2011.01.11 19:00 - Timing Waking

The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. The comments are by Eos Amaterasu. We decided to keep going with the "what Play as Being means to you now " theme. Toward the bottom oO0Oo has an intriguing comment about Being as the original real love.

    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Paradise!
    Eos Amaterasu: Nice slippers
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Kit
Paradise Tennant: smiles hello eos ..kit :)
    Kit Ciaco: hey
Eos Amaterasu: Have you been here before, to Play as Being, Kit?
Kit Ciaco: yes - several times
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi anemone friend
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Eos, PAradise, Kit, Sophia, ooo00ooo
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi everyone :)
stevenaia Michinaga: how was your nap, PAradie
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi oO0Oo, SophiaSharon
Paradise Tennant: smiles :) at steve :)
stevenaia Michinaga: there is a nice snow comming down here
Paradise Tennant: here too we have a blizzard
    SophiaSharon Larnia: oh Paradise really?
Eos Amaterasu: We will have one here in a day or so
stevenaia Michinaga: we are sending it to you Eos
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Cal
SophiaSharon Larnia hesitent to look out the window atm :)
Calvino Rabeni: Hello Steve, everyone :)
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Wilfrid, Cal
    Wilfrid Resident: Hello.
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya wilfrid ..cal :)
Eos Amaterasu: Have you been to PaB here before, Wilfrid?
    Wilfrid Resident: Yes, I have.
    Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya O
    Paradise Tennant: hiya sophia :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi :)

Eos Amaterasu: There's been a theme session, or sessions, going on the last number of days, on "what is Play as Being", and what does it mean to you now?
Eos Amaterasu: We could continue that, or follow another topic or heart....
Calvino Rabeni: That topic was taken two different ways
Calvino Rabeni: What is Play and Being,
stevenaia Michinaga: I have not yet read the logs
Calvino Rabeni: and what is "Play as Being" as a group to be involved with
SophiaSharon Larnia: feels that the few eeks at PaB has been a reinstatement of purpose, like vows :)
Calvino Rabeni: The second question is like "why am I here"
    SophiaSharon Larnia: last few eeks
    SophiaSharon Larnia: weeks* :)
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, I also felt there were two aspects, with one being the community, and the other the exploration of Play as Being itself
Eos Amaterasu: "why am I here" is an eek!, for sure :-)
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, the group was in effect taking stock of itself recently
Paradise Tennant: listens :) happy to be hear
SophiaSharon Larnia: me too Paradise :D
stevenaia Michinaga: nice that the core still has its original essence
stevenaia Michinaga: it seems to swirl like eddies in a river, but the current is still stong
stevenaia Michinaga: why do I wnat to say Kimosabi after that
    SophiaSharon Larnia: giggles

    --BELL--

SophiaSharon Larnia: quien mas sabe--he who knows more :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Calvino Rabeni: The Me that goes to PlayAsBeing is the same one, *more or less*, that goes to other places and activities, pretty much organizing experience in the same ways...
stevenaia Michinaga: I've been out googled
Calvino Rabeni: but is there a difference.. hmm
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :D hahahahha
Eos Amaterasu: Would you like to do one round of going around the circle, re "what is PaB", or "what is its original essence for you right now?"
    stevenaia Michinaga: sure
    Calvino Rabeni: "
    Kit Ciaco: not really
    Wilfrid Resident: Yes.
Eos Amaterasu: You can "pass" if you want....
    Eos Amaterasu: np
Calvino Rabeni: Or use the turn for something a bit different
    Kit Ciaco: ok
stevenaia Michinaga: pick a direction, Eos
oO0Oo Resident has caught up with the discussion, apologises for busy state, makes lateheart greetings to all

Eos Amaterasu: So clockwise, starting from oO0Oo :-)
    Wilfrid Resident: Hello Samuo
Eos Amaterasu: Would you like to start, oO9Oo?
    Eos Amaterasu: oO0Oo :-)

    oO0Oo
oO0Oo Resident: Well for me, i have not yet experimented with the 9 seconds, but would like to, and am interested in researching more the background of the whole thing, which may be taken in at least two ways. I'm afraid this place and being with pablings has been for me an initial way to find community that feels kindred while entering SL.
    oO0Oo Resident: feeling confluence
    oO0Oo Resident: (done)

    Wilfrid
Wilfrid Resident: Is it my turn?
    Eos Amaterasu: thnx, oO0Oo
    Eos Amaterasu: yes, Wilfrid
Wilfrid Resident: Thank, I do not know much about the community but I like the fact that there are meetings 4 times a day.
Wilfrid Resident: I like conversation and meeting other people
Wilfrid Resident: So I'm looking forward to discover more. Thank you. Done.
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)

    stevenaia
stevenaia Michinaga: I was pndering what I ahve taken from PaB, it is like a great learning center, learning about aspect of myself from others, like filling all the peaces of the stevenaia puzzle that fit, all the spaces are there for the pieces, jsut waiting for them to keep filling in
stevenaia Michinaga: still plenty of spaces to go :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: done
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    oO0Oo Resident: :)

    Eos
Eos Amaterasu: I feel that PaB is mostly about having an open space about oneself, and about oneself with others
Eos Amaterasu: and playing and exploring in such openness, alone and with others,
Eos Amaterasu: with some energy or curiosity about what's happening, how, from whence, to whence (which is maybe more the Being aspect)

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: and all that in an experiential, first hand, way
    Eos Amaterasu: (done)

Eos Amaterasu: (Hi Brian, we're going around the circle, one at a time, exploring what PaB means for us right now)
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Brian

    Paradise
Paradise Tennant: smiles >>> PAB is a like a well .. you are going to a source .. of friendship .. perspective .. knowledge..creativity .. even poetic license ..
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Brian :)
    Brian Roop: hello all
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya brian :)

    Wilfrid Resident: Beautiful Paradise!
Brian Roop: don't let me interrupt the dialog
Paradise Tennant: it is about being with people.. getting to know them ..sharing their ups and downs and traveling down a path together with folks from all around the world
    oO0Oo Resident smiles at paradise
Paradise Tennant: that are sensitive ..to life's richest possibilities :)) to opening a door and living " in the fullness of life"
    Paradise Tennant: done

Eos Amaterasu: Would you like to give it a shot, Kit?
    Kit Ciaco: thanks, no
    Eos Amaterasu: Okay

    Calvino
    Calvino Rabeni: OK
Calvino Rabeni: A couple things ... I like the contemplation and attention practice ... and the cooperative projects that go on behind the scenes with people who've gotten to know one another ...
Calvino Rabeni: and I like to hear "thrilling stories"
Calvino Rabeni: that show people's intelligence and creativity at work
Calvino Rabeni: and learning all the different ways I can be "thrilled"
    Calvino Rabeni: done
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: :0

    SophiaSharon
SophiaSharon Larnia: where I am now in my explorations, is to be honest about my thoughts
SophiaSharon Larnia: and drop the hesitancy and fear I feel about talking about what I think. I've guarded myself so much.
    Calvino Rabeni: *
SophiaSharon Larnia: A small step to authenticity. (first hand view, Eos) :))
    SophiaSharon Larnia: done :)
Eos Amaterasu: Thnx, Sophia. Would you like to say something, Brian?

    Brian
Brian Roop: I don't know that I have a lot to add to what's been said.
Brian Roop: I've found it refreshing to find a place where (mostly) reasoned discourse, sometimes about deeper issues, takes place.
Brian Roop: and i appreciate the 90-second silence times, it helps to gather and order one's thoughts.
    Brian Roop: done.

    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Eos Amaterasu: Thanks Brian, and all!
oO0Oo Resident: :) Brian and Sharon
Eos Amaterasu: Re the 90 seconds here, and 9 seconds (or whatever time) otherwise, at various times, http://wiki.playasbeing.org/About_PlayAsBeing/Basic_Ideas is a nice intro
    Wilfrid Resident: Ah nice...
oO0Oo Resident: I wonder if people with experience have knowledge of how to set up reminders for the 9 seconds when away from a computer.

    --BELL--

Wilfrid Resident: Bookmarked the page, thank you.
Paradise Tennant: used to set my alarm on my watch to beep softly
Paradise Tennant: would make me stop and pause 4 times an hour
stevenaia Michinaga: I think someone wrote an Android app for a phone
    Paradise Tennant: yes
SophiaSharon Larnia: Are you the one who had a phone app Eos??
Paradise Tennant: wol has one that has a church bell chime if I recall correctly
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Eos Amaterasu: Riddle wrote an Android app that does a bell (I haven't used it)
Brian Roop: ahem, are we not in the 90seconds?
Calvino Rabeni: I have an android phone app that could work for that .. and heard one of the playasbeing people wrote another one for that reminder purpose - it was Riddle I think
    Paradise Tennant: oops
    SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry bell
Paradise Tennant: smiles so sorrry bell :) but we were talking about you :)
Eos Amaterasu: I wrote a little web script where people could "check in" just before a 15-minute boundary, and see who else was doing a pause at that time....
    Wilfrid Resident: smiles
SophiaSharon Larnia peeks out the window
Eos Amaterasu: "remembering" is hard, so any kind of tricks that work for you are "fair"
Paradise Tennant: smiles at the brillant eos :) !
oO0Oo Resident: ty everybody, I don't have a phone, but these are good suggestions. Also, I don't have a watch, but your idea paradise is a good one
SophiaSharon Larnia: sometyimes just remembering without the bell is enough
Wilfrid Resident: It doesN't have to be exactly 15 minutes?
SophiaSharon Larnia: when you decide to just remember for a period of time
stevenaia Michinaga: I used to change my breathing when I work... like a sigh... made for a good reminder
Paradise Tennant: bought a chiming clock not too long ago that gongs on the half hours that works too
    stevenaia Michinaga: breathing
Eos Amaterasu: no, doing it by the book, by the clock, is a little bit artificial
Eos Amaterasu: which can help, of course
SophiaSharon Larnia: no Wilfred, exploration for exploration sake :)
    Eos Amaterasu: nice, stevenaia
Brian Roop: means to an end
    Wilfrid Resident: ah good...
oO0Oo Resident: sometimes I use car alarms, to bring my attention home
    SophiaSharon Larnia: hahhaa
Brian Roop: have to start somewhere
oO0Oo Resident: noticing the breath, another good one
Calvino Rabeni: Don't have too many car alarms, but jet flyovers could work
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive had the computer bell for over a year. Its amazing, it will ring every 15 minutes and I'll be so engrossed in something I wont hear it, then suddenly, there it is
Kit Ciaco: Some of us have very accurate internal clocks, Sam - perhaps that might work?
SophiaSharon Larnia: happens all the time
oO0Oo Resident thinks of captain hook and the crocodile
Wilfrid Resident: how do you set a bell on the computer Sophia?
SophiaSharon Larnia: it on the wiki, hold i ll post the link
Kit Ciaco: Google also has an app that you can set to ring every 15 minutes
    Kit Ciaco: westminster chimes
oO0Oo Resident: interesting... internal clock...being...time sapce
Wilfrid Resident: Thank you Kit and Sharon.
    oO0Oo Resident: space*
Kit Ciaco: I'm sure it fluctuates for people....
    oO0Oo Resident: ty Sharon
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    Kit Ciaco: Mine is uncanny....
    oO0Oo Resident: :) Kit
Kit Ciaco: I wonder if that can be cultivated??
Wilfrid Resident: Oh, it doesn't work on Mac its seems... Too bad...
Eos Amaterasu: I think part of the idea is to do it often enough so it becomes not a big deal, not a sudden 9 second hole you fall into
SophiaSharon Larnia: an OT therapist count 15 seconds for me yesterday and was exactly right
SophiaSharon Larnia: (i was checking a pulse) that was uncanny hehe
Kit Ciaco: that's what I'm talking about....
    SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
    oO0Oo Resident: hehe Sharon
Kit Ciaco: I think we all have this, but perhaps some of ours are more accurate through either nature or practice, I'm not sure
    oO0Oo Resident: practice... yes
Kit Ciaco: But there's also something to be said for doing until done doing
Kit Ciaco: especially in solo practice
Wilfrid Resident: I alkways wake upo without a clock, so maybe it can work for that too.à
    Kit Ciaco: yes, Wil
Kit Ciaco: I can actually set myself to wake up at a certain time when I go to sleep
    Kit Ciaco: and then, *POOF*
    Kit Ciaco: it happens
Wilfrid Resident: Works for me like that too.
oO0Oo Resident looks around for Ari
SophiaSharon Larnia: :) something's awake in there when we're asleep ;p
Kit Ciaco: It's a type of self hyponosis, which can be cultivated with practice
Paradise Tennant: smiles can you do that to dream too kit ?
    Kit Ciaco: I think so
Kit Ciaco: I think in some ways we wake up best when we are "asleep"
    Paradise Tennant: so lucid dreaming
Kit Ciaco: I have with some success
Kit Ciaco: but not as consistently
Paradise Tennant: what is it like ?
Kit Ciaco: I've crawled back into dreams that were interrupted
Kit Ciaco: that's sort of fun
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive done it but not cultivated it
Kit Ciaco: but as I say, it's not something I do consistently
Kit Ciaco: the internal alarm clock, yes -
SophiaSharon Larnia: (waking at a certain time)
Kit Ciaco: but only because I despise the sound of alarm clocks
    SophiaSharon Larnia: ooh yes
    Wilfrid Resident: Me too!
Kit Ciaco: waking up to my own internal one is just more pleasant
    SophiaSharon Larnia: how rude :D
    Kit Ciaco: LOL!
Kit Ciaco: yes, Sophie - don't you just hate those high pitched DEEPBEEPBEEPs!!!!!
    Kit Ciaco: YOWZA!
    Wilfrid Resident: smiles
SophiaSharon Larnia: wake up on a bad foot
oO0Oo Resident: recapturing interupted dream story continuity is an interesting boundary state to encounter
    Calvino Rabeni: Yeah
    Paradise Tennant: listens
Kit Ciaco: My internal alarm is more gentle - it just sort of shakes me slowly, and says, "Kit, Dear, time to get your hiney up...."
Paradise Tennant: like weaving a plot

    --BELL--

SophiaSharon Larnia: i find that when it divergess and gets ...different.. part hypnogogic
SophiaSharon Larnia: sorry bell again, was an accident
Kit Ciaco: Thank ya'll for your time!
Eos Amaterasu: (I have to leave, but please carry on)
Brian Roop: I will bid you good night, i'm falling asleep at the keyboard
oO0Oo Resident: Bye Kit, take care
Wilfrid Resident: have to go. Very nice place. Thank you and goodnight everyone!
    Eos Amaterasu: Bye Kit, Wilifred
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Kit and Wilfrid, bye Eos and Brian
Paradise Tennant: smiles well speaking of getting up ..think I will scoot :) namaste my friends breathe well dream well :)
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: Bye wil
    stevenaia Michinaga: night all
Paradise Tennant: good nite all :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye stevenia, paradise and bye all as well.... :D
    SophiaSharon Larnia: waves
Calvino Rabeni: They're poofing like bubblewrap :)
oO0Oo Resident: Hard for me to keep track of all the goodbyes in those flourishing exits
Calvino Rabeni: Heard any interesting stories lately?
oO0Oo Resident: when becoming a little more conscious within a dream, I notice, the openness and freedom, at the same time as any arising attachment to storyline within the dream.
Calvino Rabeni: um, well to re-enter a dream takes handling attachments carefully
oO0Oo Resident: Then the trick of relaxing as a kind of technique to make the storline continue where it left off, is very subtle, and rarely works hehe
    Calvino Rabeni: it is subtle
oO0Oo Resident: because the attachment can't be fooled
Calvino Rabeni: I think I know what you mean
    oO0Oo Resident: wondrous really
Calvino Rabeni: I found a dream space with a kind of library or depot in it
Calvino Rabeni: which had all the other dreams I've had - actually just a large number
Calvino Rabeni: and I found I could reenter any of them
oO0Oo Resident: sounds like store consciousness
Calvino Rabeni: maybe, I haven't heard the term
Calvino Rabeni: I didn't sustain the access though,
Calvino Rabeni: over a couple weeks I entered a few times
Calvino Rabeni: but the "true name" of the place has been replaced by another name
Calvino Rabeni: so it's hard to find now
Calvino Rabeni: although I believe it to be there still
oO0Oo Resident: how was the name replaced
Calvino Rabeni: to me it was the same skill as re-entry of a normal dream
Calvino Rabeni: except in more generality
Calvino Rabeni: I think the name was replaced by an attachment
Calvino Rabeni: like - the memory instead of the consciousness
oO0Oo Resident: I wonder if the attachment is also on the shelf in there as well
Calvino Rabeni: its a little like when you discover an open field of possibility with another person
Calvino Rabeni: and then later it gets replaced
Calvino Rabeni: by a habit of doing the external memory aspects of that experience, the actions and habits, but not the consciousness state
oO0Oo Resident: I feel an invitation to boundless love when you say that, but ofcourse, in saying this, I already pave over the spark
    Calvino Rabeni: (laughs)
    Calvino Rabeni: astro turf
    oO0Oo Resident: hehehehe
    Calvino Rabeni: attachment to love

    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: whereas the original real love took place in a more radically open state, where there seemed to be more at stake
Calvino Rabeni: The attachment of memory
Calvino Rabeni: or of wanting to have a particular experience
Calvino Rabeni: instead of "being" experience
Calvino Rabeni: subtle attachments, but powerful, or so it seems to me
Calvino Rabeni: I don't know the relevant buddhist psychology, if there is some

oO0Oo Resident: so, is being, the original 'real' love?
    oO0Oo Resident: unconditional acceptence?
oO0Oo Resident: without subject or object?
oO0Oo Resident: from which this playground arises?

Calvino Rabeni: I don't think so, I think it goes beyond acceptance (although that the base) and that subjects and objects are fine if one doesn't identify with them
    oO0Oo Resident: goes beyond?
    Calvino Rabeni: Hello, Roland
    oO0Oo Resident: Hi Roland
    oO0Oo Resident: I don't see Roland

Calvino Rabeni: What's the experience or relationship of unconditional acceptance?
Calvino Rabeni: Roland rezzed and poofed :)
Calvino Rabeni: It has some active qualities that aren't part of the typical connotations in the word "acceptance"
oO0Oo Resident: being without push or pull Cal?
Calvino Rabeni: I would say, not without anything ... except attachment
Calvino Rabeni: so plenty of push or pull but it's not compulsory
oO0Oo Resident: yet it happens naturally
oO0Oo Resident: so seeing attachment would seem rather worthwhile, or helpful
    oO0Oo Resident: along the way
    Calvino Rabeni: seems like it
oO0Oo Resident: Note to readers of wiki: ty for all the good advice about reminders of 9 sec, 90 sec, breath, awareness.
Calvino Rabeni: the seeing like balancing on the razor edge of "to be or not to be" and able to go either way
Calvino Rabeni: being attached to nonattachment could be a problem

    --BELL--

oO0Oo Resident: that could be a thrilling story
oO0Oo Resident slips out with feeling of appreciation..
Calvino Rabeni: extremely thrilling .. yes and how?
    Calvino Rabeni: Take care oO0Oo
    Calvino Rabeni: Thanks :)
