The Guardian for this meeting was Riddle Sideways. The comments are by Riddle Sideways. Riddle Sideways: Ha, may have gotten all this old tech to work :) Adams Dubrovna: Good morning Riddle :) --BELL-- Riddle Sideways: Good mid-Morning Adams :) Riddle Sideways: was now worrying about PaB.org connections Adams Dubrovna: The museums are not showing up in searches. I will have to figure that out Adams Dubrovna: what about pab.org connections? Riddle Sideways: slow or not ? still under investagations :) Riddle Sideways: once again, Funny how the mind works Riddle Sideways: before some test yesterday, was feeling oh so fine Riddle Sideways: a test reports sick and all the aches and pains are fatal indicators :) Adams Dubrovna: :( Riddle Sideways: A Mind is a terrible thing to just let go rambling off on it's own Adams Dubrovna: yes Adams Dubrovna: best to keep one's mind chained up Riddle Sideways: back. a nice person was taking the prisoners coffee order Adams Dubrovna: :) Riddle Sideways: Today kids, we have a long rambling story to explain and get us back to a final point that you will like. Riddle Sideways: It involves a Jewish Kabalist sortof traditon named counting the Omer --BELL-- Riddle Sideways: (this may have been discussed in PaB before, but did not search it, will just talk more) Riddle Sideways: the Omer is a period of days from the second night of Passover until Shavuot (from Exodus to receiving Torah) Riddle Sideways: 49 days Riddle Sideways: which is 7 weeks of 7 days Riddle Sideways: Kibalists' love number things like that Riddle Sideways: a special name and meanings is put to everyday of the week Riddle Sideways: and moves from general to specific to universal as the days go by Riddle Sideways: then the next week gets the intention of the number day for the whole week added to the day intent Riddle Sideways: so, the first is "Chesad" or "Loving Kindness" Riddle Sideways: so day 1 in week 1 gets double the Loving Kindness mindfulness Adams Dubrovna: can't beat loving kindness Riddle Sideways: there becomes a very nice organized 7 week mindfulness practice Riddle Sideways: Each sunset you change slightly the theme/practice/intent/focus of the whole next day Riddle Sideways: #3 is Compassion (one of your other favs) Riddle Sideways: that makes today Compassion and harmony in Loving Kindness Riddle Sideways: a really good one Adams Dubrovna: :) Riddle Sideways: week 3 will be (each day's theme) in Compassion Riddle Sideways: All this is oh so good, that it is worth doing each year at this time. Adams Dubrovna: :) Riddle Sideways: However, the Kabalists could not quite leave it that simple Adams Dubrovna: ohhhh? Riddle Sideways: there were many other rules, traditions and right ways to do things added Riddle Sideways: that have messed it up for me the last few years --BELL-- Riddle Sideways: Having read some rule about the strict people say that if you miss the prayer at sunset on any one day you have messed the whole thing up and must quit now Riddle Sideways: This year, read The Reform version of counting the Omer Adams Dubrovna: spoil sports Riddle Sideways: and get the Relaxed version Riddle Sideways: the 'Don't be so hard self' version Riddle Sideways: best one was 'How about at your waking each day, you then count the Omer and dedicate this day to the intent' Adams Dubrovna: as an outsider, I think the spoil sports miss the meaning of the practice Riddle Sideways: much better Riddle Sideways: yes, many times they do Adams Dubrovna: in a way this is a calendar practice Riddle Sideways: yep Adams Dubrovna: I must tell you my recent experience with the calendar Riddle Sideways: /listens Adams Dubrovna: For the past week or so, I thought I had an eye doctor appointment for Tuesday at noon Adams Dubrovna: I scheduled my week around it Adams Dubrovna: Yesterday morning, I looked at the calendar and the appointment was written in for Monday. I thought, ohh I have an eye doctor appt at noon on Tuesday as I wrote some things on to the calendar for Monday Adams Dubrovna: at 12;30 I got a telephone call as I was approaching you in SL Adams Dubrovna: "where are you? you had an appt at noon" Adams Dubrovna: whoops Adams Dubrovna: so I left everything and rushed off Adams Dubrovna: That is an example of a wrong view when all signs point otherwise Adams Dubrovna: needless to say it has left me a little shaken Riddle Sideways: a little shaken that lingers on and on. Should have been a bigger shaking the 'shook it all off' :) Riddle Sideways: whoops, easy for observer to say Adams Dubrovna: we are not always seeing what we think we see Adams Dubrovna: Mind has one view; eyes have a different view. Who wins? Riddle Sideways: memory has a long list of times that has happened and often still punishs for missed things, times, etc. Riddle Sideways: still have a list of 4 times that have shown up an hour early because the mind did Not read the clock like the eyes should have Riddle Sideways: fav quote: In 'Stranger in a Strange land' whatzhisname says "I'll give you an example, '(whatzhername), what color is that house over there?" she answers "This side is white" --BELL-- Adams Dubrovna: ohh, an eye test Riddle Sideways: an eye-mind test Adams Dubrovna: maybe I need an appointment with the mind doctor Riddle Sideways: would just tell you to heal thyself :) Adams Dubrovna: doctor, my brain hurts Riddle Sideways: "put the Lime in the Coconut and calll me in the morning" Riddle Sideways: sorry, need to go tag team babysit Adams Dubrovna: well, it was good to see you Adams Dubrovna: bye for now Riddle Sideways: might be on anytime, we can talk then Riddle Sideways: and next week Riddle Sideways: by All Adams Dubrovna: OK, I have to figure out ahy mueuj is not searchable Adams Dubrovna: bye
