stevenaia Michinaga: 11/3/10

2010.11.03 20:00 - Title goes here
The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.
stevenaia Michinaga: hello
stevenaia Michinaga: hello Dash
stevenaia Michinaga: have you been here before?
Dash Earthboy: got it all to yourself tonight huh?
Dash Earthboy: yes I've been here...record away
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks
stevenaia Michinaga: this region just restarted a few minutes ago, so I just fund my way back
Dash Earthboy: ah yes, i saw the announcement when I came in
stevenaia Michinaga: Are you a Quaker?
stevenaia Michinaga: looking at your groups
Dash Earthboy: why yes...is my group title showing?
stevenaia Michinaga: no, I had to look under the hood
Dash Earthboy: oh ok
Dash Earthboy: seems to be the way of PaB'ers
stevenaia Michinaga: I have a number of friends who attend Quaker meetings
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, there is something similar
Dash Earthboy: what is your RL location like tonight?
stevenaia Michinaga: eastern PA
stevenaia Michinaga: u?
Dash Earthboy: a rainy night in Georgia
stevenaia Michinaga: we are expecting you rain for dinner tomorrow
Dash Earthboy: ya i hear you
Dash Earthboy: can't believe how cold Ohio has been though
Dash Earthboy: hope you won't get snow
stevenaia Michinaga: not schedules yet
Dash Earthboy: good
stevenaia Michinaga: that was an unusually timed bell, not on the 1/4 hour
Dash Earthboy: ya, a little off
Dash Earthboy: wonder if the system clock is a little off
stevenaia Michinaga: have you been here often?
Dash Earthboy: not often, and less last couple weeks when I attempted to relocate to Chattanooga
Dash Earthboy: the Quaker group there didn't have any desire to adopt me
stevenaia Michinaga: I was there once to visit carpet plants, seems to be a nice town
stevenaia Michinaga: that seems very unQuaker like
Dash Earthboy: it has much going for it, the town
Dash Earthboy: yes, guess I've been spoiled by earlier Quaker experiences in life
Dash Earthboy: on their website they claim to be affluent
Dash Earthboy: and it was obvious that most were well-to-do
stevenaia Michinaga: you mean the poor not need apply
Dash Earthboy: and the leaders didn't know some of the newer members told me how well they were treated when scouting out the area to relocate
Dash Earthboy: but the best they allowed me was a couple nights on the floor of the meeting house and no help finding my way around nor introducing me
stevenaia Michinaga: well we seem to attract the rich and poor alike here
Dash Earthboy: ya, the poor apparently aren't too welcome
stevenaia Michinaga: rich in tought anyway
stevenaia Michinaga: thought
Dash Earthboy: haha
--BELL--
Dash Earthboy: yes, i own my house here on a couple acres but am in danger of losing it if I can't pay utilities, insurance, and property taxes
stevenaia Michinaga: is there opportunity in Chattanooga?
Dash Earthboy: there was better than here, almost as good as Chicago
stevenaia Michinaga: I spent a few years in Chicago when I was in school, but that was decades ago
Dash Earthboy: understood
Dash Earthboy: I liked the Chicago Quaker mtgs...other activists like me
stevenaia Michinaga: what is your activist focus?
Dash Earthboy: where I am they don't take kindly to one working for peace, social justice, racial equality, fair employment practices, etc
Dash Earthboy: I have been taking in homeless & abused people
stevenaia Michinaga: awww, happy with the status quo
Dash Earthboy: giving them food, shelter (their own room), teaching them life skills (cooking, grooming), taking them to job interviews, teaching them technology skills
Dash Earthboy: the local YMCA turned down my offer to teach technology there on my own equipment when I offered in 1994
stevenaia Michinaga: I've worked with a number of shelters with those sorts of programs
Dash Earthboy: still lots of technophobes here
Dash Earthboy: yes my shelter was my home
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds like you are needed there
stevenaia Michinaga: there are quite a few functioning agencies nearby who provides such services
Dash Earthboy: oh i'm needed but about as wanted as Socrates in Athens or Jesus in Jerusalem
Dash Earthboy: i supported the ministry by working outside in the business community with my technology skills...they turned down my music skills flat
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, that might be a matter of taste rather than need
Dash Earthboy: i worked for awhile in county govt and then they fired me on false accusations and blackballed me for further employment in the area...so it's been tough going for over 10 years
stevenaia Michinaga: any structured corporation or local government and be a difficult place for someone who works outside the box
Dash Earthboy: for sure
stevenaia Michinaga: I have seen that before
Dash Earthboy: and i guess i could have pushed on like Socrates or Jesus and met with similar fate
Dash Earthboy: but I'm not that brave
stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Dash Earthboy: i was trying to remember the E PA town I was in when getting ready to perform as Jim Croce in a roadshow called "Rock & Roll Heaven"
stevenaia Michinaga: how long ago?
Dash Earthboy: south of Harrisburg and I think it was West something
Dash Earthboy: back in 1980
stevenaia Michinaga: west york
Dash Earthboy: nope...has at least two syllables
Dash Earthboy: wish I could think of it...nice place to practice out in the country
Dash Earthboy: hanoverton?
stevenaia Michinaga: hello Arch
Dash Earthboy: west hanoverton?
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds familiar
Dash Earthboy: no ... i don't know
--BELL--
Dash Earthboy: the hour is up huh?
Dash Earthboy: hi Koya
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, and I am sleepie, but please feel free to stick around
Dash Earthboy: guess I'll be off...nice meeting y'all
Archmage Atlantis: Hiya, Steve.....Hello, Dash

Dash Earthboy: good night all
stevenaia Michinaga: bye Arch
Archmage Atlantis: Yea, it's the final moments
Archmage Atlantis: By Stever
