    Bleu Oleander: hiya Storm
    Storm Nordwind: Good morning Bleu!
Bleu Oleander: how is your summer in the mtns?
    Bleu Oleander: hi Ari
Storm Nordwind: Delightful now, thank you
Arisia Vita: Hi Bleu and Storm
Storm Nordwind: At least now the fires have extinguished
    Bleu Oleander: 114 here
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Ari :)
    Storm Nordwind: Right now?!
Bleu Oleander: no high for the dat
    Bleu Oleander: day
Bleu Oleander: in the 90's though now
Storm Nordwind: 66 here now. Forecast for 94.
Bleu Oleander: it's 94 now here
Storm Nordwind: Soon be below zero here ;)
    Bleu Oleander: ha! yes

    Let "Companionship" be the theme.

Storm Nordwind: So is there supposed to be a theme this week? I must admit I've only kept a very light contact for a few days.
Bleu Oleander: hmmm not sure I know what the theme is this week
    Arisia Vita: me either
Bleu Oleander: must not have been paying attention
Arisia Vita: I come for the companionship...that's my theme
Storm Nordwind: In that heat, you are excused!
    Bleu Oleander: ty!
Storm Nordwind: Good answer Ari :)
Bleu Oleander: companionship ... nice theme?

    Anniversaries.

Storm Nordwind: Apposite as this is a week of anniversaries for me :)
    Bleu Oleander: what anniversaries?
Arisia Vita: what are you celebrating?
Storm Nordwind: Monday was 3 years since immigrating. Tuesday was my 3rd wedding anniversary. Today is five and a half years since Mrs. Storm and I first met - here in Second Life
    Bleu Oleander: wow
    Arisia Vita: congratulations
    Storm Nordwind: Thank you :))
    Bleu Oleander: yes, congratulations !!
Storm Nordwind: And I feel we are the very best companions for each other. We are exceedingly fortunate. :)
Arisia Vita: so you married the day after you immigrated?
    Storm Nordwind: yes!
    Arisia Vita: wonderful
Storm Nordwind: No sense in messing around
    Bleu Oleander: very fortunate indeed
Storm Nordwind: My visa was a fiance visa, which meant we had to marry within a certain time limit
Bleu Oleander: do you still visit sl as a couple now?
Arisia Vita: bring your wife to PaB
Storm Nordwind: We are sometimes together in our beach house
Storm Nordwind: But I am in SL far more than she is
    Arisia Vita: welcome Hana
    Bleu Oleander: hi Hana :)
Bleu Oleander: nice to see you!
Storm Nordwind: Greetings Hana! Long time no see (for me at least) :))
    Hana Furlough: Hi Bleu!
Hana Furlough: Hi Storm -- yes long time no see!
    Hana Furlough: Hi Ari!
    --BELL--

What forest bears but a single tree?

Storm Nordwind: So... to take up Ari's theme (of companionship)... do we know what it is? What makes for a good companion? :)
    Bleu Oleander: good questions
Arisia Vita: as usual, I have a quote....
Arisia Vita: What forest bears but a single tree? Even in inanimate nature a certain love of companionship is apparent and thrives in society with its own kind. And surely in animate life who cannot easily see how clearly the picture of friendship is, and the image of society and love? For, although in other respects animals are rated irrational, yet they imitate man in this regard to such an extent that we believe they act with reason. How they run after one another, play with one another and betray their love by sound and movement. So eagerly do they enjoy their mutual company, that they seem to prize nothing else so much as they do whatever pertains to friendship. - Tenth Century abbot, Aelred of Rievaulx
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Storm Nordwind: Nice quote - thank you!
    Arisia Vita: yw

    What about hermits?

Storm Nordwind: So how does that square with those who prefer to live like hermits?
    Hana Furlough: very nice!
Hana Furlough: i think even hermits have companions
Arisia Vita: I would ask it this way, do hermits like the company of other hermits?
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Hana Furlough: sometimes human, sometimes in nature
Bleu Oleander: hermits like the company of nature perhaps
Storm Nordwind: I think many who are not hermits also like the company of nature
Bleu Oleander: they are their own best company perhaps
Storm Nordwind: It's interesting... reminds me of the silent days at retreats - which I was never particularly in favor of, as I spend so much time during the day alone anyway
Arisia Vita: You may be by yourself, but you ever truly alone?
    Arisia Vita: but are
Storm Nordwind: Ah... that's a good question. For me, I am never really alone. But again I am fortunate.
Bleu Oleander: I have felt alone in NYC and have felt in the best company sometimes when by myself
Storm Nordwind: I suspect NYC is notorious for that!
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: even though many people one can feel alone

    What is companionship?

Bleu Oleander: so what is it ... companionship?
    Bleu Oleander: a social connectedness?
    Bleu Oleander: a special bond?
Storm Nordwind: "social connectedness" means a more mysterious term for me than companionship! ;)
    Bleu Oleander: say more?
Storm Nordwind: I'm just not really sure what "social connectedness" means.
Storm Nordwind: I think companionship implies a willingness to communicate at levels appropriate for the other person.
    --BELL--
Storm Nordwind: And the communication need not be verbal, nor constant. Also a predisposition of kindness toward the other.
Bleu Oleander: perhaps its communication on a number of levels with a fuller understanding of each other?
    Arisia Vita: welcome boxy
Storm Nordwind: yes. Understanding is key. And the willingness to understand

    Dogs as companions.

    Storm Nordwind waves to Alfred
    Bleu Oleander: hi mighty one
Arisia Vita: speaking of companions, here comes another one
Hana Furlough: (sneaks out to go to bed -- thanks all!)
    Storm Nordwind: Bye Hana!
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Alfred Kelberry: rainbow goddess :)
    Bleu Oleander: night Hana
    Bleu Oleander: mighty pup
Arisia Vita: lots of dogs are considered to be good companions
Bleu Oleander: yes, I have 2
Arisia Vita: lucky you, and them
Bleu Oleander: wanting to play football atm
Storm Nordwind does not have a good recipe ;)

    Pics.

Alfred Kelberry: storm, btw, nice pic you posted in the group email [http://i.imgur.com/1L8oB.jpg]
Storm Nordwind: On the mountain top? thank you :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Alfred Kelberry: keep it up :)
Storm Nordwind: What the posting? or traveling to high mountains?
    Alfred Kelberry: both :)
Alfred Kelberry: it's nice to see fellow pabians habitats
    Storm Nordwind nods and smiles
Bleu Oleander: must go ... pups dropping footballs at my feet :)
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
Storm Nordwind: haha - ok bye!
    Bleu Oleander: bye for now
Storm Nordwind: (as long as that's all they're dropping)
    Bleu Oleander: haha
    Arisia Vita: :)
Arisia Vita: I too will need to leave soon to hug my rl companion...
Storm Nordwind: No problem. Just mellow relaxation here anyway :)
Alfred Kelberry: btw, seen a nice pic today :) http://i.imgur.com/xVcQ8.jpg
Arisia Vita: I will leave you two to your joys then, and hope to see you both again soon
    Alfred Kelberry: very telling
Alfred Kelberry: thank you, ari :)
Arisia Vita: ty for being my companions today
Arisia Vita: bye for a bit
Storm Nordwind: Our pleasure I'm sure Ari :)
    Storm Nordwind waves
    Arisia Vita: ty
Storm Nordwind: What do you see in the picture Alfred?
    Alfred Kelberry: apple craze
Storm Nordwind: or perhaps how they see themselves, as civilizing the "great unwashed"
Alfred Kelberry: if you're in school and want to be cool - buy a macbook :)
Alfred Kelberry: otherwise you suck and have no style
    Storm Nordwind: Surely not
    Alfred Kelberry: or creativity
    Storm Nordwind: Pft
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

    Corporate Olympics.

Alfred Kelberry: oh, also, the olympics: http://i.imgur.com/P7b2K.jpg
Storm Nordwind: Not sure of the relevance of that one
    --BELL--
Alfred Kelberry: it's how sponsors strangle the olympic spirit and consumer rights in a rush for greed
Storm Nordwind: I have to say, after switching to the direct feed from the BBC, I haven't noticed any sponsor stuff, or any ads
Alfred Kelberry: there's a special team of wifi police hired by verizon to shut down any wifi spots on the olympics venues. even if you decide to tether your own laptop.
Alfred Kelberry: if you own a mastercard and have no cash, you're out of luck on any olympics objects, as visa made sure for only their cards to be accepted
Alfred Kelberry: there are colorful boards that say: we're proud to only accept visa
Storm Nordwind: I just watch the sports. I don't feel a need to buy stuff
Alfred Kelberry: ok, and the last one is my favorite - a non-conformist bird :) http://i.imgur.com/byO0Z.jpg
    Storm Nordwind smiles
Alfred Kelberry: on this joyful note, i'll be off
Storm Nordwind: Thank you for sharing your joy!
Alfred Kelberry: be well, mr storm
    Storm Nordwind: You too!
    Storm Nordwind waves
