Adams Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: Good morning Adams ㋡
Adams Rubble: Hope all is well

Riddle Sideways: you were just sitting with the lotus?
    Adams Rubble: yes
Adams Rubble: waiting to see we are sitting :)
Riddle Sideways: was a hard decision of where to sit
    Adams Rubble: so many places
Riddle Sideways: hard to recall which cushion has not had a turn
    Adams Rubble: look for dents
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: ㋡ tell tail signs

Adams Rubble waiting for a topic to develop
Adams Rubble: I have a blog entry that has not been written yet
Riddle Sideways: and not read it yet.
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Riddle Sideways: ㋡

Adams Rubble: In Thich's Old Path, White Clouds, the Buddha is asked about prayer
Adams Rubble: He says that to get to the other shore, one uses the boat to cross
Adams Rubble: once there one leaves the boat and does not carry it around
Adams Rubble: he also says that prayer is useless to get to the other shore
Adams Rubble: only a boat will do
Adams Rubble: There seems something off about that
Adams Rubble: one can pray for strength and courage to use the boat
Adams Rubble: what do you think?
Riddle Sideways: does seem a bit off
Riddle Sideways: trying to think from that point of view
Riddle Sideways: to Get to the other side, yes use a boat
Riddle Sideways: to want to go to the other side might need prayer
Riddle Sideways: thoughts of the other side might use prayer

Adams Rubble: We sometimes need help to get to our inner light, our Buddha nature, Goid within us
Adams Rubble: God not Gold but nice typo
Adams Rubble: except I typed Goid
Riddle Sideways: you have thought through sailing much more than I
Adams Rubble: oh, I could just sail to the other shore. hehe
Riddle Sideways: and hard to think of the internal boars
    Riddle Sideways: Boats
    Riddle Sideways: not boars
    Riddle Sideways: nor bores

    Riddle Sideways: Oh! Adael
Riddle Sideways: not seen you in so long
[07:12] Adael: here because of the Gold within us
[07:13] Adael: and to make your editing job more difficult

Riddle Sideways: Any boat in a storm
Adams Rubble: sorry to get us off track
Adams Rubble: the other shore is a metaphor
Adams Rubble: how can prayer help?
       --BELL--
Adams Rubble: I wrote a prayer and have not had the courage to put it on the blog yet
Riddle Sideways: wishing and hoping and praying
    Adams Rubble: oh Adael

Adams Rubble: sometimes we need help to reach that inner light, that Gold, that God, that Buddha nature
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: and for many/most the 'talking to' is most helpful
Riddle Sideways: prayer = talking to G-d
Adams Rubble: it can lead us to holy ground
Adams Rubble: the place where we can look beyond our "self"
Adams Rubble: life us out of our samsara at least temporarily
    Adams Rubble: lift not life\

    Riddle Sideways: Adael loves typos
    Adams Rubble: /you betcha
Riddle Sideways: a set of words that can or have lifted the self before and can again (hopefully)
[07:24] Adael: The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. -George Bernard Shaw
Riddle Sideways: like that Adael, will use it

Riddle Sideways: a set of words taken internally to unlock a combination lock in the mind
    Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: wake up the sleeping human
Riddle Sideways: applying Your special meaning to each word
Adams Rubble: sleeping through the day, lifting habitual behavior
Riddle Sideways: said in the right combination will set you free
    Adams Rubble: opening up mindfulness
    Adams Rubble: sleepers awake!

Riddle Sideways: the Prophet found the Words and tried so hard to teach them to the others
Riddle Sideways: show that we were asleep
Riddle Sideways: and how joyess being awake could be
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: However, the meaning of each word might not come across in Other's language
Riddle Sideways: that Communications breakdown thang
       --BELL--
Adams Rubble: different approaches; different words

Riddle Sideways: a very common thread, is to teach the words and force them to be repeated over and over
Riddle Sideways: just because they worked once
    Adams Rubble nods
Riddle Sideways: "Our Father" works for many, but seems off
Adams Rubble: a comedian was talking about the way people sing hymns and said the Unitarians sing very slowly because they have to think about each word and whether they believe it before singing it
[07:32] Adael misses my sibling, Faenik
Riddle Sideways: And those beautiful wordless chants
Riddle Sideways: that don't let the words get in the way
Adams Rubble: and the divinly inspired music
Riddle Sideways: reminded of the continual search for the missing chord
Riddle Sideways: or - "But you've been told many times before. Messiah's pointed to the door. No one had the guts to leave the temple" - Pete Townsend
    Adams Rubble: pray for courage

Riddle Sideways: being told the combination of words, sounds, smells, tastes that will unlock your's because it did mine
Riddle Sideways: oh! But if you only were to truly Believe, then these words would
[07:42] Adael: We are born of love; Love is our mother. -Rumi
       --BELL--

Adams Rubble: do we agree that prayer can be used to open the door?
Adams Rubble: to let God/Being in
Riddle Sideways: the pilgrim could take any of the words, any one prayer and dive deep enough
    Riddle Sideways: yes agreed
Adams Rubble: once the door is open we are on holy ground
Riddle Sideways: or open the door for us to walk in to them
Riddle Sideways: take your shoes off
    Adams Rubble: and listen
Adams Rubble: meditate on your senses, your sense objects and your sense consciousness
    Riddle Sideways: "Listen"
    Riddle Sideways: great point
Riddle Sideways: it has been difficult to 'meditate on your senses", but "listen' to your hearing sense seems tooooo easy
Riddle Sideways: See what the eyes have shown you
Adams Rubble: well, we might say listen for God which also means seeing, hearing, feeling, etc
Adams Rubble: stop and look beyond
Adams Rubble: which is much the same thing as meditating on the senses
Adams Rubble: what are they telling us, is it reality?

Riddle Sideways: having been shown a thousand paths. One of them got you there, once
    Riddle Sideways: now repeat
Adams Rubble: maybe it is a different path each time around
    Riddle Sideways: maybe
Riddle Sideways: for some it would be
Adams Rubble: maybe we did not get it right first time or maybe we are a different person this time
Adams Rubble: maybe we need to recognize we are a different person and not hold on to our "facade"
Riddle Sideways: maybe we fell in last time and can not force entry this time
Adams Rubble: I've fallen in and can't get up
Adams Rubble: time to pray for help and courage
    Riddle Sideways: ah, yes
Riddle Sideways: use 'this' boat to get to the Other side
Riddle Sideways: then leave the boat
    Adams Rubble: the other shore

Adams Rubble: ohh, I must go, someone just pulled up to pick up stuff
Riddle Sideways: thank you so much
Adams Rubble: thank you for this discussion on prayer
Adams Rubble: maybe I will have the courage to write the blog post
    Adams Rubble: bye
    Riddle Sideways: by All
    Riddle Sideways: good
