The Guardian for this yes, exhilarating session was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza Madrigal, who was joined first by Sharon and Sophia, then Zen, then Widget, Yakuzza, Eos, and Pema.

At first glance it may seem that all we did was 'play' today, but closer investigation reveals rather serious topics and exploration. It seems a very display of the ideas we began with!

SophiaSharon Larnia: good morning Eliza :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sharon! :)
Eliza Madrigal: I love your new hair.. very elegant
SophiaSharon Larnia: thanks :) want to see something funny?
SophiaSharon Larnia: there, now its down :0
    sophia Placebo: Hi
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Sophia :)
Eliza Madrigal: Sophia, Hi there :)
sophia Placebo loves hair with animation
    SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Eliza Madrigal: My wisdom sisters with me today :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'm amused by the oddest things
Eliza Madrigal: Taking pleasure in appearances
    sophia Placebo: me too :)

I'd never seen animated hair in SL before!

Eliza Madrigal: I was thinking about the day that Sophia, Adams, and I shot lemmings at one another in the village....
    SophiaSharon Larnia: shot with what?
sophia Placebo: lol that was awsome day
Eliza Madrigal: you're there watching yourself and thinking "Wow this is so much fun but wow I wouldn't want to explain it to a therapist"
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    SophiaSharon Larnia: haha
    sophia Placebo: why not ?
Eliza Madrigal: Sharon, Sophia had these lemming shooter gadgets...
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, that's true Sophia... Why not
sophia Placebo: let me see if i didnt delete them
Eliza Madrigal: but its just funny... SL can play with our judgements of how we use our time, what makes up substance, etc...
sophia Placebo: yep i deleted them
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Eliza Madrigal: I probably have them... will send if so...

With Sophia's pointer, I find them! We can't wait to play... <

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Zen
    sophia Placebo: Hi zen
Zen Arado: Hi Eliza, Sophia, Sonia
sophia Placebo: crazy bag was the name of folder if im not mistaken
Eliza Madrigal: Its funny how doing the silliest things can bring balance
SophiaSharon Larnia: the question partly is what the judgements are made of
    Eliza Madrigal: oh, true!
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe...
    sophia Placebo: Thanks eliza :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh geez Snapshot_098.jpg
    SophiaSharon Larnia: LOL
Zen Arado: thanks - what is it?
Eliza Madrigal: We'll have to run around in the village later... crazy guardians....
sophia Placebo: i'll show you wait
SophiaSharon Larnia: it scared me i deached it*giggles*
    Eliza Madrigal smiles

    sophia Placebo: thats it
    SophiaSharon Larnia whispers "eek"
Eliza Madrigal: haha... It helps to use 'mouselook'
sophia Placebo: it helps to be on our legs running
SophiaSharon Larnia: ha! I got the Pab sign lol
    sophia Placebo: lol
    Zen Arado: funny :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: running in mouselook? like Im not clumsy enough already
    SophiaSharon Larnia: haha

Eliza Madrigal: haha.. This is the 'not taking ourselves too seriously' session :)
Zen Arado: don't tangle with me or you'll get a lemming :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: ha right back atcha
sophia Placebo luaghs , yeah it makes you more clumsier but you would laugh harder
    Zen Arado: serious threat :)

We try to be a bit more, ahem, serious...

Eliza Madrigal: The idea of the lemmings following one another off of cliffs just to be part of the group has been a fun way of talking to my kids about some things...
Eliza Madrigal: thinking about judgementalism, etc
Zen Arado: running with the crowd?
Zen Arado: keeping bad company etc
Eliza Madrigal: yes, definitely... even in subtle ways ... we make judgements all the time without realizing it...
Eliza Madrigal: based on how someone is dressed or even on a careless thing they might say 'once'
Zen Arado: trouble is more not judging in that case ?
Zen Arado: just doing the same as everyone else ?
    Zen Arado: groupthink
Eliza Madrigal: I guess its the same thing. It starts with everyone making fun of someone else maybe... then goes on to not disagreeing on other levels...
Eliza Madrigal: yup, right off the cliffs...
sophia Placebo: doing same as everyone else is what some poepel means when they say "iwant to feel iam normal again "
Zen Arado: but this happens in adult groups too don't you think?
SophiaSharon Larnia: i was about to say, to judge means you agree with that
Eliza Madrigal: right down to "you shouldn't be spending your time shooting lemmings"
    SophiaSharon Larnia: lol
    Zen Arado: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, true Sophia... "normal"
Zen Arado: groups usually impose some kind of 'norm' on you though
Zen Arado: if you don't fit in you have to leave
Eliza Madrigal: I like the Zen Mind Beginners Mind idea of a wide field...
Eliza Madrigal: lots of grazing room...
Zen Arado: what was that Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: Basically there isn't need to 'impose' too much if a wide field is perceived...
Zen Arado: ah give people lots of room and that is the best way to control them?
Eliza Madrigal: to let go of 'control', I'd think...
    Eliza Madrigal: with oneself, too

Sophia remarks on how changes individually affect others...

SophiaSharon Larnia: or even doing something that you personally would not usually do, although not 'wrong', just the fact that you're doing something different, may be see threatning to some people
sophia Placebo: i mean everyone wears shoes , everyone got friends , everyone can pronounce words correctly , from point of veiw popel who want to be normal
    Eliza Madrigal nods to both...
SophiaSharon Larnia: to do something different threatens some people's nicely ordered world
Eliza Madrigal: yes, and even our own!
    Zen Arado: true
Zen Arado: we all have out 'norms'
sophia Placebo: hmm how about changing your habit , your norm among poepel who used to your norm
SophiaSharon Larnia has no 'norms' although her avatar clothes would say otherwise
sophia Placebo: do you feel some threat too ?
Eliza Madrigal: hm, yes because we're not in a vacuum... everyone affects everyone...
    Eliza Madrigal giggles @ Sharon...
sophia Placebo: no one has no norms me thinks
Zen Arado: yes - and when you find your ideas changing you have to leave a group
    sophia Placebo nods to zon
Eliza Madrigal: I think we can be considerate when we change... let things that break down, break down perhaps...
Zen Arado: your ideas no longer coincide with theirs
Eliza Madrigal: true... there are times ...
Zen Arado: I had to leave the Christian church because of that
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Zen Arado: though I liked the people there
    Zen Arado: can be difficult
sophia Placebo: not necessarly zon , how about being more compasionate with poepel who you have been very rude with ?
Zen Arado: well...took me a long time....
Eliza Madrigal: yes I relate to that too, coming to a place where you feel you must drastically shift... might be rare though...
Eliza Madrigal: like Sophia mentions there is a lot of room just in daily life, to relax judgements perhaps
Zen Arado: attachment to people and places and ways of thinking

Eliza Madrigal: I think I became very contrarian for a while... and perhaps extreme in that regard...
Eliza Madrigal: 'no labels' meant not being able to really enjoy people, for instance...
Eliza Madrigal: not really deeply hear and appreciate them.
Zen Arado: we seem to have an innate need to belong to a group
Eliza Madrigal: Maybe we create 'no label' labels sometimes... funny
SophiaSharon Larnia: i suppose ive become contrarian as well, but I'm not sure what you mean, can you say more?
Eliza Madrigal: yes I think so Zen, in some senses...
Eliza Madrigal: Hm, maybe in reaction to being boxed, we can impose a sort of rigid 'no box'
Zen Arado: I can be a bit contrarian too

What the log was nearly named, but I couldn't the word 'lemmings' in there with it. Hmm.. Contrarian Lemmings? Nah... :)

SophiaSharon Larnia: contrarian is the new normal
Eliza Madrigal: and that might squeeze out room we might use to really deeply experience thigns
    Eliza Madrigal: *things/people/experiences/opportunities
Eliza Madrigal: hah, yes that's quite a way to put it

With the pleasure of being part of groups, including families, come questions of when to express disagreement and how. It occurred to me reading the session over, that on a one-on-one basis, when there is trust that a person loves and appreciates you generally, it is easier to hear disagreement or even >gasp< criticism...

Zen Arado: though everyone is in agreement I see something wrong and have to speak out
Zen Arado: so what do you do? Keep quiet?
SophiaSharon Larnia: the term has a negative connotation
Zen Arado: or just go along with it
Eliza Madrigal: I think one definitely speaks for themselves...
sophia Placebo: what about going alone
    Eliza Madrigal: Hm
Zen Arado: but if it is going to cause friction and upset others?
Eliza Madrigal: Maybe there are kinds of friction, and kinds of speaking out....
Zen Arado: it is a koan of group interaction
    Zen Arado: yes Eliza
SophiaSharon Larnia: often, when one person speak out in those kinds of cases, othersfind the strength to speak out too
Eliza Madrigal: speaking from a place of investment/compassion, etc is different then just having opinions, perhaps...
    Eliza Madrigal nods
SophiaSharon Larnia: after all, your talking about being alone
Zen Arado: ah yes ..that is true too Sharon
Eliza Madrigal: A person who 'can' be alone is the one who can enjoy not being alone the most maybe :)
Zen Arado: you find others agree with you and are afraid to speak
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
SophiaSharon Larnia: but to still be alone, means maybe youre in a bad situation
Zen Arado: yes Eliza..if you are speaking for the good of the group as you see it....
    Zen Arado: Hi Yaku
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Yakuzza
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Ya :)
Eliza Madrigal: I watched a film yesterday... one that Gaya likes a lot, and in it there is a scene where the male character takes a lot of time with his food and sits and enjoys an elegant meal... just with himself. I'm inspired by that :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good day everyone
    sophia Placebo: hi yak
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you, Ya :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: which movie ?
    Eliza Madrigal: Il Mare
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Widget :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Widget
    Zen Arado: Hi Widget :)
    Widget Whiteberry: Hi
Eliza Madrigal: Let me give you two notes...
Zen Arado: I do that sometimes
Eliza Madrigal: Elegant suit, Widget :)
Zen Arado: when I can't find anyone to go to a reataurant with me
Eliza Madrigal: It can be wonderful... learning to enjoy your own company....
Widget Whiteberry: thank you, after spending most of the winter in them, I had to get the robes cleaned
Zen Arado: I much prefer company though
    Zen Arado: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: men can do that, for women i think its hard, the judgement thing again
Zen Arado: yes - more difficult for women
Eliza Madrigal: Hm, eating dinner alone Sharon?
Eliza Madrigal laughs.. and great shoes, Widget :)
    Widget Whiteberry: ☆smiles☆
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, in a restaurant, and not at the food court at the mall
    Widget Whiteberry: very* cheap

Sophia speaks to this issue well, I thought...

sophia Placebo: im not speaking about going alone in physical sense though that what happens sometimes but rather to stand alone and not waiting backing from others "i do think thats wrong cuz this and that " even if you didnt leave the group , you make it clearly you disagree with them , if you were right and they wrer wrong then they would remmebr what you said , you were alone but right

    sophia Placebo: hi widget
    SophiaSharon Larnia: trueSophia
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes thanks for the clarification Sophia
    Eliza Madrigal nods...
Zen Arado: sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe
Eliza Madrigal: We had a conversation here last week, where we talked about being honest AND kind
Widget Whiteberry: what did you take away from that conversation?
sophia Placebo: true zen you need to sit down when you are clearly wrong
Eliza Madrigal: I think it goes together a bit... when you aren't fearful of being alone, you can be more courageous....
Zen Arado: I agree - though it is not always clear who is right or wrong
Eliza Madrigal: Widget, I've thought a lot about happiness and kindness since then... and that we can be closer to people when we come from an authentic place....
sophia Placebo: thats right and that would save lots of friction
    Widget Whiteberry nods
Eliza Madrigal: but we have to give benefit of the doubt too...
Eliza Madrigal: maybe we go back to equanimity and allowing for times and seasons also
Zen Arado: so if we are more concerned with being helpful and kind rather than who is right...
Eliza Madrigal: not being quick to give judgements and opinions,,, but not being silent either?

Eliza Madrigal: yes, what is the motivation might be the question... hm
Eliza Madrigal: There's a phrase I heard in a teaching recently, love being a kind of "energy toward the good"
Widget Whiteberry: ah, I like that idea
Zen Arado: and if we are thinking waht is best for the group rather than with what we feel is right or wrong
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: Zen you're part of a rl zen group for a long time?
Zen Arado: yes about 6 years
Zen Arado: though I can't go to the group meetings
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, so in that amount of time I'm sure there are lots of changes with people individually and group wise...
Zen Arado: yes they have had a few bust ups too
Eliza Madrigal: must come up a bit, when 'protest' is necessary, etc
Eliza Madrigal: Maybe Jesus gives a good example... mostly he taught love... once in a while he was really mean
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
Zen Arado: yes - he threw the money changers out of the temple

    sophia Placebo: Hi Eos
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eos!
    Zen Arado: Hi Eos
    Eliza Madrigal: Home now, Eos?
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Eos :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey eos
    Widget Whiteberry smiles at Eos
Eos Amaterasu: Hi all - arrived to -20 weather :-)
    Widget Whiteberry: yikes
    Widget Whiteberry: sounds frosty
Eliza Madrigal 's teeth begin chattering
    sophia Placebo: throw me some
    Widget Whiteberry: teeth?
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
    Widget Whiteberry giggles
Eliza Madrigal: Eos, we've been talking about hm.... judgementalism and when to speak out/be silent, and love and following/being a lemming, enjoying one's own company... lots :)
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: This all started with what I'm about to give you, Widgete, and Ya
    Eos Amaterasu: oh oh
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, I made your name french Widget
    Widget Whiteberry: ☆smiles☆
Zen Arado: if we can be happy when alone it solves a lot of problems
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Eliza Madrigal giggles.... need mouse lock
Yakuzza Lethecus: can we place blockers and blew up some later :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahhaa
Zen Arado: refuses to become a group lemming again :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hahaha
Eos Amaterasu: no fully rezzed so not geting the full effect .... :-)
Eliza Madrigal: haha...oh no... door bell.... one moment

Yakuzza decides lemming shooting is one thing, but there is never too much Onigokko..

    Yakuzza Lethecus: poor lemmings :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
    Yakuzza Lethecus: stop
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah... oh no....
    Widget Whiteberry: lol
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oops :)
Eliza Madrigal: whenever I change I loose my onigokko....
    SophiaSharon Larnia: me too!
    Eliza Madrigal: onigokko
    Eliza Madrigal: stop
Eliza Madrigal: Oh Eos... sorry. Did you come for mindful conversation this morning? Smiles
    Zen Arado: onigoko lemmeings :)
Eos Amaterasu: Just dropping in for short moment... lots of catchups
    Eliza Madrigal: Yes, I'm sure!
Eliza Madrigal: At least you got a bit of a reprieve from the snow...
Eliza Madrigal finds snow a reprieve from the heat
Eos Amaterasu: snow in Paris a couple of morning ago, but it didn't stick
sophia Placebo: ig2g , see all soon
    Eos Amaterasu: bye Sophia ...
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye sophia
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Sophia! :) Thanks for coming :)
    Zen Arado: me too
    Zen Arado: bye

SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Sophia and Zen :)
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Zen :) (oops late)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I have to go too
SophiaSharon Larnia: see you later everyone :)
    Eos Amaterasu: ciao!
Eliza Madrigal: Okay Sharon :) Nice to see you, talk soon!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye for now
    Eliza Madrigal: Bfn :)

Pema arrives, there is more mention of weather, and we all get cozy...

Eliza Madrigal: Hi Pema! You're blonde...
Eliza Madrigal: Oh wait... there is your red hair :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey pema
    Pema Pera: hi there!
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Pema!
Eliza Madrigal: You just missed two Sophias and a Zen...
Pema Pera: was just checking whether anybody was still here :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes, its been a full and interesting session...
Eliza Madrigal: Eos arrived home to -20 weather
Eliza Madrigal: haha.... watch out for Yakuzza...
    Pema Pera: :)
Pema Pera: wow, play with beings!
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, eliza supplied us with plenty of lemmings :)
    Eliza Madrigal searches inventory....
    Eos Amaterasu: play as lemmings
Pema Pera: -20 in which scale, Eos?
Eliza Madrigal: It is something Sophia gave me actually...
Eos Amaterasu: Centigrade (& not counting wind chill)
Eos Amaterasu: but Malta rugged-ized me :-)
    Pema Pera: hahaha
Pema Pera: indoors Malta must be colder, I bet
Eliza Madrigal likes picturing you all cocooned in blankets...
Pema Pera: or do you wear many sweaters?
Eos Amaterasu: have first going downstairs...also wearing one sweater
    Pema Pera: have first?
Eos Amaterasu: in Berkeley people often wore (maybe still do ) down vests
    Eos Amaterasu: *fire
    Pema Pera: :)
Widget Whiteberry: I wear a down vest in California
Eliza Madrigal must be cold blooded... is 70*F and I am in a shawl...
Widget Whiteberry: I've never learned to convert F to C
Eliza Madrigal: Uh Oh, Ya :)...
Eliza Madrigal: (have to use mouselook )
    Eos Amaterasu: You'll love -40 : F and C are the same :-)
    Widget Whiteberry: ☆smiles☆
Pema Pera: (now how do I shoot??)
    Pema Pera: mouselook?
    Pema Pera: is that enough?
Eliza Madrigal: Mouselook and then click....
    Pema Pera: hehehe
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Pema Pera: one way to keep warm!
Eliza Madrigal: the sound effects are great
    Eos Amaterasu: that was exhilarating
    Eliza Madrigal: We're so sophisticated

Pema decides that neither lemming shooting nor onigokko is radical enough on its own ...

Pema Pera: can you combine lemmings with the O word?
    Eos Amaterasu: virtual water pistol
    Widget Whiteberry: all is illusion
    Pema Pera: onigokko
    Eliza Madrigal: Ohhh... wonder
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
Widget Whiteberry: how do I do that?
    Eliza Madrigal: really too much
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    Pema Pera: stop
    Pema Pera: wow . . . .
Eliza Madrigal is out of breath...
    Eliza Madrigal: whew
    Eos Amaterasu: Heh heh
Pema Pera: how to comment in the chat log what just happened here???
    Pema Pera: onilemming?
Eliza Madrigal takes pictures sSnapshot_099.jpgo she doesn't need to comment...
Widget Whiteberry: well, Pema, she said seriously
    Pema Pera: hahaha
Widget Whiteberry: how was that for you?
    Pema Pera: yes, Widg?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    Pema Pera: hahaha
    Eliza Madrigal: :)))
    Pema Pera: twas fun, Widget
Widget Whiteberry: how do you activate the oni thing?
Pema Pera: we have to give you the onigokko object
Widget Whiteberry: I'm wearing it now

    Widget is initiated...

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, thought you had that Widget...
    Pema Pera: onigokko
    Eliza Madrigal: here we go
Yakuzza Lethecus: you have to wear it
    Eliza Madrigal: stop
    Widget Whiteberry: I'm wearing it
Pema Pera: what made you stop?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
    Widget Whiteberry: stood up
    Eliza Madrigal: stop

Eos is standing still, amidst guardians gone wild ...

Pema Pera: like in Malta, Eos is the quiet rock in the surf
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: He stabilizes us all
Eos Amaterasu: Have onigokko, but if you put it on after it starts it doesn't dance
Eliza Madrigal: and you have to be sitting?
Eos Amaterasu: anyway, have to get back to the 10,000 things (as if they weren't here as well)
Eos Amaterasu: Pema, see you at noon SL
Yakuzza Lethecus: glad to here that ur back home eos
Eliza Madrigal: haha... yes here are 10,000 and one
    Pema Pera: me too
Yakuzza Lethecus: what was it now -20 C or F ?
Pema Pera: yes, I have four sessions in SL today, four different groups . . . .
Pema Pera: and this is a bonus quarter of an hour!
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to have you all here today... full and fun morning

Eos Amaterasu: ciao Widg, Yak, Pem, Eli :-)
    Pema Pera: bye for now
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Widget, Ya :)
