The Guardian for this meeting was Adams Rubble. The comments are by Adams Rubble.
Moments of magic will glow in the night
All fears of the forest are gone
But when the morning breaks
They're swept away by golden drops of dawn of changes.
-Phil Ochs
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Raffi.
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Eos.
Raffila Millgrove: Hello Bruce, Eos
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Adams.
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Bruce, Adams
Eos Amaterasu: Eden
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Eden.
Adams Rubble: Hello everyone :)
Eden Haiku: Good morning everyone :)
Adams Rubble: nice to see everyone :)
Eden Haiku: :)
ElanVitalo Resident: 's current display-name is "Elan".
Adams Rubble: Are you all here to talk about change?
Eden Haiku: Indeed:)
Adams Rubble: Hello Elan :)
ShinjuJin Resident: 's current display-name is "真珠".
ElanVitalo Resident nods.
Eden Haiku: To listen about changes
ElanVitalo Resident: Hi, everyone.
Adams Rubble: Hello Shinjulin :)
ShinjuJin Resident: Hi Adams, everyone :)
ElanVitalo Resident: Hi, Shin.
It got quiet for a bit and I realized people may be waiting for me to start, so I began...
Adams Rubble: It has been a whirlwind past few weeks
Adams Rubble: I don't have a prepared statement :)
Adams Rubble: I have found it interesting that I am coping better with my RL changes better than the PaB changes
Adams Rubble: and I have spent some time this week looking at myself to find out why
Adams Rubble: In RL I am very, very busy
Adams Rubble: and have a load of things to do before I leave my position
Adams Rubble: In fact I don't think I can get them all done
Adams Rubble: so I do not have time to think much about it
Adams Rubble: whereas in PaB I feel things are moving ahead and I am not
Eden Haiku: This must be difficult, feeling you won't be able to do everything...
ShinjuJin Resident nods
Adams Rubble: Actually not too much Eden. It is what it is
Adams Rubble: although I am trying my best
Eden Haiku: Great attitude Adams :)
Eos Amaterasu: it is what it is... vs .... it isn't what it couild be
Adams Rubble: ohh, Eos
Adams Rubble: no it isn't :)
ShinjuJin Resident: Hi Riddle
Riddle Sideways: hi All
Adams Rubble: I began to wonder whether other people might be feeling the way I do about PaB
Eden Haiku: hey Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: Hello Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: if so, it would be good to talk about it
Eden Haiku: gathering thoughts....
Adams Rubble: There will be new challenges to the group
Eden Haiku: At first. I felt a lot of anxiety about the change we had to go through...
Eden Haiku: A lot of new things, in a time when I was very busy, as everybody else is too I guess
Eden Haiku: But now that we have the land, a temporary pavillion, a neigborhood, I feel much better. Relaxed even :)
Adams Rubble: :)
ShinjuJin Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways: Life is Change
Adams Rubble: If we prefer we can move on to how we cope with change in general
Riddle Sideways: changes go on continually
Adams Rubble: Buddhist's like to remind us everything is impermanent
Adams Rubble: yes Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: it is how we cope with them that define us
Eos Amaterasu: So do Merry Pranksters
Eos Amaterasu: "Nothing lasts"
Riddle Sideways: the grief conseling stages apply often
Riddle Sideways: of Denial and isolation
Riddle Sideways: Anger
Riddle Sideways: Bargaining
Riddle Sideways: Depression
Eden Haiku: And acceptation
Riddle Sideways: then Acceptance
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: Easy to get angry when we feel things are not going are way
Riddle Sideways: Anger of why did this person die when I needed them
Riddle Sideways: to why do they make toothpicks that break
ShinjuJin Resident smiles
Riddle Sideways: change or other orderly
Bruce Mowbray: or teeth that break.
Adams Rubble: uh oh
Riddle Sideways: is almost like that
Bruce Mowbray listens.
ShinjuJin Resident: there is a gap between what one knows and how one sees themself working that knowledge out into their way of being with the world and others
Riddle Sideways: Denial of that change happening
Eos Amaterasu: manual labor between insight and the earth of specific events knocking us back and forth< Shinju?
ShinjuJin Resident: great way to say it - manual labor, yes
Raffila Millgrove: change that is choice is easier to handle than forced changes where you had nothing to do and would not chose a particular change. I feel like frustration is more often my initial response than...denial.
Adams Rubble nods to Raffia
Raffila Millgrove: if your house burns down or someone dies.. you don't really deny it.. you stand about in shock.
Eos Amaterasu: you are dispossessed
ShinjuJin Resident nods
Raffila Millgrove nods.
Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: In PaB denial may have been earlier when we were getting a free ride that could not go on
Riddle Sideways: there is often a quick "this could not have happened ..."
Adams Rubble: we all knew in the back of our minds there would be change
Eden Haiku: I felt I was drifting away and this change shocked me back in :)
Raffila Millgrove: oh that is good to hear Eden.
ShinjuJin Resident: I have felt a little relieved by not having that feeling
Adams Rubble: :)
Eden Haiku: I realized I valued the people I met here and was going to lose the connection we couldn,t find a way to go with this wave of changes...
Riddle Sideways: yes
Eden Haiku: *if (we couldn't...)
ShinjuJin Resident: yes, felt good for there to be such a response of holding on
Bruce Mowbray: I noted in a previous session that PaB seems to have experienced a "pruning" -- and the removal of old branches might have evoked new energies of growth.
Bruce Mowbray: I surely feels like that, for me.
Eos Amaterasu: Chapter 1, "Facing the FIre": Otto Scharmer's experience when his family house burned down: http://www.iwp.jku.at/Born/mpwfst/05/scharmer/0504Theory_U_intro.pdf
Eos Amaterasu: (homework reading :-)
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Riddle Sideways: ty
Editor's Note: The link did not work and Eos gave it to us at the end. I have taken the liberty of pasting in the correct link.
Raffila Millgrove: link doesnt work for me?
ShinjuJin Resident: ty Eos...not coming up for me but will try on other computer later
Raffila Millgrove: anyone else bring it up?
ElanVitalo Resident wonders if that might be similar if a tornado swept away his house.
Adams Rubble: there is an extra} at the end
Eos Amaterasu: (sorry, couldn't copy/paste: will add correct link to log)
Adams Rubble: whoops not that
Bruce Mowbray: nope. I get a 404.
Eden Haiku: Ah ok Eos, thanks...I look forwoard reading this.
ShinjuJin Resident: ty
Adams Rubble: thanks Eos
ShinjuJin Resident: I find it hard not to let cynicism creep in at times and affect responses.. be reactive in micro ways that end up having larger effects over time.
Eden Haiku: My brother had an interesting way of coping with the burning down of his house
Eden Haiku: He is a scientific and passionate about the existence of parallel universes
Bruce Mowbray: Please say more, Eden.
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways listens
Eden Haiku: My brother said in a parallel universe, his house hadn't burn...
Bruce Mowbray: [Parallel universe theory is sometimes used as an 'explanation' for synchronicity, btw.]
Bruce Mowbray listens.
Adams Rubble: :)
Eden Haiku: Not sure it eased the pain much but it made me understand why he is so passionate about parallel universes. It was a way to cope with previous loss for him I guess
ShinjuJin Resident: sort of like keeping a dream world alive maybe... a refuge
Eden Haiku: And I'm the same :)
ShinjuJin Resident: :)
ElanVitalo Resident ponders the slogan, "We make our own worlds."
Riddle Sideways: :)
Bruce Mowbray: afk for a sec, brb.
Eos Amaterasu: still, in this dream-like world the sun warms the skin, and the water is cool
Adams Rubble: SL is like that
Eos Amaterasu: RL is like that
Eden Haiku: Both, yes :)
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: the warm of having a place in heart or SL where the sun is shining, warm and loving
Eden Haiku: RL is a parallel universe as welll
Raffila Millgrove: I subscribe to parallel realities .. giving the example of at the time the "reality" of our world was.. the world is flat, yet others, a tiny minority, had to keep their own reality quiet.. denied for a long time. I think that happens more than we realize.
Riddle Sideways: (and there is enough water to sprinkler the lawn)
ShinjuJin Resident smiles
Eden Haiku: hehe
Adams Rubble: sigh, yes Riddle
Eden Haiku: Change, we never like change in a way. The reality of impermanence. Yet, we like change too don't we?
Adams Rubble: change helps us detach
Eden Haiku: It's the feeling we are losing something we don't like
Adams Rubble: and, as Eos reminded us, it helps us to remember the sun and water
ShinjuJin Resident: I've noticed that change makes me want to fortify and since I can't justify that directly I see myself start doing it less consciously, trying not to need things or people as much, etc. I don't like that feeling very much, seeing that. Especially since I think of myself as a person who adapts
ShinjuJin Resident: and strives to be open, loving, etc
Adams Rubble: Yes, interesting about the feeling that we adapt well
Eden Haiku: How interesting Shin, different parts of you being challenged...
ShinjuJin Resident nods ... lots comes to the surface
Eden Haiku: Same here :)
ShinjuJin Resident: but would be nice if it came faster and worked itself out so that I didn't have so much clean up by the time Is see it, lol
ShinjuJin Resident: *I
Bruce Mowbray: Change invites us into having compassion for our predicaments of "loss."
Eden Haiku: I also like to thinkof myslef as someone who adapts...well it is not so true...
Adams Rubble: the harder we struggle, the better it feels when we resolve it
Eden Haiku: Ah!
Adams Rubble: the harder we struggle, the more understanding we can have for u-others who are struggling
Adams Rubble: others
ShinjuJin Resident nods
Eden Haiku: Like people in Kathmandou right now...
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: This "Life is continual change" thing is such that some changes are resolving while others are perhaps just starting in other live sections
Eden Haiku: We are like Rubik cubes it seems :)
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: thanks Eden, nice image for 90 secs
ShinjuJin Resident: what about those moments/vistas in life when there is such bliss that you are thankful for 'everything' that came before... until you start to single out other things and realize you can't imagine going through them again
ElanVitalo Resident looks for similarities/differences between Rubic Cube and I Ching.
Eden Haiku: ;) I was tasting the feeling of meditating with you all for 90 secs, wondering why I don't hear the bell though. Do you «hear» it?
Adams Rubble: I do not hear the bell
ShinjuJin Resident: I don't hear the bell either
Riddle Sideways: ah ha, no bell
Eden Haiku: We read it in chat it seems:) Waving to Wol, maybe we have the bell ringing in our ears too?
Bruce Mowbray: just crickets.
ShinjuJin Resident: text bell
Bruce Mowbray: and typing sounds.
Raffila Millgrove: was it working for your session Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: I don't think so,k actually.
Eden Haiku: A text bell. No Bella but a text bell.
Adams Rubble: Is there a bell doctor in the house?
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Bruce Mowbray: also the cooing of a dove.
Eden Haiku: One of the things that saddened me the most in our big change, was the fact that noone could adopt Bella the cat...
Raffila Millgrove: i think it's on owl Bruce.
Bruce Mowbray: oh, sry.
Raffila Millgrove: i love that owl.. i got on who sounds the same in my patio.
Bruce Mowbray: hoot owl, indeed.
Riddle Sideways: yes, miss Bella (and Belll)
ShinjuJin Resident: was just thinking of Bella
ShinjuJin Resident: and the fun of naming her
ShinjuJin Resident: but also the way she spent a lot of time alone
Eden Haiku: She's somewhere in SL netherland I suppose ;(
ElanVitalo Resident or another universe....
ShinjuJin Resident: or did she... since she really only existed when someone else was there? lol
Adams Rubble: or inventory :)
Eden Haiku: hehe
Riddle Sideways: well, the mind really reved up on those thoughts :)
Eden Haiku: Where do virtual cats go...
ShinjuJin Resident giggles
Eden Haiku: They are gone with the wind of change
Riddle Sideways: anywhere they want
Bruce Mowbray: "anywhere they want" -- purrrrfect!
Adams Rubble: :)
ShinjuJin Resident: A dear friend had an unspeakable loss a few weeks ago, and it threw into question everything that we'd ever talked about before... made everything seem really trivial for a while
ShinjuJin Resident: and one feels very useless to help
Eden Haiku: Oh! sorry to hear that Shin...
ShinjuJin Resident: but I watched this miraculous person ask for help
ShinjuJin Resident: and receive it... in big and open ways
ShinjuJin Resident: it really blew my mind that she could function at all
ShinjuJin Resident: but she included all her communities and friends...amazing
Bruce Mowbray: a wise person who knows when to call for help.
Eden Haiku: Wow!
ShinjuJin Resident: all the trivial stuff turned out to be really important
ShinjuJin Resident: all those little useless jokes and conversations about nonsense
Eden Haiku: What a beautiful example of resilience: the ability to ask for help.
ShinjuJin Resident: ended up being light points of connection
ShinjuJin Resident: yes, astounding really
ShinjuJin Resident: still going through phases, but that was her first response
Riddle Sideways: really like the thoughts that stupid bad jokes, puns and riddles are some important, thanks
Eden Haiku: I like that: " light points of connection", Isn't it what we are for each other in this space lab of PaB?
ShinjuJin Resident: indeed
Riddle Sideways: yes
Eden Haiku: True, your riddles are indeed very precious Riddle :)
Bruce Mowbray: "Life Aint Nuthin' but a Funny Funny Riddle" -- John Denver, Thank God I'm a Country Boy
Eden Haiku: As well as Adams important and serious questions about changes in our lives and in PaB
Riddle Sideways: and how to Cope
ShinjuJin Resident: and celebrate
Adams Rubble: it is often the trivial things that make us suffer the most
Eden Haiku: And how to cope...
ShinjuJin Resident: how so Adams?
Eden Haiku: and celebrate
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: Not sure Shinjuin
Adams Rubble: there is a very faint bell
Raffila Millgrove: sound like my alarm.. very faint and slight buzziness to it.
Eos Amaterasu: Before I go, here's correct link, btw: http://www.iwp.jku.at/Born/mpwfst/05/scharmer/0504Theory_U_intro.pdf Chapter 1, page 18, "Facing the Fire"
Eos Amaterasu: (I hope)
Adams Rubble: Thank you Eos :)
ShinjuJin Resident: thanks Eos :)
Riddle Sideways: speakers up to 11, there is a bell
Raffila Millgrove: wow this bell is programmed to tell you to hush if you talk during the quiet time.
Adams Rubble: yes the link works Eos
ElanVitalo Resident also heard bell, this time.
ShinjuJin Resident: oooh it only shows up individually!
Adams Rubble: and yes Raffia it told me to be quet :)
Eden Haiku: heard the bell this time. Is Wol hovering over us, listening to our minds and chat and adjusting the bell as we talk. Wol as an angel?
Raffila Millgrove: thanks Eos.. this one works fine.
Riddle Sideways: and speakers at 11 = RL cat intent on crickets
ShinjuJin Resident: I was shhhd yesterday but didn't see it for others
ShinjuJin Resident grins at Eden
Eos Amaterasu: like a library :-)
Raffila Millgrove: I was hushed.. did you guys see it?
ShinjuJin Resident: perfect
Adams Rubble: I saw my hush
ElanVitalo Resident: shshhhing is individual handed out, Shin.
ShinjuJin Resident: I didn't see it for you today but saw it for myself yesterday
Raffila Millgrove: cause my typing about the alarm fuzzy quality went across...
ElanVitalo Resident: individually*
Raffila Millgrove: oh ok.. must be secretly talking to the naughty talkers.
Eden Haiku: Love to hear abour Riddles RL cat...A reincarnation of Bella maybe?
ShinjuJin Resident: and noticed it doesn't show up in logs, so made my howler joke seem out of place
Eden Haiku: :)
Eos Amaterasu: Must leave, thanks all!
ShinjuJin Resident waves
Adams Rubble: Thank you all :)
Eden Haiku: Bye Eos:)
Adams Rubble: bye Eos
Riddle Sideways: ok going to stick with: Wol is hovering over our minds
Bruce Mowbray: I salute Adams for bringing her thoughts/feelings to our community.
ShinjuJin Resident: thanks Adams
Bruce Mowbray: bye for now.
Adams Rubble: bye Bruce :)
Riddle Sideways: and emails that get us out of bed at 7am
Adams Rubble: haha
ShinjuJin Resident: :)
Raffila Millgrove: mm this link from Eos is Really interesting! be sure to bookmark/save it! ty again Eos.
Eden Haiku: Thank you Adams for this beautiful session, sitting with questions. I'm also intrigued by the trivial details that make us suffer. Do you care to say more about this?
Raffila Millgrove: and thank you Adams for hosting us!
Adams Rubble: Maybe another session Eden :)
Adams Rubble: I know what I mean but do not have the words
ShinjuJin Resident: wondered if thought was along the lines of second arrow suffering, but intrigued :)
Riddle Sideways: oooooooooooooo a segway to another session, Nice
Adams Rubble: I should have said we often suffer as much with the little iunimportant stuff as with the big stuff
Eden Haiku: I like that too! A sequel...
Raffila Millgrove: sooo true!
ShinjuJin Resident: for sure
Adams Rubble: a cliffhanger :)
Raffila Millgrove: the little stuff is what does me in.. i am brave and fab with the big stuff. i rip my hair on on little stuff.
We had a visitor and I forgot to mention the recording so we will call him "visitor".
ShinjuJin Resident: Hi Visitor
Riddle Sideways: hi Visitor
Adams Rubble: Hello Visitor
Visitor: hello hippies!
Eden Haiku: Hi Visitor
ShinjuJin Resident: I call that displacement
Raffila Millgrove: you do? I call it going bald. haha. see you all later!
ShinjuJin Resident laughs
Adams Rubble: bye Raffia :)
Riddle Sideways: sorry Visitor, session was just ending
Eden Haiku: Ah yes, it's easier to get angry at your toe for bumping into something then at the real cause...
ShinjuJin Resident: right
Adams Rubble: :)
ShinjuJin Resident: thanks Adams and everyone,! Eden lovely dress btw.
Adams Rubble: bye all
Adams Rubble: Visitor we were just finishing
Eden Haiku: Thank you so much Adams. Take care! Bye everyone!
Visitor: aaaw
Adams Rubble: we meet at 7 am on Sunday
Visitor: see you!
Visitor then left before I could do a more proper introduction to PaB
