Bruce Mowbray: I'm sort of like the weather today -- not too bright.

Eden Haiku: Oh, sorry to hear that. What is going on?
Eden Haiku: I'm fine, the sun is out today, it lifts the spirit ;)
Bruce Mowbray: Oh -- nothing important, really. I'm just trying to get motivated to take on several projects today -- mostly things to get ready for winter.
Bruce Mowbray: Glad to hear you have sun. . .
Bruce Mowbray: We're overcast, rainy, and gloomy here.
Bruce Mowbray: but it will pass. . .
Eden Haiku: Oh, I see, the feeling of being overwhelmed by things to do...
Bruce Mowbray: I just need to get out there and do some things - - - You know, preps for cold weather stuff.
Bruce Mowbray: yep, I guess that's what it's about.

Eden Haiku: I missed the Being Puzzled Session yesterday but went to see the exhibits Saturday, it's wonderful!
Bertram Jacobus: very special clothing eden - is it from a mermaid ? :-)

Eden Haiku: I also loved Riddle's Crooked House. He didn't make it but the SL exhibit is a kind of dream come true for him I gathered. Very beautiful place... and puzzling too. :))

Bleu Oleander: simplicity is always a good strategy for me in art
Eden Haiku: Yes the explanation was amazing too. I thought it was some cool device from Viewer 2. And it was so simple. Like a stroke on a canvas by a zen artist!

Bertram Jacobus: i have a very ambivalent view on art i must admit : sometimes i think : how nice ! and sometimes i think : aren't there much more important tasks to do for us in the universe ? ...
Zen Arado: it took me all of half an hour
Eden Haiku: I found your "Rauschenberg" "Rest in presence" white posting in the Time reports so compelling Bleu :)
Bleu Oleander: communication is a very important task .... no matter what medium you choose
Eden Haiku: Art is the most important thing I think :)
Bleu Oleander: artists have been exploring these ideas for a long long time
Zen Arado: it's hard to decide what's important' in life
Bleu Oleander: true .... important to each person's life

Self-criticism takes away the joy, the movement, the being
Bertram Jacobus: yes zen. i know, one can learn and train, but talent seems to me to be another thing, no?

Bertram Jacobus: is it really bad to be critical ? isn't that also possible in a good way ?

Zen Arado: dropping that critical mind and allowing creativity to blossom forth

Bertram Jacobus: but yesterday only i had an example for that : there were two samba groups near by my house (here was a big marathon in my town) - and the one group was really really awesome (!!) - and the other one was not good i find - am i bad because of such distinctions ? or is it bad to divide in such ways ?

Eden Haiku: It is different than being self-critical.
Eden Haiku: Self-critical takes away the joy, the movement, the being.

Zen Arado: you can kill enjoyment if you are too critical
Bertram Jacobus: so let's draw also the line in the middle ? ;o)
Eden Haiku: Knowing what you like is you choosing according to your taste.
A little bit of venting about recent movies
Zen Arado: I have to suspend criticism if I watch modern movies
Zen Arado: just accept it as fun
Eden Haiku: oh Zen, I now understand your comments about "Inception" went to see it finally. Disliked it intensely.
Zen Arado: plots are so formulaic and similar
Eden Haiku: So many firearms and killings. So loud and so "obvious".
Bleu Oleander: you can appreciate the artist and their effort without liking their art
Zen Arado: maybe I was too critical :)
Bertram Jacobus: great view bleu
Zen Arado: thinking about that Bleu...
Eden Haiku: Yes, that is another level of appreciation Bleu, I agree.
Zen Arado: feel that way about Picasso
Bleu Oleander: art speaks to the observer in different ways
Eden Haiku: But it does not apply for Hollywood movies for me :)
Bleu Oleander: Hollywood is another story
Eden Haiku: Firearms lobby story, money stories...
Bleu Oleander: not sure if you can call it art
Zen Arado: but what is the purpose of those movies? Isn't it just escapism?
Eden Haiku: Money is their purpose I would think.

Bleu Oleander: some films are definitely art to me and some yes, Eden, just for the money
Zen Arado: well - I enjoyed avatar [I did too! "Avatar" was way less violent]
Zen Arado: even though it made a lot of money

Bleu Oleander: and that's nice if it happens
Eden Haiku: Also saw "Eat Pray Love". Compared to the book it is very much watered-down, it lacks the luster and the good laughs from the great book.
