The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.

    Pema Pema: Hi Steve!

    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Pema

    Pema Pera: still rezzing?

    stevenaia Michinaga: yes

stevenaia Michinaga: you the only one here?

    Pema Pera: yup

stevenaia Michinaga: (so as to not sit on anyone)

    Pema Pera: :)

    stevenaia Michinaga: awww, pillows

Pema Pera: let there be pillows!

stevenaia Michinaga: let there be less pillows

    stevenaia Michinaga: that looks comfy

    Pema Pera: other pillows . . .

    Pema Pera: not really

stevenaia Michinaga: glad I turned the fountain on low

Pema Pera: (I mean sitting in the middle :-)

stevenaia Michinaga: but I do like the flower in the middle

Pema Pera: ((must be hard to follow our chat log without the visuals))

    stevenaia Michinaga: I will annotate

Pema Pera: it's quite an ethereal one

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

    Pema Pera: oh oh

stevenaia Michinaga: I used to have a smaller on in my hair, I will have to look, the trick being what it was called

    Pema Pera: that's always the problem in SL inventories . . . . .

Pema Pera: we need a semantic search!

    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, no thumbnails

    Pema Pera: :)

stevenaia Michinaga: sometimes I just hate removing things because I know I will not remember what they are called

Pema Pera: I know the feeling!

stevenaia Michinaga: but if I see it, the recognition is instant

    Pema Pera: :-)

Pema Pera: Steve, in Princeton, during the retreat, you talked about avoiding having your buttons be pushed, noticing the tendency for blood pressure to go up and avoiding that, sidestepping that -- is that a good summary?

stevenaia Michinaga: close, I also mentioned it at the Guardian meeting

    Pema Pera: Hi Eos!

Pema Pera: Is that something you always did, or did you learn it at some point?

Eos Amaterasu: Hi Pema, Stevenaia (thx Pema)

stevenaia Michinaga: what you said presumes having buttons... I seemed to have lost most of mine

    Pema Pera: slowly lost them?

Pema Pera: did they wear out?

stevenaia Michinaga: but most people still have them

stevenaia Michinaga: I think they dropped off with time, or got smaller, harder to find

stevenaia Michinaga: I was relating it , in my mind, to how people deal with people who "irritate" them

stevenaia Michinaga: relations range from push back with equal force... to redirect

    stevenaia Michinaga: sorry, reactions, rather

stevenaia Michinaga: I soke to that rage in my email comments recently

    stevenaia Michinaga: spoke

    stevenaia Michinaga: eek, range

    stevenaia Michinaga: freudian slop there

    stevenaia Michinaga: slip

    Pema Pera: hehehe

Eos Amaterasu: wol: typos are body language :-)

stevenaia Michinaga: all over the place

Pema Pera: soak up the rage!

stevenaia Michinaga: "spoke to that range"

Pema Pera: so no buttons pushed?

    stevenaia Michinaga: lol

stevenaia Michinaga: very few that I have found recently

Pema Pera: yes, I remember the email

stevenaia Michinaga: hence no shirt :)

Eos Amaterasu: this is why stevenaia deliberately walks into neighborhood parties :-)

    Pema Pera: :)

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, one of our neighbors is a retired gentleman who hangs out at abortion clinics with fetuses on his vehicle, he tends to easily have his button's pushed as in his eyes we are all baby killers

    stevenaia Michinaga: Yale grad, FYI

    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Eden

    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Eden

    Eden Haiku: Hi guys!

    Pema Pera: Hi Eden!

stevenaia Michinaga: so a while ago, in the office where I worked they checked everyone's blood pressure, everyone's was high except mine, and it remains consistently "normal", seems I've always been relatively peaceful

    Eos Amaterasu: cool

    Eos Amaterasu: :-)

stevenaia Michinaga: a confirming side affect of sorts

Pema Pera is wondering whether we will ever find a wee little button on Steve that we can push . . . . .

    stevenaia Michinaga: I;m sure

Eos Amaterasu suspect stevenaia keeps uncovering buttons from time to time

stevenaia Michinaga: and likewise on you pema

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

Eos Amaterasu: there's also love-handles, so to speak

    Pema Pera: hehe

stevenaia Michinaga: But I do have certain "special" client who do push me over the edge

Eos Amaterasu: opposite of buttons - kind of ways people can get at you :-)

stevenaia Michinaga: not sure it's so opposite

Pema Pera: do tell about the special client, Steve!

    Eden Haiku: Hi Pila!

    Pila Mulligan: hi

    stevenaia Michinaga: Hi Pema

    stevenaia Michinaga: Pila

    stevenaia Michinaga: oops

    Pema Pera: hi Pila!

Eos Amaterasu: Jedi trick: turning button into love handle

    stevenaia Michinaga: laughs

Pila Mulligan: I hope everyone is dowing well

    Eden Haiku: ;-)

    Eos Amaterasu: HI Pila

    Pila Mulligan: -w* :)

Pema Pera: Steve was talking about unbuttoning, Pila

Pema Pera: as you can see

stevenaia Michinaga: seems we are having a typo special tonight

    Eos Amaterasu: aufgekknöpft

    Pema Pera: ausgeknoepft?

    Eos Amaterasu: aufgeknöpft (sic?) unbottoned

Eos Amaterasu: as in Beethoven's 8th Symphone

    Pema Pera: ;)

Pema Pera would love to hear about the "special" client

    stevenaia Michinaga: nods

Eden Haiku: Ds ist eine tragedie aber ich sparche nicht Deutsch.

stevenaia Michinaga: trying to simplify the story in my mind

    Eden Haiku: *Sprache

Pema Pera: so far so gut, Eden!

    Eden Haiku: ;-)

Eos Amaterasu recalls that stevenaia one-finger types

Pema Pera: all appearances to the contrary :)

stevenaia Michinaga: client who refused to compensate me in a timely manor (months over due) and I randomly ran into them on a beach in new jersey

Eden Haiku: Yes, he is typing away with wild abandon!

Eos Amaterasu: omg, ran over his client!

stevenaia Michinaga: the first words were... the check is in the mail

    Pema Pera: hahaha

stevenaia Michinaga: until I got home ... no check

Pema Pera: pushing not the button but the whole person, by car!

Eden Haiku: ALways a good line... that check in the mail.

stevenaia Michinaga: then it was ... no body pays in 90 days!!!

Pema Pera: (very sloooow button pushing)

stevenaia Michinaga: and on and on, no honesty or integrity

Eos Amaterasu: you have to press long and hard on a stevenaia button

stevenaia Michinaga: nods, eventually the other partner had to intervene after hours of absurd messages back and forth, problem was solved in 5 minutes

    stevenaia Michinaga: cooler heads prevailed

Eden Haiku: Are our buttons tears, breaches in our armor?

stevenaia Michinaga: project done, never heard from them again :)

    Pema Pera: good question, Eden!

    Pema Pera: scabs perhaps?

    Pila Mulligan: bruises

    Pila Mulligan: scars

Eos Amaterasu: sharing the chinks in our armor

    Eos Amaterasu: gap handles

stevenaia Michinaga: nods, remnants of something in our past

    Pema Pera: yes

stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps even a reflection of things we do not like being shown

    Eos Amaterasu: yes

Pila Mulligan: sanskara) (Sanskrit for impression; under the impulse of previous impressions) are the imprints left on the subconscious mind by experience in this or previous lives

    Pila Mulligan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanskara

    stevenaia Michinaga: how wonderful, Pila

Pila Mulligan: always liked the rhyme with scar

    Pila Mulligan: san scar a

Pema Pera: yes, a very clear and simple summary

stevenaia Michinaga: so it's all our past lives fault

    Pila Mulligan: :) maybe

stevenaia Michinaga: nice when eyes of the button holes close

    stevenaia Michinaga: shed the buttons

stevenaia Michinaga: wonder what the origin is, must be recent, relative to the existence of buttons

stevenaia Michinaga: (what, not Wiki page)?

    stevenaia Michinaga: *no

Eos Amaterasu: every inch of space is a button

    stevenaia Michinaga: opps

stevenaia Michinaga: found one but relates to something else

    Eos Amaterasu: :-)

Pema Pera: I'll have to get up early tomorrow, so I think I'll turn in . . . .

Pema Pera: nice talking with y'all !

    Eos Amaterasu: 'night Pema

    stevenaia Michinaga: night pema

    Pema Pera: bfn

    Pila Mulligan: bye Pema

    Eden Haiku: Nite Pema!

Eden Haiku: Isn't it «samaskra» in sanskrit for prints from the past Pila?

Eden Haiku: I like chinks in the armor.

Eos Amaterasu: Line 1: chinks in the armor

stevenaia Michinaga: although, no armor could mean no buttons

    Eos Amaterasu: aha!

Eden Haiku: Sorry I was afk for a while. On the news the Prime Minister is in India and there were reporters with him, about India.

Pila Mulligan: not exactly Eden -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sa%E1%B9%85kh%C4%81ra

Eos Amaterasu: if you truly let go of everything, there is no armor, just open space, indestructible

Eos Amaterasu: you never need armor in the first place!

    stevenaia Michinaga: exactly

stevenaia Michinaga: but a nice metaphor

Eden Haiku: Thanks for the link, you are right Pila.

Pila Mulligan: Wilhelm Reich wrote about armor as muscular tension

    Eos Amaterasu: yes, embodied intention

Pila Mulligan: "He argued that unreleased psychosexual energy could produce actual physical blocks within muscles and organs, and that these act as a "body armor" preventing the release of the energy."

Eden Haiku: I meant samskara, but I was mistaken. Have been using the wrong word for years...never checked...;-) I was thinking earlier that my buttons are all connected to language.

    Pila Mulligan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelm_Reich

Eos Amaterasu: R Crumb drew great comics to that effect :-)

Pila Mulligan: it is easy to ocnfuse those terms, Eden

    Eden Haiku: Nice typos!

Pila Mulligan: and language is indeed a response trigger

Eos Amaterasu: any suggestion for how to approach the upcoming 90 secs?

Pila Mulligan: how did France get away with that goal today?

Eden Haiku: I was giving a poetry reading in SL earlier.

stevenaia Michinaga: how about "count your Buttons"

    Eos Amaterasu: :-)

Eos Amaterasu: attention is all buttons

    stevenaia Michinaga: how so

Eos Amaterasu: every sensation is an "alert", button press

Eden Haiku: And I'm still upset about the fact that I felt uncomfortable with my French accent. Button no 1: being a French speaking native in North America.

stevenaia Michinaga: understanding and communication the the great unbuttoner

    Pila Mulligan: :)

Eos Amaterasu: Yes, that sort of button can be an unspoken one too.....

    Pila Mulligan: mon dieu

stevenaia Michinaga: yet, we love french accents

Pila Mulligan: but Thierry Henry cheated :)

    Pila Mulligan: http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/18/dramatic-final-day-has-supporters-on-edge/

Eden Haiku: Layers and layers and layers of history, family issues and so on...All about languages. Spoken, not spoken.

Eos Amaterasu: Yes. I was Polish at home in a French neighborhood going to an English school, in Montreal

Eos Amaterasu: different languages are like different avatars

Eden Haiku: Oh, I did not realize you were talking about footballs. I thought France was one of the guardians who was supposed to remind people of the goals of the 90 seconds. Mon Dieu ;-(

    Pila Mulligan: :)

    Eos Amaterasu: a first

Eos Amaterasu: 9 secs inside soccer/football

Eden Haiku: I see what you mean Eos.

Eos Amaterasu: Do you feel a different you when speaking en francais?

Pila Mulligan: today will remain a button for Irish football fans for many years

    Eos Amaterasu: a sanskara

    Pila Mulligan: yep

Eos Amaterasu: that's how it is, and how it becomes :-)

Eden Haiku: Absolutely. Pure schizophrenia. Multiple personalities syndrome.

Pila Mulligan: well, I've heard it said that you've really learned a new language when you begin to think and dream in it

Eden Haiku: Who won? France did? Against Ireland? I saw one soccer game in my life: that day when Zidane hit the Italina guy with his head ;-)

    Eos Amaterasu saw that too

Pila Mulligan: yes Zidane was A FAN TODAY

    Pila Mulligan: pardon the caps

Pila Mulligan: France beat Ireland on a plainly illegal goal

Eden Haiku: Is not playing anymore, Zidane?

    Pila Mulligan: nope

Pila Mulligan: Thierry Henry pushed the ball with his hand before kicking it! :)

stevenaia Michinaga: laugh, Sports AS BEING

    Pila Mulligan: a no no

Eos Amaterasu must see that movie with Zidane: he lives in the "90 mins"

    Eden Haiku: Soccer as being.

Pila Mulligan: well it is said he was defending his sister's honor

    Eden Haiku: 90 minutes?

    Pila Mulligan: sister's*

Eden Haiku: Yes, I remember they said that. The Italian guy was foul-mouthed...

Pila Mulligan: "Italy's Marco Materazzi said he insulted Zinedine Zidane's sister, revealing nearly two months after the World Cup final what provoked the French star to head-butt him in the chest."

Eden Haiku: 90 minutes as the length of the movie...I suppose?

Eos Amaterasu: the length of a game

Eos Amaterasu: like stars of his calibre, Zidane has a kind of "panoramic awareness"

Eden Haiku: How come you know all this Pila? Do you have a team of researchers around you? ;-)

Eos Amaterasu: Grezky had that in hockey

    Eos Amaterasu: Pila googles :-)

    Pila Mulligan: :)

Eden Haiku: And he is good at it! And fast!

Pila Mulligan: 90 minutes is also the length of the movie it seems :)

    Eos Amaterasu: Yes

    Pila Mulligan: http://movies.nytimes.com/2008/10/24/movies/24zida.html

Eos Amaterasu: Our next retreat: watch that movie!

Eos Amaterasu: gotta go, pals - thanks!

Pila Mulligan: Michael Jordan had mindfulness beyond the ordinary

    Pila Mulligan: bye Eos

Eden Haiku: Bye Eos! Good nite!

    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Eos
