The theme for today is BALANCE.
We live in a world of ever-changing conditions and forces.
A dynamic interplay. Perhaps Balance is a verb, and life is a BALANCING ACT.
One way of thinking about how things work is to look polarities, name them, and maybe even put them in opposition - EITHER/OR thinking. If we do this then we may be tempted to take sides and value one more than the other.
Is BIG better than SMALL? It depends on the need and intention. If moving is important, maybe BIG is better. If precision is important, maybe SMALL is better.
Another way of thinking is to look at how extremes are really part of a dynamic whole. This might be called BOTH/AND thinking. But wait - this asks us to look at what encompasses these extremes. Then the idea of a whole, or circle comes in. There's summer and winter, but really there's a complete cycle of the seasons.
There's no such "thing" as balance in the abstract, but it shows up in the particular conditions of our lives, in each moment, and over time. What does it mean to be balanced in the moment, or unbalanced? What does it mean over time? Is it meaningful to live a "balanced" life?
In what different ways does BALANCE appear your life and activities? What ~WHOLEs are involved? Are there some puzzles, some lessons to be learned by contemplating BALANCE?
Are you engaged in any ongoing BALANCING ACTS?
