance...he learned also, that
because that makes the life's needed movement
Pila Mulligan: (or was it 2007-2008?)
Nymf Hathaway: 07/08
Stargate Tone: think if would be very urgent to remember for that
teaching too, how different it was in time that teaching was given
Pila Mulligan: the content of the teachings of Jesus are indeed pure, Bertram
Stargate Tone: as it's not any obvious if one 'gets back' what one gives *
Fael Illyar: Hello Hades :)
Pila Mulligan: Buddhism seems to have tried to get more into the balance part
Moon Fargis: hi hades
Pila Mulligan: hi Hades
Stargate Tone: how there was much more open societies where lies was found out much quicker
Stargate Tone: Hello Hades
Nymf Hathaway: Hi Hades :)
--BELL--
Moon Fargis: good thanks :)
Moon Fargis: come and uhm take a seat ^^
Bertram Jacobus: hello hades ... :-9
Hades Nostram: Thank you :)
Bertram Jacobus: sorry, it´s just still 30 seconds of silence ...
Bertram Jacobus: and i´m fine. ty. how are you ? :-)
Hades Nostram: Also good.. what are we discusing today?
Moon Fargis: usual stuff
Fael Illyar: guilt, regret ... and gods
Pila Mulligan: the difference between regret and guilt
Pila Mulligan: first
Pila Mulligan: now reliongs and good and such
Bertram Jacobus: moon - you said before something would be the essence of religions. what is that ? i didn´t get it -
Moon Fargis: ah god
Bertram Jacobus: ah ty :-)
Moon Fargis: without god or a god being i think any religion would turn to a teaching
Pila Mulligan: Taosim?
Pila Mulligan: ism*
Fael Illyar: Hello Vajra :)
Pila Mulligan: a religion without a god
Bertram Jacobus: i found the regret and guilt notecard so clearly that
not much can be said to the topic anymore - in my sight of the topic :-)
Moon Fargis: a teaching then
Stargate Tone: ah; like there is this Mayan Tradition; huge much of
knowledge of mankind, that is not easy to 'find' the 'god' inside that
culture
Pila Mulligan: yes, it is
Pila Mulligan: hi Vajra
Bertram Jacobus: hello vajra ... :-)
Moon Fargis: hi vajra
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Vajra :)
Stargate Tone: but it's the idea, that this world must be saved and and that MT is the only way to do that
Stargate Tone: Hello Vajra
Qt Core: i have some doubt about the notecard, i checked a dictionary
(webster online) and it sayd regret is about something you don't have
control on
Qt Core: while guilt is about things you did (or think you did or had to do)
Moon Fargis: qt:you decide what fits best for this definition for yourself )
Vajra Radikal: seems there is an interesting subject seeing the large group assembled
Fael Illyar: Qt: That's the nature of words, especially these. They're used in varying ways.
Stargate Tone: definition
Qt Core: yes, i know (and i love to play with words too)
Stargate Tone: just have MUST to tell our huge expression of love to start to light with Qt's words
Stargate Tone: as so many people 'play' with words in order to 'smash' other's, not the way you Qt mean
Bertram Jacobus: but if playing with words leads to doubts (?) ... ;-)
Stargate Tone: our = me and my lady friend beside me
Qt Core: sometimes to doubts sometimes to new exciting discoveries, you should accept the risk
Stargate Tone: ah; as THAT is how soooo many people do play with words and create guilt and unsecurity
Pila Mulligan: or confusion
Bertram Jacobus: oh : risky paths (!) ... ;-)
Qt Core: sometimes, often sadly playing with words become playing mind games with words
Qt Core: (so easy and so evilly "empowering")
Stargate Tone: _/!\_
Stargate Tone: ah yes; basicly life sure is a risk; one can die :)
Qt Core: the dark side of communication.... where is Yoda whern you need him
Moon Fargis: hmm btw words, just noticed someting intresting
Stargate Tone: star naughty today (?) :)*
Vajra Radikal: words are just imperfect tags assigned to reality
entirely dependant on perception to have any meaning thus common ground
in words or common understanding is almost impossible
Moon Fargis: if something goes wrong , english people say "oh man!"
Bertram Jacobus: oh i love yoda and use his way of talking sometimes - but only in german i can do that ... :-)
Moon Fargis: we germans say "menschenskinder! "
Moon Fargis: (mankindschilds)
Moon Fargis: dont ask me why
Fael Illyar smiles.
Qt Core: they seem to be just substitute for god to not commit
blasphemy, in milanese dialect we say oh signur (oh Lord) for that
Stargate Tone: (maybe german people are more realistic what comes to men :)*)
Moon Fargis: heh
--BELL--
Stargate Tone: brb
Bertram Jacobus: but vajra : one can focus the dividing or the common in things. that applies also to words
Bertram Jacobus: ups - he´s away
Qt Core: (and often much more heavy speaking, we italian are quite colorful ;-)
Moon Fargis: ofcourse there are worser words everywhere on every language
Fael Illyar: Most arguments I've seen here have been because the arguers used words differently.
Pila Mulligan: :)
Moon Fargis: i just got reminded cus we often use the short form of
"menshcnekinde" wich is "Mensch!" wich we say when something annyos us,
like my cat atm :)
Moon Fargis: but silly how it is Mensch is translated with "human"
Fael Illyar smiles.
Nymf Hathaway: The use of language within sl is interesting :)
Nymf Hathaway: for example the people using things like ROFL
Moon Fargis: hehe yes also like they carry out that as own words
Moon Fargis: and then say it in RL
Moon Fargis: like lol
Nymf Hathaway: agree Moon :)
Fael Illyar: rofl and lol have been born on text-only chatrooms :)
Moon Fargis: yep
Qt Core: like smiles
Qt Core: an interesting way to try to had some more human touch to text only communication
Qt Core: mostly to express irony when some phrases, if taken seriously may have offended
Moon Fargis: yes but imo Silly when someone carrys it out in rl and instead of laughting he says "lol" to you
Moon Fargis: "even when he dont needed to laught"
Nymf Hathaway: It comes across as lazy as well for me
Stargate Tone: b
Moon Fargis: wb
Stargate Tone: ty
Nymf Hathaway: Smiles
Qt Core: i'm the geekier/nerdier in my group but i t never even thought about saying lol in rl
Moon Fargis: i sadly noticed it alot here n my surrounding
Qt Core: they already call me crazy for being in sl... they would call the mental hospital if i ever do that :-)
Moon Fargis: LOL!
Moon Fargis: Meep Meep
Stargate Tone: our family's one saying was this; 'if one dont
understand from half a word, one does not come wise even of the whole
word'
Nymf Hathaway: ice one :)
Stargate Tone: sure that ment to use the common language
Nymf Hathaway: Nice
Stargate Tone: but thankfully most of my friends in SL have said; 'dont mind them typos'; I can read
Stargate Tone: so; words can be used also freely, when there is love present
Nymf Hathaway: Typo's are very different from ROFL to me
Stargate Tone: _/!\_
Bertram Jacobus: that´s the key to me star : love !
Stargate Tone: _/!\_
Qt Core: if you want to read something about a sectorial language,
something very funny but interesting too, especially in the
introductive part i may suggest "The Jargon File" you can find it both
online and on paper
Qt Core: it is about the tech/computer area languages
Moon Fargis: oha
Qt Core: (it even shed some light about the history of the subject)
Moon Fargis: thx :)
Nymf Hathaway: Thank you Qt
Bertram Jacobus: and there are even studies about chat language and a
may be astonishing result is, that chatting enriches the capacity of
expression (often people state it would make silly) ... ;-9
Moon Fargis: 1c wh4t 1 c4n d0 f1nd1ng th1s
Pila Mulligan: :)
Nymf Hathaway: Nice :)
Qt Core: it hurt my eyes ;-)
Moon Fargis: heheh
--BELL--
Qt Core: the worst is the use of 2 for two and 4 for for as non english speakers don't read them that way
Qt Core: (we italian read 6 as "you [singular you] are")
Moon Fargis: hmm intresting
Pila Mulligan needs to slip out now (it is 11 pm Saturday night here) -- thank for another interesting chat session
Nymf Hathaway: I think these are good for our brain Qt.... those who make us think twice
Nymf Hathaway: Have a good night Pila :)
Bertram Jacobus: then have a nice nite pila :-9
Stargate Tone: _/!\_
Qt Core: bye Pila, sat night... have fun then ;-)
Moon Fargis: see you pila!
Moon Fargis: ah
Moon Fargis: Cu
Moon Fargis: :)
Moon Fargis: i just got reminded that google has alot of language tools
Moon Fargis: to translate text in also weird geek language
Qt Core: like Klingon
Moon Fargis: yes
Moon Fargis: but the one mean is hacker
Moon Fargis: http://www.google.com/intl/xx-hacker/
Nymf Hathaway: Nice Moon, never saw it before :)
Qt Core: that sad, very geeky people are usually very conscious about
their writing, (even if the are relaxed aboiut typing errors)
Qt Core: (as they usually knows the power of words)
Nymf Hathaway: thinks.... is she a geek :)
Moon Fargis: yes :) you but such stuff where invented i assume by so called "script kiddies"
Bertram Jacobus: what is the sad aspect in this for you qt ? i did not understand yet (?) ...
Stargate Tone: need to log out so I thank you for behaf both of us here and wish good time to all *
Stargate Tone: hearts
Fael Illyar: See you later Star and friend :)
Moon Fargis: see cou soon star !
Stargate Tone: _/!\_
Bertram Jacobus: ty too star . have a good time ! :-)
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye Stargate have a beautiful day
Qt Core: it does not try to enrich the message or add some second or
third layer of communication, it just try to hide it to create a "power
group" of the ones that can read it
Fael Illyar: my understanding is that this writing style called l33t
was originally created so the text written with it would not be easily
keywordable.
Fael Illyar: of course, now that it's got popular, it's no longer useful for the original creators.
Bertram Jacobus: oh i see. thanks for the explanation qt
Fael Illyar: a stealth motive :)
Qt Core: it is even worse than sms-language, there there is the "need" to shorten all you can
Bertram Jacobus: for me, i don´t have to understand or to know all these relative affairs ... ;-9
--BELL--
Fael Illyar: There are absolutes hiding behind all relative :)
Nymf Hathaway: Glad we get to deside with whom we speak and listen too Qt :)
Moon Fargis: bing
Moon Fargis: ill tell you what,
Moon Fargis: *mumblegrumble*
Moon Fargis: ;-D
Bertram Jacobus: lol ;o)
Fael Illyar smiles.
Nymf Hathaway: Thats a nice word Moon :)
Qt Core: you know, sometimes the power of ignoring someone is even bigger than fighting him/her
Moon Fargis: haha
Fael Illyar: It's often surprising how much there is to learn about the
world as a whole. Just from a single minor relative thing :)
Bertram Jacobus: that was what i meant :-)
Fael Illyar: wb Hades :)
Bertram Jacobus: hello hades ... :-9
Moon Fargis: wb hades
Hades Nostram: Hello...
Hades Nostram: had some major cpu heating probs..
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Hades :) welcome back
Bertram Jacobus: hello lightbo ... :-)
Hades Nostram: Thanks
Moon Fargis: ahh thats not good hades
Hades Nostram: No... i had to remove the cooler and renew the cooling pasta...
Nymf Hathaway: Hello Lightbo :)
Fael Illyar: Hello Lightbo :)
Moon Fargis: hi lightbo
Bertram Jacobus: take a seat if you like lightbo :-)
Hades Nostram: From 80 degrees to nomilal 35 degrees... it helped for sure
Moon Fargis: :)
Fael Illyar smiles.
Lightbo Kondor: ^^
Bertram Jacobus: you are new in sl lightbo or is it only a new avatar ? :-)
Lightbo Kondor: maybe my computer is slow
Moon Fargis: .)
Moon Fargis: are you the first time here lightbo ?
Lightbo Kondor: ya, I am first time here
Bertram Jacobus: sure. many of us know such phenomenons lightbo (!) ... ;-)
Bertram Jacobus: especially in sl one can experience the slowlyness of one´s computer ... ;-9
Fael Illyar: Yes, SL is easily one of the most demanding graphical applications :)
Lightbo Kondor: nn, I know
Hades Nostram: Sure is :)
Bertram Jacobus: nn ? what does that mean, please ? :-)
Nymf Hathaway: hahahaha
Moon Fargis: well we area group that assembles here 4 times a day

calles "play as being" its open to everyone but we log our talks abnd
place them at a webpage http://playasbeing.wik.is/ is it ok t include
you ?
Lightbo Kondor: I know the topic here we like, share , tears, laughter
Bertram Jacobus: is irritated know about nymfs laughing ... hm
Moon Fargis: fael: for me RL is the game with the best gfx and sfx , also think about the physic engine.. wheeew
Nymf Hathaway: shall not laugh anymore
Fael Illyar: Moon: I wasn't talking about how good the gfx and sfx are :P
Bertram Jacobus: nooooo please not - but was it in relation to my question about "nn" ? (still don´t know what it is) ...
Nymf Hathaway: yes it was... real funny :)
Lightbo Kondor: let me see, my english is not very well.......
Bertram Jacobus: ok . so i should may be let it go and not to try to understand ? ...
Moon Fargis: yy bertram
Bertram Jacobus: i learn here also lightbo ... english also ... :-)
Nymf Hathaway: I think two years in sl makes everyone a language miracle :)
Lightbo Kondor: ha, thanks
Fael Illyar: Heh, yes, you learn a lot communicating with people :)
Nymf Hathaway: Yep :)
Hades Nostram: Rl is demanding ...need to go.. have a great sunday ! Bye :
Moon Fargis: bye hades!
Bertram Jacobus: bye hades have a good time too
Moon Fargis: keep cool :)
Nymf Hathaway: Bye bye Hades :) like your name :)

Nymf Hathaway: Wishing everyone a good time :)
