Calvino Rabeni: May I start with a brief one by Rilke? it conveys a quality I always like to feel here.
    oO0Oo Resident: please Cal
    Hana Furlough: by all means
    Lucinda Lavender: nodding
    Calvino Rabeni:

May What I Do Flow From Me
    by Rilke

May what I do flow from me like a river,
no forcing and no holding back,
the way it is with children.
Then in these swelling and ebbing currents,
these deepeninig tides moving out, returning,
I will sing you as no one ever has,
streaming through widening channels into the open sea.

    Hana Furlough: : )
oO0Oo Resident: that's so you Cal
    Paradise Tennant: lovely :)
    oO0Oo Resident: lol
    Lucinda Lavender: lovely...
    Calvino Rabeni: It's a little prayer-like
    oO0Oo Resident: yes, very nice
Calvino Rabeni: Anything goes here though :)
Paradise Tennant: an afirmation of intent :)
Bruce Mowbray: flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back
Calvino Rabeni: Does anyone have something they'd like to share?
oO0Oo Resident: just relishing that one
    Hana Furlough: yes
Bruce Mowbray: What does it mean. . . :
Bruce Mowbray: I will sing you. . .
    Bruce Mowbray: ?
    Hana Furlough: this is Rumi:

    A Necessary Autumn Inside Each

You and I have spoken all these words,
but as for the way we have to go,
    words are no preparation.
There is no getting ready, other than grace.
    My faults have stayed hidden.
One might call that a preparation!
I have one small drop of knowing in my soul.
Let it dissolve in your ocean.
There are so many threats to it.
Inside each of us, there's continual autumn.
Our leaves fall and are blown out over the water.
A crow sits in the blackened limbs and talks about what's gone.
Then your generosity returns: spring, moisture, intelligence,
the scent of hyacinth and rose and cypress. Joseph is back! And if you don't feel in yourself the freshness of Joseph, be Jacob! Weep and then smile. Don't pretend to know something you haven't experienced. There's a necessary dying, and then Jesus is breathing again. Very little grows on jagged rock. Be ground. Be crumbled, so wildflowers will come up where you are.  You've been stony for too many years. Try something different. Surrender.

oO0Oo Resident: it's such a touching sentiment really
    Bruce Mowbray listens.
    Hana Furlough:
    Calvino Rabeni: Beautiful
Calvino Rabeni: "A crow sits in the blackened limbs and talks about what's gone. Then your generosity returns: "
Bruce Mowbray: "There is no getting ready, other than grace."
    Hana Furlough: i know, right?!
Paradise Tennant: smiles ... a shiny truth :)
Bruce Mowbray: and a similar image of river running to sea. . . similar to the first one.
Hana Furlough: yeah that's what made me think of it
    Hana Furlough: and the flowing
    Hana Furlough: the necessary flowing
Bruce Mowbray: I have one small drop of knowing in my soul. Let it dissolve in your ocean.
Calvino Rabeni: That has such a strong feeling to it .. visceral
    Bruce Mowbray savors the image.
oO0Oo Resident: "there is no getting ready", and "very little grows on jagged"
Paradise Tennant: it has a tangible texture of clarity almost taste it ..
oO0Oo Resident: really nice one hana
Hana Furlough: thanks, it was just the reminder i needed today
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: I think it powerful to reflect -"this is what resonated with me in that which we have experienced together"
    oO0Oo Resident: yes
    Hana Furlough: conversation from soliloquy
    --BELL--

Lucinda Lavender: Luci is thinking about the image of this mornings dream...our pool here was first full of snow for skiiing, looked away then it was an ocean...looked away again and it was sand.
    Paradise Tennant: wow
Bruce Mowbray: A love poem by e e cummings?
    Calvino Rabeni: have one, Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: I shall bring it forth stanza by stanza. . .
    Bruce Mowbray:

    somewhere I have never travelled
    by e e cummings

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
    the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

oO0Oo Resident: I love this poem!
Paradise Tennant: taking my breath away .. have never read it before
Hana Furlough: --> nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
    Hana Furlough: wow!!!
    oO0Oo Resident: !!!
Bruce Mowbray: I loved in as an undergrad -- fifty years ago (!)
Bruce Mowbray: "The voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses."
oO0Oo Resident: used in film Hannah and her Sisters
Calvino Rabeni "uncloses" frees some tension he hadn't seen .. until just then
    Bruce Mowbray: ahhhh!
    Hana Furlough: yes
    Hana Furlough: me too!
oO0Oo Resident: "your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,"
Hana Furlough: we've got a lot of inspiration from which to draw...
Hana Furlough: how about some group composition?
    Calvino Rabeni: Sure :)
Bruce Mowbray feels the 'pressure' but willing to give it a go.
Hana Furlough: not to worry -- it's okay to just hang out and watch/listen/read too
    Hana Furlough: no worries
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    oO0Oo Resident smiles at Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: ty
Hana Furlough: does anyone want to start?
oO0Oo Resident: "May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back,"
    Hana Furlough: yes!
    Hana Furlough: that's the spirit!
Paradise Tennant: great first line :)) O
Calvino Rabeni: I'll repeat it as it grows, so it's easier to keep in the mind's eye
    Bruce Mowbray: ok. that's good.
Calvino Rabeni: Shall we go around clockwise? Then you'd be next, Hana
    Hana Furlough: sure
Hana Furlough: at high noon and right before us
Hana Furlough: a pool of lotuses
oO0Oo Resident: wonderment not the colour, nor the scent of gardenias
Calvino Rabeni: "May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back," at high noon and right before us a pool of lotuses
    oO0Oo Resident: oops
Lucinda Lavender: growing forever toward the sun.

    Composition
    by PlayAsBeing

"May what I do flow from me like a river,
no forcing and no holding back,"

at high noon and right before us a pool of lotuses
    growing forever toward the sun.

and patient, as tree rings, and waves

splash in sunbeams, darting diamonds on the pool ..
petals pink - warmed by gold

the one real drop within me now melts in a larger flow

    Bruce Mowbray:  APPLAUSE!!
Calvino Rabeni smiles - a complete round
    Hana Furlough: : )
oO0Oo Resident: tree rings ... so patient yes Bruce
    oO0Oo Resident: nice image
Bruce Mowbray: I have a sonnet to share...
Bruce Mowbray: one that I wrote myself.
Bruce Mowbray: a long time ago.
    Calvino Rabeni gets excited
    Paradise Tennant: smiles and listens
    Lucinda Lavender: wonderful
Bruce Mowbray: I shall break it up. . .
    Hana Furlough: great!
    Bruce Mowbray: -
    oO0Oo Resident: :0
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: There lies in every crude and common crag An opening through which to find and flag The cosmos down (in wordless wonder's wake). A brief hiatus, hole, or postern break That naughty nature notches everywhere To catch our contemplations unaware.
Bruce Mowbray: And in serenely self-determined mode Each one of us will find herself abode Therein. A hermitage, an inward home, Through which imagination's stallions roam Unbridled. Nature made it so in every bind, Specific speckle, particle, and mind.
Bruce Mowbray: A penetrating argument for Grace: That puny perforations offer space!
    Hana Furlough: fantastic!!!!
    oO0Oo Resident: Awesome!
    Bruce Mowbray: :) ty.
    Calvino Rabeni: Wow
    Calvino Rabeni: powerful
Calvino Rabeni: I'd like to read it aloud to a big group
    Hana Furlough: indeed
Calvino Rabeni: (it seems so melodious and fun to speak)
    Lucinda Lavender: great!
    Bruce Mowbray: thank you.
Calvino Rabeni: That line is so vital -
Calvino Rabeni: Through which imagination's stallions roam Unbridled
oO0Oo Resident: not the jags... but the crags...
    oO0Oo Resident: iterstice
    oO0Oo Resident: interstice
    oO0Oo Resident: space
    oO0Oo Resident: discovery
    Hana Furlough: smile
    oO0Oo Resident: available to all
    --BELL--

Paradise Tennant: likes specific speckle, particle and mind ...
Calvino Rabeni: It really is a poem that rewards revisiting -- hearing again and getting to know --
    Hana Furlough: yes
Hana Furlough: it has many nooks and crannies
    oO0Oo Resident: :)
oO0Oo Resident: worth looking into again and again
Bruce Mowbray: ;-) and common crags. I'd love to hear other's original poems, if anyone would care to share them.
Calvino Rabeni: Good poems seem to keep developing and unfolding
    Hana Furlough: yes
    Hana Furlough: manifesting
    Paradise Tennant: they have layers
Hana Furlough: i hate to run out now, but i need to get back to work
Paradise Tennant: that intwine you .
Hana Furlough: thank you all for the wonderful poetic inspiration!
    Hana Furlough: until next time!
    oO0Oo Resident: enjoy life Hana
Paradise Tennant: take care hana .. thank you :) for the beautiful poetry :)
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks for being with us, Hana.
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks Hana!
Calvino Rabeni: Now that she's gone ...
Calvino Rabeni: I'd like to share one I like
    Calvino Rabeni: .
Calvino Rabeni: Conceptualized by Molly Vallor This background buzz that magenta explosion trapped eternity these seeming circles are just bubbles to the surface
    Calvino Rabeni: .
    oO0Oo Resident: phew
    Lucinda Lavender: smailing...
    Lucinda Lavender: smiling
    oO0Oo Resident: that's a whale of a smile cinda
    Lucinda Lavender: just so...:)
oO0Oo Resident: dense, sudden insight, gesture, explodes/trapped....
Bruce Mowbray: " magenta explosion" of smailing.
    oO0Oo Resident: then just... bubbles
Calvino Rabeni: Makes me think of cosmology actually
    Calvino Rabeni: cosmic background radiation
    Bruce Mowbray: super-novas.
Calvino Rabeni: left over from the first act of creation
    Bruce Mowbray: "trapped eternity" - - -
Paradise Tennant: like the sun burning on the inside of your eyelids
    Bruce Mowbray: compression - - - perhaps an oxymoron. . .
oO0Oo Resident: astronauts used to experience bright flashes in their vision, the result of cosmic rays passing through their eyeballs
Calvino Rabeni: Some can penetrate the atmosphere ... so I'm ready for it to happen to me ... any minute ... :)
    Lucinda Lavender: interesting!
Calvino Rabeni: Or crash my SL viewer
Lucinda Lavender: feel both a grand level and a subtle bubble level
Bruce Mowbray remembers Blake's "eternity in an hour" and "the universive in a grain of sand."
    Bruce Mowbray: universe*
Calvino Rabeni: Heheh .. a new kind of activist perhaps!
    Calvino Rabeni: The "universive"
    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: William Blake - Auguries of Innocence To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour.
Paradise Tennant: always loved Blake :)
oO0Oo Resident: Glimpsing the sun, I've thought of one
Bruce Mowbray: And speaking of "hours" -- It's way past bedtime for me.
Bruce Mowbray: so, thank you all.
Bruce Mowbray: This has been a perfect ending to my day.
Paradise Tennant: good night Bruce Thank you :)
    Lucinda Lavender: thank you Bruce!
Bruce Mowbray: Good night. And may all flow freely . . . .(!)
oO0Oo Resident: sleep/rest well, and flow on in freedom
Paradise Tennant: Here is one of my favourites :)
Paradise Tennant: Love is the cure Love is the cure, for your pain will keep giving birth to more pain until your eyes constantly exhale love as effortlessly as your body yields its scent.???
    Paradise Tennant: By Rumi
Paradise Tennant: until your eyes constantly exhanle love .. as effortlessly as your body yields its scent ...
Paradise Tennant: such powerful images he placed on paper
oO0Oo Resident wonders how many lifetimes left to go
oO0Oo Resident: I can confirm that pain giving birth to more pain thing by the way
Paradise Tennant: smiles at O but so much easier when we are human imagine trying to get there as a beetle ;)
Lucinda Lavender: he said it so succinctly...
oO0Oo Resident: and the effortless exhalation, so like the the flowing in Cal's first
Calvino Rabeni: What edge are we standing near .. without realizing it ...
Paradise Tennant: yes a commonality of grace
Calvino Rabeni: Also by Rumi - "Sit, be still, and listen, because you're drunk and we're at the edge of the roof."
oO0Oo Resident: Absolutely Clear Don't surrender your loneliness So quickly. Let it cut more deep. Let it ferment and season you As few human Or even divine ingredients can. Something missing in my heart tonight Has made my eyes so soft, My voice So tender, My need of God Absolutely Clear.
    oO0Oo Resident: .
    oO0Oo Resident: Khw??ja ??amsu d-D??n Mu???ammad H??fez-e ????r??z??
Calvino Rabeni: This willingness to face suffering without blinking or turning aside from what is
Lucinda Lavender: reading it I feel quieter...
Paradise Tennant: went from laughter to .. surrender :)
oO0Oo Resident: T. S. Eliot, in Four Quartets, writes: I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting.
    oO0Oo Resident: .
oO0Oo Resident: and we'r at the edge of the roof
    oO0Oo Resident: we'r
    oO0Oo Resident: hehe
Lucinda Lavender: I had a poem that I found something in...To Be a Slave to Intensity...Kabir It speaks of waiting for the guest.
    oO0Oo Resident: we're
    oO0Oo Resident listens
Lucinda Lavender: I am afriad I cannot move it into this place...
Lucinda Lavender: it just does not work for me...
    oO0Oo Resident: work lucinda?
Lucinda Lavender: I will try to write it...
    Paradise Tennant: listens :)
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: may I paste it for you, Cinda?
Lucinda Lavender: yes! I type sloly...
    Lucinda Lavender: slowly
oO0Oo Resident enjoys being a tree ring
    Calvino Rabeni:

To Be A Slave Of Intensity by Kabir Friend, hope for the guest while you are alive. Jump into experience while you are alive! Think???and think???while you are alive. What you call ???salvation??? belongs to the time before death. If you don???t break your ropes while you???re alive, do you think ghosts will do it after? The idea that the soul will join with the ecstatic just because the body is rotten - that is all fantasy. What is found now is found then. If you find nothing now, you will simply end up with an apartment in the City of Death. If you make love with the divine now, in the next life, you will have the face of satisfied desire. So plunge into the truth, find out who the Teacher is, Believe in the Great Sound! Kabir says this: When the Guest is being searched for, it is the intensity of the longing for the Guest that does all of the work. Look at me, and you will see a slave of that intensity.

    Lucinda Lavender: that is it...
Lucinda Lavender: thank you so much...
    Calvino Rabeni: YW :)
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks for bringing it
    Paradise Tennant: smiles :)))))))
Paradise Tennant: Look at me and you will see a slave of that intensity ...love that ending
    Calvino Rabeni: drunkenness and longing

    Paradise Tennant: really powerful
Lucinda Lavender: well it feels to me like it is connected to the love that pours forth from the eyes...
Paradise Tennant: yes to be in the flow of love
Paradise Tennant: O Love O Love, O pure deep Love, be here, be now, Be all ??? worlds dissolve into your stainless endless radiance, Frail living leaves burn with your brighter than cold stares ??? Make me your servant, your breath, your core.
    Paradise Tennant: also by Rumi
oO0Oo Resident: maybe it worked Lucinda
Calvino Rabeni: There's a tree in that also
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Calvino Rabeni: And a lot of body
    Calvino Rabeni: feeling present alive
    Calvino Rabeni: .
Lucinda Lavender: yes maybe so...I just find that certain lines are moving to me....
    --BELL--

Calvino Rabeni: What is the moving line?
Lucinda Lavender: intensity of the longing for the guest does all the work...maybe I have spent time this way...
Lucinda Lavender: certainly also moved by the Great Sound...
oO0Oo Resident: Reminded of Thirty Pieces of Sincere Advice by Longchenpa http://is.gd/9eVyNI (a long passage)
Paradise Tennant: there is such a common theme of intense connection to ... love .. to divinity
    oO0Oo Resident: maybe for later
Calvino Rabeni: The eye of knowing (or hearing) looks both ways
Calvino Rabeni: The poet contemplates what it takes
    Calvino Rabeni: .
Calvino Rabeni: The Space Within Us by Rilke The space within us reaches out, translates each thing. For the essence of a tree to be real for you, cast inner space around it, out of the space that exists in you. Encircle it with restraint. It has no borders. Only in the realm of your renouncing can it, as tree, be known.
    Calvino Rabeni scans for advice
    Calvino Rabeni: In a nutshell
Calvino Rabeni: "take it from me .. don't listen to what I say"
Calvino Rabeni: I've studied with many learned and masterful teachers and received their profound instruction. I've read some profound sutras and tantras and understood a little of them. But I don't practice what I know. It's too bad. I just fool myself. So, for me and those like me I offer these thirty pieces of sincere advice.
    Calvino Rabeni: .
    Lucinda Lavender: Thanks Samuo...Cal...
    Lucinda Lavender: Paradise...
Paradise Tennant: smiles at lucinda :) thank you .. I loved your intensity poem

oO0Oo Resident: aphrodite gave me a champagne glass before
Calvino Rabeni: I met a poet who NEVER finshed a poem... he had thousands ... all with titles like "Poem Starter #755"
oO0Oo Resident: I appreciate the sobering up
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
oO0Oo Resident: dakiniis have sharp teeth for a reason

    Calvino Rabeni nods
Lucinda Lavender: and are treading water.
Lucinda Lavender: last statement can be remove for a different direction if you wish...
oO0Oo Resident: energy o keeping afloat
oO0Oo Resident: "it is the intensity of the longing for the Guest that does all of the work."
Paradise Tennant: says a voice .. another says plunge deep ... below the waves .... only one meaning matters .. love ..my hearts pounds in the surf
Paradise Tennant: sigh .. my muse .. is snoring :)

    Calvino Rabeni: .
Calvino Rabeni: "As I went walking on the stair
Calvino Rabeni: I met a man who wasn't there
Calvino Rabeni: He wasn't there again today

Lucinda Lavender: oh...great to see all of it
Lucinda Lavender: my brain is running low on power as was the computer which just shut down for a second...I better go for now. Thank you all...
Calvino Rabeni: I would like to reprise the theme of longing and love, with this Rilke quote:

I can only measure the world in terms of longing. All things are so ready to accommodate our many and often mistaken thoughts and wishes. With each thing I would like to rest for a night, after a day of "doing" with other things. I would like to sleep once with each thing, nestled in its warmth; to dream in the rhythm of its breathing, its dear, naked neghborliness against my limbs, and grow strong in the fragrance of its sleep. Then, early in the morning, before it awakens, before any good-byes, to move on, to move on...

    Calvino Rabeni: .
Calvino Rabeni: and with that, good night Cinda
Calvino Rabeni: sleep well .. that's a bedtime poem :)
Lucinda Lavender: and a sweet one:)
