The Guardian for this meeting was Wester Kiranov. The comments are by Wester Kiranov.

Nymf Hathaway was already in the pavillion and Gaya Ethaniel joined us soon after. We talked a bit about my plans to get a job.

Nymf Hathaway: Long time, Wester :) have a happy new year :)
Wester Kiranov: Hi Nymf. Same to you!
Nymf Hathaway: Happy new year Gaya :)))
Gaya Ethaniel: Happy New Year to you both :)
Wester Kiranov: Hi Gaya, Happy new Year!
Gaya Ethaniel: Any new year resolutions?
    Gaya Ethaniel: Or aspirations?
Wester Kiranov: I definitely want to get a job again this year. Working on it as well.
Nymf Hathaway: Thats a nice gift to yourself :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Sounds like you narrowed down to some specific industries then Wester?
Wester Kiranov: I narrowed down to a very specific job, making subtitles for television. I'm practicing making those
Calvino Rabeni joined us as well, and deepened the conversation by bringing up aspiration management.
    Wester Kiranov: hi calvino
Nymf Hathaway: Good evening Calvino :)
Gaya Ethaniel: oh I'm glad to hear you found a specific role even :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Calvino :)
Wester Kiranov: It is not my dream job, but it's something that won't bore me easily and there is work in that direction
Calvino Rabeni: sorry late, what are you working, Wester?
Gaya Ethaniel nods ... tries to remember a quote by Picasso re: jobs ...
Wester Kiranov: I am working on getting a job as subtitler
    Calvino Rabeni: translation?
    Wester Kiranov: yes, translation.
Wester Kiranov: although there are dutch-to-dutch subtitles as well sometimes
Gaya Ethaniel: I can't remember exact words but he said something about doing 5 if one is able to do 7, doing 3 if one is able to 5 ... etc.
Gaya Ethaniel: Guess it refers to being less ambitious? What do you think?
Calvino Rabeni: I don't think so, Gaya
    Gaya Ethaniel listens.
Calvino Rabeni: Someone asked me for advice on running
Calvino Rabeni: So I repeated what I had been taught
Calvino Rabeni: Assuming - you want to be a long distance runner and do that for a long time
Calvino Rabeni: the advice was- run as if you could do it FOREVER,
Calvino Rabeni: and then just a little less, so that you still have a desire, to want a little MORE
Calvino Rabeni: that is how to grow and sustain in long distance running
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: Does that make sense - it is about managing your aspiration and energy
Calvino Rabeni: It was more complicated than that, but this was the "everyday" effort to make
Calvino Rabeni: The coach was very effective I thought
Nymf Hathaway: Your advise makes sure someone stays eager, Calvino :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Yes
Calvino Rabeni: you don't want to burn out
    Calvino Rabeni: it is "sustainability"
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes ... so believe in one's abilities? I think the quote was to demonstrate how not to feel daunted by when embarking on new creative projects ...
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, being overambitious can result in giving up too early rather than sustaining
Calvino Rabeni: I feel, it applies to other efforts besides athletics
Gaya Ethaniel: I do like the advice ... :) "run as if you could do it FOREVER"
Calvino Rabeni: You have to, of course, imagine you can go far :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Calvino Rabeni: a little faith in self, not the self that is afraid
    Gaya Ethaniel nods.
Calvino Rabeni: Gaya you are looking very "human" today :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: I wanted a change ... thanks :)
Calvino Rabeni: I like the look
Gaya Ethaniel: Easily bored ... I can be :P
Calvino Rabeni: Wester, is wester a common or unusual name?
Wester Kiranov: @ Gaya: (has taken a better look) very human, I like it
Wester Kiranov: Wester is not a common name, and when i have found it as a name it is usually for a male
    Gaya Ethaniel thanks Wester :)
Wester Kiranov: I started using it when fotolog wouldn't take estherw as nick :)
Gaya Ethaniel thinks Wester is a very good photographer ... :)
Wester Kiranov: oops - i said I would upload new photos last time
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Wester Kiranov: *renews resolution to upload some new photos*
Gaya Ethaniel: Whenever you feel inspired Wester :)
Wester Kiranov: I just have to let go of the thought of all that backlog and concentrate on now, I guess
Gaya Ethaniel: I guess that would certainly help ... I had this backlog of posting photos for family in Korea so thinking along the same line ie start with latest ones and cut the losses.
    --BELL--
Gaya Ethaniel: I think it's a good life skill to know when to cash out :P
Gaya left and Flux Constantine joined us. We talked about Stim, California and mystery stories.
Gaya Ethaniel: Unfortunately I need to run, a few things to sort out in SL. Nice seeing you all :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye Gaya
Nymf Hathaway: Have a beautiful day Gaya :)
Wester Kiranov: bye Gaya, was nice seeing you
    Nymf Hathaway: Hello Flux :)
    Flux Constantine: hi
    Wester Kiranov: hi flux
Wester Kiranov: have you been here before? I don't seem to have met you yet.
Flux Constantine: yes, a couple times
Flux Constantine: making a spectacle of myself earlier today, I think
Calvino Rabeni: I gathered you have a special relationship with Stim :)
Flux Constantine: only in my own mind :)
    Wester Kiranov: where else? ;)
Calvino Rabeni: And he with you.
    Flux Constantine: hope so
Calvino Rabeni: It's good to be buddies
    Wester Kiranov: I'm jealous ;)
Flux Constantine: can't you do that? :)
Wester Kiranov: well I did ask him if he could be my teacher, in 2002 before all this SL stuff.
Wester Kiranov: But he thought I lived a bit too far away, and he does have a point
Wester Kiranov: even now with this sl
    Flux Constantine: ah, interesting
Nymf Hathaway: Will be leaving as well, wishing everyone a nice day and good sleep Calvino :)
    Wester Kiranov: bye nymf
Calvino Rabeni: thanks, by Nymf !
Calvino Rabeni: California is not a bad place to live
Calvino Rabeni: Hard to extend the stay, I guess
Flux Constantine: no... I've lived there before
Flux Constantine: my timing is always off somehow :)
Calvino Rabeni: When where -- that makes a difference
Flux Constantine: right here, right now... where else?
    Calvino Rabeni: oh, california
    Flux Constantine: hehe. for example
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: I was reading a book a while back called "The Club of Queer Trades"
    Calvino Rabeni: Early 20th century
Wester Kiranov: what was it about?
    Calvino Rabeni: English
Calvino Rabeni: It was a series of mystery stories
    Wester Kiranov: ah
Calvino Rabeni: Each one started with an inexplicable event being observed
    Wester Kiranov: such as?
Calvino Rabeni: And then, the writer would investigate, and the plot would thicken
Calvino Rabeni: Some one would do something outrageous or dangerous-looking
Calvino Rabeni: And at first it would look like a crime.
Calvino Rabeni: The narrator found, in each case, that the action in question actually had a perfectly moral rationale
Calvino Rabeni: On more investigation, all the perpetrators belonged to a secret society
    Calvino Rabeni: Which he infiltrated.
Calvino Rabeni: The one thing the members had in common - the only thing - was that they each had to have invented their profession or trade
Calvino Rabeni: And it must be original
Calvino Rabeni: The stories were about - things are not necessarily how they look
Calvino Rabeni: and secondarily - they may be better than one assumes at first
Wester Kiranov: that's an optimistic outlook
Calvino Rabeni: It was - but it counseled to look into appearances
Wester Kiranov: I will have to leave pretty soon, RL calling
Calvino Rabeni: maybe, it would take a lot of work to do that
Calvino Rabeni: OK, wester, good to see you
Wester Kiranov: Bye then, see you next time
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye for now
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: There is no constant but change itself
