Dakini Rhode: hi Doug
doug Sosa: hi dakini.
doug Sosa: oops?
doug Sosa: another magnificent entry :)
Dakini Rhode: lol i was just taking a look at that skirt action
Dakini Rhode: how are you tonight?
doug Sosa: Quite wonderful.
doug Sosa: The quite wonderful was the skirt, i am ok, busy day with lots of little things to do.
Dakini Rhode: haha
doug Sosa: But being pushed by big questions.
doug Sosa: Yourself?
Dakini Rhode: the creator has a way with prims
doug Sosa: i forget: prims?
Dakini Rhode: having a good evening, just made dinner for the parents
Dakini Rhode: ah prims - the basic building blocks of SL
doug Sosa: like what?
Dakini Rhode: not sure which statement the "like what" refers to
doug Sosa: ah, basic building blocks :)
doug Sosa: what is an example of one?
--BELL--
doug Sosa: Hi Paul..
Paul Namiboo: hI dOUG AND dAKINI
doug Sosa: Hm, she dissapeared. I have been coming so often because of the retreat next week, but the people coming to the retreat are not coming to these sessions.
Paul Namiboo: I've only got a minute -- wanted to make sure home computer still worked -- haven't been able to download on my home backup
doug Sosa: For some reason you are not yet visible.
doug Sosa: I don't want to voice because it is not part of this groups mode.
Paul Namiboo: ok
doug Sosa: While we are here, I've cleaned up our online conference (the admin tab on our website) .
doug Sosa: Also, wsa what i said about your writing ok to say?
Paul Namiboo: I have some ideas for our website we can discuss tomorrow, but Anne wants me to go in a minute
Paul Namiboo: firefox won't go to secondlife webite on my other computer
doug Sosa: Women are so... (fill in the blank).. practical, wonderful, demanding, social.. :)
doug Sosa: Ah, that is intersting. I use Chrome.
doug Sosa: Hi back Dakini.
Dakini Rhode: hi! hope i can stay longer this time :-)
doug Sosa: Dak, any idea why we can't see Paul? the little white above his head is there
doug Sosa: straight across the pond from you.
Dakini Rhode: well that's interesting, I see Paul
Paul Namiboo: I gotta go -- I'm sorry because I'd love to meet Dakini. Maybe another time. Bye!
doug Sosa: bye paul.
Dakini Rhode: bye
doug Sosa: Well, he was here for fifteen minutes and i never saw him.
Dakini Rhode: interesting
doug Sosa: puzzle. never happened before to me.
doug Sosa: did you have a system crash or dessert?
Dakini Rhode: technically, it was probably a glitch
Dakini Rhode: oh lol a total crash
Dakini Rhode: i got a black screen -- that cant' be good
doug Sosa: and its not night.
Dakini Rhode: i couldnt do a thing, had to reboot
doug Sosa: ok now?
Dakini Rhode: apparently so :-)
doug Sosa: I have to admit I can see you.
Dakini Rhode: I should mention i'm visiting a friend and hijacking a neighbor's wireless connection, so who knows how long I'll last...
doug Sosa: visiting a friend...parents...?
Dakini Rhode: no....
doug Sosa: the networks we live in are so compelling.
doug Sosa: but good dinner?
Dakini Rhode: chicken and dumplings
Dakini Rhode: peach melba
doug Sosa: Iam so naive. What is a dumpling? Sort of like dim sum?
Dakini Rhode: you aren't from new england, are you?
Dakini Rhode: do you know what a biscuit is?
doug Sosa: well, i had a house on MV and lived in cambridge for a few years..
Dakini Rhode: hmmmm
Dakini Rhode: well
Dakini Rhode: you take your chicken stew and you cook your biscuits on top of it
doug Sosa: no dumplings :(
Dakini Rhode: the biscuits are then dumplings :-)
doug Sosa: ah, in a sauce, almost like a dteew?
doug Sosa: Biscuits sound hard, dumplings sound cute and soft.
--BELL--
Dakini Rhode: yes, exactly, they're cute and soft
doug Sosa: corvi must wonder what we are talking about.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hi, Dakini, Doug
Corvuscorva Nightfire: a little?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: but it sounds yummy
doug Sosa: You got it. Girls.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: snorts
Dakini Rhode: hi Corvi :)
Dakini Rhode: i think doug may have been talking about girls while i was talking about food
Corvuscorva Nightfire: ah.
doug Sosa: Nope, just a kok at the end.. I think i have avoided dumplings cause they look like too much food..
doug Sosa: kok=joke
Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods, smiles.
doug Sosa: I really can talk about both and think both are at the centere of meditation.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: dumplings and biscuits?
doug Sosa: ha.
doug Sosa: girls and food are at the center of meditation because the body wants to take over the mind, replacing calm with radar.
Dakini Rhode: thank you doug for making a connection to PaB I was racking my brain
doug Sosa: blush.
Dakini Rhode: not to ignore the body, if the body is at ease the mind is at ease
doug Sosa: The body wants to run things, make stuff happen, take risks, move on. Meditation has to create a space betwen body and action.
Dakini Rhode: that's interesting, do you see a sort of separation between body/mind?
Dakini Rhode: sort of working at cross purposes?
doug Sosa: no, they can work well together, that is a good life.
doug Sosa: healthy mind in a healthy body in a healthy world.
--BELL--
Corvuscorva Nightfire nibbles on her lip piercing and considers this.
doug Sosa: um, that is a complex communication..
Corvuscorva Nightfire: laughs.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods.
Dakini Rhode: :)
doug Sosa: once again (blush).
Corvuscorva Nightfire: thinks.
Dakini Rhode: so much of what i do involves working with and through the body, i think because we tend to ignore and override its wisdom so often
Corvuscorva Nightfire: ah...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: bodies can be both wise and foolish though?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: forgetting to breath because of anxiety for instance.
doug Sosa: yes, but if we control too much - dead, if we control too little - foolsih.
Dakini Rhode: ah
doug Sosa: But then there is the wise fool.
Dakini Rhode: wise and foolish in the same moment?
doug Sosa: I don't think I am there yet. I still oscillate.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: knowing that you have much to learn, perhaps, and waiting to see what is?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: instead of assuming you know.
Corvuscorva Nightfire is thinking of what the definition of a wise fool would be.
doug Sosa: For all the world's literature and philosophy, i think we are really naive about these issues, so much to explore.
Dakini Rhode: when you pause for 9 secs or 90 secs in PaB style, do you go into the body or stay in the head or both?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: both
doug Sosa: Oh, good question. I think i go to my experience, which is always mix.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: part of what I do with the 9 seconds is remember my body.
Dakini Rhode: i think i become more aware generally, and that includes being more aware of body sensations
doug Sosa: This probably isn't the time, but to explore that, what gets your attention, how do you flllow it, about your body. We would learn alot.
doug Sosa: I sometime s feel like a durveillance cmaera scanning my body involuntarily, and itch here, a hair there, a tightness from sittting, here, aback alley's of thoughts to be explored later, moisture in my eue, breathing like parking cars..
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles..that sounds like poetry again.
doug Sosa: just the facts ma'm
Corvuscorva Nightfire grins...best kind of poetry.
doug Sosa: Actually i think poetry very important, way beyond what we give it.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: oh?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: say more?
doug Sosa: gad, that was my limit.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: laughs..ok.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Dakini..what did you mean aobut working through the body?
doug Sosa: I've been listenigto a series of cd's on romantic poetry, shelly, keats, etc. What strikes me after many listening si how right Blake gets it and wordsworth is just setting up notes fo it. Sheley is brilliant but limited vocabulary "death, grave, lark, loo.."
--BELL--
Dakini Rhode: working with and through the body, i guess it begins with the assumption there is a natural wisdom and healthiness in the body, and paying atttention to that, and seeing what the body has to say, and taking that into account in our actions
doug Sosa: thanks yes, dakini, how (that is the real question tonight).
Dakini Rhode: for example, one of the exercises i've been doing is -- how do you feel? where do you feel it in your body?
Dakini Rhode: you might even find a sound or a gesture to express it
Dakini Rhode: the body has a tremendous amount to say if you listen to it
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
doug Sosa: "nibbles on her lip piercing and considers this." for example.
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiels.
Dakini Rhode: :)
Dakini Rhode: speaking of body language, there are times my avatar appears to be typing when no typing is happening on this side
Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods..it's funny how that works.
Dakini Rhode: and i imagine everyone is waiting for whatever it is i'm not saying
Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I do..I think you are speaking when you "type"
doug Sosa: always looks to me lke playingthe piano, i can make out the tune!.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: heh.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I turned off my typing animation cause I often type and erase.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: so it was getting confusing.
doug Sosa: but it is always the same "tune".
Dakini Rhode: lol i erase a lot
doug Sosa: But it is always the same tune.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: laughs at both.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: It's one of the reasons I like sl..cause you ahve time to erase..not like speach!
doug Sosa: likw now all that typing and i wasn't ??
Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods.
doug Sosa: going...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Bye, Doug..see ya soon.
Dakini Rhode: night doug
doug Sosa: soon..
Dakini Rhode: i'm having a time with my connection tonight, so i'm going now, too
Dakini Rhode: nice to chat with you, Corvi
--BELL--
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and with you, Dakini.
