The Guardian for this meeting was Calvino Rabeni. The comments are by Calvino Rabeni.
I
liked this short session. It is still close to New Year's Day and the
session is about themes of looking forward to the coming year - and the
internal view of "what it is like" to do that.
Eliza Madrigal: Hola Calvino :)
Eliza Madrigal will not stay too long... schedule gets busy again tomorrow
Calvino Rabeni: Hola, como esta usted esta noche?
Eliza Madrigal: Ah muy bien, esta muy sueno
Calvino Rabeni: yo tambien :)
Eliza Madrigal 's Spanish is terrible... cannot even call it Spanglish :)
Calvino Rabeni: Pienso de el ano proximo
Calvino Rabeni: :) OK i give up - can't do tilda-ed n's anyway
Eliza Madrigal: hah
Calvino Rabeni: Eden, hello
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eden :))
Eden Haiku: Hi Eliza and Calvino.
Eliza Madrigal: the pink hair really suits you
Eden Haiku: My favorite color!
Eden Haiku: Didn't have time to change before the poetry reading. It looked weird a bit for a poetry reading ;-) I have a kind of lag in clothing these days...
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, I'd love to know when you have a reading
Eliza Madrigal: would be fun to attend :)
Eden Haiku: Oh, your hair is turning pink also! Nice!Yes, the problem is we never know exactly when we are on...I'm supposed to organsize one with a few friends at Kira sometime. I will let you jnow then Eliza ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: Great, thank you :)
Eden Haiku: Any topic for the next 90 secs?
Eliza Madrigal: yes, I wore this lilac for a while... with blue skin... was fun for a change
Eden Haiku: Lilas, yes...hum, blue skin. Nice ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: For the 90 secs - I was thinking "the new year, what to drop and what to have more"
Eden Haiku: good one!
Eliza Madrigal: yes great! Nice to dive into an exercise tonight :)
--BELL--
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Calvino Rabeni: That was good
Eden Haiku: Scattered thoughts. Noisy RL.
Eden Haiku: Yes Calvino?
Calvino Rabeni: The year still feels "new", like if I have thoughts about it, they will have a character of decisions
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: listening
Calvino Rabeni: I am letting drop - or actually rather feeling into - a feeling attitude I have about getting involved in projects
Calvino Rabeni: I am letting go of some of the concern with getting over extended
Eliza Madrigal: ah, that's great
Eden Haiku: Yes, I see.
Calvino Rabeni: In its place there is entering more "spaciousness"
Calvino Rabeni: Once that comes in, an unexpected feeling of excitement and gratitude is coming up, spontaneously
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: Just lovely, Calvino
Calvino Rabeni: Hi, Stevenaia
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Steve :)
stevenaia Michinaga: hello
Eden Haiku: Good evening Steve!
Eliza Madrigal: Just can't help but sign on Sunday nights, eh?? :)))
Eliza Madrigal: In that pause, I let go of the tension in my shoulders and immediately pictured walking with my son to school... thought it would be wonderful to leave with enough time to take it very slowly.. thought about his smile...
Eden Haiku: Wow! that sounds so good Eliza!
Calvino Rabeni: it does
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: then thought about how cold it will be tomorrow and how much I won't want to walk...hehe
Eliza Madrigal: but after an initial push it will be great I'm sure :)
Eliza Madrigal: but it is a general picture for the new year... taking great things slowly
Eliza Madrigal: thanks :)
Eliza Madrigal: A lovely pause before signing off... early day. Thanks everyone. :)
Calvino Rabeni: (To the departing Eliza) Short but sweet
Eden Haiku: My experience was not so magic: I was overhearing my father's dog barking and the angry shoveling in the stairways. He lives downstairs. I said I was going to shovel tonite (it's 10,30pm here) than I forgot. So guilt welled up.Asked my boyfriend nif he thinks my Dad is angry. He says Dad was making noise because it stopped snowing hours ago so there is no more snow to shovel ;-) I guess I picked up the anger just the same. To drop the guilt would certainly be a good thing to do for me ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: When I have that, there's a lot to it :)
Calvino Rabeni: A lot to drop, I mean, hopefully
...
Calvino Rabeni: I'm still working on my new years resolutionsI was searching for a word expressing the difference. Immediately after the session I had a phone conference with a different group, and the word appeared there - "aspirations" rather than "resolutions". Aspirations has a quality of alivenesss suggested by the breath, in contrast to "resolutions" which implies something being finished. So the traditional word seems even a bit self-defeating when used to label a state of mind that is really about looking forward to the year to come.
Calvino Rabeni: This time in an attempt to do them in a new way than before
Eden Haiku: Mine is to travel light of heart, Lots of burdens to drop ;-)I was looking for a phrase that connected with the sense of it. But it was going to take a while.
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I am thinking of that as well Eden
stevenaia Michinaga: a year of being nimble
--BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: unfortunatley I must go
Eden Haiku: A year of being nimble! Very nimble Steve!
stevenaia Michinaga: enjoy your evening
Calvino Rabeni: thanks for stopping by stave:)
Eden Haiku: Bye!
Calvino Rabeni: Steve
Eden Haiku: Fast and light Steve!
Calvino Rabeni: In the past, with new years resolutions, I would kind of decide things and declare them to myself
Calvino Rabeni: as if telling myself what to do.
Eden Haiku: Yes?
Calvino Rabeni: And naturally, I might feel some resistance to being told what to do, even if by myself :)
Calvino Rabeni: This time around I am trying a different approach
Eden Haiku: chuckles
Calvino Rabeni: it is to put my feeling into a deeper place of "what is possible"
Calvino Rabeni: And then have some of those things be the resolution
Eden Haiku: How would you phrase that?
Calvino Rabeni: So in a way, the resolution is pre-approved by a deeper part of me
Eden Haiku: It is so much easier having just a short sentence to relate to all year long....
Eden Haiku: It has to come from a deep place though, yes.
Calvino Rabeni: I see what you were asking
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, make a phrase that connects to a deep place
Calvino Rabeni: hmm
Eden Haiku: I had 'to travel light' a few years ago. Literally. I did it! I was so proud of myself. But then I ended up having to buy many clothes when abroad...
Eden Haiku: Very small suitcase indeed ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: I travel that way - in many places the clothes are cheap and interesting to get, so why bring them from home?
Eden Haiku: So a deeper place of 'what is possible"?
Eden Haiku: Yes, true.
Calvino Rabeni: along with a sense of, those were the things that wanted to happen, that were meant to be
Eden Haiku: Not sure I understand what you mean.
Calvino Rabeni: it is the positive side of "no more waiting" - and more affirmative than "if not now, then when?"
Eden Haiku: Ah, go for it?
Calvino Rabeni: Like, jump on the train now.
Eden Haiku: yes yes.
Eden Haiku: How would you say that?
Calvino Rabeni: It has its own momemtum, but I have to go for being part of itThat wasn't it yet, due to the watery part of the metaphor. Later it came to me and I set the phrase on my avatar's hovering tag line to "leap on the horse of living". That will do for now.
Calvino Rabeni: I have a lot of creative projects in the works
Eden Haiku: Go with the river? No, that's not what you mean...
Calvino Rabeni: and the same quality with relationships
Eden Haiku: Yes, it can take a while.
Calvino Rabeni: Leap into the rushing stream of life
Calvino Rabeni: and get carried away
Eden Haiku: Pretty good...That is, "aspiration" - plus maybe a little Whitmanesque lustiness too. Walt Whitman knew this territory.
Eden Haiku: Getting carried away has another meaning too no?
Calvino Rabeni: It's about right action, but how it is from the first person view
Eden Haiku: It reminds me of the path of least resistance
--BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: In which I mean, dropping wrong and going for right, always feels an energetic unburdening
Eden Haiku: http://www.amazon.ca/Path-Least-Resistance-Learning-Creative/dp/0449903370
Eden Haiku: Dropping wrong? Going for right?
Calvino Rabeni: As sensed via energy
Eden Haiku: Ah, bad feelings, good feelings?Vibes?
Eden Haiku: Stream of life as you said earlier,
Calvino Rabeni: Suppose right action were a horse you could ride
Calvino Rabeni: It has energy and wants to go a certain way
Eden Haiku: And you let the horse lead you?
Calvino Rabeni: Would you feel more energetic to get on and ride with it,
Calvino Rabeni: or to resist and pull the other way?
Eden Haiku: I did that once, in Egypt, riding a horse near then pyramids. First, I tried to lead the horse but soon I realized he was much wiser and he knew the place much better than I.
Calvino Rabeni: looking at feelings, there seem to be ones that have flow, and ones that have "blocked" or resistance
Calvino Rabeni: And often a complex mixture of those
Eden Haiku: He brought me to the best views of Cheops and Mykerinos. The horse was trained to do that.
Eden Haiku: feelings that have flow, others that do not?
Eden Haiku: Could you give me an example?
Calvino Rabeni: a feeling that has a clear message, and feels like it is evolving, it has no fixed form
Calvino Rabeni: some people distinguish these types
Calvino Rabeni: if I feel stuck with anger, it is the non-flowing type
Eden Haiku: tell me a story about a feeling which has a clear message and then evolves...
Eden Haiku: I have my own stories but I would like to hear one of yours so I undertsand what you mean.
Calvino Rabeni: An anger that says - now I understand what really needs to happen here - and what I need to do and am able to do
Calvino Rabeni: That kind, "implies" the way forward
Eden Haiku: Yes...
Calvino Rabeni: and then, it changes
Calvino Rabeni: it doesn't feel like it did before, something new comes into reality
Calvino Rabeni: a new possibility, a new viewpoint,
Eden Haiku: ok, an example?
Calvino Rabeni: and its work is done.
Calvino Rabeni: An example is what I said about my new years resolution about relating to projects
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: Yes, not getting over-extended on projects?
Calvino Rabeni: I set my tag line to the phrase we were talking about earlier
Eden Haiku: Yes that is very good: leap on the horse of living!
Calvino Rabeni: Out with the old - fear or reluctance to be overextended
Calvino Rabeni: In with the new - being energized by real possibilities that give me energy and have a life of their own
Calvino Rabeni: And it relates to the tag phrase
Eden Haiku: I have this picture of a mongolian horseman riding in the Gobi desert!
Calvino Rabeni: That is an example of the non-flow and the flow type feeling
Calvino Rabeni: :)
Calvino Rabeni: I'm glad I have been around horses in RL, it makes the fantasy feel more potent
Eden Haiku: Yes, I like the fact that you did not put the «to» in front of the verb also. The title is readable for everyone then.
Calvino Rabeni: nice point - it gives it double purpose
Calvino Rabeni: nice point - it gives it double purpose
Eden Haiku: I'm not bold enough for the imperative tense, but I'm going for assertion!
Calvino Rabeni: I know what you mean!
Calvino Rabeni: That was funny, the line about double, actually doubled itself.
Eden Haiku: SL laughs at us sometimes ;-) or with us...
Eden Haiku: Good this is my first accomplishment of 2010 then. Dropped the 'to', in front of the verb and started my journey on January 3rd.
Calvino Rabeni: Eden, I just got a RL phone call, and will be distracted for a while
Calvino Rabeni: Great talking with you, I enjoyed it
Eden Haiku: Ok I will have to go. Nice talking with you.
Calvino Rabeni: :) BFN
Calvino Rabeni: Eden skates off into the distance on gliding ice skates :)
Calvino Rabeni: I see this because my cam view was attached to her avi - I forgot about that SL phenomenon :)
