Calvino Rabeni: It is from a previous activity that involved dancing. I was shifting my awareness to "being as spin"

SophiaSharon Larnia: ah :)

SophiaSharon Larnia: spent a lot of my time trying to still the spin, or what seeing is in the middle of the spin

SophiaSharon Larnia: i would think that would take a practiced type of mindfulness

SophiaSharon Larnia: staying awake and not falling asleep as it were in being busy

Calvino Rabeni: makes sense

SophiaSharon Larnia: I though you were in retreat Storm :)

Storm Nordwind: Ah... change of plans... various reasons... the retreat is not going ahead, numbers fell right off

Storm Nordwind: And too late to go to Malta now as air fares have tripled

Calvino Rabeni: On a practical note, I'm wondering about a choice of language in telling people about it - does "mindfulness" or "awareness" seem more workable?

Storm Nordwind: They may refer to different things with many people

Calvino Rabeni: Of course, but when you publish on the WWW, one needs to choose based on an average or something

Calvino Rabeni: Customized to an individual is not always an option

Calvino Rabeni: I'm thinking "awareness" seems better for that

Storm Nordwind: Try the two in a sentence and see.

Storm Nordwind: However, I would choose awareness for several reasons

SophiaSharon Larnia: awareness leads to mindfulness

Storm Nordwind: It is a more open term and has less baggage specific to religious practices

Storm Nordwind: It is also more ambiguous - and that can be a good thing in an intro to inspire questions

Storm Nordwind: It has an air of spontaneity about it too - in accord with play - whereas mindfulness seems rather deliberate

Storm Nordwind: But your mileage may vary! ;D

Calvino Rabeni: Thanks, the third reason hadn't occurred to me.

Calvino Rabeni: So be it, with the magic of a global search and replace, mindfulness becomes awareness

Flux Constantine: I did for quite a while, but recently I've fallen out of it

Storm Nordwind: How did you find it (if you want to share) and what do you think caused the tail off?

Flux Constantine: I encountered one of Stim's RL students in an online forum several years ago

Storm Nordwind: Interesting

Flux Constantine: I'm not sure the practice "works" for me anymore. it feels... redundant, maybe

Storm Nordwind: You mean that you have any beneficial effects some other way now?

Flux Constantine: I think I turned myself into a ghost

Flux Constantine: I can hardly be seen at all...
