    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bertram Jacobus: and free styling ?
    Liza Deischer: :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
Maxine Walden: nice to have Pema back at these guardian meetings
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, Welcome back Pema :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: wb Pema :)
Bertram Jacobus: yes : long time no see pema ! :-)
Pema Pera: yes, I'm glad I can make them regularly again!
Pema Pera: this last week I've hardly been in, with all my travels
Pema Pera: but now I'll stay put for six weeks at my home base
Pema Pera: so I hope to show up more regularly again
Pema Pera: what kind of topics have you all been talking about, this last week?
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu, Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: Hi EveryBody
    Bleu Oleander: hi all
    Liza Deischer: Hi Bleu, Riddle
SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Riddle, Hi Blue
Bertram Jacobus: hello riddle and bleu
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey all i haven´t greeted

I point to an email sent the night before, pointing to a new interview with SophiaSharon, in which we announce that she will be our new PaB Chronicle Writer:

Eliza Madrigal: Last weeks' session we discussed fundraising further, and the SF retreat. This week I wonder if others have seen the email announcement I sent out? :))
    Zen Arado: Hi Riddle, Bleu
Paradise Tennant: smiles and waves at bleu and riddle :)
    Liza Deischer: about Sophia, yes
Pema Pera: the announcement about Sharon becoming the new chronicler?
Eliza Madrigal: If not I'd like to just mention here that Sharon will be assuming role as Chronicle Writer :) yes
Pema Pera: thank you very much indeed, SophiaSharon!
Eliza Madrigal: :::applause and thanks::: Sharon!!
Maxine Walden: yes, SophiaSharon, thank you so much!
SophiaSharon Larnia: Adams has done so fantastic I'm hope to do half as well

Maxine Walden: you will have your own style, SophiaSharon, perhaps inspired by Adams, but your own style; we look forward to that
    Eliza Madrigal nods enthusiastically :))
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Pema Pera fully agrees with Maxine!
Eliza Madrigal: It is an important role... noticing the steps pab makes, special topics, events, etc.
Eliza Madrigal: I've always enjoyed reading them month-to-month

We fall quiet, and Pema brings forth a topic close to my heart (and eyes, and hands)  ...

Pema Pera: if we don't have any other topic planned, maybe this is a good opportunity to talk about the current scribe system?
    Eliza Madrigal: Sure!
Bleu Oleander: that would be great ... esp for newbies like me!
Eliza Madrigal: We're planning to have a scribes session very soon....
SophiaSharon Larnia: youre going to scribe Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: don't know anything about it
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :) ok

Pema Pera: let's start from scratch
Eliza Madrigal: where some (hopefully most) of the current scribers will be able to brainstorm and discuss scribes/ scribing....
    Eliza Madrigal: Okay.. listening :)
Pema Pera: we started the current scribe system a year and a bit ago
Pema Pera: the main reason was that not everybody has the time to read four new chat logs a day
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Pema Pera: so for many of us, me included there will be many sessions where someone says something very interesting which we will miss, because we don't find the time to read all logs
Pema Pera: so we were searching for ways to distill what was said
Pema Pera: either by lifting quotes out of sessions, or by giving paraphrases, summaries of especially interesting passages
Pema Pera: we instituted a system of "scribes":
Pema Pera: every three days somebody distills, in whatever way he/she likes, what happened during the 12 sessions of those three days

Pema Pera: Now the first question is: are we happy with the current system?
Pema Pera: or does anybody has any suggestion for further improvement?
    Pema Pera: http://playasbeing.wik.is/PaB_Scribe_Project

Calvino Rabeni: Maybe tagging of some kind? Or some how-to ideas?
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sophia :) I'll give you a notecard to catch you up on what we've discussed so far
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Sophia
Maxine Walden: Pema, maybe it is worth also saying that as a scribe there is no way to 'get' everything...realizing that even a close observing of the logs can focus only on certain things...in no way do we expect a perfect distillation
    sophia Placebo whispers: thanks
Bertram Jacobus whispers : hello mrs. placebo ... ;-)
SophiaSharon Larnia: impossible Maxine, it is a subjective distillation
Pema Pera: yes, Maxine, we can only skim some of all the richness of what is talked about, but that is still much better than nothing at all
Maxine Walden: but appreciating that earnest effort in any scribing attempt is all we can do and all we expect
Eliza Madrigal: yes, and appreciate the various ways and angles people approach that delicate balance with
    Riddle Sideways: hi Adams
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Adams :) I'll give you a note
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Adams
    Adams Rubble waves quietly
    Maxine Walden: hi, Adams
    Zen Arado: Hi Adams

I draw attention to the session we'd been planning behind-the-scenes, but had not yet announced. Though there had been a plan and a few attempts at individual sessions for each scribe before, some felt, as Sharon mentions, hesitant. :)

Eliza Madrigal: BTW, the session I mentioned is scheduled for 1PM SLT, March 6th
Pema Pera: what will happen during that session, Eliza?
SophiaSharon Larnia: the freedom within the scibing process is one of its charms, and also so open-ended it's difficult to find where to start
    Maxine Walden: indeed, SophiaSharon
Eliza Madrigal: Well, current scribers will meet, and everyone is invited... to share our experiences with the scribing process, and to talk about the sessions we worked with/noticed... also to give tips. :)
Eliza Madrigal: It can also serve as a mentoring session for potential scribes...
SophiaSharon Larnia: i love the idea of the scribes together (takes off some of the pressure ahaha)
Eliza Madrigal: and we hope to have one about once a month to begin with
    Pema Pera: great, Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal smiles at Sharon :)))
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, I'm looking forward to it... should be fun
Pema Pera: yes, Sharon, it can be hard to know where to start, with so much freedom of how to approach . . .
SophiaSharon Larnia: and vital communication too
Pema Pera: (I'm adding it to the theme session page, ELiza; what shall I call it? "Scribe session", "Scribe Pow-Wow", . . . ??)
    Liza Deischer: :-)
Eliza Madrigal: Right now we have three open windows, so I hope that some might be stirred to give it a try :)) It is actually an enjoyable process and gives one a sense of knowing everyone... across typical session lines, etc :)
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, hahah Pema.. hmmm
Eliza Madrigal: Scribe Session is fine with me...
    Pema Pera: done!
    Eliza Madrigal: Thank you!

:) Zen makes a practical inquiry, and gives our session its odd title ...

Zen Arado: do you get any feedback as o how many peole read the chat and xcribe logs?
Eliza Madrigal: Actually I asked Fael about that recently... around 100 views of the scribe page each month
Pema Pera: (I like "xcribe"! between describe and extract and scribe!!)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Bleu Oleander: ")
    Maxine Walden: creative typo!!
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yes :)
Pema Pera: (and "xclaim" for ELiza when not enough scribes are found!)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
    Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
    Paradise Tennant: smiles

Adams draws attention to the outstanding chat log situation, and guardians chime in that there have been resettings and bumps in the road for some. The auto-logger does occassionally ask that emails be re-entered as a matter of course.

This is why Wol often advises us to set our SL preferences to record chat logs. That way we are always covered.

Adams Rubble: May I bring up the topic of the importance of posting chat logs promptly not only for the scribes but for the chat log readerss as well
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, thank you Adams. Yes, crucial
SophiaSharon Larnia: i had the experience again of not getting the log in my email
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Hi Stevenaia
    sophia Placebo nods nods :)
Paradise Tennant: me too ! missing my malta session
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
SophiaSharon Larnia: gasps* oh no Paradise
Paradise Tennant: does not recognize the emails - after a reset :)
    Paradise Tennant: hiya steves :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes i reset also
Zen Arado: I had to re-enter my email address
SophiaSharon Larnia: thank goodness they are retreivable, fael is awesome
Paradise Tennant: nods do that everytime now as a precaution
Eliza Madrigal: It is easy not to see that email reminder... (when we aren't looking for it)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: and Wol!
Eos Amaterasu: Paradise's session was Saturday Feb 6 1 pm
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Steve :)
Maxine Walden: yes, Fael and Wol have been so very helpful to us all re chatlog links

Bleu asks an important question, and as she does I realize that I myself thought I'd added her as a friend the first day she became a guardian, but hadn't! It has been a busy few weeks, and it is all-too-easy to lose sight.

This is why the role Steven is about to create is so vital...

Bleu Oleander: Could I make a suggestion? when new people join PaB a mentor member could volunteer to friend them and explain some of the roles in Pab and how best to make use of the website .... kind of an orientation of sorts?
sophia Placebo: i usually marks the chat page to favourites but i didnt last time which was bad idea
Liza Deischer: I missed that too Bleu
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes Bleu there are people willing to do so, the idea has been talked about
Pema Pera: what we really need is a single person willing to coordinate mentoring
    stevenaia Michinaga: happy to help
Pema Pera: if any volunteer stands up, we will be delighted -- would you be willing to do that, Steve?
    stevenaia Michinaga: coordinate...gulp
Paradise Tennant: smiles at steve :) who was my mentor
Calvino Rabeni: Friends, I have a 9AM RL meeting so must go (slipping out quietly)
Liza Deischer: yes because if you new here, you don't know who is willing to help
Bleu Oleander: I think it would go a long way towards keeping people involved

Indeed, Steve and Wol held a few mentoring sessions late last year, which went over very well. Having one person whose particular focus it is, coordinate the how/when/why, brings a great deal of comfort! :)

Pema Pera: the problem is, that if we don't have a single point person, it will fall between the cracks
stevenaia Michinaga: when I see a new guardian, I will he happy to intoduce myself and make myself avaulable, perhaps alternating with Wol
Eliza Madrigal: :)) Yes, we did have a few mentoring sessions... which were great. Good to keep those going
    stevenaia Michinaga: will be*
Pema Pera: it's not that that person has to do everything him/herself, but rather that that person can pass on and coordinate information
    SophiaSharon Larnia: yay Steve!
Fael Illyar: the idea is to see to it that everyone finds a mentor?
    Pema Pera: thank you, Steve!
    Eliza Madrigal: Thanks Steve :))
    Pema Pera: interesting question, Fael
    Liza Deischer: thanks steve
Pema Pera: the first need is that everybody can find a name of at least one person to help them find other persons and information -- thanks, Steve!
Fael Illyar: I'd think most will find a mentor naturally but some might need some help :)
Liza Deischer: True fael, but you don't know what you haven't learned

I like Sophia's idea of pointing to the new guardian announcement , which could be Steve's *cue*...

Sophia Placebo: we could do that as we announce the new guardian by the email ?
Liza Deischer: (hoping to make any sense ther :-))
stevenaia Michinaga: there are little things that make this easier, I'm sure I can help with most
Zen Arado: I think we all need a mentor when we take out first guardian session and post first chat log
Fael Illyar: so I'd think coordination isn't needed as much as someone taking active interest in whether new people have someone to help them out.
SophiaSharon Larnia: im sure you have lots of great ideas Steve
Pema Pera: yes, Zen, good point!
stevenaia Michinaga: mainly answers to the easy questions :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: one person to sort of monitor the situation would help out a lot though
SophiaSharon Larnia: not that we all cant do it :)
Pema Pera: And Steve can help lining up chat log helpers with new guardians, for example, just asking a few old hands who has time to do so
    stevenaia Michinaga: exactly
Pema Pera: and yes, we can all help Steve in turn, and we should of course!
    Eliza Madrigal nods... yes
Pema Pera: we all know each other -- a new guardian doesn't yet
    Liza Deischer: right Pema

When someone tends to attend certain sessions, mentoring occurrs somewhat naturally, as there is someone they are used to talk with and asking questions. There develops a kind of 'morning crew', or 'evening crew', etc.

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, assisting with those who take an those early morning sessions is always dificult for me
Pema Pera: so let's all try to give Steve (almost) nothing to do !!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)))

Fael Illyar: like giving new people an introduction like "Feel free to ask help from any guardian you like but Guardian X is there to help if you can't find someone."
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hehe
Pema Pera: great summary, Fael !
    SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Liza Deischer: but sounds a bit weird though :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: if anyone has ideas for an intro notecard for me to send to new guardians, feel free to forward it to me
Fael Illyar: I like the organic way it's been happening so far :)
Liza Deischer: I understand Fael and you are right too
SophiaSharon Larnia: ok Steve, yes Liza, does sound a little strange, but a large group is intimidating for some people

Pema Pera: perhaps you could write a short version, Steve, send it to the email group, and we can all comment about possible additions -- especially the new guardians, from recent memory of their experiences
Liza Deischer: I know, it was just the construct of the sentence, not the information
stevenaia Michinaga: for now I'll include Wol and myself (love that she's not here to not not volunteer)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ah
Liza Deischer: sorry If I confused people
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, don;t wnat to overwhelm the new guardians
Riddle Sideways: be-friending new guardian so they can IM you is good too
Fael Illyar: perhaps would be good to have more than just one. Makes it easier to get in contact, timezone wise
Paradise Tennant: lol but wol is just so helpful - smiles knows she won't mind :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: (just me probably Liza :)) )
Bleu Oleander: Thanks for all of your efforts .... I think it will help

Adams Rubble: Gen and I wrote one early on and I just sent a copy to Steve and Pema
Pema Pera: great, thanks, Adams -- is that posted somewhere on the wiki too?
    Adams Rubble: I think so
Pema Pera: would be best to have it there as well

Eliza Madrigal: There is a guardian email template online... when someone begins hosting or scribing. I'd love if others can tweak it...
    Eliza Madrigal goes for links....
    SophiaSharon Larnia: there is?
SophiaSharon Larnia: oh i think i know what your talking about sorry
Bleu Oleander: (slips out quietly ... sorry to leave early .... rl apt.)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Blue
    Pema Pera: bye Bleu!
    Liza Deischer: bye Bleu
    SophiaSharon Larnia: Bleu*
Eliza Madrigal: http://playasbeing.wik.is/PaB_Handbook/Regular_Activities_Coordinator_Tasks/Welcome_to_Hosting, and also one for scribing.

What has been missing is 'before' one begins hosting or scribing and has just entered guardianing.

Adams Rubble gave you Guidelines for Guardians.
    Paradise Tennant: bye bleu :)
Eliza Madrigal: TY Adams, Bye Blue
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, pre meeting host info
Pema Pera: (love that "guardianing" like cultivating a guarden rather than guarding)
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Pema Pera: (cultivating a guardian??)
    Liza Deischer: :-)
    stevenaia Michinaga: gardening?
    Maxine Walden: :))
Eos Amaterasu: Paradise: Guarden of Eden
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Pema Pera: :-)
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Paradise Tennant: and Eden too :)
Fael Illyar: there, fixed the welcome to hosting document to say flower instead of triangle :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
    Maxine Walden: nice, Fael
    Eliza Madrigal: priorities priorities :)
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: where Fael, the Wiki?
Fael Illyar: the link Eliza gave a moment ago
    stevenaia Michinaga: ok

Having been away, Pema would like to hear topics of interest within the group this last week in particular...

Pema Pera: I'm hesitant to ask . . . but not having been much in the sessions for the last week, I'd love to hear a few points of discussion/conversation. Can anyone remember anything off hand that did strike them as interesting, from any session this last week?
Paradise Tennant: well this was not in a session but yakuzza raised a lot of really good question - relating to how you apply what you learn at PAB in real life :)
Paradise Tennant: just earlier this am
    Pema Pera: that's essential, yes!
Pema Pera: what kind of answers came up?
    Paradise Tennant: yakuzza ....
Yakuzza Lethecus: oh, answeres, i am constantly thinking about that
Yakuzza Lethecus: for me a good session this week was during riddles session
Yakuzza Lethecus: it was on the issue of anticipation in the end
Riddle Sideways: was thinking about Yak bringing up many questions
Yakuzza Lethecus: for me that was related to applying pab in real life
Yakuzza Lethecus: second i go to the logs :)
Riddle Sideways is sorry that log is not commented well
Pema Pera: what about anticipation, Yaku?
Yakuzza Lethecus: dammit, feels overrun by being forced to dig something up that´s not really present in my mind right now
Pema Pera: no problem, Yaku :)
Riddle Sideways: section is sort of large
    Riddle Sideways: maybe...
Pema Pera: that's why I was hesitant to ask on the spot
Riddle Sideways: Yakuzza Lethecus: not loosly but that´s what i think about in dropping
Yakuzza Lethecus: not to ,,make it go away", it just wasn´t there to see more clearly to not getting stuck in anticipated possibilites
Riddle Sideways: yes, that's the way
Yakuzza Lethecus: there isn´t ,,the way", but yes that´s how i would describe it right now
Yakuzza Lethecus: still the entire forcing issue and anticipation issue is serious since i guess that really blocked me in the past

All very interesting, but reaching the end of the hour...

Eliza Madrigal has to run to another meeting. Would appreciate someone sending me the rest of the log to post. Thanks Everyone!
stevenaia Michinaga: I must be off,
Pema Pera: How about each of us coming here one week from now with one single highlight in mind, from the last week, and depending on time, we can then talk about some of those?
Maxine Walden: afraid I need to go. See you all next time...will just slip out
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye
Zen Arado: I have to go too
    Zen Arado: bye all

Added by SophiaSharon -  the remainder of the guardian meeting per request until I left... Yakuzza descibes his experience of dropping anticipation...

Yakuzza Lethecus: bye who´s going to leave
Adams Rubble: bye all who are leaving :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye to everyone :)
stevenaia Michinaga: hold that thought ...:)
Fael Illyar: bye who's leaving :)
    Liza Deischer: bye all
Paradise Tennant: thinks that is precisely on the money - so to speak :)
Pema Pera: does that sound like a good idea?
Pema Pera: everybody carrying a little gem, or a little bird
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sounds great Pema
    Adams Rubble: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: and nice imagery :)
    Paradise Tennant: bye maxine
Eos Amaterasu: Like cats bearing gifts....
Riddle Sideways: Pema, sounds very good
Pema Pera: but not birds, Eos
Yakuzza Lethecus: So, the main issue for me is often how i anticipate things and create self fulfilling prophecy´s so the anticipation is what i have to drop
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: eww lol
    sophia Placebo: sounds intersting
    Paradise Tennant: yes !
Eos Amaterasu: so just noticing the anticipations is the first thing
    SophiaSharon Larnia: good question Yakuzza
Pema Pera: yes, Yaku, that's a great observation
Eos Amaterasu: which might be painful
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s tricky, because it´s related to many even simple things+
Eos Amaterasu: but at least it's being in touch with what is going on
Yakuzza Lethecus: like when i try to play an instrument and start thinking that i ,"suck" and not just play
    Liza Deischer: great Yaku!
Yakuzza Lethecus: or i open an old mathbook and i come back to 100 negative emotions over mathteachers
Yakuzza Lethecus: but not what it´s really about
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Adams Rubble: the anticipation creating a box for oneself
Paradise Tennant: math is pure elegance if only it is taught right !
    Pema Pera: yes!!!
Riddle Sideways: and maybe only anticipating what you'll do at the end of the road rather then enjoying the ride
Yakuzza Lethecus: how to change my thoughts in a more constructive way, so ,"what is me" is me my associations and which perspectives am i ,"want" to preserve
Liza Deischer: anticipation is not being, instead of taking the whole experiencing, you are just looking at a part of it
    Pema Pera: yes, a narrowing
Pema Pera: thanks, Yaku, really a great topic
Pema Pera: and play as Being, in being so wide open as it is, may be just the opposite of anticipation
Riddle Sideways: we had talked of how hard to stop something, drop it, force change it. Rather then note "thats nice" and park the conflict to the side for a while
Pema Pera: not in not leaving room for anticipation -- on the contrary, leaving so much room that anticipation becomes almost impossible!
Paradise Tennant: smiles at pema !
Adams Rubble: the playing part can get us outside our box without our knowledge :)
Pema Pera: yes, Riddle, the wu-wei approach, so easy to forget . . . .
Adams Rubble: only then we turn back and see the box
    Pema Pera: hahaha, yes, Adams!
Pema Pera: it's all a big trick, PaB :-)
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Riddle Sideways: it is :)
Eos Amaterasu: even in the firehose of anticipations there are little gaps
Eos Amaterasu: where are you then, heh heh?
Pema Pera: a leaking firehose, great image!
SophiaSharon Larnia: have to go, bye all :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye sophia
    Paradise Tennant: waves bye sophia
Fael Illyar: Have fun Sharon :)
    Adams Rubble: bye Sharon
sophia Placebo: have to go as well , bye
    SophiaSharon Larnia: waves :))
Paradise Tennant: I should scoot too ..thank you all namaste :)
    Adams Rubble: bye Sophia :)
Eos Amaterasu: Ditto, also leaving, bye all :-)
