    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Pila
SophiaSharon Larnia: You dropped out of the sky :)
    Pila Mulligan: hi SophiaSharon
    SophiaSharon Larnia: how are you?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: welcome back Pila
    Pila Mulligan: trying again :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Yakuzza
Yakuzza Lethecus: i came over the kira cafe before and when i tped hre i heard something
    Pila Mulligan: hi Yak
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Zen
    Zen Arado: Hi everyone
    Pila Mulligan: hi Zen
Yakuzza Lethecus: that was just the reason why itped away again
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey zen
Zen Arado: you use emerald Sophia?
Pila Mulligan lag is so bade here that my chat is taking about 15 seconds to post -- so I'll try just listening for a while to see if it imporves any
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes I do, now i see you do too :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: i didnt see your name before
Zen Arado: yes I just downloaded it the other day
Zen Arado: so you see my name in green like I see yours?
SophiaSharon Larnia: i like that you can download temporary textures thats why i use it
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes
    Zen Arado: temporary textures?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yep :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: free
SophiaSharon Larnia: as many as you want
    Zen Arado: where from?
SophiaSharon Larnia: like normal in the linden client, except you check the box 'temporary', it only works in the sim you're in
    --BELL--
    Pila Mulligan: hi Mick
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Mickorod
    Mickorod Renard: hi
    Zen Arado: Hi Mick
Zen Arado: have to try that Sophia
Zen Arado: what other way is it better?
Zen Arado: talking about emerald viewer Mick
Mickorod Renard: yes? never heard of it
SophiaSharon Larnia: your inventory box is different, more options
Zen Arado: someone told me about it the other day
    Mickorod Renard: I see
SophiaSharon Larnia: has a radar for the entire sim
    Mickorod Renard: wow
Zen Arado: what are the little red and green bars for in the top RH corner?
Mickorod Renard: does it wiegh your avi down..more lag?
SophiaSharon Larnia: it doesn't seem to at all Mick, it seems to me to be the same os the linden client, and Zen, I'm not sure, I don't see those
Mickorod Renard: where do you find one?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: http://modularsystems.sl/index.php?o...&id=3&Itemid=8
Zen Arado: ha ha was loking for link myself
    Mickorod Renard: thanks
SophiaSharon Larnia: no problem, i like to see how things look before i pay to upload them
Zen Arado: I was told to make sure it was from modular systems
Zen Arado: had to download 2 programs
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, the other for voice
Zen Arado: didnt use fast one
    Zen Arado: yes
Zen Arado: seems good so far
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive only been back on the other one twice, both for voice
SophiaSharon Larnia: I've been thinking a lot of a topic that was mentioned here a while ago
SophiaSharon Larnia: if its possible to mindfully multitask
SophiaSharon Larnia: and i think pab is fostering this idea of doing this
Zen Arado: men can't do it anyway :)
    Mickorod Renard: true
    Zen Arado: od joke
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Zen Arado: is it a good idea to multitask in the first place?
SophiaSharon Larnia: but keeping a silence in your mind while you carry on your life is doing the same thing
SophiaSharon Larnia: not a task anyway
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Zen Arado: I tend to think you should focus completely on what you are doing
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, when i do that i block out everything else
SophiaSharon Larnia: i dont live in the moment, but for the moment when im done
Zen Arado: I read somewhere that the brain doesnt really multitask
Zen Arado: it just keeps switching from one thing to another fast
Zen Arado: we are not parallel processors
    Zen Arado: more like sequential
    Zen Arado: ?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hmm
Zen Arado: thats why it is dangerous to use cellphones while driving?
    --BELL--
SophiaSharon Larnia: id have to rea about that
Mickorod Renard: because the police may run you off the road?
Zen Arado: there was an interesting article in Tricycle about a mindful truckdriver
Mickorod Renard: your wife may be recording the conversation?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: lol
Zen Arado: he was having an imaginary conversation in his mind and hit a patch of black ice and had a bad accident
Mickorod Renard: you may get your hands mixed up and think its the sandwich?
SophiaSharon Larnia: Ive been awake for a long time again, and am having trouble forming thoughts in my head, I'll post the log :))
Zen Arado: ever since he uses driving as a mindfulness exercise
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ha!
SophiaSharon Larnia: thats actually not funny ;)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye for now
    Mickorod Renard: ]bye Sophia
    Zen Arado: bye Sophia
    Pila Mulligan: bye
    arabella Ella: hiya
    Mickorod Renard: hiya Ara
    Zen Arado: Hi Arabella
    Pila Mulligan: hi arabella
arabella Ella: how is everyone tonight?
    Zen Arado: ok thanks
arabella Ella: seems rather quiet here
    Zen Arado: and you?
    Mickorod Renard: ok thanks
arabella Ella: i am fine thanks but busy as i travel early tomorrow morning
    arabella Ella: to warsaw
arabella Ella: and it is 6 degrees there daytime ... big difference from here
Pila Mulligan has a lag meter showing red, and so is mostly just listening :)
Zen Arado: where are you now?
    arabella Ella: in Malta
Zen Arado: ah yes big difference
arabella Ella: still warm here altho we had plenty of rain
arabella Ella: but still over 20
Mickorod Renard: only a few days though Ara?
    arabella Ella: yes but
arabella Ella: i need to find my coat and socks and all the stuff i never use in summer here :)
    arabella Ella: will definitely freeze
Zen Arado: I watched an interesting video about the connection between mind and matter today
    Mickorod Renard: yes?
Zen Arado: got it on Facebook
Mickorod Renard: can u tell us some?
Zen Arado: but have to watch it again
Zen Arado: it is an hour long
arabella Ella: do you have the link?
    Zen Arado: http://vimeo.com/6503099
arabella Ella: is it a ted video?
    arabella Ella: oh ty
    Zen Arado: no
    Mickorod Renard: great,,thanks
Zen Arado: should have taken notes...
    arabella Ella: :)
Mickorod Renard: can you remember just a little,,to wet our appetites?
    --BELL--
Zen Arado: he talked about ppl thinking about things and it having an effect on things miles away
Zen Arado: the guy is a PH D student so he gives a lot of science backup
arabella Ella: sounds a bit like quantum physics
    arabella Ella: in the video
arabella Ella: what the bleep do we know
    arabella Ella: on youtube
Zen Arado: yes he uses proof from that discipline
arabella Ella: altho quantum physics raises many questions which it cant yet answer
Mickorod Renard: I look forward to viewing it
Zen Arado: he said we sren't controlled by our genes
Zen Arado: this idea of the mind controlling the body seems to be coming up a lot lately
Zen Arado: he says the brain is like a hologram
    arabella Ella: which implies?
Zen Arado: if you lose some cells you still have all your memories
Zen Arado: I initially thought it was a bit cranky
Zen Arado: so didn't take it all that seriously at first
arabella Ella: how could that be possible?
arabella Ella: losing cells yet retaining memory?
Zen Arado: this has been proved apparently
Mickorod Renard: I always had a feeling that the body is just a host for the mind
arabella Ella: but what comes to mind is for eg dementia
Zen Arado: if you lose a section of your brain you don't lose a specific set of memories
arabella Ella: loss of cells and loss of memory
arabella Ella: altho yes the brain has demonstrated its plasticity
arabella Ella: like with stroke patients
Zen Arado: like a hologram contains all the info in just one small piece of itself
Mickorod Renard: the brain sprouts more connections when confronted with new challenges
    arabella Ella: cool
Zen Arado: sorry I can't give you more clear information
Zen Arado: perhaps you should watch it and we can discuss
    Mickorod Renard: yes,good idea
arabella Ella: good idea ... but later :)
Zen Arado: my science background is not so good
Mickorod Renard: but you did sufficient to interest me Zen thanks
Zen Arado: I would like to hear other's opinions on this
Zen Arado: he says it is a new paradigm..but they all say that :)
arabella Ella: the ideas sound very similar to the ones in What the Bleep do we know and i suggest you watch it when you can as it explains quantum physics in simple terms
Zen Arado: ah ye I got another book by that guy
Mickorod Renard: simple terms that I couldnt grasp ;)
    arabella Ella: :)
Zen Arado: thought he sounded very smug
Zen Arado: didnt finish the book
arabella Ella: but Mick we grasp the basics ... maybe not all the details if we dont have a scientific background ... as i dont either
Zen Arado: it was amazing the way he healed himself though
Mickorod Renard: I do forget lots too
    Mickorod Renard: sounds good Zen
arabella Ella: oh so does it involve a personal specific experience of brain damage?
Zen Arado: most of us in SL are pretty open to new ideas I guess
arabella Ella: i should hope so
Mickorod Renard: I like this fractal stuff thats coming more into light,,I wish I coukld understand more of that too
arabella Ella: and mind and brain i find fascinating ... the physical and the mental
Zen Arado: no Peniak is using a very general approach
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Eos
Zen Arado: starts with the development of science from Newtonian to quantum physics
Zen Arado: to fractals and holograms
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Mick, Ara, Zen, Pila
    Zen Arado: Hi Eos
Pila Mulligan: hi Eos (laggy here)
    arabella Ella: Hiya Eos
arabella Ella: I asked about personal experience Zen as you had said [13:54] Zen Arado: it was amazing the way he healed himself though
Zen Arado: yes that was the guy who wrotew 'what the Bleep
    Zen Arado: I think
Zen Arado: his name eludes me
    arabella Ella: oh
    arabella Ella: me too
Zen Arado: he had a bad cycle accident
Zen Arado: almost broke his neck
    arabella Ella: oh how sad
Zen Arado: surgeon was going to put a steel rod to hold his neck in place
Zen Arado: but he refused the treatment and healed himself by the power of his mind
Zen Arado: took a big risk though
    Mickorod Renard: impressive
Yakuzza Lethecus: but be aware bleep was highly criticized
    --BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: You can light your cigarettes, now :-)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey eos :)
Mickorod Renard: when it snows here next i was thinking of torturing some snow flakes,,,,will it bring me bad kama?
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Yakuzza!
Zen Arado: 'Evolve your Brain' by Joe Dispenza
Zen Arado: is the book and it is only mentioned in 'What the Bleep
    Zen Arado: Hi Eos
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Zen
Mickorod Renard: shall I paste what we were chatting about,,for eos?
Pila Mulligan needs to be going -- bye for now :)
    arabella Ella: bye Pila
    Mickorod Renard: bye Pila
    Zen Arado: bye PIla
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye pial
Eos Amaterasu: u can Im me that, Mick
    Eos Amaterasu: bye Pila
    Mickorod Renard: ok
Zen Arado: so do you think we can influence our bodies by what we think?
arabella Ella: of course we can
Eos Amaterasu: likely what we call thinking and what we call body co-evolve
    Eos Amaterasu: each other
Eos Amaterasu: it's hard to think outside our body's proclivities
Zen Arado: it is usually in a negative sense isn't it though?
    Eos Amaterasu: ?
arabella Ella: it is funny though that we call our thinking and feeling our 'self' but then we say 'my hand' for example as though it is extraneous to our 'self' since it is physically part of our body
Zen Arado: angry thoughts produce adrenaline and finally we have heart attack
arabella Ella: and good thoughts produce a state of peacefullness and well being and health most times too
Zen Arado: we can't get away from dualistic thinking :)
Eos Amaterasu: so resting in some understnding of that pattern
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good night
    Zen Arado: good night Yakuzza
arabella Ella: i often wonder why is a lot of our thinking so dualistic ... not only where physical and mental are concerned?
    arabella Ella: nite Yaku
    Mickorod Renard: nite yaku
arabella Ella: good and bad (evil)
Mickorod Renard: proclivities,,,thats a nice word Eos
    arabella Ella: pleasure and pain
Zen Arado: the legacy of Descarte?
    arabella Ella: etc
arabella Ella: i sometimes tend to think that for example we would not appreciate pleasure if it were not for our knowledge / experience of pain
arabella Ella: Descartes is only part of all that dualism
arabella Ella: same for good and evil
Zen Arado: he usually gets the blame:)
arabella Ella: yes i often blame Rene too
Mickorod Renard: maybe you could just have pleasure and more pleasure?
Eos Amaterasu: then you worry you might lose it
arabella Ella: a pleasure pill Mick?
    arabella Ella: night and day
Eos Amaterasu: "how long does this pill last?"
    arabella Ella: seasons
Mickorod Renard: I will take it any way it comes
    arabella Ella: friends and enemies
Zen Arado: you can't define something unless it has an opposite?
arabella Ella: or perhaps you cant appreciate?
Eos Amaterasu: or you need opposites to say the truth
Mickorod Renard: is pleasure at someone elses expense still pleasure?
    Zen Arado: sadistic pleasure
    arabella Ella: order and chaos
Mickorod Renard: then it comes to pleasure defined by ethics?
    Mickorod Renard: or morals
Eos Amaterasu: you can have ethics come out of Being
Eos Amaterasu: as opposed to rules for doing
Zen Arado: you can't have pleasure without pain it is taught in Buddhism
arabella Ella: please say more ... Eos and Zen
Eos Amaterasu: ethics not as prescriptive behavior, but how to be, and coming from state of being
Mickorod Renard: well,,although I cant disagree in academic terms,,I also wouldnt like to say that Budhism is the answer to everything
Eos Amaterasu: so for example "it is good to be here, no reason to leave" is somewhat just coming from being there
Eos Amaterasu: vs coming and going
    --BELL--
Zen Arado: it isn't an answer at all :)
Eos Amaterasu: I think experientially you find that both pleasure and pain are transitory
    arabella Ella: true
Eos Amaterasu: and so not really fundamentally different from that point of view
Eos Amaterasu: they both taste the same, bittersweet
Mickorod Renard: I could really get into this line of discussion,,but I have to leave ;(
    Zen Arado: ok bye Mick
    arabella Ella: bye Mick
Eos Amaterasu: Im afraid I do too, RL dinner, calls, sorry to be so brief, bbye all
    arabella Ella: bye Eos
    Mickorod Renard: bye Eos
    Zen Arado: bye Eos
Eos Amaterasu: Bye Mick, Ara, Zen!
Mickorod Renard: bye Zen,,good to see you
arabella Ella: i must go too ... lots to finish off tonite and it is quite late already
    Mickorod Renard: bye Ara
    arabella Ella: bye
Zen Arado: ok I guess i better go too then
    Zen Arado: bye
    arabella Ella: but
arabella Ella: we must pick up the topic of physical and mental some other time Zen
    Zen Arado: sure:)
arabella Ella: not sure if i will have internet in Warsaw
    arabella Ella: nite for now
    Zen Arado: nite
(I was rather ill from lack of sleep, and had to leave early.)
