    As a historian I have often wondered about how people, who just were trying to live their lives, coped with events that were swirling around them.

    Adams Rubble: busy week next week

    Adams Rubble: in NJ can call the night before and if they do not need people one can be excused
    Riddle Sideways: on a Thursday? are you on a panel?
    Adams Rubble: not yet
    Riddle Sideways: thought it usually Mondays. it is here
    Adams Rubble: in NJ it is one day unless you get on a panel
    Adams Rubble: can be any day of the week
    Riddle Sideways: sure
    Riddle Sideways: have phone call in check also. is nice that can check Friday thru weekend for the Monday
    Adams Rubble: ohh yes, nice
    Riddle Sideways: for years only one of the 2 courts had it
    Adams Rubble: my first time I had to go two weeks and then got on a jury the last friday afternoon
    Adams Rubble: glad they have made it more humane
    Riddle Sideways: thinking about sailing, safe harbors, Being boats at sea and Procol Harum's A Salty Dog

    Adams Rubble had to put up with Trump on the local NYC news for years and years

    Riddle Sideways: thinking that would be about 2+ Billion in gold to be big enough to see from space
    Riddle Sideways: yesterday's Fresh Aire show was about the Spiro Agnew indictment and ejection at the exact same time Nixon was being investigated

    Adams Rubble: when I think of Agnew I think of Kent State and the awful things he said

    Riddle Sideways: It was the Best of generations, it was the worst of generations
    Adams Rubble: there were things hidden under the surface they did not tel us
    Adams Rubble: they did not tell us about Joe Mcarthy
    Adams Rubble: They did not tell us about the lynchings
    Riddle Sideways: nope, never told us, never taught us. learned ourselves
    Riddle Sideways: and were shocked
    Riddle Sideways: and yelled, screamed and went a different way
    Adams Rubble: and then some of those 50s and sixties kids became tea partyers
    Adams Rubble: and now are the backbone of trump supporters
    Adams Rubble: so many myths
    Riddle Sideways: still shaking the stew pot

    Adams Rubble: drank the patriarchy koo aid
    Adams Rubble: kool aid
    Riddle Sideways: learned the week's hit song to play at the next gig. then wondered what those lyrics might mean. then had value shook

    Riddle Sideways: big one, was standing in a line, holding somebodies hand for an hour

    Riddle Sideways: turn and start conversation
    Riddle Sideways: with a real person that had never talked to
    Riddle Sideways: a real person that looked like 'Those'
    Riddle Sideways: tjat were not to be talked to
    Riddle Sideways: who taught that 'They' were not to be talked to?
    Riddle Sideways: a 'They' became one of best friends
    Riddle Sideways: a 'They' taught of the 'Other' side
    Riddle Sideways: a good Bapist boy, an A-student, good to his momma, a never swore
    Riddle Sideways: declared "ain't gonna fight in 'Your' war"
    Riddle Sideways: then the evil thing of sneaking off to meet other 'They'(s)
    Riddle Sideways: and the evil Learning
    Riddle Sideways: now can't Unlearn that
    Riddle Sideways: how can some of that generation unlearn the lessons?
    Adams Rubble: it takes wiork to unlearn
    Riddle Sideways: sorry, (well not really) for going off like this
    Adams Rubble: when finds some answers to the perplexities and a place of unlearning it is very rewarding
    Riddle Sideways: all those kids that were taught Their Religion and stumbled over some detail
    Adams Rubble: In my case no one to tell me not to worry that it was OK
    Riddle Sideways: all those girls that grew up the Amerikan ideal to become anything. As long as it was a housewife

    Adams Rubble: well what i said was not wuite right; there were those who told me not to worry but could not point me in the right direction
    Riddle Sideways: all those kids that grew up to not look like the White privledged kids on TV
    Adams Rubble: I do want to note that my blog entry ended up in a pretty upbeat place
    Riddle Sideways: prev gen went to war because it was Right
    Riddle Sideways: oh, darn have not finished the read
    Adams Rubble: there are some things we learned that led to the values we have today
    Adams Rubble: I think there is value in sorting them out
    Riddle Sideways: Yes, agree.
    Riddle Sideways: was raised the best they could
    Riddle Sideways: sheltered until could think for self
    Riddle Sideways: then sort it out
    Adams Rubble: our parents suffered from the patriarchy
    Adams Rubble: and their parents
    Riddle Sideways: then yelled at for not having sorted it the way they wanted
    Riddle Sideways: maybe Dr. Spock taught 'Spare the rod and they shall whip themselves later" ;)
    Adams Rubble: Luther did a lot of whipping of himself
    Riddle Sideways: a wise guy
    Riddle Sideways: well, have a busy day ahead. Have to whip self, get depressed, listen to more News, generate more garbage, put more bugs into software, etc. etc. so Sad
    Adams Rubble: I apologize if I got you off track
