    2009.08.10 01:00 - Emotions, what curiosity!

Yakuzza Lethecus: but in the end I believe happiness is an decision" :)

     Later...

Gaya Ethaniel: A guardian here often says "Whatever arises, arises perfectly."

    2009.08.10 07:00 - Nature, of Identity

Kallie Kira: I was thinking about watching thoughts come and then go, having them pop up and then release
Kallie Kira: I was listening to a jazz trio the other night ....
Kallie Kira: at an upstairs place with a big picture window that looked out on the city
Kallie Kira: and the door was open with the breeze coming up the stairwell
Kallie Kira: and outside, in the breeze was a beautifully formed tree
Kallie Kira: that as the music played would dance back and forth
Kallie Kira: and my thoughts, coming and going
Kallie Kira: would dance from branch to branch, waving around
Kallie Kira: then go to the sky on the breeze
Kallie Kira: totally does not make sense but there you have it
Kallie Kira: and one of the thoughts I had and let go was
Kallie Kira: that I have been kind of floating along a lot recently
    Kallie Kira: doing my thing
Kallie Kira: but often seeing and then seeing something else
Kallie Kira: not attached to any of it
Kallie Kira: my own branches kind of dancing and letting things hop place to place
Kallie Kira: then not caring, just letting it go, maybe into the air to another tree
    Kallie Kira: it is awesome
Pema Pera: I can feel the branches swaying, Kal, what a great description!
Kallie Kira: it was amazing, like a dance performed for me to Charlie Parker's music ... it was gorgeous
Kallie Kira: so, not really doing 9sec exactly but feeling the space of it
    Pema Pera: :)
    sophia Placebo: lovely

    2009.08.10 13:00 - Aloha to that

Eliza Madrigal: This morning in the mail, came a letter from a friend I've known since preschool... someone who was like a twin to me for many years.. someone I still feel connected to but haven't seen/spoken to in years. She cannot reconcile my not being "Christian" since at one time (more than 16 years ago) we were very involved within that paradigm together, and very 'sincere'. She does not understand. She is chained in some ways, to our past, or the picture she has of me. Her paradigm does not allow for me to change and our still to be close/intimate friends. :( But obviously she misses me or she wouldn't write :)
    Eliza Madrigal: (Sory so long)
Alexandra Sharkfin: I just dropped by for a second
Pila Mulligan: so sweet and sor ELiza
    Pila Mulligan: sour*
Eliza Madrigal: I've spent a few hours today responding to her... asking to speak from heart rather than conditions
Gaya Ethaniel: Perhaps it needs time for adjustment Eliza.
    Eliza Madrigal: We'll see I suppose :)
Hana Furlough: that sounds like a tough situation, eliza
    Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Tough, but she did write :)
    Bertram Jacobus: np alex :-)
Tarmel Udimo: yes from the heart always best Eliza:)
Hana Furlough: yeah that is a wonderful thing!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Just sharing
    Gaya Ethaniel: Thank you :)

    2009.08.10 19:00 - Gruntled

Hana Furlough: but is enlightenment a practice or a continuous state?

Paradise Tennant: hmmm kind of a portal of perception that once your really see .. forever changes your perception would be my guess

Fox Monacular: roshi Joan Halifax said that enlightenment is a state of absolune unselfishness

Paradise Tennant: but very easy to take monkey mind breaks

    Paradise Tennant: :)

    Paradise Tennant: very restful too

    Fox Monacular: yes, definitely

    Hana Furlough: good point

doug Sosa: i think - controversial - that enlightenment is pure mind without feelings. It is devloid of humanity or compassion. It is isness without anything else. it is a computer waiting to wait.

    Paradise Tennant: hmm

Hana Furlough: or just absolute compassion

    Paradise Tennant: absolute connectedness

    Hana Furlough: yeah

Hana Furlough: connectedness because you are everything and everything is you

Threedee Shepherd: Is it pure mind without feelings, or pure experience without mind?

    Paradise Tennant: yes

doug Sosa: and that is the universe and it is itself.

Paradise Tennant: you are everything and everything is you .. such powerful words hana

    Hana Furlough: its thusness

Fox Monacular: my monkey mind needs to rest... I've got to go sleep now, nice talking to you all

    Hana Furlough: haha nice!

    2009.08.11 07:00 - Watching Thought filters

Riddle Sideways: we zoom right along and several words come out that we di not really plan
Riddle Sideways: many times it is the word/phrase that the listener knows/needs
Riddle Sideways: and a meta wonders how/why did you do that

    2009.08.11 19:00 - Releasing the Future

Eos Amaterasu: I take these walks through our nearby woods
Lingerer Xaris: that sounds incredible. i miss doing things like that
Eos Amaterasu: and they were somewhat inspired by the story of Dogen and his Chinese teacher
Eos Amaterasu: who said "body and mind are dropped?"
Eos Amaterasu: and Dogen said "body and mind are indeed dropped"
Eos Amaterasu: (or maybe it was the other way around)
Hana Furlough: how do you experience that?
Eos Amaterasu: somehow I try to walk like that
    Hana Furlough: nice
Eos Amaterasu: appreciating body and mind, and also letting go of both

Lingerer Xaris: the phrase 'no more theories' rang through my head one night, and i have been using it as a mantra
    Lingerer Xaris: thank you, Eos
Lingerer Xaris: it is incredible, this experience of being. how the awareness moves to levels of consciousness, and then back to objects in the world
Lingerer Xaris: I find it really scary sometimes when I grasp that there is nothing to gain in life.
Lingerer Xaris: meaning, no way to accumulate
    Eos Amaterasu: Ah! :-) Yikes!
Lingerer Xaris: ahhhhh...i'm having trouble articulating
Lingerer Xaris: to accumulate being, i guess
Lingerer Xaris: being just is, and time passes
Hana Furlough: yeah the more i practice the more i find that all we really want is to be fully in the now
Hana Furlough: that happiness is not what our minds think it is
    Lingerer Xaris: right
Lingerer Xaris: but still, the more i appreciate my present moments, the more i sometimes feel a fleeting sadness and how quickly it all passes
Eos Amaterasu: there's a kind of paradoxical discipline of staying in that place without pushing or pulling yourself, over intending yourself

Eos Amaterasu: Hana, you started asking about lack of ethical imperatives
Lingerer Xaris: I have been thinking about the idea of shared being
    Hana Furlough: yeah
Hana Furlough: i'm kind of interested in that
Hana Furlough: like there is the vinaya in most schools of buddhism
Hana Furlough: but PaB lacks any such system
Hana Furlough: what do you think about that?
Eos Amaterasu: I cannot recommend highly enough Francisco Varela's very short, brilliant Ethical Know-How: Action, Wisdom and Cognition
Hana Furlough: that question is for both of you btw
Hana Furlough: wow this looks incredible
Eos Amaterasu: I think that the heart of being embodies ethical know-how
    Lingerer Xaris: i hear that
Eos Amaterasu: (like the buddhists find emptiness and compassion to be indivisible)
Hana Furlough: but to the untrained eye, such actions may appear to violate ethical precepts
Eos Amaterasu: suspending your own personal intention, or recognizing it, seems key
Hana Furlough: but is intention always bad?
    Eos Amaterasu: not at all!
Hana Furlough: and are Being's dynamism and personal intention always mutually exclusive?
Eos Amaterasu: but I think it does need examination, through not just intellectual examination but also appreciation and letting be
    Hana Furlough: i agree

Eos Amaterasu: ideally your personal intention and the "way" are not two (wu wei)

    2009.08.12 07:00 - Domenica Bestiale

Qt Core: i just remembered these liric from a song: if only you know, my love \how much i love to depart from Milan \ when she [milan] still sleeps \ see her sleepy and notice she is beautiful \ before she start to scream and run
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh My!
Eliza Madrigal: What is the song?
Qt Core: it is italian, Domenica bestiale.... Beasty sunday
Qt Core: a tale about him going to the lake with his love
    Eliza Madrigal: what an image
Eliza Madrigal: especially considering the stillness of the morning before the chaos begins...
Qt Core: very sweet in spite of the title ;-)
    Eliza Madrigal: yes, funny title
Qt Core: (not my kind of song but i like it)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: This, is a rather still morning... maybe can take that through the day
Eliza Madrigal: (for me, now sure what time it is for you?)
    --BELL--
    Eliza Madrigal: *not
    Qt Core: 17
    Qt Core: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7xvjXc5kmk
    Qt Core: (the song)
    Qt Core: op
Eliza Madrigal: yes, listening... very nice to dance to
Eliza Madrigal: thanks... and might help you to feel restful as the evening goes on, so you sleep well :)
Qt Core: :-) yes, it has a quite happy in a quiet way feeling
Eliza Madrigal: Now, the title seems even more odd... such a calm song
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Qt Core: Bestiale (beasty) could be used sometimes as great but to a even bigger degree
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, that helps
    Eliza Madrigal: Grand or writ-large?
Qt Core: not often, the title stil is a little weird ;-)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah

    2009.08.12 19:00 - Chemically imbalanced evening

stevenaia Michinaga: you were saying "Isadora Davidov: I was wondering if the word "accept" means "being with"...sometimes if you can "be with" the experience for some time..it changes"

    Hana Furlough: it's true

Hana Furlough: but don't yo think some situations warrant a more committed sort of optimism

Isadora Davidov: Lingerer ...you know it just occurred to me that I was in a "giving advice" mode...hmm..perhaps not so useful...but then again...?

Hana Furlough: like a refusal to believe our thoughts that does beyond just appreciating?

Isadora Davidov: For me, I have to be careful that what pops up in my mind is not necessarily "real".

    Bellily Millar: good point, isadora

    stevenaia Michinaga: "real"

stevenaia Michinaga: what makes a thought real or not

Bellily Millar: i don't think our thoughts are always our own, that we don't have to claim everything that pops into our heads

Hana Furlough: well we certainly don't have to identify with them

Bellily Millar: no, that's where our free choice comes in

    Hana Furlough: right
