Bruce Mowbray: and they STILL have not announced a winner for it.
Bruce Mowbray: 1,600 vote separation, I think.
Riddle Sideways: do you think there will be a recount?
Bruce Mowbray: Provisional ballots will be counted 12 days after Election Day.
Bruce Mowbray: I doubt it.
Riddle Sideways: what is a provisional ballot?
Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm... I think they are individuals who show up at polls without proper ID's or proper registration. . . something like that.
Bruce Mowbray: They can vote, but not get counted for 12 days.
Bruce Mowbray: also, absentee ballots are not yet counted.
Bruce Mowbray: most of those will probably be military though.
Bruce Mowbray: (so probably GOP).
Bruce Mowbray: The recount will be triggered if the separation is .5% or less.

Bruce Mowbray: and has always gone Republican - except for two years.
Bruce Mowbray: so being this close a race forebodes a Blue Flood come November.

Bruce Mowbray: and there are some 60 districts throughout the country that are far less GOP that also went for Trump....
Bruce Mowbray: so those are probably even more likely to flip than Ohio's 12th.

Bruce Mowbray: always stay at the Hostelling International Youth Hostel on 103rd Street ....
Bruce Mowbray: I'd always go the third week in May and the last week in September.
Bruce Mowbray: Ideal weather, then.
Riddle Sideways: always stay up in Westchester

Riddle Sideways: it is hot and smelly in summer in the city
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, it surely is.
Bruce Mowbray: Cities hold the heat a lot more than rural areas do.
Bruce Mowbray: In Ohio that difference can be as much as ten degrees (difference) in the early evening.
Bruce Mowbray: also less wind.
Riddle Sideways: and NYC has a garbage issue
Bruce Mowbray: I got a new drone.

Bruce Mowbray: I flew it twice today for the first time and really like it.

Bruce Mowbray: I like it a LOT more than the DJI Phantom 4 Pro
Riddle Sideways: a case and backpack and a great camera
Bruce Mowbray: and it cost about half as much.
Bruce Mowbray: Yep.

Bruce Mowbray: Yep.
Riddle Sideways: are there auto-exposure settings?
Bruce Mowbray: There are... but I prefer to set aperture manually and everything else auto to follow that.
Bruce Mowbray: also I shoot at 60 frames per second.
Riddle Sideways: smooth
Bruce Mowbray: The problem with auto exposure is that if you have a lot of sky in the frame, it will tend to make all of the land too dark.
Riddle Sideways: oh, the corn was already dark
Bruce Mowbray: Tilting the camera toward the land more helps that, of course.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I had not yet set the exposure for this drone.
Riddle Sideways: you were already a practiced pilot
Bruce Mowbray: I've done that now, so the second video is much improved with that.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I've had the DJI drone for two weeks.
Bruce Mowbray: don't know if that makes me "practiced" or not.
Bruce Mowbray: I know my way around the joysticks.

Bruce Mowbray: The rest of the settings are new to me, though.
Bruce Mowbray: This new drone's joystick control is far superior to DJI's IMHO.
Bruce Mowbray: less jerkiness, ....
Riddle Sideways: trying to fly a quadcopter simulator on tablet has been dangerous
Bruce Mowbray: all-in-all, better.
Bruce Mowbray: Oh yes.
Bruce Mowbray: It does take some practice.
Bruce Mowbray: I practiced in the narrow space of my front yard....
Riddle Sideways: from microscopes to drones
Bruce Mowbray: This new drone has NO object avoidance systems.... like the DJI did (on four sides and the bottom.)
Riddle Sideways: oh, so you have to be careful
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, microscopes for winter and rainy days; drones for summer and fair days.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, but I like taking control of the flight.
Bruce Mowbray: I'm also landing manually rather than on auto.
Bruce Mowbray: This new drone does not seem to have as accurate a Return to Home mode as the other one does.
Bruce Mowbray: The other one (DJI Phantom 4 Pro) landed automatically within inches of where it launched.
Riddle Sideways: the Follow Mode might hit trees?
Bruce Mowbray: Any mode might hit trees if you're not high enough.
Bruce Mowbray: including Return to Home.

Bruce Mowbray: so long as you're not spying on them or doing something else illegal (like dropping drugs or explosives).
