The Guardian for this meeting was Zen Arado. The comments are by Zen Arado. Present were Archmage Atlantis and myself.

    Introductory chat:

    Archmage Atlantis: Hello, Zen :)
    Zen Arado: Hi Arch
    Zen Arado: how are you
    Zen Arado: ?
Archmage Atlantis: Still half asleep :).....
    Archmage Atlantis: And you?
    Zen Arado: I'm fine
    Archmage Atlantis: Good
Zen Arado: it is (.11 am where I am
Zen Arado: it must be very early for you?
Archmage Atlantis: It is 4 AM
Zen Arado: 9.11 am I meant
Archmage Atlantis: plus the minutes, of course :)
Zen Arado: ah you must be on the East coast
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, I was trying to figure out what the 5 hour difference means for you
Archmage Atlantis: The thing that messes times up is DST
Zen Arado: well - it means I often miss things in SL that are held at 7pm SLT
    Archmage Atlantis: *chuckle*
Archmage Atlantis: I know Finland is a 7 hour difference, except for part of the year when our DST changes are on different dates
Archmage Atlantis: And then there are the 1 or 2 states that don't do DST
Archmage Atlantis: Tim is a mess
    Archmage Atlantis: *Time

We talked about our experiences of yesterday's dream circle:

Zen Arado: did you enjoy the dream circle yesterday?
Archmage Atlantis: Oops, missed the silence bells
    Archmage Atlantis: Yes very much
Zen Arado: I'm not sure how much credence I would give to dreams
Zen Arado: think they just reflect what is going on in our lives
Archmage Atlantis: I had been to the Dream Workshop at Kira a few times, but it never was as satisfying as that session
Zen Arado: I certainly like people interpreting my dreams
Zen Arado: they see aspects you wouldn't think of yourself
Archmage Atlantis: I accept that dreams come from our unconcious selves, and probably do reflect ourselves
Zen Arado: we all reflect each other too I guess
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, I think as the group shared, the tendency was to be reminded of meanings/patterns others in the group refect
Zen Arado: it involves opening ourselves a bit to others as well
Archmage Atlantis: That doesn't invalidate what one shares, however
Zen Arado: allowing ourselves to become a little vulnerable
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, the group yesterday was unusually open
    Archmage Atlantis: That was good
Zen Arado: maybe we reach some kind of group unconsciousness
Zen Arado: we are all part of larger 'being' anyway
Zen Arado: and we reach that through each other's idiosyncratic personalities
Zen Arado: I notice a lot of biblical imagery coming up for me through other people's dreams
Zen Arado: I suppose this is only natural
Zen Arado: since I have been steeped in Christianity for a lot of my life
Archmage Atlantis: That is the belief many hold, that there is some greater force.......After many years of attempting to analyse that, and finding no scientific answer, I finally decided I preferred to believe so, as I did not like the alternatives
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, my roots are in Christianity also
Archmage Atlantis: Although the study of religions and philosophys has long been an avocation of mine

The 'absolute' or 'God'  - how we seem to want to formulate reality:

Zen Arado: maybe it depends on whether you want to believe in a specific entity called God
Zen Arado: or are just content to feel there is some indescribable absolute at the bottom of everything
Zen Arado: us humans seem to have a tendency to try to 'nail reality down' into some kind of formulation I think
Archmage Atlantis: Actually, I am content just to believe in something greater than I can perceive......whether it is absolute or mutable is a doorway I had to pass through......that I would never be, myself, enough to have any verifyable perception of what that something is
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, we want to "know"
Archmage Atlantis: It is part of our composition, in general, I think
Zen Arado: yes...always trying to figure things out
Zen Arado: I'm learning to rest in uncertainty
    Archmage Atlantis: That is wisdom
Zen Arado: to just be with the passing show
Zen Arado: allowing it to pass instead of clinging to bits of it
Zen Arado: everything here, now, in this moment
Zen Arado: only problem with that is - we wouldn't have much to say :)
Archmage Atlantis: Agree, the past moment is only memory, the future is only speculation.......although the knowledge of both does serve a purpose in the moment
Zen Arado: and we humans love to talk

Pets and pet ownership - advantages and disadvantages of:

Archmage Atlantis: Even my rl cat likes to talk *g*.......sometimes too much :)
Archmage Atlantis: He seems to expect me to know if he is hungry, wishes to be held, needs his box changed....or is being disturbed by a noise outside
    Archmage Atlantis: *smile*
Zen Arado: cats can be demanding
Zen Arado: I have had a lot of cats as pets through my life
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, all animals are.......especially the ones who have chosen to be with humans
Zen Arado: my last pet was a dog but he died a few years ago
Archmage Atlantis: May I ask, why do you not currently have a pet?...... I can't imagine not at least having some fish.
Zen Arado: where I live isn't a good place for cats
Zen Arado: I am too disabled for a dog
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, I couldn't take care of a dog either
Archmage Atlantis: Though I love them
Zen Arado: I live near a main road on one side and a marina walkway on the other - and lots of people walk doga there all day long
Zen Arado: it wouldn't be fair to the dog
Zen Arado: though I used to walk my dog from an electric wheelchair every day
Zen Arado: and I nursed him when he started having fits
Archmage Atlantis: Agree, your thoughts coincide with mine....I can't walk very far....and all dogs need exercise
Zen Arado: it's a big commitment having a pet
Archmage Atlantis: When I was more able bodied, I worked too much to have a dog and be fair to him
Zen Arado: but I have a cat in SL
    Archmage Atlantis: That counts :)
    Archmage Atlantis: *smile*
Archmage Atlantis: When I was with my partner, we had 3 cats in rl, but he has the younger 2 now
Archmage Atlantis: Black with white socks, cute
Zen Arado: I had a little cat like this when I was a kid
    Archmage Atlantis: Smile
Zen Arado: only she had a white breast too
Zen Arado: maybe I should get a RL cat
Archmage Atlantis: I had dogs until I started working and stopped having time......I've had cats since then......
Zen Arado: it's good for your health to have a pet they say
Zen Arado: cats don't need quite so much attention
Archmage Atlantis: If you can change their box, or someone can do it for you........that's really the only work involved
Zen Arado: yes - though I have a little garden
Archmage Atlantis: Hmmm, I would worry about having a cat going in and out.......outside is a dangerous place for a housecat
Archmage Atlantis: And they will wander about
Zen Arado: true - but they like to get out too
Zen Arado: tom cats tend to wander even if they are neutered
Archmage Atlantis: If they have lived inside their entire lives, they usually aren't too upset to stay in full time in my experience
Zen Arado: hmmm....maybe you are right
Archmage Atlantis: Depends on the cat......most of mine have been male, neutered
Zen Arado: I;ve never had a cat that was kept in all the time
Archmage Atlantis: I've never had one that was allowed to go outside
Archmage Atlantis: My parent's cats were allowed in and out, but that was a more rural setting
Zen Arado: I had a white tom cat for 10 years but he was run over by a car
Archmage Atlantis: And for them, cats were more there to catch mice, than to be pets
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, that happened to 2 of my dogs
Zen Arado: though it was a quiet suburban street I lived in
Zen Arado: I was very upset by that

    Pets and Florida:

Archmage Atlantis: Well, the aligators around here think cats and small dogs are tasty treats
    Archmage Atlantis: ::)
    Zen Arado: oh? you must
    Zen Arado: live in Florida?
    Archmage Atlantis: SW Florida
Archmage Atlantis: yes, on the edge of the Everglades
Zen Arado: I've been there a couple of times
Zen Arado: stayed in Ft Lauderdale and Boca Raton
Archmage Atlantis: I lived in Ft Lauderdale area until last year
    Zen Arado: interesting place
Archmage Atlantis: Now I live near Fort Myers on the other coast
Archmage Atlantis: It is quite a mixture of people, yes
Zen Arado: I live beside a marina - a bit like Ft Lauderdale
Zen Arado: only a lot colder :)
    Zen Arado: http://www.virtualvisit-northernirel...0and%20Leisure
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, we are GMT plus 5, so you must be somewhere near Ireland or England, I assume
    Zen Arado: N.Ireland
Zen Arado: looks like Im going to crash
Zen Arado: I better go anyway
Zen Arado: nice talking to you Arch
Archmage Atlantis: Yes, I have some genetic roots in the Scotch-Irish.......although best I can trace it back, my gggggggrandparents have been in US foreverr
Archmage Atlantis: Have a good day, Zen
Archmage Atlantis: Consider a cat *g*
Archmage Atlantis: I need to go also
    Zen Arado: bye
Archmage Atlantis: Blessings and Namaste, friend
    Archmage Atlantis: bye

What a lovely conversation Zen and Arch, it's a pleasure to read! I side with Arch in recommending a RL cat Zen.If you train your pet to go outside when it's only a kitten, then the cat will learn to come and go, even if it is a housecat. Cats are creatures so beautiful and so comforting to have around!
